I’ve already accepted the fact that I will get my first legendary in 2019.
Most people have, haha!(me too)
Though to add to the subject at hand,
While I do agree it’s a load of kitten to let some people in on info that an item which is useless now, will be useful next week and of high demand…. I want you all to put yourselves in that person’s shoes, there is -no- -way- that any of you would not take advantage of said information. And I know there’ll be plenty of people that will be all pure and innocent about this ‘I totally wouldn’t because I know it’s wrong and not fair and blah blah blah’, it’s human nature to take advantage of a situation, and it is always unfair.
Source: Life is unfair.
You’re absolutely right
I would take advantage of it myself, and along the way… I would tell my close friends about it too. That being said…. Is exactly why I created this thread. Which leads me to another thought…
Every single post in this thread that states the scale of this inside information not being large enough for a single account to be that big of a deal is not thinking outside the box. Lets say I am one of the privelaged people to get this information prior to the public… Well, it just so happens that I don’t care about in game gold. I care about making real money.
How much would this information be worth to a person in charge of a gold selling site, which has thousands of accounts doing his dirty work for him. That gold seller could have made enough gold off of a thousand accounts from this early information to provide enough gold to supply customers for a few days. Heck, for a few days, he might be willing to give that person a thousand dollars for said information. Looking further ahead, you realize that I am about to come into an agreement with that gold seller to provide him more information two weeks later for the next update.
Were not just talking about getting rich in game anymore… Were talking about hurting the game now. Were talking about providing insider info to the very thing that hurts the economy, and the game itself. Just think how many media providers got this info, and then all it takes is just one to make that call.
Don’t give out trading information early to the media… Thank you.
dear Shaiden, could i request you change the wording in your OP regarding Dulfy? i’m not here to argue if she deserves in-game gold or now, and tbh, i believe and feel she and her team do what they do because they enjoy it..
while your questions and concerns are legit, they’re worded in a sense where you’re implying that Dulfy did use such “insider information”. even if only as an example. you didn’t have to bring the attention to her name like that.
Done, as I agree. Apologies.
Good job… Hands down, this is the best achievement interface I have seen in a game. Especially that it goes out of its way to not make you feel like crap that you missed an event, or you didn’t quite complete all achievements for an event. It simply doesn’t put them there.
Everything is organized well. I give you a 9.9 out of 10 for implementation. The only thing I don’t understand is uncompleted achievements. I shouldn’t have to hover over the icon to see how many achievment points I have already earned. It should be flip flopped in my opinion. It should clearly just like completed ones how many I currently have, and if I hover over the icon, it shoudl tell me what the next tier will give me. Just my opinion.
Again, nice implementation. Good job.
I imagine John Smith is a millionaire in-game in terms of gold. He knows all these things before any of the patches go live. I’m sure he sold his Crystalline Dust when he could, bought his <INSERT INVESTMENT HERE> low / sold it super high, and so on. That all said, it’s just how the cookie crumbles. I know you said that your case doesn’t really apply to ANet employees, but really, he’s probably the real winner here.
True that. In regards to that’s just how the cookie crumbles… your right. Not sure why I felt compelled to voice my opinion on this one. Anet will provide info as they see fit, and there is not a darn thing I can do about it except… accept it.
Doesn’t mean I think it’s fair to your playerbase though.
I can honestly say that never occurred to be before. It is true though. The sneak peeks to provide a large advantage to Dulfy.
However on the flip side, for the amount of work Dulfy does for this community for free she deserves to be paid large sums of ingame gold at the very least. I hope she makes 1000’s of gold with this information as some form of compensation.
Agreed, Dulfy does provide an incredible site, and is one I frequent regularly. However, I don’t believe it is for free
She was just an example though, and it’s human nature to spread information to friends. Do the friends of these media insiders deserve this information? Hell no.
I am all about providing them information ahead of time to provide to us prior to release, but not trade information. In my opinion, that is shady.
Even though things like this happen in real life, I feel insider information that is provided to the media prior to the public shouldn’t include information about high supply materials that are going to be used for new content boxes.
How is that fair to your playerbase that has to wait to be hand fed this information at the last minute? Maybe I am just blowing this out of proportion, but it sure seems shady to me.
I can totally understand ANet employees knowing, and some of them might pass this information along. However, what the media should be entitled too prior to the public should not include any updates that will effect trade.
I work hard for gold. I research, read, and play… I am not however handed a free gold ticket like the media is being given on a regular basis. Am I jealous? Probably… Regardless though, I think ANet needs to provide limited information to the media when it comes to trade items.
Edit: Removed example calling out a particular community member.

I don’t remember this mustache being available…. Did someone enable this by accident? It doesn’t matter to me, because that mustache is AWESOME
They didn’t change the drop rate. Because if they did, then I wouldn’t be getting 1-2 coffers per kill on those holo mobs. And no, I’m not joking, I almost always get a coffer from them.
The first two days I did as well. However, that is no longer the case, and it is obvious to me anyway that the drop rate is lowered.
Also, I am well aware that developers and publishers pay people from the deep web to constantly contradict accurate complaints on forums. It is clear that is happening as well.
It’s sad to see what is happening to what was such a great hobby for me when this game was released.
One more thing…. 2000 coffers and 1 ticket. Don’t you think that is a little excessive? Yea, in my opinion, a new direction for events is needed.
Wow, if you expect me to believe you didn’t change the drop rate on coffers, then you clearly have zero respect for the people that are keeping your game alive.
It’s blatently obvious that you decreased the drop rate. I have farmed everyday for an hour at a time several times per day. Before you changed it, I was getting 50 per hour. After the ninja decrease, I am getting 15 an hour.
I use to think Arena Net was different from all the other shady developers. Not only do you implement these atrocious crates and coffers that have an obsurd drop rate of weapon tickets, you flat out lie right to your customers about changes that are not in patch notes.
