Add a consumable recipe in the cooking crafting profession that creates food that temporarily increases MF.

Make the food cost A LOT of exotic essences to craft, and make the food actually worth using.
(so players will want to eat the food)

And please don’t make the food account bound or soul bound or any of that dumb crap.

Actually, a food idea like this would make more sense as account-bound than anything else. Any idea for luck use that is available to people who haven’t reached 300% has the potential to be too enticing and end up driving people away from consuming it as intended.

There is already plenty of different types of Magic Find food. I’d much rather see it salvageable into another material, or become a material or currency of its own.

Once you hit max MF, essence of luck become consumables.

Fine EoL: +10% MF for 30 minutes
Masterwork EoL: +25% MF for 30 minutes
Rare EoL: +25% MF for 1 hour
Exotic EoL: +50% MF for 1 hour
Legendary EoL: +50% MF for 3 hours

This is the best suggestion here, though I’d actually lower the durations / adjust effects, because a player’s ability to earn essences far outstrips their ability to spend it at those.

Fine: 10% for 5 minutes.
Masterwork: 20% for 5 minutes
Rare: 30% for 10 minutes
Exotic: 50% for 30 minutes
Legendary: 100% for 1 hour.

That still wouldn’t utilize all the luck received. Don’t really dig it as an idea either.

How about a mystic forge recipe for 500 of the exotic lucks to be combined with some random mini pet or fetch quest (mawdrey) thing that eats luck and gives you a ‘gift’ of something – these seem to be popular for Anet.

I honestly wouldn’t mind this idea either. Anything they do would be better than the way it is currently.

Add a new achieve for hitting 300% base luck, achieve reward is a tool that grinds up exotic lucks into loot bags like Mawdrey II. This way there’s no change to luck in it’s current form and people who cap can get rid of it without feeling like they’re deleting stuff or getting less gains from salvage.

Yeah this would be an excellent solution.

I hope they just give magic find post 300 a temporary magic find boost.

I would say 95% of the players having 300 magic find now just buy gears from the TP to salvage anyway. It’s not like they accomplished something that great.

I’m not saying to reward 300% magic find. I’m saying do something about the obsolete luck. Whether its giving it another use, or just remove it from the game post 300%.

The problem with removing it however, is it could still be used to level artificing to level 25. I honestly could care less about artificing to level 1-25 though.

So I’m closing in on 300% MF. Will hit it by end of this week. So my question is what do I do with luck? Just destroy it?

A couple suggestions for devs.

1. Allow them to be salvaged into a mat like Piles of Crystalline Dust
2. Create a luck vendor that you can trade for items or different currencies
3. Allow luck to be vendored off for small amount of gold like junk items
4. Stop dropping it after 300% (Not my favorite choice, but still better than having to destroy it infinitely each time you salvage)

Was more of a joke in response to this…

Honestly, it’s the booster I would get more interested in. Especially if I, well, never bought Keys. There’s only so many avenues for you to get your hands on them.

Those boosters don’t really benefit a new player, or do really much good. The reward is there so they can call it a reward system, even though we were better off getting loot from mob drops in story content, but they stripped that out of the game as well.

This is a huge bug I found… posted here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/TP-Bugs-Cannot-Cancel-200-Orders/first#post4433220

Update: Pertaining to #1… and this really is a big one! If you cancel 200 buy orders, all other buy orders are hidden indefinitely. So basically if you order more than 200 items you are screwed if you want to cancel them. This is a huge deal, I have atleast 400+ hidden buy orders that I would like to cancel but I can’t! If the market drops I’m SOL! Look at picture, I canceled all my items, or so it would seem, and yet items kept being bought…

Wanted to list out a couple bugs/annoyances with the new trading post. I hope a dev will see this and confirm these issues are being worked on.

1. Current Transactions Buying - If you have over 200 buy orders, you will only be able to view the most recent 200 orders. Anything older than the most recent 200 orders are hidden and impossible to cancel unless you cancel the orders in front of it. Even if you search by name item #201+ it comes up as “Sorry, no items match this filter.”

