I wouldn’t want to lose 100b, it has great damage and there are multiple ways we can set it up. Leg specialist lets you get a few swings off with a cripple, shield stun with paralyzation rune into 100b, bulls rush with or without frenzy, bolas, mace stun, sword flurry, etc. I personally love giving my opponent multiple looks with the 100b when they are normally just waiting for the bulls charge frenzy combo.
Not only that, 100b is amazing if the other team is foolish enough to try to revive while you are around. Putting 100b as our burst would severely cripple the gs damage and combos we can pull of with our secondary set and I would probably never use the gs again. I do like the idea of a new burst skill for it though, or even changing the mechanics of 100b without losing too much damage. (cast time becomes 2s but 50% of the current damage, cast on the move with 20% less damage, etc)
I like the vulnerability idea, or even have it grant us stacks of might over fury, anything really would be an improvement.
They need to nerf backstab if anything, that build is a lot more deadly than pw, and will be the new fotm very soon. Mesmer nerf doesn’t even effect shantasm/shatter build which all the good mesmers run, this was basically a nerf to hotjoin players. Mesmers and thieves are still a huge problem in tpvp.
You guys have no idea what you’re talking about, warrior is one of the least sought after professions on a good team in tpvp. Luckily this game isn’t balanced around carebear pve where anything works, or else warriors would be in really bad shape. Warriors need a buff if anything, if you don’t have at least 100 tournament games played please don’t bother trying to argue balance.
You missed the entire point of my post then. If a player spams those skills without setup, keeping track of your dodges, stability, invulnerability skill usage etc, they will not kill you, unless you are bad. A player who uses those skills and sets them up, doing all of the above, is using skill to setup that attack. And if that attack 100-0s you, they are glass cannon, so if you counter it you can probably destroy them.
When I do run GS on my warrior I never just bulls rush 100b, I wittle them down with axe shield, make them blow their dodges/utilities etc and then 100b if the opportunity presents itself, if that isn’t “skill” then idk what is.
A mesmer complaining about warriors and rangers, now I’ve seen it all. Thief I can agree with but I do not think it’s overpowered, but 100b takes no skill? lol. Try playing 100b against a competent team, not in hotjoin, and tell me how many times you land it. It takes a lot of skill to play GS warrior, yes I said it, against good players of course. A skill that roots the warrior in place, frenzy causes them to take 50% more damage, and is countered by stability, invulnerability, or a dodge. if you die to it you got outplayed, hard.
Btw good GS warriors use more than just 100b but I don’t feel this thread deserves an in depth explanation of all that, more of a l2p issue, those players are pressing more than 1 button.
Had a long post ready for this thread but I think Daays covered everything I was going to say, 100% agree. We need to play to our strengths, and apply pressure through cc and high burst damage.
I either run a gs/axe shield build with 1500 toughness with leg specialist, which lets me setup a bull charge frenzy 100b with my gs cripple, or immobilize eviscerate, or shield stun eviscerate. If they pop stability for one, I have the other ready on weapon swap.
I also run a axe/mace mace/shield combo and If I am roaming with a thief or ele we can lockdown the other teams dps and blow them up in seconds. Both builds also have the high sustained damage of axe auto attacks.
Why build for tanky node control when guardians and necros do it better? Just my personal opinion and playstyle but it has worked well for me in tournaments so far. I do appreciate all the work you have done for warrior builds though, and am in no way discrediting you, just giving another viewpoint on warrior playstyle.

Axe is good, dual axe is not. 4 gives you fury which you wont need because of signet of rage, and 5 dmg is lackluster and only used as an adrenaline boost. Axe/mace however, is very powerful. You get extra stacks of vulnerability as well as a 2s knockdown, which you can pair with a stun from a shield in your offset to get off a full frenzy of auto attacks. But like geff said, if you’re talking strictly pve it doesnt really matter, although id imagine the mace vul and kd would still be more useful there as well. GS is amazing btw, and has a high skill cap despite what some think. A good warrior will find ways to land hb and make full use of gs utility, bad ones will wiff and get destroyed.
So op, you demolish those lvl 24 pve mobs!!!! Must be broken better nerf warrior.
I use the same weapon sets, but your armor runes arent the best choice and if i read correctly you use healing surge. So you have one condition removal every 25 seconds…goodluck with that.
Actually in tpvp greatsword is not that great, everyone has a form of stability and a gs warrior is easiest to counter. GS/rifle brings no form of cc for your team either. Most top warriors are running axe/mace now with either mace/shield or sword/shield which has more single target sustained dmg than gs as well as a lot more cc. But judging by your post im guessing you only play hotjoin, where anything works, so let me know when you get out of little league and learn the true potential of the class.
Thief is fine. Warrior needs a buff if anything, they either build gs burst which has multiple counters, or build hammer mace cc machine which is countered by group stability. Ele’s are above both classes imo when played properly.
Just so you know, warrior is outclassed in tpvp, is one of the worst 1v1 classes, and hardly uses “button mashing”. Against real competition, (pro tip: not in spvp) you will get cc’d, dodged, and if you do manage to land bull rush anyone with stability or invulnerability still counters it. It actually takes a lot of skill to land it against good players. Ive played as and against both classes and I have no problem countering them. Pretty sad how you say you’ve played every mmo over the past 20 years, you sound like a whining teenage girl. Good players adapt and learn counters, bad players come to the forums and cry, get better or go back to wow or league.
