Bring on the deathstars…
The prototype is called Glory of Tyria. The laser is already working.
Trah.Pact.Corporation:
One-shooting Elder Dragons!
Just for you!
But with the route ArenaNet’s going, don’t expect another dragon! Ever! Cuz we got the “personal” nemesis aka Scarlet Briar to slap around for the next century – like any ol’ Saturday morning cartoon villain, she’ll just never die! 8D
And in the next update of Living Story heroes of Tyria will have to stop Scarlet before she changes all denizens of Tyria into chocolate cookies!!
Except those are not chocolates….
Those… Are….
-PLOT TWIST-
…Raisins…
I will be harsh.
Scarlet is just like the rest of gw2 lore – boring, shallow, silly, full of stupid jokes, memes and plot-holes, and generally butchered for the sake of fan-service.
Anet went with the cheapest route – make a crazy villain that kills for kittens and giggles. No need for writing interesting dialogues, just put some weird jokes and rl-references.
I won’t say it’s taken straight from some fan-fiction, because they tend to be super-dark and edgy and ‘mature’. Scarlet is just like the rest of lore – silly.
And her short-story… please… I swear, it was written after seeing the complaints about her. Scarlet from the story and Scarlet from the game are not even the same person, but after Canach I expected nothing more. I won’t even comment on the whole ’it’s not in-game’ thing as there were so many complaints about that. Anet listens – yeah right…
Now I only await the appearance of the mursaat. I am really curious how they will butcher them.
Oh well, nice seeing Anet taking the Blizzard path. Too bad that before the release this mmo was advertised as lore-frienldy… I wish only this game was called differently, maybe like “My Little Guild Wars 2: Teamwork is Magic”
Don’t you worry OP, we have Traeharne, you can’t be more perfect than that.
With so many references to Joker, Harley Quinn, etc., if Scarlet was more “Bane-ish” (Tom Hardy Bane, that is) so to speak, would that have been more appealing? Just curious …
(AS-IS) Scarlet Briar: Aaaaand that’s my cue. Hello, DR! My name is Scarlet, and I’ve come to play with you.
(BANEIFIED) Scarlet Briar: I will destroy Divinity’s Reach and then, when it is done and your city is ashes, then you all … have my permission to die.
One of the problems is that they copy too much. I know that every trope has been already used somewhere, but come on… Scarlet is a mix of cliches, she even has the freaking pig tails! Because, apparently every crazy, cute female just has to have pig tails…
Borderlands 2 shows that you can make a game that is both a parody and has interesting story.
Too bad that GW2 is some kind of mix of WoW and MLP.
Caithe > Logan > Zojja > Eir > Risen Chicken > Rytlock
Scarlet is probably just a lieutenant, or ‘champion’, if you prefer, of the true culprit, who is, of course, Snaff.
And he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids and their pet baby devourer.
Please, don’t give them ideas…
With zhaitan, atleast i sensed the danger as i traveled further south… seeing the corruption of undeath growing more gruesome and appalling, until finally I hit Orr. With Scarlet, all i think is…. meh.
It’s a jerk within me, but maybe it was Anet’s plan all along?
Don’t like Kormir? Here’s Trahearne!
Don’t like Zhaitan? Here’s Scarlet!
Still, IMO she is better than Zhaitan. Considering the amount of resources each of them have, Scarlet have caused far more damage then than lol-dragon. Not to mention she actually has some personality compared to Zhaitan(only Gaheron managed to be more flat than Zhaitan, that means something).
The thing that kitten es me off the most about her is that she isn’t a personal nemesis at all.
Maybe I misunderstood this, but when I read personal nemesis I think superman-lex luthor; batman-joker; link-ganondorf etc.
Yet she doesn’t even know that I exist. Why shoul I care about her?
Sure, she is a threat to all races of Tyria, nobody said she will stop at humans, but the dragons are also and I don’t think that Zhaitan was my personal nemesis, he didn’t even know that I exist. Actually Zhaitan was more personal than her, he killed your “friends” etc.