Example: If you have 400 orders, to view/cancel order 201-400, you must first cancel all of your most recent 200 orders.

This is a pretty big deal. On the old trading post I could order 1000+ items at a time, and always be able to view and cancel each and every item.
Image: http://s29.postimg.org/7u309n6mf/200_tp.png

2. Buy Order Cancellation - Once clicking the ‘Confirm’ button when canceling a buy order, the scroll bar goes back to the top of the search (default). This can be frustrating when trying to cancel multiple items towards the middle of your buy order list, and having to scroll back to where you left off each cancellation. Again this wasn’t an issue with the old trading post. Also when you click multiple different ‘Cancel’ buttons without confirming them, once you confirm one it turns all other ‘Confirm’ buttons back to ‘Cancel’.
Image: http://s14.postimg.org/nsrh8mhe9/default.png

3. Delivery Box - ‘Take All’ Button Freezing when taking 100 items. Very annoying, but reopening the trading post each 100 items fixes it. This was also not an issue with the old trading post. You used to be able to click the ‘Take All’ button until your inventory was full.

While the functionality of the new trading post is one of the only things I like about the feature patch, I do hope that these issues are fixed, and not ignored for 2 years like the old trading post.

New Patch is out.

For you gate haters.

  • Utility slot skills 2 and 3 now unlock at levels 17 and 19, respectively.
  • The elite slot skill now unlocks at level 31.
  • Elementalist F4 commands, mesmer F3 commands, and guardian F3 commands now unlock at level 17.
  • Mesmer F4 commands and engineer F4 commands now unlock at level 19.
  • Skill Challenges are now visible at level 13 instead of level 15.

Also a number of bugs including the diving goggles fixed.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-September-9-2014/4420127

This isn’t a fix. I’m even more disappointed they didn’t revert now… as it seems they are only slowly moving towards the goal. If you can make the goggles account bound, make all these account bound after your first character… or hell your first 2… I wouldn’t mind going through this system once or twice and never having to deal with it again, but your forcing us to deal with it indefinitely and there is no reason for that… there really isn’t.

This was a change that should have been done at release or not at all… especially not after 2 years.

Yeah… when you say hundreds, I assume you mean 200-500 tomes a month… I am almost level 50 pvp rank, after 5 months of playing an average of 3 matches a day… I have collected maybe 105 tomes in that time… so you would have to be playing dozens of matches daily to be obtaining 200+ tomes a month…

Honestly the point here isn’t to find a way of avoiding this horrible implementation. The point is to get it back to its former glory. This change was unnecessary. Using tomes of knowledge isn’t a fix to this issue.

If we’re actually going to have a thread discussing the NPE, can it actually be full of constructive criticism and suggestions instead of just rage and hyperbole? This thread looks like it’s already going south, so I hope this won’t be the place to talk about it.

….to late for that. It already is!.

I think it is very constructive to tell the developer that we really hate it, and hope they just stop with have all this gated level unlock.

The thing is some people just think it is a hate thread and nonconstructive.

Yes I truly don’t see the problem in expressing how much we dislike something. I don’t want to sugar coat it… I absolutely hate all the gated content added, and it was already noted how much we hated the trait system and they clearly didn’t get the message. I want them to know that I feel its unacceptable to keep any of the gated changes and level locking story content. It’s unnecessary and limiting what we can do in the game.

Trouble is, many of us existing players actually like complexity. That’s what keeps us making alts, keeps us trying new builds…

The NPE works directly against this. The trait change works directly against this.

There’s a fundamental mismatch here, and I’d love to hear ArenaNet talk about it. Or even acknowledge it…

Exactly… They are completely ignoring this to the core. I simply don’t get the logic here.

