I’ve noticed people on countless servers, probably people on mine too, that use this to target places with arrow carts they shouldn’t be able to target. I’m sure a lot of us have seen this. Has anet ever said they were going to do something to fix it? is it even possible to fix it? I know its practically impossible to prove someone is using it directly to anet, but rather than people being banned it’d be nice if it was either given to everyone, or patched.
I don’t really think BP and SBI allianced, I just feel SBI chose BP to be second. Regardless, it really does suck that one server can have so much control of the outcome of the other two when they have way more population.
I find it extremely hard to believe that SBI would, when it is incredibly populated atm, let BP control as much as they do and not do anything about it. They literally in EBG have only attacked BP when they trebbed smc, and whenever they capped ogres. Most of their time has been spent shutting out DB. I guess I made it seem too much like I was blaming BP for this outcome, but regardless it seems pretty obvious both of our servers find this situation very demotivating.
I don’t think their is any rules against servers doing this, and because of this, even though BP is getting a very shallow and undeserved win it wasn’t really against any rules.
However, in the future I do think their should be rules against essentially match fixing a wvw outcome. Because this very specific situation is an example of the absolute worst way wvw can be played and unless your server is BlackGate or any other t1 server, there’s no way you can accomplish anything in these conditions. i.e. “HELL YEAH WE FINALLY HAVE 1 CAMP AGAIN, maybe when they are not looking we can have siegerazer ninja a tower back, that way we can have a camp and tower for 5 minutes before they take it back from us! This really makes me excited about playing world vs world, I hope all my games are this fun!”
Yeah, BP good job on that win. Not bsing, that was legitimately I think the best strategy for the moment. You guys want to win too and if that means SBI will make it happen for you, I don’t see why you wouldn’t take it. But I do think that that kind of strategy shouldn’t be allowed in future wvw matches, and I’m sure you’d feel the same way if it was used on you. Plays like this ruin the fun in wvw.
Would you look at that. I be wrong. But I think there’s some parts of value in here somewhere so I’ll leave it.
Now this isn’t necessarily going to be a thread Q.Qing about why being teamed up on by the other two servers is cheating or anything of the such. I don’t believe there are any rules stating that two worlds can’t both attack someone at the same time. I was just thinking from a fair competitive standpoint, at what limit should this be allowed?
I’m from the server DB and this past week both us and BP have been getting stomped by SBI. They clearly did their thing well. And to secure their lead it makes sense to focus majority of their efforts on DB because we were in 2nd place and they don’t want us to catch up. From BP’s standpoint we are the one to take down since we are the best chance of them getting out of last place. So of course majority of the week we would be fighting two pronged battles between SBI and BP. Totally cool. Very good decisions from both those servers knowing who they should attack at what times. I think this is good. This is the reason there are three servers in wvw because it adds much more strategic depth.
Now the issue I have is when this is taken a step further which I will get into eventually. So, even against these odds DB for majority of the week maintained their second place position. We would go through day after day of getting crushed, but then night after night of making our comebacks. Really cool that we had this back and forth position and were able to maintain second place. But during the last couple of days things changed. SBI started attacking BP less and attacked us more. Now they would still attack BP, I mean how dare they control any of SBI’s 3/3’ds of the maps. But their main focus was us. I mean many of the players from SBI came from DB so of course there’s such a rivalry there and that’s cool. It makes things harder for us but hey gives us a challenge to overcome. Overcame it we did. On this last day in the evening and morning we pushed a whole 7000 point lead over BP controlling 100% of all the maps and having just sick overall control of everything, scavanging for any points we could get to gain more of a lead on BP. It was incredibly motivating and we had some strong momentum going into the remainder of the day before reset.
However, something incredibly unexpected happened. SBI decided to take a hiatus from doing anything vs BP. In fact they let BP have 100% control nearly of all their lands except their EBG 3rd. SBI spent their time fighting us while BP would spend their time fortifying their position since they had no worries of anyone really threatening them. Once they finished their fortifications, SBI stopped doing their thing and let BP take over fighting a much less fortified DB with their incredibly fortified BP, courtesy of SBI.
Now one might suggest: “Hey, maybe BP just took a last minute struggle and pulled all their strength from their server to fight not only SBI but DB on an incredibly different level. Because of this they are finally dominating the wvw server.”
To this I would respond with two very important concepts. One, if they had such a powerful wvw crew for their server that could crush both SBI and DB at the same time, why would they wait until now to use it? Why not use it in the beginning to secure a 1st place rather than a 2nd place? Two, during the week with DB and SBI literally ignoring each other most of the time and double teaming SBI, SBI still came out with an incredibly dominate lead. Would they really lose to BP alone when BP + DB together stood no chance?
The point is the strategy they used was this: SBI will let BP have all their territory and focus on holding of DB while BP fortifies their position. Then when that is finished, SBI will allow BP and DB to duke it out so BP can aquire not only SBI’s but DB’s territory. The reason is if SBI were not to help BP out BP with a 7000 point deficite would not be able to gain a 2nd place finish this week. And whoever of DB and BP finishes 2nd gets 4th place in our division. It’s an incredibly important match.

Normally, I don’t like to complain about video games. Especially a really awesome game like this one. However, one of the biggest issues with this game is their lack of color blind support. For someone like me who is red-green color blind cringes at the fact that most of the most important alerts in this game are either red or green. I’ll go through some of the big instances of this that really affect me during the game.
AoE spells: When an AoE is used in gw2 arena.net made it convenient for people by showing a circle that tells you its radius. However, they made the circle shaded red and green for enemies and allies AoE’s respectively. I can’t tell you the amount of times where I either don’t notice there is an AoE on the ground because the outline blends in with the scenery. When I do actually notice that it’s there I can often not even tell whether it was an allies AoE or enemies. It’s extremely frustrating when I think I’m safe in a spot and then I suddenly die. This is probably the biggest issue I have with colors because it literally is life or death for me.
Rare/Masterwork items: This is just annoying. I can’t tell if an Item’s name is yellow or green. So when I loot after every dungeon I have to go item by item to tell me whether it was a rare or masterwork item. It’s extremely time consuming for me to have to do this every time. It is convenient that there are bags that make rare’s go to them over other bags, but I shouldn’t have to be forced to resort to them to be able to figure out what my item is.
WvW: Yet again, there is red and green teams. Though that’s not the biggest issue because i can turn name-tags off for allies, so I know if I see any name-tags at all they are enemies. What is a big deal though is they in the most recent patch changed the colors of the blue and green team. Making the green team a lighter green and the blue team a cyan color. Unfortunately what this does it make it impossible for me to tell what on our map belongs to the green and blue teams respectively which is incredibly frustrating.
I really would like Arena.net to add a colorblind friendly option like many other games have out there, or make it so we can customize the colors of non-character elements in the game.
Also, sorry if this wasn’t written particularly well, I didn’t do much editing. I more or less really just wanted to create awareness of the fact this is an issue and I’m positive I’m not the only person who has these problems.
