We are currently seeking a few members who are looking to get into raiding or are experienced, during the OCX timezone! We currently have 4 spots open we are looking to fill with dedicated members who are able to raid with us each week (excluding the occasional real life commitments).

Our raid days are:

Thursday & Friday – 9:00pm – 11:30pm AEDT

What we look for in players:
- Players who will be committed to raiding with us, clearing it as a guild.
- Players willing to learn and being able to multi-class
- Being friendly! Most of us are Australians and are pretty chill!
Requirements (if you are working towards these, we will be more than happy to talk to you as well!):
- Multi-classing or willing to multi-class
- Make raid days
- Ascended trinkets and weapons, armour a plus but needs to be worked towards.
- Run meta or close to meta builds (we have slight variations due to different strategies)

Yeah at the current moment my write up is quite clunky and too strict in how it is to be implemented, but a sort of upkeep is needed that doesn’t push it becoming a chore for scouts or having to force players back.

-Contesting/Tapping;

That seems to be a much better choice, colours will help identify and distinguish when a keep will be contested or not.

Hi Sviel,

Thanks for your time in reading and providing feedback on my ideas on WvW reformations. I had written what I felt would be the extreme limit to what I feel WvW should be, and toning down the mechanics and such tends to be easier than buffing.

-Maps;
I have always loved strategy games/RTS and felt that having unique maps like this would make things more interesting. I had spawned the idea from GW1 Kurzicks vs Luxon, where as you would push into enemy territory, it would be harder and tougher to break defenses, obtain supply or get reinforcements. Where all 3 servers are even, it can shuffle around the colours on a much regular basis, and can provide more variety in strategy in how guilds and servers cooperate. But this wouldn’t help in all circumstances where there is lack of cooperation or guilds that prefer fights over more PPT play. But I see your point in standardised maps suiting more needs overall.

-Shrines;
Probably one of the areas I hate the most. I’ve never liked the thought of having them in the game, much apart from them providing extra options. I had written what I felt shrines should be if it was to be kept in, where it allowed smaller groups to fight over the shrines while a keep as being assaulted. Of course the problem arises in imbalanced timezones.

-Additional spawn locaton;
The idea had stemmed from having access to behind enemy lines, but a possible disadvantage would be it is much harder to take objectives if you have not taken previous objectives around the upper objectives. This could also be a top tier upgrade to prevent major usage if you cannot hold your side keeps.

-Supply and Objectives;
The intention of attrition was not to put much more pressure on the defense, but rather have a system where your borderland had to be maintained and having supply camps captured. My thought was that it can be unfair for the defending team to sit on max supply until they get attacked and forget about their supply camps. This would allow smaller roaming groups or scouts to move around and maintain their borderland. The attrition rate will be low enough, for example 10 supply every 15mins, a dolyak reaching the keep would give 70 (140 when upgraded), thus 105mins of attrition = 1 dolyak.

-Lookout Tower;
I think the use of camera angles like in spectator PvP mode could work with interacting panels, but still a big work in progress on how it should work and what you should be able to see. But I do like the idea of having a sort of gaint scouting tower to provide more intel when used.

-Garrison lord;
Yeah this one is a tough one. The Alpine borderland was a bit too easy, and the current ones seem to be in an alright spot. I just feel there has to be something else to aid the defending team, in an NPC or passive sort of way for main keep that doesn’t force the enemy to be deterred.

-Outnumbered and Overnumbered;
Overnumbered was probably a bit extreme, and from a community standpoint, yeah it will cause issues with militia or other smaller guilds that tip the balance. A rework I had commented on the Reddit thread was to divide the map up in invisible quandrants, and provide some sort of buffs when necessary for outnumbered and overnumbered.

-Contesting and Tapping;
Having someone walk up to a gate, hit it and run away shouldn’t contest a keep’s waypoint for 3mins. The system used where the first 30s would not show white swords was decent and you had to have scouts, so in that time if the game calculates there hasn’t had enough damage done to the gate, it won’t contest, but as soon as it reaches the threshold, the white swords do pop up. The colour idea is actually great and could more useful for scouts.

-Guild Buffs;
I see you point. I haven’t had much use on the banners, but definitely both them and buffs need something less direct and more utility like you said. The amount of PvE mechanics I had put in can be a bit much, and this is probably an area that can be cut in favour for more interesting mechanics for players.

-PPT;
The bonus points are currently placeholders, but I think removing the retaking home boarderlands shouldn’t be in there now. The idea is if a server is willing to attempt to take everything, they should be rewarded as in more even matchups, this becomes very hard and rare to do so, sort of like an optional mega achievement to do that can be fun and frustrating.
Possibly can inverse the amount of PPT given, where it is half of WXP to help reduce the impact it will have on PPT, since it should have a majority ratio on the PPT calculations. The current 1 PPT (2 for stomp) seems fine also and would be the standard if kept in.
Yes, the idea for 1v20, is when that 1 person dies, it only gives PPT once and not 20×.

