I play power S/Wh for pve and T4 fractals. I prefer it to D/Wh due to the better blasts and better solo play. I use Fire/Arcane/Tempest since I just like to reduced CD on Arcane skills to grab 2x more Blast Finishers and the CD on all attunements.
How’s Condi scepter play compared to Power scepter for PvE? I didn’t like the idea of losing OL Air as a damage option or Air in general.
I think this is a brilliant idea.
Perhaps they could be treated as a form of ‘invisible armor’ skin for the head, chest, shoulders, and gauntlet slots instead of the OP’s suggestion of them being applied under armor… In this way there’d be dye channels to customize the coloring of the tatoos (or warpaint for the Charr, as Razor above suggested). The existence of the chaos gloves seem to indicate that the tatoos/warpaint might be possible as an armor skin.

Sure, yeah. The idea I had for tattoo was just something that would show on your character while wearing the armors that ‘show off skin’. Being able to dye them, move them around, make them bigger or smaller, etc would be amazing. Otherwise set placements for them if that’s more realistic.
Sorta like how Vindictius did it. You could sell it in the store. Cosmetic, fairly customized tattoos you could place on your character’s arms, chest, face, whatever; stuff that goes under armor and would show on the skin of certain sets. Or even bringing back full body tattoos like the monk/necro armors.
And on an unrelated note: A charr trying to get a tattoo is a great mental image.
Hello, thinking about coming back after a long break where I just grew very bitter about the game; won’t get into it but after a lengthy battle with getting rid of Lavasoft on my PC and lots of googling, I finally have the game reinstalling. Just wanted to ask what’s new to do and pick up, and if I’m too far behind to really bother playing at all. I think I quit at around the time the HoT preorder drama was a big deal?
I main a ranger, she’s rocking the Ascended Zerker Shortbow, full zerker ascended trinkets, and exotic zerk armor with a zerk GS.
After finishing my Shortbow I really didn’t want to level up crafting for ascended armor and the idea of farming it just killed my enjoyment of the game, so I quit. I used to really like fractals and dungeons, so yeah. How vital is HoT, as I’m pretty eh about dropping 50$ for it at the moment? I’m not too hot on the idea of using a staff, so do I have to go Druid to keep up or is core Ranger still viable? Anything new or new maps or whatever since I left that I could go and see?
Thanks in advance for help.
Pet stats lowered. Not being applied the 150 extra stats they’re suppose to have.
Sic ’Em still bugged. Issuing any other F1-4 ability cancels Sic ’Em
Weird. I play zerk SB and I find my DPS (not burst, but DPS) to be fine compared to LB in PvE.
So, already made a thread for this in bug forums but do any of you guys have the Quiver of a Thousand Arrows? I chose mine with zerk stats, but after the update it was somehow changed to Celestial.
I had a Quiver of Thousand Arrow chosen with berserker stats. Logged on today after the update and my Quiver got changed to celestial.
Has this happened to anyone else? And how can I change it back? I wish I had proof, but I don’t. Never felt the need to screencap my back item’s stats.
So what are you enjoying so far? My list goes (from PvE only)
I can now give 30s of AoE Fury, Might and Swiftness from the start of battle. I will personally have 13 stacks of might and 6s of Quickness. Cool.
Remorseless is cool. And LOYT is a lot better than I expected. I really like the changes to the Beastmastery tree, makes the pet so much fiercer which is nice, since I like my feathered friend. “Guard!” is also pretty good without a cast time. Near maintainable Prot and my direct control for the pet. QZ and Troll Ungent no longer hate each other.
The bad? 9s duration on RaO
And Sic ‘Em is still broken. Hopefully they do have the extra points (check during combat maybe?) otherwise, here’s hoping they don’t take 3 years to…not fix it still.

waaait a second
“As a structure the MMO has lost the ability to make the player feel like a hero. Everybody around you is doing the same thing you’re doing. The boss you just killed respawns ten minutes later. It doesn’t care that I’m there”
-Ree Soesbee, game designerdid they actually fix that somehow without me noticing, I must have been busy in a zerg somewhere
I liked how they fixed that in original. It was instanced, so the boss DIDN’T respawn. And everybody around you wasn’t doing the same thing, cause the only people around were your heroes.
Its like they already had an answer to a problem then just forgot it.
Reminder: Factions and NF came with TWO slots and it just so happens those games also added two classes.
But now? 2015 ANet? They make one class and give 0 slots. This just perfectly frames ANet in my eyes as having lost any heart and integrity they once had.
It’s been suggested many times by the community. I hope Anet will at the very least grant Rangers this. While we are on the topic, kiwituatara.6053 suggested this before and included a nice concept of boon & condition location on the UI.