Well, she isn’t the most original villain ever but there is one reedeming quality…
She actually succeded in something. So compared to other villains who have 0 or next to 0 successes she doesn’t seem that bad.
Still if she would appear in any serious AAA (or even lower) RPG she would be considered a bad joke.
Ok, then Logan runs back because Jennah calls him. He doesn’t know the exact situation, only how Jennah described it to him (if she did). I won’t comment on the thing that from Jennah’s point of view it was like: “Hmmm, seems we have a massive slaughter here… Oh, I know, I’m gonna call Logan, maybe he will do something…. What brain? You tell me that he may be actually doing something more important while I want to send him into a suicide battle? Yup, pretty much brain.”
Then Logan arrives and finds out that charr prisoners don’t fight – one of the first things to do when situation seems to be that bad would be to free and arm the prisoners, I doubt that they would want to betray somebody at that point.
But it seems Logan was the only person with half of a brain to do that.
I can get that Jennah panicked because she touched ED’s mind, but come on – what kind of idiot was leading the defense of Ebonhawke?
And people say that Logan is a “failure”…
Or are guardians just really OP?
I didn’t read the book where DE confront Kralk (to be honest I didn’t read any book about GW) but as I understand Logan was called by Jennah to protect her when dragon minions attacked Ebonhawke. And I while I can understand how Logan could change the outcome of battle against Kralk (event though I find this stupid) I don’t get it how he was supposed to do anything significant in an Ebonhawke siege on his own. What was queen thinking, that a single man could save her from a whole army? And did she know where he is? I assume she didn’t. But then he could be anywhere so it was a really stupid thing to do.

My problem with those guys is mostly on individual level as they are full of backstabbing, greedy, crazy, brutal and not too bright evildoers. Really, does every Son has to be an idiot that greets others with words like “Argh!! You don’t understand us!! We are powerful and kill everything!! Jormag, Jormag, hallelujah !!!”
Where’s their smirk, honor, brain or personality?
And on the general level the idea that every race has to have some kind of evil counter-part is generally stupid, just as it was stupid in wow and I don’t know why they copied this. Ok, maybe they have some not-so-noble goals. Not everyone has to be some deep guy for the sake of deepness. But if they would have been powerful and have personality then I would love to hate them. Just like for example Handsome Jack from BL2 or Chaos Gods from Warhammer universe. Currently baddies are more like vermins. And when you have evildoers without interesting motives or without power then they become the “goblins” of the universe. Problem currently we have way too many goblins.
And bandits act the way they act because they apparently want to make queen look kittenhe isn’t able to deal with them. Genius!
What I would change:
1. Villains. First, they are mostly evil for the sake of evil, power-hungry etc. Just look at the renegade factions:
-Flame Legion: a bunch of power-hungry fanatics.
-Sons of Svanir: a bunch of power-hungry fanatics.
-Inquest: a bunch of power-hungry evil geniuses.
-Nightmare: a bunch of power-hungry sadists.
-Bandits: while some fight for the cause, most are just power-hungry anarchists.
I want villains like Gawin from the white stag, or most bad guys from human ps arc, like Kellach for example. They are not perfect but better than what we have here.
And make bad guys more serious and powerful. Have you ever feel threatened by the baddies in this game? Because I haven’t.
Generally more villains that I can symphatize with and more villains that beat the crap out of me.
2. Less jokes and real life references in general. Currently there are just too many of them. Less festivals. And stop using memes in all these jokes. I would rather see some clever humor than another charr acting like an internet cat.
3. Start showing instead of telling. Charr believe the victory at all cost is worth it? Awesome, show me some charr sacrificing civilians for the sake of victory, for example.
Humans have this unbreakable spirit? Awesome, show me some humans that still don’t give up, event though event the charr or norn in the team have lost all hope.