Hey all!

I’m Stalker Ryc, guild co-leader of Eternal Phalanx [EPX] based on Fort Aspenwood. Most of those reading this won’t know who I am and probably not my guild, but in the past we have been a main OCX guild on Fort Aspenwood. I have played WvW from a few months after launch up until HoT got released, and have countless hours of all forms of WvW and commanding, and the motivation to play any WvW is non-existent due to a huge number of reasons that we see in complaint posts.

With the incoming WvW ideas and changes coming out of ArenaNet, possibly later this month with a beta version, I thought I would throw my hat into the ring about how I see WvW should be, the issues with the current state and parts that need to be desperately fixed. I have had worked on this a few months prior to HoT, but held off to see the full changes, and recently have revisited it to edit and add onto what I had previously written, especially since balancing WvW is balancing not only the in-game economy but the PvEvP format.

The standpoint I take on WvW tends to be both open field fights as well as PPT/siege mechanics, where a good mix of both make a more fun gameplay. GvG is still in a rough spot and it is still difficult to find a good way to add it in without disrupting the flow of a 24/7 game mode, so I had not written to include it in WvW, apart from how it is conducted now in the Obsidian Sanctum/Guild Halls.

Raids are here! [EPX] Eternal Phalanx is seeking a few members who are looking to get into raiding during the OCX timezone! EPX is a small, tight-knit community that has a relaxed approach to our community with members from across the world, with our main base in Australia.

We are currently seeking between 3-5 players to have guaranteed numbers for a full raid group. Our raid time is set at Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 8:30PM AEDT (Sydney Time) and Sunday from 9:30pm AEDT (Sydney Time).

We don’t fully force players to play meta builds or classes they are unfamiliar with or dislike, but recommend and advise some builds that would aid in better gameplay.

What we are looking for:

- Dedicated players who enjoy playing in a social and community environment
- Players willing to learn and take part in the challenging and hard content

Requirements:

- Discordapp (We will provide link to our server if you plan on joining us)
- Ascended Trinkets and Weapons/Legendary Weapons. Armour non essential, but will be required in future released Raids.

Raid Team Openings:

- Any Condition/Viper (Condi Engineer highly regarded)

Guild Rush Incorrect Time & GMs Response

When you click “Launch Guild Rush” it already starts the timer, even without planting the flag at the beginning of the Rush. With the new system change of having to do this, you need to gather all at the start then click launch AND interact with the start location to get the full time, otherwise the timer will go off the time remaining in the guild panel from when you clicked “Launch”.

If there is another guild doing it at the same time, join in, as someone from your guild needs to say “Accept Completion” or something similar pop-up.

It would be great if there was a warning message that stated, the mission clock will start counting down even when your guild is not present. Also, the “Accept Completion” message did not appear for us when we helped other guilds with their Guild Rush. People have stated that after HoT, Anet disabled the ability for another guild to get credit during Guild Rush.

Yeah Anet do need to add a warning system or somehow configure it to start when interacting with the start location like the old way.

For “Accepting Completion” that has worked at the start of HoT for us, but could have broken in the past week or so, haven’t ran into other guilds doing it at the same time as mine.

You don’t add it up, its telling you to unlock that skill/trait and everything before it costs that much, ie if you click on “Glyph of Unity” it will cost you 250 HP from having put 0 HP into Druid. You also have to unlock it in order, going clockwise.

getting the same issue here, i have a rune appeared in my crafting tree, but its blank and adds no stats or anything.

That rune is Superior Rune of the Earth, think Anet misplaced it’s link for the moment.

I have completed the story and received the “Recipe: Machined Weapon Core”, which had a requirement of 400 of any of the armour crafters (Armoursmithing, Leatherworker, Tailor). Initially I thought it was weird for the armour crafters to get a Weapon recipe, but I consumed it. I went to check it out at the station and the recipe was not there (and yes I am 500 leatherworker).

I’m wondering if this is a bug or has not yet been connected to the crafters. I’m assuming this recipe is needed to craft the Machined weapons for the Elite Specialisation collection.

At what time roughly would the servers be taken down on Thursday besides “morning” as middnight Thursday is 6pm in most east coast cities in Australia and would like to have a last fun rally. Also it seems from the post, WvW will be down until reset is meant to happen on Saturday to prepare the new maps?

Yes gate tappers can seem annoying, and I’ve had this system in mind that could help prevent a single player attack to cause it to become contested.

