um, I like outfits,
not everyone hates them, or wants to get rid of them.
I actually like them more then the skins because you can wear them at any level without wasting transmutation shards. I just wish the dyes were separate for each one.
I liked the very first system, where it unlocked at earlier levels and you didn’t need points to unlock them.
But the next version after that was horrendous, locking traits behind events was horrible; not because ‘oh you have to do an event to get it,
but because,
it wasn’t balanced level wise, and often you had to actually Fail an event to get it.
Some of them for example, some level 35 traits were in level 60 zones [to get that trait that unlocked at level 35, you (as a level 35 player) had to go to a level 60 zone and fight an event (with level 60 monsters)]. I mean that’s a huge unbalanced level-wise problem, right?
The system as of now isn’t perfect, I don’t like it as much as the very first version, but it’s definetly better than the second version, at least.
I would love it more actually, if they just removed the stupid laughing/cheers from the ambient background while ‘waiting for players’ portion,
in my opnion it’s most annoying part of the activity.
I just want to tell the crowd to shut up.
The applause is nice, but the constant jeering/laughing,
sooo annoying
I think if it was restricted to dungeons or fractuals that would be great, (like only usable in a special solo mode). [Plus great way to get tokens and gear solo, if there aren’t any actual people around].
But, I don’t really want a bunch of npcs following me in open world, that would get annoying.
They could just remove levels (probably never happen though).
Remove player/gear/map levels, make everything the same level,
make all the maps the same character level,
so everything always has some level of difficulty no matter where you go (obviously beginner map mobs still would be easier, less cc and conditions).
Content on beginner maps wouldn’t be obsolute at max level, because everything would be max level.
[Since the whole scaling levels down now, doesn’t actually work very well, or at all.]
Of course, that would take reworking the whole game (gear/leveling points/mobs), and likely never to happen, but one can dream, I guess.
It would be nice if we had a list of megaservers that we can currently switch to on the fly on the map screen (maybe with a cooldown of a few minutes or something), and have it list current population and other things;
it might solve that problem if you could pick what map to go to
(edited by Sephrye.1628)
One of the main reasons for this now, is because of elite masteries/weapons being locked behind level 80.
Normally, I’m someone who like to take it slow when I level a new character (exploring everything etc),
but I also found myself wanting to level up faster too, to use the mastery weapons.
It makes people want to rush, in order to use the new weapons.
Going afk is really bad, not just for your team,
but because if you/your team changes tactics, or just has better luck, you can win really suddenly.
I played matches that were losing for the first part of the fight, then suddenly turned around and won at the end.
It can do a complete 180 on you, but if someone afks,
then less of a chance at turning it around and getting a surprise win.
Also better to try your best,
even if you have no chance against the other team, and even if you lose,
because at least you did your best instead of just giving up.
Hmm, I paid about 70 dollars to get gw 2 when it first came out for everyone,
I’m kinda amazed at the price it’s at, now,
but I’m not offended or anything, it was my choice to pay that much so…
I usually don’t buy games early, but I was super excited and tracked it for a long time and just felt like finally I can play the sequel and bought it right away;
sure this game has problems but I do love it, it’s very fun most of the time, and one of the better mmos I’ve played
I may complain about some things, but that’s because I care about it’s future
So, I guess my point is, no, I don’t regret paying that much at all,
because I ‘ve had and still am having, a lot of fun with it.
If half-off sales bring more people into the game then that’s nice, you know?
Wow, so you said you liked his name and they kicked you?
Talk about overreacting;
if they kicked you just for joking around or making conversation,
just because they were frustrated over a failed sequence or something (seems like they took their frustrations out on you),
then they certainly don’t deserve to have your help, I figure
Kinda makes you feel bad when it happens, though

Frostspotter can kiss my white kitten , I mean seriously if guys think that is the only good things about ranger you have no imagination.