Orr is a terrifying place from the nightmares? Awesome, show that soldiers are scared, suffer from mental trauma etc. So far I have seen one npc act like that.
4. Zhaitan was weak. You can say about the starving thing etc. But oh come on! A freaking dragon had about 100 years to prepare and he had like what? TWO mouths?
ONE factory? Even saying things like: “Good job commander, I have sent orders to soldiers to look for other mouths, eyes and factories.” or something like that. But nope, it seems that all of Zhaitan’s reinforcements were destroyed by a single man/woman. It reminds me of a certain space station…
5. Stop with the rush. There is a reason why Blizzard never allows the big bad of the expansion to be beaten in the first patch. You know about the villains from the beggining and take a long journey to take them down. Here we have what: level 50 learn about Zhaitan being big bad. 50-70-creating the Pact, fighting against Risen. 70-80-taking fight to Zhaitan’s territory and ultimately destroying him. What? That’s it? It’s over? That’s one of the Elder Dragons, mighty god-like creatures that cause the apocalypse once in a while?
6. When I learnt about the technology I thought it would be really cool that during those 250 years races of Tyria developed. But… it’s kinda dumb. Norn don’t use any technology still, humans are in a slightly better condition, charr have those tanks etc. but never use them and asura do 99% of the work with their deus ex machinas. And magic is shown as pretty useless. No powerful mages. Even Trahearne who is a powerful necromancer prefers running with a greatsword. He used his powers once and that’s all.
7. Make our hero more interesting. More personal things happening. Don’t kill characters so often, but when you do then make sure thay you killed some important one. Nobody will care about Jimmy the Vigil soldier #12468, just because he said: “Hi, I’m Jimmy the Vigil soldier #12468, I have dreams and stuff, omg I’m dead.”
Make our characters more inteligent, make them take the initiative, not just listen to the orders all the time. I’m a commander by my own soldiers know better what to do than me?
These are just a few things off the top of my head.
+1(x3)
I agree in about 97%.
I’m all for jokes and light-hearted conent from time to time, but not the way Anet does it – throwing this into your face. This whole game feels like a one big Uldum from wow.
I kinda get the feeling that story is only enjoyable for hardcore lore-diggers (people who buy all books, read every blogspot or interview about lore, talk to every npc etc.).
So far living story only proved to be as bad, but maybe queen’s speech will change something.
(…) and that they did not want the players to have to read a “wall of text” to understand the context. (…)
Really? Then they failed badly… story via emails and out-of-game walls of texts.

I would really love it if people would stop trying to cram GW2 into their idea of what fantasy or sci-fi is and just let them tell a story and enjoy the ride.
IMO, GW2 is refreshing and does a great job of mixing both traditional fantasy with steampunk culture. It’s unique and fun and finally something new after years of the same ol’ thing.
It’s hardly the new thing. WoW is also mixing fantasy and technology since Warcraft 3 to be honest. Many Final Fantasy universes (and east fantasy in general it seems) are mixing fantasy and sci-fiction. Might & Magic universe used to be a sci-fiction disguised as fantasy.
IMO Anet favors technology (especially asuran) way too much. Yeah I get it, laser cannons, airships, tanks etc. are constantly used, can we now get some powerful mage, raining fire on enemies?
Eight different souls…
in eight different bodies…
Eight masters…
of eight unique fighting styles…
All of them cursed by the same fate:
OMG y i suck so much when othrs r so op do lolnet even care about me ???!!!1111
- Ugly armors, clipping issues etc.
- Constant problems with camera.
- The whole running on all 4 is really bad, it makes me feel very clunky and slow (like I was running in slow-motion), makes jumping puzzles harder. Worgen from WoW also run on all 4 but in their case it’s a ‘mount’ with a speedboost, thus it doesn’t look so bad.
