A lot of this has already been stated but it never hurts to reiterate good points.
1. Stability fix – The pirate-ship meta is boring/stale. I’m not sure if reverting stability back to what it was is the best fix or if should be adjusted, but something needs to be done. I shouldn’t have enough time to stare at the other team from across a choke point to make tea and come back to be just fine. Ideally I’d like to see a split between how skills work in PvP/PvE/WvW.
2. Bring back the Alpine map while the DBL map is being “fixed ” or a new map is being made. It is obvious time was spent on the new maps and they are lovely to look at, they just do not function properly. A lot of suggestions have been made regarding the DBL map and while this is being worked on, just give us the Alpine Maps back. Sure they had their problems, but I’d take Alpine over Desert any day. I miss the garrison fights, trying to bust into a fortified inner hills across the bridge, and or taking NE/NW tower to prepare for the garrison attack. Those were far more engaging and fun than the running simulator/gimmicky Desert BL map.
3. Rewards – WvW has very little reward incentive beyond the fun you get from playing it (roaming/havoc/zerging/quggan jumping/whatever). Beyond that, PvE is more profitable/rewarding and PvP has its own reward track as well. WvW actually had a “mastery” track before the rest of the game with wvw rank, but nothing was done with this in HoT and one of the most useful masteries was never added to WvW – hello auto-loot. I have all these “wvw rank points” that I can do absolutely nothing with besides accumulating more of them. WvW is the middle child no one wants to give anything to.
4. HoT Gimmicks – Banners/Airship/Chilling Fog/Iron Hide – I honestly do not know why these were ever added to the game. I understand that trying to take a keep should be difficult not near impossible. It’s already sieged up with Arrow Carts/Shield Generators at every corner and choke now let’s throw in chilling fog and let’s make the beefed up lord take 30 mins to kill with Iron Hide if you can manage to break the choke. Oh look they now have two Dragon Banners in their zerg which just all respawned because they used the emergency waypoint.
5. Population/Scoring –. Population imbalance and the scoring I think are tied together. People like to flock to “strong” servers winning the PPT game, no matter how players/servers try to advocate “balancing.” The game has been out for a while and WvW has been bleeding for just as long. It’s currently on life support and this needs to be looked at seriously. People have been giving feedback on this for years.
This is kind of a shame to hear, one less mission doable for my team.
But glad to hear it’s no longer going to be an issue for future guilds.
Any particular reason for its removal? Or was it due to this bug?Might want to have such reflected in the patch notes as well in case some get confused by its disappearance.
I’m not sure if this is the main reason why but I am hoping it is. Since the launch of HoT most people who WvW on a regular basis had no particular like for the Oasis event and in fact hated it. This was because any time the event triggered it caused the entire map to have horrid lag, no matter where you were. There was already a distaste for this big PvE event in the middle of a WvW map and then couple it with the lag. More often than not instead of encouraging fights (which I THINK might have been what the intention was behind this event) it caused people to avoid fighting and instead just wait it out until some server finished it so you could actually start playing again without the crippling lag.
I am super happy to see it gone! Best update today and it wasn’t even in the patch notes.
They patched RTL and other skills that could be used mid-air because of WvW. Druids were the main culprits but they could use GS leap — switch to staff mid air – and use Ancestral Grace to get into towers/keeps bypassing those pesky walls/gates. This was for both inner and outer. A few other classes could do this as well hence the reaction of all skills that could possibly do similar being nerfed instead of maybe just putting up invisible walls.
I rarely post on the forums. It’s usually either full of white knights or people who only complain. Such is the nature of pretty much any forum for any game. But I think a bunch of people, mainly those who play primarily PvE, seem to have a misconception regarding WvW.
WvW is the main game mode that I play. Do I play other game modes? Yes. Why? Sometimes there is nothing going on in WvW. Sometimes I need gold and I definitely cannot get that in WvW. Sometimes I just want to do some PvP. But the reason I keep coming back to this game is for WvW and the enjoyment that comes from playing that game mode.
I have a bunch of alts, why? Because I do not like switching gear between my various builds. I have builds for roaming across all professions and for zerging/team comps. Switching gear back and forth is just a pain in the butt so it was much easier to make an alt. Rewind to spring of this year I could level with tomes to 80 then use scrolls of knowledge for the skills I needed. Then I just needed to get the gear, which was easy to get/make on ANY of my characters to give to my fresh level 80. I never once had to step foot in PvE or even PvP as you could get tomes from your daily log in rewards/keep capture daily, just took longer to save up. Now it’s a complete reversal of what had been in the game. THAT is what is bugging me the most. Anet had no problem with letting us insta-level toons and get all the necessary skills without having to “play them” or set foot in any other game mode.
The Proofs of Heroics were a good idea. They give WvW an option to earn HPs without having to go into PvE. Is it faster to just hop into the HoT maps, yes. Getting all 250 HPs through heroics is time consuming. Especially if you have a limited amount of time to play due to work and family. I want to play my herald but I have to get 100 more HP points. I have about 3 hours each night to play once the kids go to bed, and I’d like to play in WvW. I can’t play on my revenant though as my guild group needs an elementalist or a guardian so I’m not going to handicap them by bringing my Heraldless rev. So now my Rev will sit there until I finally have time to run into the HoT maps to glide around mindlessly doing HPs or mindlessly ktraining it up in EotM even though I will be earning rank up chests running with my guild most nights. At least I can get sup siege to donate to my commander. But a little tear will fall down my cheek for that Herald that is still not unlocked for every ram, cata, ballista, treb, and disco ball I buy with those soulbound proofs.
It would be awesome if this was retroactive. I know they said they do not want us to stockpile…but PvEers are already stockpiling HPs mapping anyways. It’s not like they can take those away. Would it be so hard to give 1 scroll for each wvw rank you have? It still requires you have the necessary badges of honor and those ranks have been earned over an extended period of play much like mapping on numerous toons/alts.
Regardless, this is a nice change and offers a choice that we previously did not have.
I run during NA but occasionally when I wake up really early or they wake up early, I get to run with FXN. They are absolutely wonderful! Really an asset to CD and amazing at homeland defense.
I know there are a few guilds on CD who are currently recruiting for zerg busting/GvG. Let me post some links for you. I’ve come across all these guilds during NA prime and every single one jumps right into a fight regardless if its 15 vs 40. They’ve also all participated in GvGs and are working on their core.

