Automated medical response is not procing at 25% more like 10% or lower. Also fails to reset the cool down on overcharge turret making the heal worthless.

Turret engi underpowered! Suggested buff

Turrets are not op at all. They can die if you and three teammates focus them down. I mean sure one or two of you might die but the turrets might go down. I think it’s important that people understand the real injustice. Spirit Rangers ai moves with them, necro minions do the same. Thus it is unfair that turrets can’t do so as well. I think that turrets should follow the ENGI around, it’s only fair.

Rock Dog or Tropical Bird better?

Me and some friends have made a rock dog and a bird fight, bird wins mostly. The bird also follows people longer and is harder to see in a fight. It also attacks faster than the dog. Ogre gives better stats for dps though. Either works

The thing to consider in gw2 on the matter of skill level is that there are two different kinds of skill.
Mechanical skill
And game mode skill

Mechanical skill can be further broken down into two category’s

Class skill: how well you know and can play a particular class( such as knowing rotations, combos, cd management, bursting, surviving) being able to identify how well you do these in 1vX situations is a way to measure part of your skill level.

General skills: skills that are not particular to a certain class.( dodging and kiting)
Dodging in particular is a critical measure of a good player. Being able to predict and dodge skills crucial to another classes burst rotation is essential in staying alive and defeating your enemies. Also being able to kite multiple enemies around an area to Los damage is an indicator of a good player.

Secondly there are game play skills

Even if a player has achieved a high level of mechanical skill, if the player lacks game play skills they are lacking as a player.

These skills include:
Map Rotation
Positioning
Focusing
Downstate

Map rotation is critical to being a good player, and for many the hardest skill to master. One must remember that in gw2 pvp is a 5v5 capture point system. Knowing where to be when can be the difference between winning and losing an objective. Map awareness is key, be able to quickly identify where your teammates are fighting , the number of enemies at the fight and the stays of the fight( winning/ losing). Rotating into a fight where three of your teammates are fighting 2 enemies and winning is a bad rotation, odds are somewhere else on the map you could be more useful. It’s being able to make quick correct rotations that mark a good player.

Focusing is a crucial part of winning team fights. Being able to choose a target and keep your teams main cc and damage on the target til it does is important . Also being able to identify who on your team is taking focus and assisting them is crucial to winning a team fight as well.

Positioning: this is key in group fights. Knowing where to be within a fight can make the difference between dying or living. If you are a class that will die to aoe or focus quickly, then it makes no sense to run face first onto the point or into a group of multiple players. Often sides will develop in a team fight, there will be more survivable players tanking it out through aoe trying to gain ticks on the point, and other players further back casting or ranging to the fight, and finally players trying to get through to the back line players to kill them. Positioning all depends on your build.
As a survivable built player(d/ d cele ele, bunk guard, warrior, ect ) your job is to prevent the point from being captured or if that role is taken is to be a frontline into the opposing sides back line. If you are a back line player( engi, necro, ect) your job is to pressure the target and to provide the main source of damage without over extending to your target and leaving yourself open to the other side. Then there are thieves and similar built bursty/ mobile classes. These are back line players who can put immense pressure out on a target but if caught will die very easily. Positioning is very important for all players but essential for these players.

Finally there is downstate. Knowing when to cleave a body down or to stomp it is important, especially when there are two players down (an enemy and a teammate) handling this wrong can quickly turn a fight. Calling out stomps and saving cool downs for stomping can help increase the chance of a good stomp. Also knowing that the other team will try to revive their fallen, having everyone stomp or just leave a stomper can end badly, bodies are good chances to land massive dps on readers who will be still for the duration of the stomp. Also, be prepared to revive your fallen teammates as soon as they drop. If you are going to drop call it out to your team and position yourself so your team can save you easily.

Torch Torch thief would be great, second to only rifle Mesmers. Anet needs to see just how good these two things would be for the game.

Is engi. Actually OP or is just me?

in PvP

Posted by: Scaredycat.7153

Scaredycat.7153

The only OP part of engi is it’s abuse of burn. Incen powder with p/p and balth is just overkill, it’s close to impossible to not land a burn on the target with that setup and even if they cleanse there are so many sources of application. Once burn and posoin(another condi that has an abundance of applicators) the rest is all overkill, soft cc with chill imob and cripple paired with stealth immune and a block make engi very hard to kill in a straight up condi set up. On the other hand in a cele setup it’s more of an abuse of engis natural hybrid damage ,healing and cc that make it a hard fight. Both builds are “op” in certain regards but also have their own weaknesses. Both builds can be played skillfully and do well and also unskillfully and do well in respect to fighting other classes played by more skillfull players. In summary, POWER ENGI OR GET OUT.

As a player with over 15,000 matches, about 12,000 hj matches, of which about 9,500 are wins, it is my experience there are a few thing that can be done to win consistently:
1. Be good: it’s not good enough to be good at 1v1s in hot join, you have to be good at fighting in groups and against groups. A large amount of players will tend to choose to “Zerg” instead of play smart.
2. Play with friends: bring one or two friends with you who are good and this way you are likely to control the flow of a Zerg and have better odds of not being zerged.
3. Volunteer: if your team is zerging it is likely people on the other team will quit take the chance and volunteer to the other side, free win.
4. Be able to quickly judge other players skill level: if you are unable to follow #2, make quick judgements on the skill level of the players in the match and try to be on their team.
The most important thing is to have fun. Even if you don’t win if you are playing with friends you will have fun. My friends and I don’t even try to win, we just slaughter the other side into rage quitting and win anyway.

Tell me how it’s fair that those like me who where high rank post patch get our rank points taken away from us for no reward and given even less reward then those who did much less work. Giving the loyal pvp players a reward for once instead of taking things away would be nice for a change. And how is it selfish? Anyone can get rank. 80. Now. It would be an incentive for those who are not rank 80 Yet. Also, the heart of the mists is for PvP players in the first part.

Scaredycat.7153

As a r80 PvPer, I think that having a gated area by rank that contains at the least a bank in the heart of the mists is a fair idea. This would not only serve as a further reward to those who are dedicated to pvp, but also be a fair trade off for not paying way point fees . The current pvp reward system , although improved, is lacking . Pre rank system update patch, the rank system required exponentially more work for significantly less reward. The patch stole many hours worth of rank points from higher rank players, without rewarding them. For instance, a player who was rank 54. Pre patch would be boosted to 80, receiving chests for the 26 level difference. However a player who was 64, would only recive 16 chests even though the rank point difference between. 54-64 is around 1million rank points and about 4 months of play. Adding any addition privileges for r80s who put in a lot of time and effort to be cheated of their work would be appreciated.

Engie who use elite crate in 1vs1 =noob?

in Engineer

Posted by: Scaredycat.7153

Scaredycat.7153

As a player who has PvPed since launch in over 14,500 matches,4,500 of which are on engi, the use of crate is totally dependent on the situation. In competitive Tpvp crate is a valuable cd for team fighting or other win or lose situations. In 1v1 situations or in Spvp the liberal use of crate however does not mean the player lacks skill. Crate is part of being an engi as stances are to warrior, litch is to necro, and all other skills are to thier classes. If anyone complains about you using crate just make sure to drop it on them as much as you can. But remember to use it smartly in rated play .____.