- Lore looked promising but proved to be kinda bad (IMO of course), the whole “victory at all cost” is never shown, charr don’t use their technology like tanks etc. they prefer to shoot everything with mortars, just TOO MUCH jokes and I don’t mean in-character jokes, just giant amounts of RL-reference jokes and memes (can i haz a cheeseburger, etc.)
- annoying racial mentor, Rytlock seems like he’s trying to look cool way too hard, not to mention his constant whining, being jerkish to everyone and not doing anything (I’m serious, Rytlock does the least from all DE members, in game at least, he just gives orders, while even Logan does something on his own) Pyre would eat him on breakfast.
- generally when I made my first charr I was thinking more in terms of EotN charr, who were fierce, brutal and honorful. These new charr look like a bunch of kittens (no censorship here) in comparison.
Just in case, charr was my first character.

Standard bad guy syndrome. They’re the mooks we kill, ergo, they’re inept.
Now take allied NPC’s. If they were able to complete events without a player’s help this game wouldn’t be very challenging. Ergo, a whole battalion of Seraph is unable to deal with two bandits stealing apples from a Shaemoor farm.
I would agree with you, but even lorewise bad guys are shown as really weak. First, look at all the renegade factions and events involving them. How many of them are like: “Oh god, baddies want to steal/break/sabotage something again, let’s deal with them quickly boys and have a nap.” Baddies are usually treated as annoying vermins by us (maybe with the exception of Ventari Sylvari – Nightmare Court, but plantmen treat everything very seriously).
And look at the dialogs, there are many situations like:
Friendly npc is interrogated: “I won’t tell you anything, torture me all you want”
Bad guy is like: “Please don’t kill me, I’ll tell you everything!”
Friendlie: some snarky comment
Baddie: …. you are stupid, I’ll kill you!!
vs
Baddie: some snarky comment
Friendlie: some snarkier comment
Baddie:….. ‘rage’
etc.
And I won’t comment on inability to destroy a balloon using an airship….
I feel the same. Carpet and her Authorized Clowns…. ehem…. Scarlet and her Aetherblade Pirates seem to be very incompetent, just like every other “ebil” organization in this game. The opening ceremony assault was really pathethic. They didn’t achieve anything during that, other than losing another bunch of thugs of course.
Also NPCs kinda kitten me off when commenting about them: “Hey, remember that they are like super dangerous, doesn’t matter that we killed just about 20 of them without any losses and problems.”
And if they really have other goals, like sabotage something while other members will fight to get others attention, then how can they (pirates) agree on this? Hey guys, we gonna send you on a suicide mission, cause reasons, but don’t worry, your sacrifice won’t be forgotten(it will, lol).
Who has highly advanced tanks in their city, but refuses to use them and prefers using old mortars?
Certainly-not-Charr.
A giant air-ship the size of the Elder Dragon?
Asura(mostly) did it.
Portal gates that allow you to teleport from one place to another?
Asura did it.
A giant net of small teleporting devices that allow to easily move around the world?
Asura did it.
A pretty much every scanning device that you use in game?
Asura did it.
A device that allows you to mind-kitten an Elder Dragon?
Asura did it.
A device that allows you to move around in a virtual reality?
Asura did it.
A device that allows you to go into another dimension, and see the alternate or true events of the past?
Asura did it.
A giant air-ship the size of the Elder Dragon?
Asura(mostly) did it.
A powerful laser cannon that 0.99-shots an Elder Dragon?
Asura did it.
A giant, floating factory of killer toys?
Asura did it.
And pretty much every other device that actually do a thing that is highly desirable at the moment?
Asura did it.
PS.
Ctrl+v <3
1. Boring story (both personal and living).
2. Childish, cartoonish world, full of rainbows, sunshines and RL reference-jokes.
3. Weak, pathethic bad guys, moustache-twirling villains, bad guys can’t even win a single fight.
4. This game should be called My Little Guild Wars 2: Teamwork Is Magic.
5. Limiting player characters with weapon-specific skills because they have some weird dream of this game becoming LoL 2.0, generally sucking any fun out of the game because they want to be “e-sport quality”.