You can also check out Crystal Desert’s community website for more info on guilds and just to get a feel for the community there. Regardless, have fun on the battlefield wherever you go! o/
TFH are some amazing people to run with and I enjoy seeing them in the borderlands. Plus Cornchips voice is just amazing! <3
Hi there agentmooncat! I’ve been on CD since beta and I love it here. Our wvw community is a fun bunch and I laugh more during raids than I prolly should. I also know we have some great roaming guilds such as TKVA and GDAM. We also tend to have a good range of opponents to fight which makes it super interesting.
Shiri already mentioned it but please check out the CD community website www.crystal-desert.com to get a better feel for us and maybe set up a ts chat. Cannot wait to talk to you more!
The one NA guild on an EU server I know about is NUDE. Amber is pretty kitten awesome and I know CD misses her to pieces.
If you haven’t checked them out, I’d suggest it.

TIME are a fun group to be a part of and I enjoy seeing them around wvw and the rest of the maps.
Much love! <3
The CD wvw community had a blast during seasons and are looking forward to the match-ups to come. Come check us out for an awesome wvw experience.
Great guild! CD loves facing IoJ because we know we get to face PR. <3
Bump for a great guild! Narcoticx is an amazing wvw commander and everyone in the guild are just kitten awesome.
Dewey has some pretty solid advice! I might also recommend checking out the CD forums and looking at the guild recruitment threads or giving a shout out in the WvW section on there. http://crystal-desert.com/index.php
Some guilds I know that run during that time – VOW, SoV, PA, PR, PS, ICE
Some recruitment links I found for ya!

I’ve been on CD since beta and have loved ever minute of it! I love the community and the commanders/guilds who helped me from my wvw early days to where I am now.
I even bake cupcakes for the commanders I like. Well I say I will and then I make them for myself and never share. But its the thought that counts.
Bump for an awesome guild. Always on and having fun with guildies.
Love everyone on CD. Awesome community and tons of fun.