Well, if enough people ask them for it hopefully they’ll listen.
Basically the exact thing the title says. Currently your active buffs, conditions, things like nourishment and whatnot are displayed above your UI on the right side of your screen.
Simply allow the same thing for the pet on the left, above their’s. Maybe color it differently to help differentiate. At the moment it’s kind of unreasonable to click on my pet mid-combat to see when Sic Em is about to wear off, how many stacks of Might it has, etc.
Would just be a nice Qol to help in microing.
A good 7/10 I think the green outfit could stand to match the cute bear hat a little more. Otherwise I like it’s simplicity.
Here’s my ele, Maho of Ezra, I went for a flame colored theme for her clothes, but I’m still looking for the right gloves. I love my ele.

Was wondering if someone could answer specific questions about how damage worked.
Lets say you have a sigil of force and the superior rune of strength with 1 stack of a might. You do an attack that hits for 1000 damage. Is it 1000 damage + 5% (sigil) + 7% (rune) + the might? Or is it all added together at once for +14%?
Also wondering if critical damage is calculate before or after bonuses like Sigils of Force, etc.
Well hopefully if it comes up enough ANet will give it a thought.
This isn’t meant to ‘solve’ whatever problems may or may not exist in dungeons, but rather just add a new dimension to them.
A bonus to the amount of gold/xp/karma you get at the end of the dungeon, based around what your killrate was for the (non-indefinitely spawning) enemies in said dungeon, in order to encourage exploring the dungeon and killing all enemies in it. Additionally, I was thinking that this could reintroduce the Vanquisher title track. Finishing the path of a dungeon with a 100% kill rate among that path would put a point towards ‘Legendary Vanquisher’ which you could get for having a 100% kill rate in all dungeons, on all path. Not an easy goal by far.
Things such as how MUCH gold you should get for this, how it would work, and the general details I haven’t thought of. I just wanted to get feedback on the idea in general.
First off, I just wanna say that your build made me pick up Ele and fall in love with the class. My playing time is limited, but I’ve been glued to my Ele since I got it up and running. Here’s the variation I use: Ele. I’m working on the ascended trinkets, as I hope to replace the rings with Celestial and use zerkers on everything else, for some small survivability since I’m forgoing Water. I’m also trying out Final Shielding over Arcane Mastery. Still, love this build. A lot of fun.