I’ll just copy-paste a thing I posted in a similiar old thread. (about DW)
I would like better DW animations and believe it wouldn’t be that hard as some stated i this thread.
1.“Pure” offhands(focus, shield, torch, warhorn) do not need a special animation, when using them your character would have animations of using single 1-handed weapon.
2. Ranged offhands should have special animation only when paired with a ranged mainhand (thief’s p/p, ranger’s a/a). It doesn’t need to be something fancy, just shooting with one pistol, then with another etc.
3.There should be a single animation per MAINHAND: when I’m a warrior animations for a/a, a/s, a/m are the same. It worked in WoW where “normal” 1-handed weapons (axe, sword, mace) had the same animations. The only exception would be offhand dagger, there should be additional animations for this weapon.
4.Only autoattack (#1 skills) should have different animations based on DW.
5.About PvP: it would be only additional burden of knowledge, basically different animations for the same skill, it’s not the same thing like the same animations for different skills. And after all when new weapons will be added to the game PvPers will have to learn new animations, like it or not.
So for now we should have:
Warrior: 3 new animations (for a/s/m mainhand).
Guardian: 0 new animations.
Engineer: 1 new animation for p/p.
Ranger: 3 new animations(1 for a/a, 1 for s/d, 1 for s/a).
Thief: 3 new animations(1 for s/d, 1 for d/d, 1 for p/p).
Necromancer: 1 new animation(1 for d/d and I’m not sure if anybody uses d/d on necro)
Mesmer: 1 new animation for s/s.
Elementalist: 0 new animations(for now dagger MH animations look well with focus and another dagger, but this could change with additional offhands added, like torch).
And about realism: we have a warrior that starts spinning in place with GS and then shoot in some direction while spinning, I’m 99% sure no medieval soldier used 2-h sword in that way. Animations should not be realistic, they should be cool.
Thanks all for the replies.
I’m not asking for realism (after all it’s a fantasy), I just don’t want mobs scream “computer game” in my face. The idea that normal, veteran, champion should have auras is kinda cool, but I’d rather see something like: normal bandit wears some common armor, while veteran wears something better and champion uses some rare unique (amongst bandits) equipment etc.
While I know that the whole thing with wolf lvl.64 beating the crap out of earth elemental lvl.23 is a necessary evil, the zone shouldn’t break the immersion among itself. As long as this is done the level scaling can do the rest.
So I don’t want to see things like:
- in Cursed Shore champion abominations and normal abominations are exactly the same, except the chamion has bigger numbers.
- the fact that in Orr simple risen thrall is as powerful as risen abomination
(SPOILERS HERE)
- that in PS I beat the crap out of at least 3 different Eyes of Z. (including the sovereign one) but when I meet an Eye outside of PS (in Malchor’s Leap) then it is far harder than those in PS.
- or CM story mode. The second boss is a simple guardsman, yet requires the united effort of Logan, Zojja and 5 experienced adventurers to be defeated.
Im not complaining that mobs are difficult. They arent. Im complaining about the fact that in mmos a wolf can kill a dragon, provided wolf has bigger level. I know that lore =\= gameplay but its 2013 and Gw2 wants to be a revolutionary mmo so might as well end with this bad (imo) habit.
By that I mean less describing enemies behind stats like levels and normals, veterans etc..
Also, while this thread may seem like a suggestion thread it is not one. Instead of providing a solution I write here things I don’t like and want to see other opinions.
Back to topic. One of the things that annoy me in mmos is the fact I never look at mob’s appearance but rather on any special symbols and numbers around its portrait. It doesn’t matter if it is dragon minion or dredge or moa, if they have “correct” numbers I engage them, otherwise I do not. I never think like “Oh boy, its an aatxe, better be careful.” but rather like “This mob #364218 has 2 levels less than me. Conclusion – obliterate(even though its a giant icebrood beast and I should think twice before engaging this enemy).” or “This mob #4624719 has champion status. Conclusion – call for more people( even though its just a single bandit and my hero should have no reason for calling for help).”