Other aspects of the NPE are being examined, and your constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Please Review-
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-On3Ya0_4Y#t
Notable Points:

  • Stat Burst: With the original lvling system, players would receive a small amount of stats each time they lvled, which made their character slowly get stronger each level. With the NPE changes, after lvl 4 the player will received a large chunk (or “burst”) of stats every 6 lvls.
  • Stat Slump: The problem is that the “stat burst” power did not come out of no where. The power is redistributed from prior levels. The result is that players feel weaker than they did before during certain windows of leveling. This is being remarked as the “stat slump”, which is typically 2 or 3 lvls prior to each threshold.
  • The problem: If a player tries to fight a creature 1/2 lvls higher than themselves, the “stat slump” complicates things. A lvl 9 creature is more powerful than a lvl 8; but a lvl 9 player is not necessarily more powerful than a lvl 8 one. This is because the stats come in bursts for players, but gradually for monsters. As a result, players are reporting that certain Personal Story missions are feeling much harder than they used to. This is a result of the “stat slump”, which is effectively making players feel lower level than they actually are.

Furthermore, when a player lvls up in an area they are downscaled in, there is a high chance they will actually become weaker. This is because downscaling will reduce their stats, and lvling up doesn’t necessarily increase them to offset it. While this has always been a possibility due to gear, it is now magnified due to base stats not increasing with each level.

This change to lvling is so fundamentally dysfunctional with how the rest of the game works that it really starts to raise questions in the confidence of ANet’s actual understandings of their systems. It’s likely it isn’t the entire company’s fault though, only a few powerful (and ignorant) people.

Poll: http://strawpoll.me/2555336/r
Out of 1500 Players 82% don’t agree with the new lvl system with a whopping 41% hating the new system, while only 8% actually like it… Over 5x as many people outright hate the system than actually like it. Your losing players everyday, voicing this system as “the nail in the coffin”. I’d link every topic but it would literally take me hours of digging through the forum and copying each one.

Anet they had over 10,000 testers who said the game was to hard and needed dumbed down to a level never seen before,

A good portion are probably mobile gamers. Instead of focusing on loyal players, the ones that advertise the game to others, they have instead chose to turn a blind eye to us. This makes it really hard for me to recommend the game to anyone in its current state as they clearly don’t care about players that actually care about the game.

  • Colin Johnson – Game Designer GW2
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU1JUwPqzQY&feature=youtu.be @ 1:18
‘When you play the combat in our game you say, "Wow that’s increadible! I’ve never seen anything like that!" Most games you go out and you have really fun tasks occasionally that you get to do, and the rest of the game is this boring grind to get to the fun stuff. {Sarcasm:“I swung a sword, I swung a sword again! Hey! I swung it again! That’s great!”} We just don’t want players to grind in GW2. Noone enjoys that, noone finds it fun, we want to change the way people view combat.’

So they pretty much go back on their vision and everything they stood for over the last 2 years… At the very least allow toggling leveling changes. There is nothing “New” or “Rewarding” from the new system. Please take it back and give me back my ability to play the game freely. It’s insulting and bad taste to even call it that.

How can you call crippling the early game abilities and putting them behind a level requirement a reward? Did you not learn from your China release!? How is locking story until your 10 levels up a reward? Or locking each and every aspect of the game behind level requirements going to help anyone? If anything you have made it harder for EVERYONE!

How could you not take into consideration the 50 page topic complaining about the trait system for 4 months?! (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Game-Updates-Traits/page/47#post4372835). And now this!?!

Extremely upset and disappointed… Disappointed you couldn’t stay true to your word. I’m done with alts or any characters before level 40… you absolutely ruined the new character experience that you claim to have focused on. For 2 years it was just fine, not sure what good came from these unnecessary changes.

Opinions aside, there are some bold-faced objective problems that have surfaced from their questionable implementations of the NPE. For example: The “stat burst” and the “stat slump.”

  • Stat Burst: With the original leveling system, players would receive a small amount of stats each time they leveled, which made their character slowly get stronger each level. With the NPE changes, after level 4 the player will received a large chunk (or “burst”) of stats every 6 levels. This was likely to make certain thresholds feel more rewarding and fun.
  • Stat Slump: The problem is that the “stat burst” power did not come out of no where. The power is redistributed from prior levels. The result is that players feel weaker than they did before during certain windows of leveling. This is being remarked as the “stat slump”, which is typically 2 or 3 levels prior to each threshold.
  • The problem: If a player tries to fight a creature 1 or 2 levels higher than themselves, the “stat slump” complicates things. A level 9 creature is more powerful than a level 8; but a level 9 player is not necessarily more powerful than a level 8 one. This is because the stats come in bursts for players, but gradually for monsters. As a result, players are reporting that certain Personal Story missions are feeling much harder than they used to. This is a result of the “stat slump”, which is effectively making players feel lower level than they actually are.