Still using the 30s rule for a keep to be visibly contested, it should be at the same time as a WP. Within a 30s period, if a keep takes X amount of damage, it will instantly become contested and the WP will be locked out for the 3min duration. For example, lets say 1000 damage is the limit:

1s: 0 damage
2s: 0 damage
3s: 0 damage
4s: 0 damage
5s: 0 damage
~
25s: 50 damage auto attack
26s: 50 damage auto attack
27s: 50 damage auto attack
28s: 50 damage auto attack
29s: 50 damage auto attack
30s: 50 damage auto attack
31s: 13000 damage ram

So for the first 30s, the keep will not show as contested as it has not taken 1000 damage , however the second after it is hit by a ram hit of 13000 damage , thus instantly becomes contested at the ram hit.
If lets say they auto attacked for 30s at 50dmg a second, that would equate to 1400 damage and the keep would become contested at the 20s mark.

Possible issues with this system is a player can calculating the damage done to avoid contesting keeps, however taking out a gate/wall this way is extremely inefficient.

[Suggestion] Player activated Siegerazer

With the new change to Siegerazer being activated at 5 players, it is very easy for any small group to activate him as soon as you walk forward from the Waypoint.

While yes, when organised and trying to hide the number of forces you have on entering the map, you can avoid the area that activates Siegerazer, however sometimes militia or those not knowing of the plan can accidentally activate him.

What I suggest is Siegerazer has a counter in his buff bar, until 5 people talk to him to activate him (in a dialogue box, clicking something like “Yes, we are ready to move out”) he remains in spawn.

Not only would this help save servers using Siegerazer and avoid him standing in front of the tower doing nothing.

An issue I can see with this is that if the counter is not account bound, then one person can burn the counter with multiple characters, or the character shares a buff with Siegerazer until it hits 5 or they leave map.

Read the Wind - my two alternatives

I had 2 alternatives in mind.

1. Your arrows have an X% chance to become unblockable.
This could even be 100% with no cooldown to avoid the specific situations where classes will be blocking.

2. Each longbow hit inflicts an extra stack of Vulnerability for 2s.
This will help increase our DPS over the long term in all aspects of gameplay.

Would like others thoughts on these, as I have made up numbers on what seems powerful for a GM trait, but also not overpowered compared to other classes.

Official-New Traits

I do like how Anet have brought back a GW1 skill name into GW2, but all I like about this “Grandmaster” trait stops there.

The biggest problem I see with this is it’s only focusing on longbow, and by only buffing its velocity speed. This is just laughable. Compared to the rest of the revealed traits where it really shows off a component of the class, we’re left with one and only trait that will have a minimum impact. This skill seems it is only for sPvP and small WvW roaming. Longbow in PvE and Zerg v Zerg, it makes no difference how fast the arrows travel.

If Anet wants to focus on longbow, why not change it to something more Marksman related, “Your arrows have an X% chance to become unblockable”. This seems more fair and logical, especially when it comes to PvP, and some elements on PvE. This allows rangers to have a chance to bypass some blocking skills, while increasing DPS for a situational scenario.

Another alternative is “Your longbow skills inflict an additional stack of Vulnerability for 2s”. This would overall increase the DPS of a Ranger, for all forms of content.

I do hope the other Grandmaster traits for the Ranger are not as disappointing as this revealed trait.

I’m Stalker Ryc; co-leader of Eternal Phalanx [EPX], an OCX guild on FA. We are a friendly and mature PvX guild.

We have members from all around the world, with about 15-20 players online during the OCX/SEA period. Our members do a range of content from world bosses, living story content, WvW, and the occasional dungeons as most of our playtime is limited. We have Guild Mission night on Tuesday nights at 9pm AEDT.

We also have our own TS3 that we use for Guild Missions, WvW raids, and general guild use.

1: Muddy Terrain becomes unblockable

2: Introduction of preparations that add conditions to your weapon attacks, would love to see it similar to GW1 style based on time, as this will sync well with Quickening Zephyr and multiple hit weapon attacks.

I think you may be remembering the Windy Cave, although it has shadow imps rather than flame elementals. The rest of your description fits.

Trying to Remember a Hidden Cave

About 1 month after release I found this cave, except the only problem is I can’t remember which zone or where it is exactly. All I remeber is the cave had sort of a jumping puzzle feel with ooze, spiders and I think it was flame elementals. The flame elementals were in a sort of zig zag path that went I-l_l with a veteran or champion flame elemental in the middle of the path. I do not believe it is part of any of the jumping puzzle achivements.
The cave is not located in Orr, Shiverpeaks or Ascalon.
Would be grateful if anyone had any information, I would like to complete it if there is an end to it.