Other thing is that while there are a few mobs that use dodgable attacks or other moves that can be prevented there are still far too many mobs who just simply autoattack and by that the whole comes to wow-like “my stats vs yours”. Of course its talking mostly about open world.
By that logic you may think that karkas are perfect in my view, and you are almost right. They are far from perfect but a step in right direction. I don’t have to look at the portrait (mostly) and karka can either obliterate me or be obliterated which depends on how I time my dodges etc. Veterans (adults) are very funny to solo.

“It’s raining Charr! Hallelu….”
Blam!
“CHARR NEED NO GODZ!!!11”
I love this argument. Raiders from wow usually said to non-raiders similiar things: “you don’t have to raid, and if you don’t raid you don’t need the raiding gear, dungeon gear should be enough for you to enjoy non-raid content”
But if you mention raiding in any form near those people then they usually get mad, call you an elitist and redirect to wow. Funny, isnt it?
Having just completed the personal story (before the dungeon), we also have to take into account that trahearn performed the cleansing ritual, significantly reducing Zhaitans control of Orr itself. Without having literal control over the land anymore while the purity of the cleansing ritual spreads throughout the waters of Orr, Zhaitan’s power was crippled immensely, and it was only following that major act that the pact could head out, full army at hand, to take down Zhaitan.
So to me, it would kind of make sense that Zhaitan was as easy as he was (apparently, i haven’t defeated him yet) considering the above (on top of the previously mentioned eyes and mouths of Zhaitan being destroyed) and wasn’t simply three guys on canons took down an elder dragon.
In this I can believe, after all sylvari were born to fight dragons, it would be logical that they know ways and/or have powers to destroy them.
It was the deus ex machina called “Glory of Tyria” that damaged Zhaitan heavily, we just finished him off.
I love how people respond with “we destroyed his corpse factory and killed his mouth so he got weakened”. So it’s perfectly okay that a creature of god-like power had ONLY 1 or 2 mouths to consume artifacts and ONLY a few troop factories through about 100 YEARS since his awakening? And that those really valuable assets were defended by a bunch of zombies only, instead of entire legions led by risen high wizards(or any other champion of that kind)? It’s stupid and as bad writing as Death Star from episode 4. Yeah, it’s possible by the rules of the universe it appears in but doesn’t change the fact that it’s stupid. The same thing was with Kralk and idk sword made from his spine? So, if a mouse gets a piece of my thumbnail then it’s logical she could one-shot me with it? I know it’s a bad comparison and that there were more things to this fight but you get the point. Even if this sword had a lot of ED’s magic within it, still ED should have infinitely more power, thus the sword shouldn’t damage him too much.
And to OP: I don’t believe that it will get better considering how lackluster stories of living story have been so far. Anet just decided to make parodies and put as many jokes as possible.
If you ask me, the Pact shouldn’t even make it to the Orr. It should be crowded with undead and we should use stealth, tactics and arcane knowledge while scouting and sneaking through Orr. Instead an army goes in without bigger problems, it tells a lot about “power” of Zhaitan.
1. Boring, story and bad storytelling, too much pop-culture jokes and references.
2. The lack of weapon skill pools.
3. Melee > ranged in PvE.
Primordus has been fighting with dwarfs for about 200 years.
Jormag ferociously devours one quaggan village after another.
Kralkarorrik still cant get over the fact that asura almost beat him.
After DSD started watching a bit too much hentai all friends run from him and now Tyria is overcrowded with aqua races.
Mordremoth is leveling herbalism in WoW.
Seriously, read the wiki about dragons and how they don’t do anything for vast amounts of time. They should be called elder slowpokes.