Furthermore, when a player levels up in an area they are downscaled in, there is a high chance they will actually become weaker. This is because downscaling will reduce their stats, and leveling up doesn’t necessarily increase them to offset it. While this has always been a possibility due to gear, it is now magnified due to base stats not increasing with each level.

This change to leveling is so fundamentally dysfunctional with how the rest of the game works that it really starts to raise questions in the confidence of ArenaNet’s actual understandings of their systems. It’s likely it isn’t the entire company’s fault though, only a few powerful (and ignorant) people.

This whole post adds in a lot of other issues. I went ahead and added it to the OP.

They worded this as a positive change and if you enjoy gated content then this is the build for you. However I bought the game on what they sold it as.
“Most games [have a] boring grind to get to the fun stuff. We just don’t want players to grind in GW2. Noone enjoys that, noone finds it fun, we want to change the way people view combat.”
To go back on those statements 2 years later and switch it up to what is more appeasing to their Chinese market is beyond me how people will support this practice.

Why gate the content, what is their to gain from gating content other than to create the very thing they are against.

It depends on how you define grind. Leveling isn’t a grind unless it takes 30 hours and 3000 critters to smite between levels. The one to two hours per level here is no where a grind.

Skill slot and weapon slot locking was always part of the game. If it takes the same amount of play time to unlock them now as before, then there is no change in the experience, just a number as to when that happens.

The weapon skill unlocks is a trade off between unlocking all weapons skills at the same time Vs unlocking the skills on the weapon you use. Before if you get a weapon drop of a different type that you would rather use, you had to unlock those skills, now if you have skill slots 2 and 3 unlocked on your original weapon, they are unlocked on this new one automatically. Can’t say which is a better solution to the weapons/skills problem.

In another thread I said that you always felt significantly weaker leveling a new alt simply because you aren’t fully equipped with exotics and your preferred selection of traits. But like the trait change we again have a “fall guy” to point at for that reason instead of our own cloudy memories of what it was like as a true level 8 than a down-leveled 80. We are newbs in swathing clothes rather than Gods who descended from Olympus.

And the combat comment wasn’t about grind but the non-rooting attacks and dodge defense as oppose to the stand your ground and wale on a critter hoping for someone to heal you during combat.

Its a grind compared to what the game once was… its level gated content that has no need to be gated. They claim its to help players ease into new abilities, but at the end of the day its gated content that leaves early game experience for all players old a new limited and a push for the fun stuff later. This is exactly what they said they would not do, and after 2 years its very clear why now they decided to do this… with a blind eye to NA/EU players, and their mission… its very clear why they did this… and why they tried to paint a pretty picture and slide in this bad system…

As a veteran starting from complete scratch, starting out in this game is extremely intimidating. It is so much harder to level now. It is ALOT more costly. And everything that was once free, is now a cash sink. If I wasn’t a veteran of the game, I probably would give up as a new player.

I feel you on that… I’m grateful to have a couple 80’s in the game… but sadly I really don’t have the motivation to level up any characters after the horrible NPE… I played from 1-20… and its just sickening what they tried to pass off as a “Rewarding” NPE… its a joke! If I was a fresh player at this point, I really don’t think I would be able to hold out from scratch. It’s really sad. What’s even more sad is players blindly supporting this garbage that’s essentially killing the game.

I’m watching people go to Archage… and I can’t even get my darn wife to jump in with me anymore… its really sad. She absolutely can’t stand it. Its really disappointing how excited I was for this patch, but after the facts were revealed… its really killed the game for me, and over a dozen of my close friends.

Way to snip what you want from what I said.

Its not an opinion. The fact is, the reward system is nothing short of rehash and a play on words. There really is no “Reward” from the experience other than gating content that was accessible for 2 years. The “New” experience is an annoyance at best, and an insult at worst.