(pets in a beastmaster build can distract elites, drakes and their aoe and dogs and their knockdowns, blocks and autoattack evades and aoe on greatsword, heal that cleanses conditions and heals group at same time;
there’s a lot of other good things about the class that isn’t just damage, damage , damage mentality that everyone only seems to care about anymore)
Maybe it’s the only things that actually give boons or whatever, but I’d rather have a group member who’s comfortable and used to their build in a dungeon,
then ask them to change it for only a couple boons and play in a build their not used to,
and then get everyone killed as a result.
Just a suggestion – try using a trackball mouse. My husband and I both use trackballs, and one of the things I love is being able to fine-tune my zoom, especially for screenshots.
Only problem is, I play from a family computer, so the other people in my family might not like it, dunno,
thanks for the suggestion, though; I didn’t know different mice can use different zooms, that’s pretty interesting
It may or may not help in your situation but if you add this to your GW2.exe shortcut it will revert the camera to the original one before anet made changes to it which I prefer still. -useOldFov
on mine it looks like: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -useOldFov
for the shortcut, may or may not help you get your character zoomed more to your liking.
Omg, thank you so much for this,
it looks so much better on my human female characters,
much closer in the 2nd to last zoom, I can actually see details on my armors and stuffs
(don’t have any norn characters right now, so no idea if it would look good on them or not, though)
I wish that they had more smaller zoom increments,
like when you zoom in and out,
have more variety in ranges, from the minimum to zoomed out,
with each turn of the mouse wheel
Kinda hard to explain what I mean, I guess,
but when you’re in as zoomed in as far as possible as then slowly zoom out, there’s only a few sizes of zoom until you’re completely zoomed out
What I mean is add more types of angles of zoom inbetween
the max zoom in and the max zoomed out, so that you have more choices
I think if the camera had more variety of zoomed in degrees, on more control on how far you can change the camera in medium zoom,
that could solve your problem
Sorry if that sounds really complicated, I have trouble trying to explain what I mean about that

What about this one, displays all events happening on your characters most current map:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1gx28f/a_gw2_map_that_displays_all_of_the_active_events/
I wouldn’t recommend to keep it running though, might be laggy
Just open it when you want to find a certain event?
This helped me a lot, to track this new system
from dulfy.net:
http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/
Just keep it in a browser then
You can copy the waypoint code
and then Ctrl+V to paste ingame in chat to share with others
I hope they could eventually put something like this in the ingame ui, though
For now, though I think this tool is very useful
Now sure if this is the right place, but thought I’d share this from dulfy.net:
http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/
Just keep it in a browser then
You can copy the waypoint code
and then Ctrl+V to paste ingame in chat to share with others
Helps me a ton,
so the ingame schedule doesn’t bother me so much, now that I can track it

Nice job completely ignoring valid points.
For the op,
warrior is one of the easiest beginner characters always welcomed in groups,
necromancer is not as easy to learn but can be more fun if you like one of the different playstyles
And any class can be selfish or selfless depending on how you build them.
Necro isn’t that selfish if you trait for it, you can trait to give protection in wells,
and if you cycle it right and have boon duration (either with equips or/and trait line), almost constant protection
You can also give protection and swiftness with the well heal ability, if you have the runes to give swiftness to allies when using heal
You can also give regeneration with marks and when you dodge, with traits
You can also remove conditions on allies with a well, or drawing them to yourself with a skill
There are many options to be group-friendly with a necro, you just have to look for them.
Zergs are fun sometimes if I run across one,
but then I get tired of them after a while and like to go off on my own somewhere.
Since I’m the type of person in real life, who likes being around others,
but then after a while gets tired and wants to go be alone, because being around people too much is also annoying to me, (even though I like certain people most of the time);
so mimicking that behavior in a game kinda makes sense for me,
since that’s how I am
But then there’s a lot of people who don’t like to be alone at all,
and I think that behavior manifests in games as zergs, because it seems to be human nature to stick together, really.
