Arcane Brilliance Broken Underwater

The blast finisher aspect of Arcane Brilliance is no longer functioning underwater. I made sure to test that I was within Boil’s fire field with Arcane Wave first, so it was definitely not a placement issue.

Fortunately it still seems to activate normally on land.

Ascended Stat Swapping - Aquabreathers

Is this a very recent change? Around two months ago I crafted a Verata’s aquabreather. In the time since then I altered it to a Tateos breather, then most recently a Zojja’s breather. I did it using exactly the same Anthology of Heroes recipe one does for switching ascended armor stats with no problems.

Nightfury (Actually a Legendary?)

I finally finished crafting Nightfury last night, and was a little disappointed that it lacked selectable stats. Not being able to switch stats on the fly a la a legendary is one thing. Needing to transmute the effect to a different set of shoulders is another.

It would be nice to use Nightfury without needing to craft another piece of ascended armor considering the expense involved in creating it. As it stands, I had to mothball the original in my bank; which feels a bit silly.

If bumping it up to legendary gives me a way to actually justify using the original item, then I am all for it.

As wonderful an experience as yesterday’s patch was, learning about Sya ended up being the highlight of my day. It could only have been better if I had explored LA and stumbled upon her myself, but I was too busy swooning over mesmer changes to step foot in there. XD

Thanks to the dev who wrote her, and to ANet for another reminder of why GW2 is an awesome game.

Tome Change ideas

in Guardian

Posted by: Seagloom.1263

Seagloom.1263

This proposal does not thrill me. I cannot speak to Tome of Wrath, as I never use it, but I will miss Tome of Courage if it is replaced by a signet. Light of Deliverance is rarely the reason I use that tome. Its casting time is too long—making it an unreliable skill to pull off in an emergency. What makes ToC useful to me is Pacifism, Purifying Ribbon, and Heal Area.

In PvE, ToC does not see much use, but there are situations like the Mai Trin fight where it absolutely has more of an impact than Renewed Focus in my opinion. Outside of PvE, it is hands down my favorite and most frequently slotted elite. ToC is one of the few elites in GW2 that feels like game changer when applied strategically.

The suggested signet sounds like it would be handy in a wider variety of situations, but far weaker in scenarios where ToC shines brightest. Essentially, I would feel even more forced into using Renewed Focus by this change, rather than less.

ToC is also aesthetically pleasing. In a game where looks are a big deal, tomes are by far the flashiest skills guardian gets. ToC is not only useful when I feel it is needed, but fun! It actually looks cool and feels powerful. It is like my character is reaching out to some greater power from without or within. Whereas using Renewed Focus is about as exciting as activating a shout. A signet will be even worse.

I rather see ToC tweaked than replaced with this less versatile signet and a promise we may see ToC return someday as part of a future elite specialization. When I heard Elite Focus’s duration bonus was being rolled in as baseline I got excited. This suggestion has had an opposite, chilling effect.

I will not do something as dramatic as quit GW2 or stop playing my guardian if ToC is replaced, but it would be a telling blow to my enjoyment of the profession.

Best English EU server (living world)

I play on Aurora Glade and we’re alright. Good population for living story events and world bosses, but we’re not the well-oiled machine Desolation is. The overall skill cap is in the middle. There are many outstanding players, but enough inexperienced folks in any given event that we rarely consistently complete zerg content on the first few days.

Most temples in Orr are flipped several times a day except Balthazar which usually gets done weekly, near as I can tell.

All that said, the AG community is decent and we have a few fairly creative folks organizing server events from time to time.

I would prefer something closer to Jennah’s gown. There is a startling lack of closed long dresses and skirts. Most of them are open in front or on the side. While I like some of those armor pieces, I wish there were more outfits closer to TA light armor except slightly lengthier, with exposed shoulders, and nicer footwear. :p

There are precious few light armors I would describe as regal. IMO this armor doesn’t make the cut either. I wouldn’t object to its inclusion, but I’d really like to see ANet branch out from the sexy mini dress aesthetic more.

Braham: "No"

Braham made the right call far as I’m concerned. If anything I would have taken it one step further and attacked Scarlet immediately without engaging her, then openly stating my next move. That’s why Braham and Marjory were sucker punched via explosion. :p

But eh, gotta have proper dramatic banter I guess.