Looking for a guild? You might belong here!
We are Binary Alliance [BA]… a casual, mostly PvE guild but occasionally we like to kill stuff now! dip into WvW and sPvP. Most of our members are sarcastic muggles/punks/crazies in their 20’s and 30’s who like to joke around and have a good time while gaming.
What makes us special? In all seriousness, our biggest concerns are compatibility and community. When recruiting, we like to find people who are a good fit for our guild – that means fun, friendly, casual and willingness to be team players. Legendary weapons, map completion, and achievement points are not how we judge applicants – serious, leet-core gamers do not get preferential treatment.
We recruit in small batches, interview new applicants and get to know people before giving them full membership.
We care about who we recruit and therefore don’t accept all applicants. This doesn’t mean that people we reject are bad players, but it simply means that they aren’t the right fit. Please don’t mistake this for elitism – our occasional little “struggle squad” has been known to fall flat on our collective face, but we pride ourselves in having a kitten fun time while doing it.
The basics:
Small-ish PvE guild on Crystal Desert (North America based)
Runs tons of dungeons and fractals
Most active in the evenings across Eastern, Central, and Pacific US timezones
We have a website/forum (www.binary-alliance.com) and TeamSpeak3 server
Female / LGBT / Everything friendly
New and Veteran players welcome
Age 18+ preferred (though maturity is a fair substitute)
If you are still interested in joining us, please feel free to contact our recruitment officers in game:
Vorago Wisteria (Vorago.3651 or vorago@binary-alliance.com)
Mirianda Winter (Dorothy.5927)
Moonstone Moth (SagaHarbinger.1706)
Thanks!
Hi Adbo!

Hi Graftonx!
Binary Alliance might be right up your ally! We are located on the marvelous Crystal Desert server and we are a guild focused on community and having fun with all aspects of the game. We currently do far more PvE than anything else in the game but do have members that dabble in PvP and WvW. Usually have about 20ish members active during the evenings and weekends. I’ll post our recruitment info below and hope to hear from you.

We are still recruiting on the lovely Crystal Desert server. Some new events planned for the future
-Mapping Madness: A guild wide event to complete mapping one area and also have fun while doing. We have fun doing random mini events with mystery prizes, such as who can duel the angry chickens in Ebon Hawke the longest, naked of course. ;p
-Darts Competition: Who can jump the farthest from the corpse? Only time will tell.
-We are actively looking to help our community out in WvW cause we love everyone there.
Give either Vorago or me a whisper for more info!
Hi there,
Binary Alliance is a guild of friends and fun lovers on Crystal Desert. We’re mostly in our 20s and 30s, laid back, and enjoy playing all parts of the game. We pride ourselves on being able to have a great guild culture where we can all have fun while still demonstrating great skill. We tend to be a little bit more PvE active currently, but are very into the fun of the various forms of PvP as well. WE usually do dungeon runs most nights, do not have a particular set dungeon that we do. It depends on guild member needs. Most of us are fairly low level for fractals ranging from level 6-12 for the most part.
We have a website ( www.binary-alliance.com ), TS3 server, and an environment where people get to know each other and become friends (instead of just some random people you bump into on occasion).
We’re currently a smaller guild (but active!) and looking to recruit. We do have about 35-45 active members, so that is under the 50-100 that you mentioned in your post. We don’t want to get too large as we want to maintain our close and friend-oriented atmosphere, but getting into a more “medium” size range would be perfect.
If you’re interested, please feel free to check out our website and/or simply get ahold of me. I am reachable in-game (SagaHarbinger.1706) or via email (officers@binary-alliance.com).
Thank you,
We all have tons of fun together. This weekend will be the first large guild event; a scavenger hunt across Tyria.

Currently we have a bunch of members that are working on various alts and characters that would be able to help as you level. All classes are equally played in the guild and we can certainly help with tips/tricks of the trade.

Hey Kailinxa,
Binary Alliance is a gaming community (we play other games in addition to Guild Wars 2) of friends. We all get to know each other, have fun (it’s our top priority!), and aim to excel at whatever task is at hand.
We tend to be PvE focused, but mix it up in our share of sPvP and WvW as well. Dungeon runs are very common and we are more than willing to help out getting that armor/weapon set you want for your character. (The guild ran a bazillion AC runs for me so I would not be such a squishy ele. ;p)
Our numbers are currently on the smaller side, but we’d love to talk with you to see if we are a good fit. We are located on the Crystal Desert server and we have Teamspeak set up for all our chatting needs. Most of our players are either in Eastern or Central timezone, about the same time that you seem to play.
Please feel free to send me a message in game, my main is Moonstone Moth for a whisper and you can add my account to your friends list.
Thanks in advance,
Moonstone Moth