I just came back to play roughly 2 weeks ago, and I am so quickly getting a sour attitude towards this game and the folks driving it that I highly doubt I will be playing for long. I do know for sure, is you will NOT be getting anymore money from me for RNG boxes.
That reminds me… They did something like that with Mad King event. You could use stuff you got out of chests to make more chests. If they implemented something like that for karka shells and all the other junk, it would make three groups of people happy.
1. The people who are… extremely upset about not getting a ticket after opening 100’s of crates, would get another shot.
2. The group that don’t even like the skins could hold onto there crafting materials and actually make some profit, since a good majority would be using there supply to make new crates.
3. Finally, the group that insists on the skins be ultra rare win also… as we all know that the extra chance to get a ticket from the new crates would still leave many without a ticket.
Just do it already, and make people feel heard.
I thought you asked this very nicely. I am right there with ya man. I feel cheated and taken advantage of from these crates. Would love to see some acknowlegment from someone saying they have been listening, and are going to implement a way for us to get rid of all the stupid crafting materials and actually get something we wanted.
One ticket, crate #148
Out of 150 crates, I get one ticket on crate 148. Completely unacceptable. I was more upset that I got one at 148 crates than I was excited.
I started playing swtor again a few months ago, and I have to say there crates are waaaaay better than what gw2 provides.
It literally makes me sick to my stomach what bull crap they pulled off with these southsun crates. And to think, today is my first day coming back to gw2 after about 3 months. I doubt I will last more than a few weeks if they pull this same crap with the Dragon Bash.
WOW, these crates are an absolutely F’ing JOKE.
It has been a while since I posted, but I do read the spvp forums everyday, regardless if I rarely play in the mists anymore. I come to the forums everyday to see if things are happening that will bring me back.
Well…. If there was one thing that was a sure fire way to get me back, it was a solo queue option. Sucks to see there are no plans for it.
What I want to know is how they have the nerve to ask us to bug test their game when they should have it fixed in the first place.
So are you still experiencing this issue, or are you basing your comment on the original post? if the latter, then I might reconsider based on his oh so intelligent and detailed post.
My guess? Is the NPC was being attacked by mobs his group ran past, or the NPC was dead. I doubt this got past ANet, and am voting for the issue to be a problem between the seat and the keyboard for this user.
How you can respond to that in a civil manner is beyond me… You must really like your job. It shows. Thank you for the great game. Bugs happen, it sucks to say something is fixed and turns out someone still might have an issue. Most of the time its a problem between the seat and the keyboard though.
I look forward to your dungeon overhaul btw, can’t wait to start doing dungeons, my experience has been way too bad.
Stick around, there’s a chest at the end of the event. Several people in our group got precursors, and I believe everyone gets a very nice exotic accessory and a 20-slot bag.
yea right.
FOV (Field of View) Changes Beta Test - Feedback Thread

Thank you for letting us Beta test this feature. The difference is definitely a step in the right direction… When I logged on with this, I liked it. However…. When I was able to zoom way out from yesterdays bug with Mad King dungeon, I LOVED IT.
Do you notice the difference there? I like what you got us testing, I LOVED what you for some god aweful reason don’t want us to have.
Thanks anyway, it is better.
I am gonna have to go ahead and…. COMPLETELY AGREE with the OP. I want to like dungeons so bad, but it is just not happening. Every story mode I have done, has been the exact opposite of fun. They actually make me say out loud that I will never do that again.
Explorable modes have been… okay. Hit or miss with them, but for the most part I can’t stand the dungeons in this game. Its unfair, but I actually get disappointed when someone joins my group and they are at the recommended lvl for the dungeon. Something is definitely wrong there.
Also, who the heck is going to rerun a story mode with the current reward system for them. I played story mode for two reasons, to have fun and learn more about gw2. I could care less about any of your tips for a second playthrough of “Story Mode”.
It’s funny, I logged onto the dungeon forums to find a post just like this, because I too am INCREDIBLY dissappointed with the story mode dungeons. So far, I have cleared Caudecous Manor and Ascalonian Catacombs in story, and explorable.
In my opinion, something is terrible wrong with the balance in story mode encounters… Now I do understand that your lvl is scaled back to 40 for story mode, but a lvl 80 is still going to be more powerful than a true lvl 40 character. However, I joined a group for CM story, with 3 lvl 80’s, and 2 mid to high lvl 40’s. The run… was a complete disaster. I did not have fun ONE second once the fighting actually started taking place.
I kept saying to myself, “this is a story mode?” This is a complete joke, as we all kept dying, and dying, and dying. Now I understand that some coordination is required for dungeons, and we had none, but if your going to throw the holy trinity away, this kind of bull crap is not going to work for me.
The same thing happened to me for AC story mode… I am just baffled that for a dungeon that is played solely for expanding the story, it is this difficult, and provides you with bare bones minimum reward for completing.
First off, thank you for the very fun game.
Second… Even though BLTC is the best AH in any mmo I have ever seen, I wanted to make a suggestion to make it even better for the people like myself that actually have fun buying and selling.
My transactions… As I am constantly posting AND purchasing large value to small value items, I would very much like a simple grand total under each category of the “My Transactions” tab. This would help us keep track of incoming and outgoing gold on a larger scale.
That’s all I got for now, thanks for reading
Wanted to add that I think this should be added to the bug list for sceptor.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Scepter-is-faster-in-melee/first#post236072
Great catch! I always felt something like this was happening, but never took the initiative to test it. Nice job. This should definitely be placed in the main Mesmer bug list, as distance should not affect the attack rate, just like with the staff…
Another reason why the scepter kind of sucks tbh.
Yes please. I enjoy spvp, but not wvw.