Read the bold text… its people like you that get me banned from these forums… please open your eyes when your reading next time. It will help.

Read my bold text.

I don’t feel insulted or annoyed by the NPE yet from what little I have played. It has stayed mostly in line with my original leveling experience way back at the start of the game, sans a few pieces here and there.

Also, don’t be insulting. I’ve been polite all through posting this last week despite really feeling like being mean. You can at least do the same.

Your not being polite by snipping quotes. That’s insulting much in the same by what the devs have done, by calling this a “Rewarding” experience.

Yes, yes it is.

The “New” experience is an annoyance at best, and an insult at worst.

That is your opinion.

My opinion on the NPE’s feeling? I have to keep playing on it sometime later but so far it’s not been all that different than my first trek through the game short of the weapon unlocks. I’m seeming to level a little faster as I go through things, but . . . I have not yet felt hamstrung or held back any more than I did before when starting fresh.

So it’s a guarded “meh” from me.

See, this is my problem. People comment about the new patch without actually having tried the new patch. Here’s the reward for finishing the tutorial in the new patch, with the new guardian I just made to test it out.

It’s a mace, slightly better than the one you have when you start, to teach you to change weapons, just like I said. I know you don’t like that patch, but you really shouldn’t be talking about it unless you’ve tried it. That’s my objection to a lot of the stuff people having been saying. Much of it is demonstrably untrue.

Arenanet still hasn’t given me my free character slot so I can test out stuff like this without having to delete one of my existing characters.

Just sayin’

Then maybe you should refrain from talking about things easily disproven. Like the choice of weapon reward?

And while this wasn’t you, the person who was talking about “no more juveniles out in the starter area” . . . I found one in fifteen seconds in Wayfarer Foothills.

The list goes on of things which were talked about being locked or unavailble which could be proven false within an hour of starting a new character.

And there you have it, the amount of missinformation these people started spreading really begs a question what exactly is their goal.

or do they think they provide sime kind of feedback, but first rule of feedback would, i guess, be “know whadda hell youre talking about”, as what they provide is pretty much – just meaningless spam

Found juvenile in caledon forest (jaguar?) in lvl 7 area.

Just read the OP… it consist of real issues with key aspects of the game. If you choose to be blind, so be it.

The new system is suffocating and the reward often isn’t even a miniscule of additional breathing room, it’s smoke and mirrors rewards or giving you a crumb of the player experience they decided to hide behind level locks.

If reactions to these changes aren’t a litmus test between fan and blind devotee, I don’t know what would be.

The mental acrobatics needed to defend the system is amazing, I will give it that.

I also have to admit I have trouble believing the comments on how this was tested. They haven’t been able to manage a Public Test Realm in two years, exactly how, with whom and when did they manage to test a new system like this? If it is to be believed, then we must have to believe as well that they’ve actually tested most of the flawed or horrible changes to the game in the last year with secret beta testers and still managed to step in it at every possible opportunity?

As far as where it was tested and for whom it was developed, didn’t Collin state a while ago that the NPE was developed for China and was just now being adapted for the West? Now we are supposed to believe that it had nothing to do with China at all and it was just coincidental?

Official word on subjects of controversy have become as insulting to our intelligence as the NPE changes themselves. To say NPE was designed for 5-year-olds would be an insult to today’s tech savvy children.

It’s mind boggling.

Every word, very well said… Everyone needs to read this and understand it!

Not sure why my topic title keeps getting edited. I thought it was ok to express my opinion in a none offensive manner. I feel that this is not offense and more importantly factual to the point of the discussion. Please don’t remove “is a complete joke”… because it truly is a joke. A very sad and insulting one…

What is offensive and insulting and has no place in the game is calling this system you implemented ‘New’ and ‘Rewarding’ over the old system… It is the exact opposite of this. You have stripped out the hint system and gated content, calling it ‘rewarding’. You must be joking! You can have every single ‘reward’ I get from leveling, which are for the most part nothing new than what you started out with.

There is nothing “New” or “Rewarding” from the new system. Its complete trash… please take it back and give me back my ability to play the game freely.