OP is right and posted things that didn’t even occur to me earlier. I decided to try sw:tor to check storylines and because it’s free. And oh boy, I won’t comment about its MMO elements, but the storyline simply outclasses gw2’s. There is no need to read dumb blogs, stalk the forums or use other outgame sources to understand what’s going on. The story is mature, full of drama and plot twists, characters are interesting, villains are dangerous and have motives other than “I’m evil cause good is dumb”, my hero isn’t an idiot who just follows orders etc… People cry that mr.“Diz wunt end wel !!!11” steals the credit, but in fact he is actually thinking instead of your character. “Commander” of the Pact actually lacks skill in… commanding and the only decisons are about how do I prefer to get something done. Your character serves no other pourpose than to be a stupid bodyguard.
What angers me the most in personal/ living story is that I see a great universe being butchered by the bad story. The story of gw1 wasn’t super awesome, but it was good, here I believe writers spend more time thinking about another “clever” jokes and pop-culture references than actual story. And stupid deus ex machinas like Glory of Tyria (omg dragons are like super dangerous but no problems we haz now a super duper ship that one-shots dragons u just have to press 2 to finish them off). The last story was just as bad: a James Bond parody + Scooby Doo reference + another deus ex machina (super powder that does stuff!!). I really am afraid of seeing mursaat in this game, because they will probably get reduced to MLP reference.
My suggestion to ArenaNet: I see two paths they could take:
• Give up. Let’s be frank, the GW1 community cared about a storyline, but the GW2’s community doesn’t; it’s far more interested in farming, grinding and exploiting than in actually enjoying the experience of playing the game. A poor storyline surrounded by a lot to grind (aka the Southsun event, with horrible storytelling but a 200% buff to Magic Find) is more than enough to keep this community busy.
I believe that’s what they decided to do. I don’t blame, because this community is one of the least interested in lore I have ever seen. Farming is all that matters here.

Naked Tybal on your back? Thats cool.
Naked Sieran on your back? Thats very cool.
Naked Forgal on your back? OH GOD PLEASE NO WHY!!!
On the internet nobody knows you are a cat……..
Nobody…
(snip) aside from SAB that was cool and unique.
Is this bad that when I think about the Big Bad of SAB (Lord Vanquish?) I want to beat that jerk for kindnaping Mot… err a princess Miya, but when I see something about ED I just yawn?
IMO Dragons aren’t really a big threat, both from lore and gameplay perspective. In lore it takes one saladhead to say: “Hey guys, maybe we should stop arguing with each other start working together?” (Genius!) And BOOM, one Elder Dragon less.
Sorry but I have seen many “God-like” villains executed better:
1. Reapers from ME, even after all the butchering they got in ME3.
2. Chaos Gods from Warhammer universe.
3. Elder Gods from Cthulhu mythos.
4. Old Gods from Warcraft, even though they are a copy-paste of Lovecraftian universe.
And Zhaitan will be forever remembered in my book as the most dissapointing villain ever.
I would like better DW animations and believe it wouldn’t be that hard as some stated i this thread.

I personally would love it if all of these “outside of the game” bits of lore could be hooked up to the random books and scrolls and random papers lying around the world. They’ve got a good number of great shorts lying around and I’d love to hunt for them and collect them in-game ala codex entires in Bioware games.
+1. That’s a good idea.
I totally understand OP, I feel similiar about villians.
Let’s start with renegade factions:
1. Bandits, in theory they are used by Caudecus to embarass the queen, they believe they are fighting against tyrant, basically a bunch of simple men and women that believed in Cadecus’ lies. In fact they are a bunch of psychos that only care about killing and stealing, every time you can talk to them in PS they are all like: “huehuehue we are so evil”. I still remember the commoner’s personal story arc, where you learn about the plan of destroying the orphanage, and bandits acting like: “wohoo we will be able to kill children!”.
2. Inquest. They are pro-asura organization who want asuras to become the master race, yet most of the time they sabotage other asuras. Also they are super amoral.
