Back in my day, players from many mmos got sick of the stat gear grind and gw2 promised not to have that. People tend to forget that this was one of main reasons they bought gw2 (including me). Back in the old days, you could dress in full exotics with medium effort and play with different stat combinations & builds, and that was a big part of fun in the game.
Then ascended rings came. Then ascended weapons. And now ascended armor. Also time gating on all of these. And the stats combined from every ascended slot now make a huge difference compared to exotics.
So no, I will not appreciate ascended armor. And I never heard someone say ‘’Oh it is so much fun being in front of a crafting station’’ or ‘’I can’t wait the day they introduce ascended armor’’
Personally, I love traveler runes with a meditation roaming spec with sw/foc & gs. Look it this way : roaming guardian has both mobility and cond remove problems when roaming solo. With traveler runes you solve 1 of the 2 problems, and yes, you can chase down targets if they run away and kill them. You can deal with conditions with food and CoP and the mindset ‘’I will murder him before he applies many conditions on me.’’
However for zerg there are much better options than traveler runes, since blasting in static fields, symbol of swiftness and random people around you giving swiftness, make swiftness not a huge problems. Hoelbrak, meladru, soldier, 2monk 2water 2traveler are much more viable options for both you and your team.
For PvE, no point in traveler runes. Go berserker with ruby orbs or scholar runes.
I understand that you only want to have 1 set to do everything, but the truth is you can’t have everything with just 1 armor set. But, if you don’t care to be ‘’the best’’, then anything you enjoy can work.
So, is it 33% or 20% cond duration ? Has anyone been able to test this ?
Dead-Eye’s shot can’t be blocked, but can he blinded and made miss?
Yes, I am 99% sure that blind works on his killshot.
0/5/30/30/5, shelter, SY, Retreat, SYG, p/v/t with divinity runes, all berserker trinkets, scepter/focus, using endurance regen food. After 11 tickets I finally managed to get Light up the Darkness achiev.
Phase 1 (before the 3 orbs) : becomes easy after several tries, as the spawning of Aoe and shadows is almost always the same. Try to finish phase 1 without using your utility skills as you gonna need them in phase 2.
Phase 2 : The trick to win this imo is to understand that you can’t always get to the safe place where Aoe can’t hit you, you have to dodge through them as they fall. The timing is tricky, but after several tries you can do it and act like the aoe was never there. Keep damaging liandri with scepter 2 and autoattacks while you run (don’t overdo it though if you try the achievement).
Some general tips : Scepter 2 kills instantly the rifts. Keep vigor up by attacking liandri/shadows + endurance food is almost perma dodge. When you see a rift spawn but you can’t yet hit it cause of distance, use SYG until you get there. When the screen gets colourful and feel that you are gonna die by Aoe, use renewed focus. DODGE DODGE DODGE.
I did it with the same boss using gambits : on fire, exhausted, crippled, -dmg done, +dmg taken.
I used berserkers sword/focus with judges, syg, sy, shelter and renewed focus, with 0/5/30/30/5 spec with p/v/t with divinity runes and all berserker trinkets. I am sure there are better ways to optimize gear/build but at least it may give you an idea how to do it.
I mitigated dmg with focus and sword 3 skills, while teleporting in his face with flashing blade and judges when he does his teleport for killshot, and if that failed I used renewed focus to block it.
If I understand correctly, you want to take a healer role in zergs by sacrificing all your damage options and focus only in support ?
If that is the case, sure, it is viable if this is your playstyle, however (imo) the battles in zergs don’t last long enough to make a huge difference as a healer. But it is nice when you siege towers/keeps to heal the flame ram guys with dodge, symbols, courage book etc. Keep in mind though, that even with huge amounts of healing power, if the person next to you is a bad player or in a wrong position, you can’t keep him alive by yourself.
Personally, I would rather focus more on boon distribution in the group with boon duration runes/traits than focusing only on heals. Or get both healing power and boonduration.
What is your opinion about pack runes in a wvwvw build ? They got lots of power, precision, and a 5% chance on getting hit for swiftness and fury on you and allies (not sure if AH heals you for that), 2 boons that guardian lacks (I dislike ‘’Retreat!’’ with passion).
Knight’s armor with soldier runes served me well through PvE and WvW for both 15/30/20/5 and 30/30/10 specs. For trinkets you can go a mix of berserkers, knights and maybe 1 or 2 ascended rings with p/v/t depending on how you want to balance your stats among defense and offense.
