I would love to be able to run a viable Spirit Build again. IMO they should give you the option to run with spirits or pets. Although it was fun running around with my pet and 3 spirits activated during the BWE3…I was never lonely.
It’s not the patches that annoy me, they could very well be patching and polishing some classes first, even those that don’t need much love (WoW did something like this way way way back, one class at a time). It’s the total and utter lack of communication that is getting on my nerves.
Even if it was just a “we feel ranger is fine right now”, at least I’d know where I stand.
Totally agree…that’s why I created this and that’s what irritates me the most…more that 2 months since the last time they showed up in this forum…what a waste.
Title Says it all…. after the last two laughable updates I understand. Why would they want to come in when it’s the Profession Forum with the most complaining…..and all the complaining is definately warranted.
I agree…I run fractals all the time with my guildies…just pointing out some biases from the non ranger community

in WvW a trap build is useless, sorry to say that’s the problem. you’ll do far better with a longbow and zerker with 30/30/5/0/5
now to the OP: you cannot get close “caz of traps”? you kidding? you must take NO condition removal or stun breaks. on my trap ranger necro’s will eat me considering they can transfer conditions at least 2x while stacking more. ele’s have massive mobility and with a small amount of common sense don’t stick around in traps too long, or long enough for them to do tons of damage. entangle is just lols, learn to dodge(entangle is great if it lands, but easy to dodge and easy to get out of). thieves to me are the biggest problem, but for some reason they like to jump to me and steal(which puts them in my spike and flame trap…=melt)
You’re bang on Stone. Necros destroy my trap build. Rangers have 2 viable builds. The Bunker Ranger (0/0/30/10/30) and the Trapper Ranger (0/30/30/5/5) and they are only viable in certain cenarios. All this QQ-ing about Rangers is a joke. REALLY!!!

Wintersbark and Aether are the best looking bow skins in the game. I think they both look better than the legendary…IMO

My Ranger has Wintersbark and my Thief has Aether….:)
I like the way warhorn is now but IMO ANET would probably increase the cooldown of Hunters Call if they added a blind as part of their attempt to “Keep things balanced”, but a blind would be great.

Spirits Bite!It does suck that the heal is misplaced and hopefully it’ll get fixed promptly once it starts getting reported, but its not THAT bad. Drakes aren’t actually harmful to use, because Chomp is still doing daamge to the enemy (more damage than the amount they’re being healed). All its really doing is making Chomp do less damage and not helping the Drake itself get a bit of health back. Its a definate bummer, but not like the Drake is suddenly putting enemies back to full health or anything.
I know…I totally agree…I acutally use my drakes…:P
I guess what I’m pointing out is the alienation Rangers are subject to just because of the pets.

Although I agree with Peter, I would add and not sure Peter feels this way, but I think your thoughts are great ideas and like many great ideas and suggestions that have been posted here, they seem to fall on deaf ears and the subject ages and moves down the forum list into oblivion.
I think it’s inevitable that they will add this. They had it in GW1 for purchase, I’m sure they will have it in GW2 and it would probably be a pretty good money maker for Arenanet.

First off, let me say that I’ve got 4 level 80 toons. Guard, Warrior, Thief and Ranger and out of all of them, I really love my Ranger the most but have the least opportunities to play it since dungeon groups / fractals would rather have one of my other toons with them.
My wishlist.
1. Make the Ranger spirit build viable. Ran Spirit Ranger in BW and still to this day it’s the most fun I’ve had playing any class
2. Increase the IQ of pets…dunno how, just increase it.
3. Don’t let pet be targeted by Jade Maw and eaten by Jellyfish boss in Fractals.
That’s about it for me…well…one more….an increase in condition damage and direct damage for all weapons across the board would be nice….:P

Ye i want a white raven as well, but i gave up tbh. What annoys me the most tho is the ONLY decent shortbow skin in the game (i’m talking about the living shortbow ofc) is a hom reward only. I’d pay real money for that skin.
The best looking bows in the game are Wintersbark, Aether, Azureflame and Kudzu IMO.

I think there should be a way that non-GW1 players playing GW2 gain access to some of the rewards in the HoM. Not sure if there is a way to do this already, I don’t think there is.
i.e. Rangers getting access to HoM pets, some of the weapon skins.

Well, it’s not like the announced changes are game breaking or anything, it’s just faster projectile speed so i don’t know why anyone would doubt they’ll do it on this patch.
I would consider the two confirmed changes as substantial. Increasing movement speed to 25% with a signet and upping DPS of Longbow are definate improvements. I think there are probably going to be more than just these two changes. Keeping a wait and see attitude but like what has already been communicated.
I personally believe that there’s been a gag order put on JP not to communicate with this forum until the next patch or until the powers that be pull that order. Anything he says will probably get flamed unless it’s an ETA with specific fixes that we have all been waiting for. He’s can do no right in this forum right now so why make things worse. Don’t go in and make things worse if you can’t definately make things better. We will not be hearing from him until after the next major Ranger patch, if there is one.
If I were John, even if it was my job, why would I come into a forum where I get ripped daily? He can continue with the work on Ranger without the aggrevation of dealing with a community that has called you names and referred to you as a LIAR.
Now don’t get me wrong, I think the way they communicated could have been better but being human, why go engage in a place you’re disliked?
All he or “someone” had to do was come in here after the last patch and make a statement. The longer something like that takes, the quicker the constructive discussion goes down the tubes until people are left with a perminent bad taste in their mouthes.
Read through his thread, note the dates, and watch how it deteriorates. More importantly, note all the numerous threads which has contained tons of constructive feedback to help the devs.
Rangers are one of the classes that needs the most improvement. Something that he said himself. Yet we’re creeping up on a month with zero communication in the Ranger forums and 2 months of waiting for any decent fixes….Honestly, how long does it take to type a paragraph or two to keep your player base from giving up on the game? Unless you are typing with your feet, I’m going to say it shouldn’t take long at all.

Because it’s his JOB. When I use to work retail, I would have people in my face sometimes, I can’t just walk away and not help, it’s my job to answer their questions and to assist them.
If he had ponied up and apologized instead of giving a lame excuse then that would have been more acceptable…Look, I’m not looking for an argument because this horse has been beaten to death and we’re still kicking the carcass around, but I’ll ask you to do one thing, then come back here and answer me if you honestly feel like we where treated equally to all the other classes that you see him post in.

He seems to stay on top of the post a couple of times and ask’s for information or number’s so he can compare. Then you come accross a post that looks more like an excuse then anything else, click on it, it’s the ranger forum. go back, keep on searching through his posts and you’ll see more informative posts and posts where he is testing stuff for people. If you look at what he has posted here, it’s a joke. First he comes on here creating a new thread, not answering any of the existing threads which makes be think that he hasn’t bothered reading any of our threads. Then we all post positive stuff onto that thread of his because we’re all happy that we are getting some fixes. Then his second post is like ‘wow, this thread has really blown up’ or something to that idea, which simply reads, yea, I don’t read your forum and I’m surprised how many people have posted here. Then patch day comes and we get an excuse!
Read the mods, all other forums get warnings, please stay on topic. Ranger forum get’s closed with no warning or in some instances that I have seen, DELETED.
I have already come to acknowledge that I am GW2’s red headed stepchild, you should come to that realization as well.

After the Nerfing to my beloved Ranger, I have rolled a Thief and Guardian.
The Thief because I’ve always liked playing DPS and enjoy the mobility and a Guardian because I think it is last in the list to get hit by the ANET NERF bat. I would
have rolled a Warrior but based on ANET’s track record, they are next in line for some paddy-whacks.
Just curious as to what other Rangers are rolling. Please share.