3. SoS and FL are laughable and pathethic (in my eyes). Through the whole game they are shown as goofs, mindless brutes or absolute morons. Often I felt bad for them when they got their kitten kicked another time. In fact they remind me of cartoon villains.
And so on… Dredge, NC, Krait… All of them are super black, evil and not interesting. Dredge – race that is a giant pun at communism. NC – a bunch of sylvari who by kidnapping and torturing and being a bunch of sadists want to prove that The Pale Tree is a tyrant by forcing Ventari teachings. Krait…. nuff said.
And then villains themselves. Kudu, Gaheron, Faolain etc…. all are a bunch of super evil, mwahahahing, moustache twirling villains, psychos, doing evil for evil’s sake/power/just because they can. And they are not even good at doing evil things
And Dragons. Not sure if they are doing anything (DSD maybe is doing something because we get those new ocean races appearing). Judging only by Zhaitan they are a mess:
1. They are not “primal forces of nature” because Risen are cappable of: building towers, fortifications, anti-air (!) cannons, sending assasins etc.
2. Final fight and another asuran deus ex machina, nuff said.
It seems that Anet have big problems with writing interesting bad guys.
Spoilers ofc.
1. Zhaitan does almost nothing since he rised Orr from the ocean. Does one tsunami (and he probably didn’t even planned it) that damaged LA, then sits doing almost nothing for about 100 years other than attacking some small villages. Ah yes, there is also his armada which only purpose was to explain to us why we couldn’t visit Elona or Cantha from the beginning. Then he gets roflstomped by Pact in 1-2 months it seems. Not very impressive for an elder dragon.
2. Kralkatorrik (?) awakens, gets roflstomped by 6 mortals, a wolf and a traitor dragon lieutenant, survives only because Logan decides to left the party to save the queen. Again not very impressive for an elder dragon.
3. Primordus can’t deal with a race of stone dwarfs for 200 years. To be honest it shows the dwarfs to be true heroes of the EOTN instead of Slayers of Great Destroyer. 50 years vs 200 years…
4. About Mordremoth and DSD we know almost nothing so far.
So it leaves me with the Jormag for now.
Just playing the game and not reading any books it seems Molten Alliance had done more harm to Tyria so far than all dragons combined.

I’m interested in getting GS personally, should I expect some 8-bit sounds when swinging or something like that ?
So how are warriors now?
…
…
Alive and kicking!
Agreed, I’m going to spend with her a bit of time in this living story I presume so I don’t want her to scare me all this time. Just make these eyes smaller, they are not that bad after all.
From the look on her face I can judge there’s a flame legion assassin behind her.
BUAHAHAhahahaha…haha…ha…
I hate myself…
1. Make DE more mature, so far they act like a bunch of kids, do nothing, cry all the time etc. Seriously, average joe in real life is more mature than them, and they are supposed to be heroes. Mhenlo and co. were better.
2. Get rid of Trahearne and other pointless, unmemoriable characters. Everytime somebody mentions cool and memoriable characters they mention mentors. Yea, they are cool, but 3 for the whole game?
3. Our choices should matter more. Orders too. Get rid of the Pact.
4. Bigger control over what my character is saying/make less cutscenes and more dialogues with choices even if they have to be silent. Seeing my battle-hardened charr going around and acting like an idiot or licking butts of DE or Trahearne wasn’t very fun.
5. Dragons being more dangerous. I really have hard time believing that this is the world on the brink of destruction. The only Dragons’ victories we see in PS are Claw Island (which we quickly retake) and some small village of some minor race (and even then it’s said that most escapes). Also killing some pointless and boring guy I won’t remember in 5 minutes once in a while is NOT how the supposed-to-have-the-power-of-gods creatures should act.
6. Less light-hearted content please. I’m all for laughing and usually laugh at kids that want everything to be “super-emo-dark-evil-bullcrap”, but come on! Orr felt like a picnic, full of jokes, cheesy one-liners etc. And I like Tybalt or Sieran, let me tell you.