We learned early on in human development that being in a ‘pack’ is key to survival, kind of like wolves
So, I think it’s just human nature to zerg, even though sometimes it’s annoying
I love both ranger and necromancer in pve, even though everyone says they are underpowered in various areas,
but I use my own unique builds, so I don’t feel that way, so much; if something doesn’t work for me at the moment, I change it.
Plus, any class can feel underwhelming if it’s not to your playstyle,
and I think every class has it’s issues and sometimes even some broken ones.
But, if you like playing a class,
you shouldn’t let people deter you from that, even if everyone thinks that that class ‘sucks’ right now or something;
it’s more about what you like playing and what you can do with it.
The issue still is, levels of requirements of traits are not balanced to character level.
Level 35 adept should not be having to complete level 50 or 80 maps at that level.
Level 35 adept should not have to go into wvw for pve traits.
Level 60, for that matter should not have to complete level 80 map zones either.
Simple.Balance the traits around the levels of the characters doing them, that’s all we ask.
Something that’s usually done in most mmos,
you know, standard things.
Why is this not fixed yet, Anet? This is the most egregiously bad part of the trait system right now. Worse than the temple traits requiring you to fail defense, because at least a temple event looks good on paper if you don’t think all the consequences through.
How did they put the requirements for level 35 traits in 50-80 zones and think “Yeah, that’s balanced.” How completely out of touch with reality are they?
Yeah it’s absurd.
The ones that require you to fail an event, that takes hours or so to respawn, are equally of bad design.
It’s like whoever thought this up, never played their own game normally or even at all, or any mmo.
Or maybe they’re the type that rushes to 80 or just instantly became 80 with admin stuff, and don’t care about the 1-79 portion of their game being balanced for anyone else.
Anyone who plays or designs mmos normally, knows that level balance is important for their game.
It’s like basic common sense.

It should be that the unlocks have to do with 1-25 zones for adept tier, 26-55 for master tier, and 56-80 for grandmaster. None of this “Clear Frostgorge Sound” crap for adept traits. Absolutely ridiculous. They should also attach the traits to things that are actually similar. Like fire traits being to do with killing Flame Legion and elementals.
Yeah, people keep trying to point that out,
but either keep getting trolled or ignored, by people who don’t care if it’s level balanced or not
(most of those trolling/or ignoring valid points are the ones who want to get to 80 fast as possible, I’ve noticed)
Why don’t we have a response from the devs about this imbalance in levels with the trait system?
You shouldn’t have to wait till 80 to get a trait you should have at 35.
Some people actually level a lot slower than that (it took me half a year to level one of my characters because I wasn’t rushing).

I always kept searching for pants while leveling, too much breeze Oo,
no pants except in gem store, most of the timeI just ended up going with a really lacey skirt, though, since it was elegant and pretty
One of the karma equips from a temple npcAnd the starter skirt showed too much underwear, when she runs, haha
For pants, I used the embroidered pants for a long time. A novice tailor can make them. Not great looking, but they’re pants.
Yeah, I used those too on some of my caster characters,
but on the one i had with the athletic body, it shows the erm butt line lol
There’s also a sort of tribal one called tactical armor from a level 72 karma vender, looks sort of necromancerish, and has a half skirt on back and pants in front
That’s all I know of, and miniskirts are pretty scarce, too
The medium and light armors could use more variety overall, certainly

Why not just salvage them to unlock?
Because i want to sell them to vendor?
Doesn’t it soulbind if you right click then hit unlock? I was lead to believe it did.
It does. But I think that OP actually sells them to merchants o.O
Even though it’s much more profitable to sell em on TP or salvaging them.Oh sell to vendor?? lol who does that? Maybe he’s maxed out on MF, that could be a reason?
Yeah, but even salvaging for mats to sell on the tp, is often more profitable than selling to the npc.
Unless it’s a rare equip or something
Have you unlocked magic find?
You can get luck from salvaging armor/weapon, that when you use them keeps adding a permanent bonus to your account to magic find, to get better drops
A button like that would be nice, though, it might also be bad, if you wanted to sell something on the tp,
because when you unlock a skin of something, you can’t sell it to others, since it becomes bound
Maybe there’s a way around for the button for that, though, I don’t know
It’s not about not liking new content, it’s that the requirements are ridiculous.
