I’m a bit frustrated. I was excited to participate in the stress test with everyone and explore all the new stuff, but when ArenaNet announced the testing periods, my heart sank. Every single one of them was when I was working.

Just wanted to hear from all of you who experienced similar.

Proposal Overview
Turn “Admin Lower Ranks” into its more granular counterparts: “Invite New Members”, “Promote Members”, “Demote Members”, and “Kick from Guild”

Goal of Proposal
Make granting authority to members of the guild more granular, and allow for more classes of control.

Proposal Functionality
By allowing guild leaders to have more control over their ranks, they are able to make the function of their guild more smooth. They could allow all members to invite, allow some officers to hand out promotions, and reserve demotions and kicks for only the highest ranks, for example.

Associated Risks
Virtually none. It may be Confusing For New Players™, but if you are managing a guild, you ought to be taking the time to understand this stuff anyway. Plus, these options are fairly self-explanatory, and would probably clear up what the “Admin Lower Ranks” fully entails without having to hover over it.

[CHB] PvX guild recruiting!

in Looking for...

Hi there! CHB is a fairly casual PvX guild (we mostly do PvE and EotM). We are based out of the west coast of U.S.A., but will accept anyone. My hours personally are quite sporadic, but I’m usually on from 11pm to 6am pacific time.

Right now we are quite small, but we’ve been around since almost launch. We’re looking to start doing guild missions, but don’t have enough members to actually do them. Art of War is level 4, Architecture is 4, and Politics is 3 (we have not touched Economics).

We’re casual, friendly, and don’t mind shooting the… er… yea. We aren’t always politically correct… Anyway, we have a Mumble voice chat server and a forum! It’s run out of my house on an older spare computer on a Linux stack (just got it all set up after the hardware was replaced and this box made available). Info for the site is available in the guild MOTD.

To join, send a mail to me (Character name is also Semperverus) or Crux Of Atlas (case sensitive) for invite! We play regularly.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention! CHB doesn’t stand for anything! But you could pretend it stands for something cool like Computers in Human Behavior, Chronic Hepatitis B, Cave Habitus Bonum (latin!), or something of your own design. The name was chosen in much the same way XKCD was, but before I knew XKCD was a thing (CHB has been around since 2004 afterall, I was 14 then!)

I’m having the same issues with my guild

it becomes exploits? when ANET founds out?

Unfortunately, they’re handling it much like the WarZ mods did and are just banning people and scuffling negative attention for this out.

If there is a bug in a game, the developer should be responsible to fix it. Of course it’s human nature to want to get an edge where they can, and of course they’re going to want to do something like use the snowflake bug, even if they think it’s a normal part of the game.

It is morally reprehensible of Anet to ban any players over one of their mistakes. This is a software dev issue. They could have removed the item altogether, or locked the accounts temporarily to remove the mass accumulation of them.

But no, just like the WarZ issue, they ban people and continue to make profit by doing so.

Anet, you have officially made me afraid to play your game.

Is this intended with the snowflakes?

Mmm I fail to see how this is “at best debatable”. Infinite ectos is pretty blatantly a mistake if you ask me.

So why didn’t they reply to this thread and say so? Clearly even they didn’t decide it was an exploit until they ran the numbers and saw the effect it could have on the economy, so how could they possibly expect the players to know?

Idd Anet are protecting their literal financial interest in the TP with this latest move from what I can gather. A chap on reddit theorized the following and I quote:

“Whats the best way to freeze a very large portion of wealth in the game, put in a lucrative holiday recipe that the smart traders will notice right away. Refuse to give clarification when asked if this is a bug or exploit, or if it’s truly a cheaper recipe to make ecto’s.

Then wait a few weeks, and without so much as a world send out the perma-bans.
Freeze up all the wealthy traders assets, and watch the unthinking majority cheer and dance as they finally got the evil traders."

Great theory which I would give nowhere near as much merit if the players accounts were just temp banned with a warning issued accordingly.

Kinda sounds exactly like the WarZ scandal…

{Tarnished Coast Server} Skrittsburgh world quest "Skrittsburgh Center" can't be complete

So I’ve been playing for a better part of the day with my brother, and we both went through skrittsburgh recently. One part of it is the world quest in the center of the city with the skill point above it. The quest requires that some large crab be defeated, except that the mob does not exist, or at least we cannot find it. It has been this way for at least 5 hours now, if not more.

I took a screenshot:

Hope this helps you guys out!

EDIT: I should add that one of my concerns is for people trying to use the waypoint to this area. As you can see, it is contested, and thus cannot be used.

{Tarnished Coast} C H B is recruiting

Before you ask, CHB stands for CHB. Nothing more.
Name of guild is C H B (spaces are due to capitalization forcing) and the tag is, appropriately, CHB.

We are a casual-friendly guild who is just starting up. If you’d like to join onto the beginning of something that we intend to make great, here’s your chance. The only requirements are that you be friendly, not out to make a profit (such as looting the bank), represent the guild some, and be semi-active.

The people you should get ahold of in the game to get in the guild are:
Semperverus.3956 (me)
Valkir.2943
FatalEmu.1469
Atlas.5891

Now, be aware that some of us are on some really wacky sleep schedules and work a lot. We may not always be on when you are, so just because you don’t see us doesn’t mean we don’t play. I’ll also give you the benefit of the doubt in terms of determining whether or not you are active. If you can’t get ahold of someone you really need to talk to, or are just looking for some kind of communication, don’t be afraid to use the mailing system. I will personally respond to any mails I get as soon as I get the chance.

We intend on doing some PvP, but it is not the centric focus of the guild (yet). You can, however, take it upon yourself to organize within the guild to do some serious PvP. If anything, please adhere to the ranking system to determine who gets authority over what. Captains, for instance, are meant to be PvP leaders, where Officers help manage the guild itself. (Officers will still outrank Captains in decision making though.)

Since we are fairly new, we’re still working on improving the guild itself by purchasing upgrades. It is encouraged, then, that if you have friends who you like to play with, to request they also join the guild. This way, when you do events together you can collect more influence. This is not necessary, but would greatly improve the guild and be greatly appreciated on our part (as well as any other guild members). This goes with the nature of the guild to help one another out.

As a side note, rank permissions as of now are currently temporary. You may see more permissions trickle down as the guild grows and we become somewhat established, especially pertaining to bank access. For now, we’re testing the waters.

Kind regards to all who are interested.

Guys, what this sounds like is that they took the guild database or server down to try and fix the issues that were happening earlier. Basically, your stuff is still there, they’re fixing it up there, and then bringing it down here (said the Grinch to Cindy Lou Who).

I used to run game servers that required SQL databases, and my guess is that they’re using a structure that manages guilds on a separate set of hardware from the other databases.

Character server, guild server, login server.

I just hope they fix it up soon. You probably won’t see a patch to fix this problem, your guild will just magically start working again (assuming I’m right).

Server: Tarnished Coast
Guild: C H B
Tag: CHB
Leader: Semperverus (me)

My guild has not received any influence increases in the last several hours. It was working off-and-on earlier in the day, but it suddenly stopped.

In addition to this, i cannot edit any ranks whatsoever. I can, however, change a person’s rank.

I do not have enough influence to test purchases yet, as we’re a fairly new guild.
