Crumbs of Mystery – d/d, sylvari. (She leaves crumbs of various elements everywhere, later people and even Crumbs herself are like… what are these crumbs on me? Rocks, or ice… bits of burnt clothing, etc.) Inspired by my dismay at the usual state of my keyboard… “what are these weird crumbs on my keyboard? cat dander? bagel?” etc. Crumbs is my favorite character, in playstyle and back story.
Ah it must be EOTM because I am having the same problem tonight. Can go anywhere else. When I try to load up a character that I have tried to get into EOTM this evening, I too get that loading screen and error.
I look forward to hearing any news. Recently it has crashed during boss fights, I got booted from Teq right when we won and of course came back to an empty map. Crashing in WVW. Tonight the frame rate became so slow it was unusable.
I quit out of all other programs, checked for anything weird using Activity Monitor. Started it up again and it was still super slow both in PVE and WVW. So bummed. (The WVW tournament lured me to finally put my toe in the water and I love it! Just wish I could play.)
Tonight’s slowness was on a previously not-as-bad
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Previously this week I was playing on a borrowed machine to see if I want to buy a PowerBook Pro with Retina screen. This was a brand spanking new one with 16gb of ram, etc. It was faster but whooo whee it crashed a lot in group fights. Part of the reason I want a new machine is to run GW2 better but… was not confident with all the crashing.
Thanks for any updates!

Seeing that you may go off to play an alt with someone, Chris, gives me hope! User Experience, feel the POWAH!
Chris i’d like to play on my new alt with you, but your inbox is full so I can’t send you a PM.
Clearing inbox now.
Chris
So I just went through using a level 20 scroll after I tried to log into my level 7 Mesmer. Every level unlocked something really important, like Asura gates (they came really late in the process, like.. level 18?!) Skill points! Vistas? This is terrible. Those were all the things I loved doing as a fresh noob. Being able to do those things right away, to go to different starting zones, to earn weapons skills by using the actual weapons… those are what made me love this game. It really set it apart. It feels more confusing and boring now, and more like you are being punished for being new, than being “rewarded.” The rewards came from being bold enough to explore, not afraid to die learning your weapons… so sad.
Yeah those Back Lion achievements are confusing the heck out of me, too. I thought I must have accidentally deleted skins when I was new to the game and got really depressed. Then realized that there were a bunch of skins on the achievement list that I knew I had never gotten.
Are there any mentors out the on ET who would help noobs transition from PVE to WVW? Or would that screw things up? I enjoy a scrappy fight…
I didn’t have much gold but used this and it worked just fine, super fast to max out. Now I can move onward to more chef recipe discoveries, still very enjoyable!
Just chiming in on a couple of ideas mentioned earlier.
1. Extra Emotes: One of the things that I really loved about the French MMORPG Dofus was their system for getting emotes. It mostly involved teaming up with other folks to solve puzzles. You’d have to get like 5 people to all stand in a certain configuration on a board of many rock slabs. Or you’d have to have one person pull a lever so the others could get in. Some you could do alone but you’d have to answer a series of riddles and then be in a certain place at midnight server time…. so much fun. The group ones always got all sorts of random folk together and fast friendships would form.
2. Test server with real players for usability/UX testing before rolling out a release – if Anet doesn’t do this already, I highly recommend this! Always reveals so many unexpected and interesting issues and gives you time to ponder and tweak. Fresh eyeballs = good. Gathering a large pool of players to do that and then splitting it up (one chunk of folks test in one cycle, a different chunk the next, etc, etc.) I’m pretty new here so apologies if that already exists.
What Khisanth said – just plan on sticking around and playing over and again until you get he achievement. By the time mine finally rolled around I was actually getting better at playing, so yay for achievements…