A level 30 required to do level 50 or 80 map completion,
give me a break, that’s outrageous.
Or a low level required to go into wvw and survive, just to get a pve trait. This is indeed the issue for most of the complaints that I have seen. The basic idea of going out into the world and doing things to get the traits, in and of itself, is fine. The issue is that the current set-up that matches traits to requirements is a bit out of whack. In my mind, this doesn’t require a massive overhaul…just some adjustment of the traits versus requirements with an eye toward which events, areas, and requirements are consistent with the level of the traits sought.
Agreed,
I don’t mind going and getting them (might even be fun),
but only if it’s balanced for the level of the character doing them.

I would say permanent things
like character slots,
bank slots,
armor skins (since they’re now permanent in wardrobe in exchange for charge costs),
or unlimited tools/salvage (all you have to do is go to the bank when you want to change characters)
I’ve bought the perm salvage thing because it was so annoying to keep a bunch in my inventory,
not to mention they took up a lot of space, and if I didn’t keep a lot of them in my inventory, I would run out at inconvenient times, like in a dungeon.
Now, though, it only takes up one slot and I can always salvage things.
So, I’ve never regretted buying it, it’s very useful.
The perm unlimited tools are probably good too, imagine running out of a tool just when you’ve found a rare ore or something. I could see how those could be useful.

I think One of the problems is, that some recent games have gotten us accustomed to thinking that " The game begins at 80" and all the levels in between Character creation, and level 80, are just " something to slog through On the way to “The Game” "
The game begins at level 1. What you see as “grinding on the way to level 80” is " Playing the Game."
Instead of Looking at all the hurdles between level 1, and level 80, as something negative. See it as intended this is " The Game".
I am getting the impression that many players Just want to hit level 80, but really don’t like Playing. I mean… the traits are rewards for playing the game. Either you do events, or you hunt down skill points and save up cash. Saying " Hiding the traits behind content" just makes me wonder, if people do Not wish to do content….why are they even here?
Some traits for level 30 require completing a higher level zone like a level 50 zone,
it’s NOT balanced.
Not to mention, there is less of a sense of progression below 30,
it definitely feels much slower,
which is fine for some people,
but will turn other players away from the game.
Not a good idea for a mmo. The goal is to get customers, not turn them away.
I like leveling characters, correction liked,
before this patch.
Liked exploring,
finding events normally while wandering around, the whole thing, I don’t like rushing to 80;
so yeah, your argument is flawed.
If you’re trying to test a build against a hard monster,
why not try to walk into one of the easier dungeons by yourself?
Maybe it’s not the same as a regular champ, but it should be good for testing purposes, to more easily see how your character reacts when fighting a harder monster.
You can test your build against those, and no one will bother you for the duration,
and if you run into trouble, you can just go back out.
ANet, you have GOT to be joking!
Just checked out what my Ele needs to do to get the traits I was planning for her. Apparently, to get “Windborne Dagger” (Arcana trait VI), she needs to “Earn 100% completion in Frostgorge Sound”. So let’s be clear about what that means – to get an “Adept” trait, that she could in theory unlock at level 36 (and could previously have used at level 20!) – she has to fully complete a level 70-80 zone?!?. Either this is coldly calculated to make sure people buy the traits, or it’s downright malicious, or someone really hasn’t done their job and thought this through.
So a group of us were sat around outside Lyssa’s Temple waiting for the defense event to come up so we can ignore it so it will FAIL and we can try the event to get the trait we one (great design Anet) while laughing about how stupid this is.
