“Pillaging” used to have Magic Find, and not all recipes have changed over to the new stats when Magic Find was removed from equipment. Check if lets you choose new stats for it.
Be prepared to have people come in here and tell you that achievement points don’t matter and you shouldn’t care about them. Always happens when something like this comes up.
That said, I was pretty sure I always finished all monthly achievements (including August last year) and also have 923. Recently found out that there are people with 960+. Nothing that can be done about that now. Nowadays it’s become a toss up between finishing the monthly on the first day of the month in case something like this happens, or waiting until the end because they might add extra rewards (remember pvp monthly extra laurel reward?)
That achievement was part of a monthly a long time ago. I’m guessing you had not completed it then , and you have the same issue as with old living story achievements still showing up in the nearly completed section (which was fixed).
Evon’s rewards were kinda crap compared to Kiel’s.
Now that Kiel won we will see something new about the Thaumanova Reactor.
Seriously Kiel’s rewards were a lot better than Evon’s. And who cares about Lion’s Arch meaningless shallow politics?
It’s all about the rewards in my opinion.
I believe people who voted for Evon hadn’t even read the website update of what the rewards would be. Kiel’s rewards were better. I mean come on, it’s Asura stuff!
Here’s another extremely easy way to do this. You don’t even need to move at all.
- Greatsword autoattack
- Mantra of Pain
- Restorative Mantras trait
Just spam Mantra of Pain and it should be enough to keep you alive. You might want to take Mantra of Recovery as well to be safe, but I didn’t need it.
Just had this issue. The chest for the western balloon in Queensdale was already open the first time I visited it. Not getting recognition for the achievement either.
Whenever I equip a Monocle, the eyes on my sylvari turn red. This persists even after removing it, and the only way to get the eyes back to normal is to logout.
From what I noticed in my attempts, the first right side plunderer always spawns when the timer is around 5:30, and the first middle plunderer spawns at around 3:00. I don’t know if that’s always the case or if they just follow a pattern as you mentioned. For sure, the position in which the other veterans spawn is a bit random.
Yes I had Berserker gear, although it might be possible to do using other gear with potion of outlaw slaying and food.
I recall this same video, and using it to help me, but now cannot find it. However, to the OP, do note that (and I have not yet tried) there was a ‘fix’ to the trials and it is now more difficult, and some videos will no longer be accurate (such as the Dulfy one). I did it pre-patch, so I can’t say anything, but below is a video I found of a mesmer doing it post-patch.
I uploaded that video. I posted it on reddit with some additional information, which I’ll copy here for easier access.
Had a smooth run, other than getting downed at one point, which could have been easily avoided -.-
Weapon: Greatsword. You might want to use Sword/Focus as a secondary set but I don’t recommend it. Switching will force you to fight 10 seconds in melee, and that puts you at more risk of getting killed.
Killing Plunderers: Illusionary Berserker + Mirror Blade (2 skill) + Mind Wrack should be enough. A couple of autoattacks will finish them off if they survive. Use Illusionary Wave (5 skill) when they are returning to give yourself time to kill them.
Gear: Almost full Berserker. Only back piece isn’t. Ruby Orbs on armor. The weapon sigil I had was completely useless for this. Can also use consumables to make life easier.
Skills: Blink for mobility.
Decoy and Mass Invisibility for stealth.
Signet of Illusions is not really required. I just use it in case I needed to recharge shatter skills. Can take Veil or anything else instead.
Traits: 30/20/0/20/0
More details at end of video.
Luck: This was my fourth attempt. In two of the previous ones, I got within 30 seconds of succeeding and died. In the other one, two veterans spawned close to the mortar when the first far side plunderer spawns and got 15 stacks of bleed with no condition removal. So yes you do have to get a bit lucky with enemy spawn points.
It’s just a fractal. How many current fractals actually tell a meaningful story? Most likely it will be another boring boss fight that people will hate if it takes longer than 15-20 minutes to complete. And yes this applies to the Thaumanova Reactor as well. People are just looking too much into it, expecting a huge story dungeon.
You have to complete 5 achievements for the daily for it to count.
It’s hilarious that people keep saying that AP are meaningless, yet in the same post they defend the AP increase. And that they call achievement hunters elitists, when these GW1 veterans are the ones exhibiting elitism themselves.
Nobody is even close to getting all possible GW2 achievements (pvp and wvw), so that’s what I meant by losing time.
Why is no one tackling the elephant in the room?
Who cares about Achievement Points!?!
Seriously, this is the absolute first time I’ve heard of anyone competing for these things. They are as much a “leaderboard” as WWF is actual “wrestling.” They are trivial earnings at most, and just plain insignificant at the least.
Indeed, for you they aren’t. Plenty of other people care. Some people spend pretty much all their time in spvp to rank up as quickly as possible. Not everyone has the same goals as you.

Because this is Guild Wars 2. Why does it warrant an achievement in GW2 if you haven’t done anything to actually get it in GW2?
Secondly note what a previous poster also said, this game hasn’t been out a year. GW1 points are not impossible to get, even now.
Again, and time spent playing GW1 now will be time not spent in GW2, so you lose out anyway.
That comparison makes no sense. Nobody is saying that you shouldn’t get rewarded for it. Just not achievement points.
Ignores GW1. Whines about how he should be equal with those who didn’t. The logic.
How can you defend having GW2 achievements that are not obtainable in that game? Where’s the logic in that? If you have not realised, they are different games.
Do you know how long it takes to even GET 50/50? Even I don’t have 50/50 and I’ve been playing since Factions release! (well, my laziness was a factor….)
And what about those people who have spent 2000+ hours in GW2 to maintain a high spot on the leaderboard, only to now find out that they cannot keep up? At this point, even if they wanted to go back and get the HoM achievements, that would be time they would have to spend not working towards getting actual GW2 achievements.
Trust me you could get 500 points a heck of a lot easier/faster just playing gw2 don’t worry about it…..
Tell that to the people who have 10k+ AP…
As someone who has not played GW1, I have to agree it is quite unfair. The 20 AP it gave before was an insignificant amount, so I guess that was fine, but 500 is way too much, heavily influencing the achievement leaderboards.
And no ANet, this won’t make me buy and play GW1!
I know it was mentioned to using the Mystic Fountains, there is a problem with that. #1 there is no Mystic Fountain for the Chandelier Room and #2 whoever controls the Chandelier Room controls the puzzle until you get a big enough force.
You should not be able to control the Jumping Puzzle by sitting at the top of a room with range weapons that’s what needs to be changed.
The fountain before the well lasts long enough to take you past the chandelier room.
Everything about Crab Toss is bugged.
-Daily achievement doesn’t work.
-Crab Toss Champion achievement is awarded after the first game played, even if you don’t win.
-The person who actually wins gets the worst reward at the end.
It’s not a bug. You can throw it that far using the ‘2’ skill (Lob). You need to look up when doing it though or else it doesn’t work and you throw the keg on the ground right in front of you.
On the topic of laurels, apparently people are getting 10 laurels from completely the PvP Monthly now. I wonder if anything will be done to reward those who completed the PvP Monthly before, since 10 laurels (and another one for completing today’s daily after the update) is quite a significant amount.
Won’t this entice PvE players to come join us?
Probably not, since they can still get their laurel from PvE. Still a good change though.