So name which NPCs you’ve seen in the personal story who are just plain crazy.
My vote goes to Magistrate Seiran who, despite being an elementlist, has no cooldown on her Ride the Lightning, has a Mist Form that lasts a day, and; oh yeah, can use freakin Portal.
I don’t like the idea of a full war, but I really would like to at least kick all the Charr out of Ascalon and reclaim it. In addition to making the Ebonhawke or New Ascalon segregated from Charr
I got 3.
Rynhildr Vardsdottir (Couldn’t fit that in so it’s just Ryn) – Warrior
Meida Vardsdottir – Engineer (^Her sister, in case you couldn’t work that one out^)
Thrisda Stigsdottir – Ranger (I thought I would try a different race for my ranger, but I was looking at my char menu and just thought “needs more Norn”)All 3 very norn like names I think.
Male Norn ranger: Beariden Wildheart.
Female Norn Guardian: Brynja Frostheart. (Brynja is norse for armor…usually associated with heavy armor)
Beariden Wildheart makes me think of a giant Norn riding on a giant bear, which is awesome.
Brynja sounds pretty fitting, and follows the ‘heart’ theme you seem to have set up(?).
My female ranger: Freja Sifdottir. My first norn character and I’ve been struggling to find a good name.
Yup. Kicked off during FoTM. It sucks.
I’d love to see the old bosses come back in Fractals. Fighting Shiro, Lich Lord, or Abbadon with an updated skillbar and mechanics would be awesome.
Get rid of the RNG element to Meteor Shower.
It takes like 5 years to cast a spell that may or may not hit the stuff you want it to, hell it’s not even a finisher or a field. All it does is damage.
Make it work like the old MS, guaranteed damage every couple of intervals. The old one hit every 3 seconds, maybe this one could hit every 1.5 or something. Lower the damage to makeup for the fact that it would be more reliable, and maybe add the KDs back.
God yes please. My thief has farmed up a lot of this useless currency, I want to use it to buy the 80 armor for my alts who could actually use it.
C’mon, please? I’m sick of having a ton of karma and feeling like it’s pointless.
Would be nice to actually be able to do something with it.
Why isn’t it? My thief may not need any more armor but my ele sure as hell does; I earned the karma either way, so why can’t I grab it for another character?
Maybe give it both account-bound and Soulbound on use so I can only move it to another character once. Right now, I’m not caring about the Legendaries and I don’t need cooking mats, so I can’t find anything else to do with my karma. Using it to buy gear for my less geared characters would be wonderful.
Yes please. I dislike WvW simply because I can’t run it, so it’d be nice to be able to do something else instead, like sPvP which I can kind-of-sort-of run.
So I’ve been running mostly singles of runes to give me +25 power with 1 rune and it’s been alright but I’m starting to look at alternatives specifically Infiltrator for the bonus damage under 50% and wondering how that stacks up to just flat power, any opinions or ideas?
Talking PvE btw
I agree that the builds for characters feel pretty dumbed down compared to the last game; I was going to make a thread for this but this one is pretty similar so I just wanted to say how this feels weak even for the enemies.
The enemies in GW1 were usually all different from one another. They did different things in different ways. Like, in The Desolation I quickly learned the mesmers carried Hex Eater Vortex, which made playing through it on my sin a pain in thekitten since it countered my two builds I had (MobiusBlossom and Assassin’s Promise) so I had to change up my team to succeed. Again, in certain extremely condition heavy areas I’d have to change up my team and again for other areas with high spike damage or hex-based. Things felt different from zone to zone.
Here though, I can’t tell the different between the Sons of Svanir and the Charr. The GS guys both spin at me and thats it. The imps and spiders all seem the same too. There are a few mobs that do feel like they stand out; the Risen, Dredge, and Pirates in particular, but other than that I miss wondering what I was going up against and how I can adjust myself or my heroes properly.
Enchanted Bow skill point still bugged, Devona’s Reach
You guys remember the party search function from GW1? I’d like to see that but server wide.
You would just drop down to the dungeon tag, type a short message “LFG CoF EXP 60 Necro” or whatever, hit send and boom. Go do other stuff while you wait for someone to message you or a little prompt asking if you want to accept an invite or something. Last game it also had a tag for Hunting, Quest, and Mission I believe so you could even search for other stuff.
I can’t tell you enough how great it was to change your attributes in the first game whenever you wanted; as someone who loves to theorycraft and test numbers it was a dream come true. I don’t like how you can’t do that anymore. I don’t mind it costing money, just let me do it when I want so I can play with builds better.
Same, went from 2.5g ish to 17s. Ugh.
Would be nice to use all the tokens universally, but make it not as effective to use in a dungeon that wasn’t it’s home origin.
Like offer a trader that takes the tokens you have in exchange for one of a different dungeon, but maybe at a different ratio for it.
Like 2 CM tokens for one Arah token, or 3, or 4 or whatever.
But never make it give more than 1:1, so 1 Arah would only net you 1 CM.
Well, alright, but then what about Ritualists? So far I haven’t really seen any body binding spirits with chains to do their bidding or walking with the ashes of dead people, so I assume their art didn’t get passed down but the Assassin’s did.
If it was a mostly Assassin-only thing, and Cantha split off and isolated itself from the rest of the world, how did the act of shadowstepping spread, even as far as to a new race like the Sylvari?
I suppose the Ebon Vanguard had Ebon Escape, but it doesn’t really answer my questions.