Reminds me of bosses in River City Ransom that would gloat, threaten, or cajole before fighting, and how I would run up and punch them in the face before they were done.

Kasmeer, that's way too much eye mascara

Seagloom.1263

ExAstris and lakdav summed it up. This is a graphics issue and not a design choice.

That said, I wouldn’t have cared if it was a design choice. Kasmeer is a magic user in a fantasy setting. Subtlety is rarely attributed to such characters. Were I to nitpick, her dress and footwear would come across as far more excessive than her eyeshadow. XD

Thinking about getting an airship pass...

There was a lifetime pass on sale for only a day months back. Sadly, no idea when we’ll see that on sale again.

Exiting from the ship drops you near Vigil HQ. Neither the ship or Terrace return you to your previous location like WvW.

I wouldn’t count on the ship dropping players to a new hub. It might, but I personally wouldn’t spend so many gems on a maybe.

I prefer the Royal Terrace. As Vol wrote, it’s way too cramped on that ship. At the risk of sounding pretentious, it’s also not as nice on the eyes. :p

The Vigil Keep hub below will not remain there forever. However, if you want easy access to an activity NPC, don’t care for the Royal Terrace or wish to wait for passes to go back on sale, and are fine with the airship’s aesthetics, I say go for it.

Rox is more difficult since, being a part of the Legions, unless she was ordered to she’s got very little reason to be there. In fact something as simple as her mentioning that Rytlock sent some Charr soldiers to aid in the evacuation would have given some context, but nope she just showed up.

Rytlock did ask Rox to kill Scarlet in an instance following the Marionette battle. Rox’s connection to the other LS iconics and player character would point her toward Lion’s Arch. The sooner she fulfills Rytlock’s request, the sooner she gets admitted into his warband. So if anything, Rox has more motivation to show up than her counterparts.

I went through the OoW story instance “Thrown Off Guard” yesterday afternoon. It was definitely bizarre; and also a bit broken. The weirdness of casually running through a devastated LA aside, I couldn’t take a straightforward route toward the docks on account of a flaming bridge.

Instead I had to jump off a cliff and do a little swimming. It’s a good thing this instance had a shortcut or I don’t see how it could otherwise be completed.

Still, I did get a chuckle out of arriving at the docks only to discover the ship I escorted Tybalt to was in no way seaworthy. It was partially submerged, scuttled, and had tattered sails. Those OoW accountants are stingy about expenses. XD

L.A's Downfall. Feelings? (Survey)

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

A

LA should have burned to the ground a long time ago. First risen, then karka, then civilians and one of their leaders get killed during a celebration. The Lionguard is so woefully incompetent it doesn’t make sense to me the place is still standing. No one sane would even want to live there. :p

I never liked the architecture either. There are beauteous locales at the outskirts, but the town proper is a trash pile comprised of smashed ships. The only difference between much of LA and the typical krait hovel is maintenance and furnishing. >.<

I took Vital Striking pre-patch out of choice. Now it seems Vital Striking is the best option out of necessity. I feel for pure support ele. This patch must be a bitter pill to swallow.

Why do you play ele?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Seagloom.1263

Seagloom.1263

I’ve always gone for the mage-like class. It has the most versatile and engaging play in GW2 IMO. Even combat with staff feels like poetry in motion; what with all the attunement dancing, field tossing, and combos being triggered.

I’ve gone through stretches of fiddling with other professions only to feel bored before too long. I always end up playing ele again, nerfs be kitten ed.

On top of that ele is a light armor class. The fashionista in me appreciates some of the clothing options. XD

We need pants.

in Elementalist

Posted by: Seagloom.1263

Seagloom.1263

Agreed. We definitely need more pants. I’ve found all of four pants amongst all the armors. Two of those are cultural armor, and the third is Priory only. They all also have skirts or flaps hanging from them.

It’s remarkable how many leg armors are named pants without actually being pants. At best they are long flowing robes with leggings underneath.

1 – It does affect the warrior traiting it. You can check on your hero screen.
2 – No idea. I would like to know this too.
3 – From what I can tell it’s working as advertised. The icon incorrectly indicates a 70 point increase to power.