Defense event starts and a handful of people decide to troll and do the defense event so now we can’t try to get the trait for another 2 hours…
….. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trait_guide
According to that, the following traits require 100% completion of the given area (traits for each profession have identical requirements). Zone levels are as shown. Please note: these are so-called adept traits in every case, that even under the new system you could in principle use at
__LEVEL 36.
Line 1, trait V: Blazeridge Steppes (40-50)
Line 2, trait IV: Lornar’s Pass (30-40)
Line 2, trait V: Bloodtide Coast (45-55)
Line 2, trait VI: Fireheart Rise (60-70)Line 3, trait V: Fields of Ruin (30-40)
Line 3, trait VI: Iron Marches (50-60)Line 4, trait IV: Harathi Hinterlands (35-45)
Line 4, trait V: Timberline Falls (50-60)
Line 4, trait VI: Mount Maelstrom (60-70)Line 5, trait IV: Dredgehaunt Cliffs (40-50)
Line 5, trait V: Sparkfly Fen (55-65)
Line 5, trait VI: Frostgorge Sound (70-80)It’s fairly clear that most people aren’t going to be able to unlock many of those at any point close to when they supposedly become available.
…. The point is that, for new characters, the existing major traits now have access requirements as well – and some of those are ludicrously OUT OF REACH FOR THE LEVEL of character they’re nominally FOR, even under the new point allocation._
Are people even reading this?
Having to aquire traits in zones and sometimes complete the zones, not even in the same level range as the character trying to get the traits, even 10-20 levels or more ahead of the character’s level.
Having to FAIL events to get a trait,
that are so popular it’s impossible to let fail, because of so many people there and defending, constantly.
It’s ridiculous.
I’m all for taking my time, but this is just nuts.
Edit:
Ok, so I read that defense events now counts for unlocks, so I guess Anet is reading this?
Thank You for that!
Now, if you could just put requirements of events or zone completions, to be in the appropriate level range of the character that supposed to be doing them, that would be great, too
(edited by Sephrye.1628)
Hmm, interesting suggestion,
a checkbox beside the equipment to do it, could work.
(Kinda like the checkbox for hiding shoulderpads, etc)
I’m sorta the opposite, though,
I want an option (checkbox, whatever), to see all the weapons equipped,
on my character at the same time.
Like a character that uses a bow and sword/etc, I want to see both weapon sets equipped visually on my character’s body,
but I could see how that could have clipping issues or something, though
(edited by Sephrye.1628)
I managed to get the Karka Queen on two alts in two days. That doesn’t sound impossible to me at all, since I did it 2 out of 2 times. Once with a mesmer, and once with a thief.
So maybe if instead of assuming " it’s impossible." you re-evaluate your gameplay you may have better luck.
One quite large fact you’re missing: the karka queen is a scheduled world boss. Temple events and Arah gates are not.
So I’m afraid your post isn’t at all helpful.
So you wait around for a few hours, big flippin whoop, I am sure there is enough to keep you occupied….in Orr. Sorry, but I don’t think it is useless at all, you said they were " almost impossible." I am saying they aren’t. besides there are many options for unlocking traits. if you cannot do the events, just break open the piggy bank, and use your gold and skill points.
It’s not about ‘just doing the events’, you have to Fail them to do the correct ones, in a chain.
If you’re on a high population server, like with the megaserver, that becomes impossible.
I don’t know how to say it simpler.
It should be doable in pve without spending gold, otherwise there’s no point to their new system.

Not to mention that you don’t get the trait for the defensive event, only offensive event, which no one does apparently anymore with the new megaserver.
(since you know, you have to let the monsters completely retake those places, before doing the event,
kinda hard when everyone’s defending, do to high population, and some not speaking english)
So yes.
Impossible for most.
(edited by Sephrye.1628)
Oh and another thing, why do traits have to cost gold and skill points? And so much…
It didn’t cost quite as much before this…And having to unlock them via events wouldn’t be so bad if the grandmaster trait events weren’t nearly impossible to do for most,
do to having to get the trait during offense and not getting them on defense, even though you killed the same mob, etc.Waiting around for something to respawn and that might even be impossible to get on certain servers, just to get a trait, is just disgusting.
there are no servers anymore. the megaserver system is taking over all your base
Yeah, I know but it still puts you in a random server, and most of those servers are so populated (sometimes with people who can’t speak english), that it makes those events impossible

For my point of view:
I don’t like having to look up online when a boss will spawn, it’s very confusing, so I’m probably not going to even bother.
