I actually just let it run… and left my computer and did errands for about an hour, and when I came back, it was ready to play.

So, I just put GW2 on my new computer. My old one was able to run it with no problems at max settings. This computer, should it finish downloading…. will be able to run 4 clients of GW2 at max settings with no problem.

But… there is that dreaded 1 File Remaining for download that is preventing “Play” from being delightfully boisterous and red.

Anyone able to help me out?

I can’t wait for this map to be introduced in the tPvP rotation! The layout of that map will force MANY new builds to emerge in order to really compete.

I have to agree with this suggestion. There needs to be an outlet where teams can constantly play another teams, without costing them 5 tickets. We MIGHT run into another premade in a Free tournament. Those are fun matches. But if we don’t run into another premade…. well, we win Gold. There needs to be a system that allows people to practice against other premades, without the chance of running into Pugs.

I would have to agree. 5% is not a high enough rate to justify taking it over the other available traits. If it were 10%, then it might get a bit of use, as it would theoretically proc as easily as traited Quickness. As long as it had no CD, this would be a very welcomed buff. But if they were to buff it, that might make the AoE Thieves are capable of, kind of ridiculous (not that it’s not already lol)

30%-50% is far to high of a chance. Considering every other attack is a crit…

Okay… Just gonna GIVE you guys the solution to those who are confused to the change. Yes, 50% of one big hit is more damage than 5 15% hits on small numbers. But 15% on fairly large numbers makes those 4k’s become 5k’s or 6k’s.

Pop your Assassins Signet BEFORE you’re combo, rather than using it as an attack. You’ll accomplish the exact same thing, and actually will do better against other classes than pre-nerf. Earlier today, my steal hit for 5k, C&D for 5k, then a 10k back stab on a ranger (unsure of traits) in tPvP.

If you want to kitten off a Thief specced for Backstab and steal…. here is the way: Provided you SEE the thief coming (IE, point guard) judge the distance of steal (900 range) and when they get within that range, just dodge roll. Congratulations, you’ve survived through a BS Thiefs initial burst… with a games basic mechanic. Learn to time it. It pisses me off when people do it to me (I main thief).

Cause you know… a 900 range teleport is totally useless… especially one that is guaranteed to give you a utility skill.

Stealth isn’t broken. If you continue getting hit while in stealth, chain your stealth for longer stealth, or use your dodge-roll while stealthed to avoid any additional damage while stealthed.

Stormy, you are not supposed to detonate it. Let the Big Explosion hit. I have 3k Attack Damage, 30 crit (point in 20% below 50%), 10 in Power, Berserkers Amulet, and Runes of the Scholar. The damage does not change much at all with a Knight Amulet. Honestly, I find it is not a question of build, but of the skills damage itself. And those numbers are very rough estimates. Obviously certain classes that are specced for bunker builds are going to take less damage.

Rangers are one of the best people to steal from, because you get that tree. When I steal from rangers, I immediately use it and pull out my short bow. Spam cluster bomb on the tree for AoE heals. You can heal yourself for 8k and damage that ranger for around 12k with that tactic.

Okay guys, I’ve got 800 games on my thief at the moment, 550 of which are in tPvP. I’m posting that information because I would like the developers to take this post seriously. I know A-Net does not plan to make any changes to skill functionality in the near future, unless it’s currently game breaking, and encourages teams to find counters. This change will make little difference in low tier PvP, but the current High Tier teams (teams that consistently go 500-200 or better) understand how game breaking this skill is in its current state.

From what I can tell, people think Cluster Bomb is balanced, because of the travel time, and detonation. I’ve been using this skill for about 2 weeks now (it took a couple weeks to realize the potential of this skill). It’s quite possibly the most sustained damage AoE in the game. It hits targets for 3-5k (depending on target), it IS spammable, and the initiative cost is incredibly low for it’s potential damage output.
The reason Cluster bomb is so good, is because if you use it in MELEE range, the cast time is null. It’s a spammable 360 AoE high damage, bleed stacking attack. Not only that, it is ALSO a blast finisher. Bust that baby out when your buddy is putting down a Combo Field and you do an AWESOME AoE buff, or debuff.
If you are using this skill from range, then you are not using it properly. I propose a few changes to the skill, that I believe would balance it. It needs a nerf, but nothing major. But the skill, as it stands is just way to strong.
1. Make the AoE smaller
2. Lower the Large Explosion damage
3. Remove the initiative cost for the small explosion, and make the initial cost of Cluster Bomb 4 initiative.
4. a minimum flight time for the cluster bomb, ie: it has a minimum distance in which it can be cast, and can’t be cast at your feet, or within 200 range of yourself. I’m not sure how that would turn out, because of serious mechanics changes (no other skill is subject to that kind of limitation).
It only needs one of those changes to be a balanced skill.
As far as numbers go, off the top of my head based off Armor type:
Cloth: 4k+ . I’m not going to give a high side, because it varies to much. I will say that I have personally hit for 7k before. That is incredibly rare, and even 6k most likely won’t happen in a full tourny set.
Leather: 3k-5k . Rarely will you get higher than that.
Plate: 1.5k-3k. This isn’t that bad. But the fact that it’s spammable AoE really starts to make that high armor matter less…
Those are what I normally see. I almost exclusively play Thief in tPvP, so this is purely off that experience. As far as WvW is concerned, I can only imagine that bigger groups of people means more big numbers.
And to be clear: Thieves should have at least 50% crit chance.

While I was in the HotM, a GM came on and was answering questions in regards to PvP. Everything you mentioned was not only asked, but confirmed. Except the game types (no one asked that). But they currently have their priorities. Paid Tournaments are the next major thing they will be implementing. They’re working on the rewards system for that (probably ironing out the bugs that they had with the tPvP in the beginning).

I have full confidence in A-Net to deliver a successful, fun, competitive E-Sport. The game just released. Aside from CS:GO and SCII, I don’t know of a single game that became an E-Sport before 1 year after release.

Can we please have a Competitive/tPvP Subforum.