And the chance of me randomly running into one, now, while exploring,
is probably none for me.
It’s made world bosses completely useless for me, I’m online at random times and I don’t want to stick to a ‘schedule’ just to play,
that seems like ‘work’ and therefore makes playing boring.
It’s a bit boring to wait for 30 for trait points, in fact it might turn new players away from the game, a very bad thing.
Maybe, have the new trait progression start earlier, like level 15 or 20,
with a tutorial mail sent to explain about them, to new players?
Definitely explain about the use of traits,
that you can respec at any time for free, and how to get new grandmaster traits.
That way new people know what they are for, if they’re confused or something.
Ever stop to think that maybe because there are so many people ‘whining’ about it,
that there is something wrong fundamentally with the patch?
It’s not just about nerfing damage, there are other things messed up in the patch as well.
Granted they did design some nice features, some that I love, like the account-wide dyes, but there’s a can full of things wrong in the patch as well.
As some who still has to level up some characters, I am disappointed with the transmutation changes. Since transmutation stones only worked on items below level 80, it meant they were great for maintaining my chosen look while levelling up. They were also fairly easy to obtain, so I had a decent supply of them.
After the update, I am down to about 40 charges, which would be great if I didn’t have 3 characters below level 50 and if a single change of a piece of gear didn’t cost 1 charge.
Consider making it cost only one charge no matter how many gear pieces you change on characters below level 80. Or perhaps someone can come with a better solution.
Same here, I like having my character wear nice combinations, and generally look nice no matter the level.
Now it would be much harder to do so while leveling up, since it costs three times as much for lower level characters to transmute, then it used to.
I really hate the transmutation system, it feels like you’re only renting the armor,
not having permanent armor skins.
It should just be a one time fee with the charges,
to unlock a skin instead, for your account,
and then reuse as many times as you want afterwards on armors for free.
Same feeling here, but I wasn’t surprised really,
transmutation is a big money source for them, apparently?
It’s really irritating, though, while leveling,
since you go through armors so fast.
At end game, less irritating, but still irritating,
cause you feel like you can’t change your looks if you want, on the fly.
I’ve always been annoyed by that whole system.
AoC had a system where you could put the clothes skins you want on a separate equip area, and still change out the armor equips,
without changing the skins, because it was kept in a separate tab.
I loved that system, best thing about that game to me.
DCuO had a system that once you get a skin, you unlock it, and it’s free to change in and out.
Loved that as well.
I wish gw 2 had something like those, but it’s probably never going to happen.
I wonder what will happen to town clothes that are automatically given to new characters,
will we get any default town clothes anymore, when we make new characters, or just start without them
It’s just kinda stupid that you can’t mix&match them after this patch, don’t know why regressing in options is considered better by the devs, but whatever
To get ready,
I bought all the dyes that I think of as essential in the color spectrum,
but may have put off buying before,
because of costs and since they were per character.
Also, looked through first the green/general dyes list, to see if any were missing, and then yellow/rare dyes.
Man, buying dyes sure add up in cost, even if they’re only a few silver,
if you buy a lot of dyes at once.
Also, made backups of my builds on the build editor, just in case.
I like the minions because of the life siphon and utility/cc, and I used them up until about level 70,
but I got really sick of them constantly blocking my camera view and having to constantly keep track of them, and the fact that I felt useless if they died;
so I changed my build, and now I just use the elite minion and maybe the worm, sometimes.
Minions are so annoying to keep alive, granted there’s traits and skills for that, but they just feel really squishy, anyway,
and not to mention I’d rather use my traits and skills to make my own character stronger, instead of minions.
I don’t know, maybe I’ll playing a mm again someday,
I just feel more useful being any other necro build, for some reason.
