Bonefield has a pretty good understanding here of why some mix and match is not easy at all. Some armor and clothing combinations are fundamentally not mixable, (for more than just clipping reasons)
I still do not see why you can’t keep the town clothes slots then just count those slots as a single “outfit”? They wouldn’t be mixing with anything else other than town clothes then so where would the problem be if you did this? Is the game really that badly designed where this is not possible?

A lot of people are misunderstanding what is happening. People who have earned their rank emotes and finishers will get to keep them as they are.
If I understand what people are saying, and I may be wrong, many people are treating ranks as more of a lifetime achievement. That is certainly something to consider in regards to the future reward system replacing them.
I don’t see how you couldn’t see ranks as a lifetime achievement. So to reach Dragon rank/finisher you need 8971500 total rank points. Let’s say you only play Team Queue and win every game you play that would mean you need approx 17943 games to reach dragon rank. Let’s say I’m a fairly active sPvPer and I play about 30 games a day that means I would need 598 days to get to get to dragon rank at 30 games a day every day(the game isn’t even that old yet).
That’s a lot of games and a lot of time there’s a reason why no one has dragon rank yet. I was hoping to get phoenix rank someday and I can only play 4-5 hot joins a night because soloQ always seems broken and it’s extremely hard for me (work/life schedule) to get a reliable team for team Q. It’s gonna take a long time to get to that rank and removing the ability to get the finisher/rank outright feels like you’re stealing something away from me(yes maybe a little much but that’s what it feels like). As soon as I heard about ranks/finishers not being earnable anymore really put me off sPvP because all I can think of is “Why bother I’m not gonna make it to my goal before they take it away anyways” then I just go afk in pve and do something else instead of playing gw2(already considering other games sadly). Changing the rewards system sure but removing the ability to gain the ranks/finishers please don’t do it. Not to mention a lot of people I know decided to start playing sPvP because the finishers actually meant something now that they are usable in pve and wvw.
As for the rank/glory farmers they should be punished. As I’ve heard it’s only doable in the skyhammer map, so then why is that map still in game if it’s not fixed? Anyways, I’ve made my point, change the way the ranks/finishers are earned but don’t remove them especially when no one has even reached the dragon rank yet.
Sincerely,
Disappointed player waiting to be proven wrong.

So as a ranger I have to stick to my long coats and forget of ever seeing my pants, because they are covered all the time by any chest piece I’m wearing. Great.
Also refunds wont make me happy. I don’t need gems. I wont be more happy after patch arrives because I’ll get 2000-3000 gems for my refunded tonics. I want to be able to mix and match them. Also my Dragon Shirt. That was a serial key. Who’s going re refund me that?
If they dont want to make town clothes as armor skins because they dont want to ruin class identity(all heavy/light/medium look the same with town clothes) then what about outfits? Every class looks the same in an outfit. Why can’t we look the same with our shirts and pants too?
If they are using “don’t want to ruin class identity” as a reason for the tonics then they shouldn’t have touched town clothes at all since everyone will be able to wear the mad king outfit, witch outfit, wintersday outfit(with no mix and match on any of them ofc) in combat as they have said. Which means they’ve already ruined class identity.

I want an answer directly from a dev as to why this bug was more important than ANY of the others listed here? Bug after bug and patch after patch all we seem to get are seemingly useless updates. There’s no point in having working tool tips when the skills hardly work in the first place right?(yes I know tool tips are most likely handles by a different department but it’s a wasted effort on broken skills) Please tell me as to why this bug was more important to fix then let’s say the iWarden bug that is literally game breaking(I haven’t used focus since that bug appeared since it is unreliable). I’m really wanting to try and understand your bug fixing logic and you saying “The iWarden bug is not that simple to fix” is not a valid reason, it is a game breaking bug where as iLeap was not a game breaking bug.

Maybe they invited one of those “Mesmer op! I was playing warrior and pressing 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 and then came mesmer and he had many clones and I did my best but he have to many clones so I died. Nerf mesmer!!!he is to op!!!” to dev team. It would explain alot…
Oh right anet needs to fix that incoming to revised patch nots:
Fixed a bug that caused a mesmer to have three clones this has been reduced to 1 clone per mesmer.
/sarcasm
Seriously anet this is one of the worse decisions you’ve made to this game so far it really makes me question if you actually care for any of your player base at all. You should’ve first fixed a bug that is blatantly breaking for mesmer(ie warden not working properly) instead of fixing a supposed bug that will nerf mesmer. Maybe this bug fix wouldn’t be so bad if you actually fixed the iLeap in the first place so it would actually reach its target 99% of the time.

^ Now that suggestion I could get behind.
I doubt it will go ahead since it would mean less $$$ for ANet, but it would be nice.
I don’t see how it would be less $$$ for Anet I mean I would be more inclined to buy more town clothes if they had mix and match. As the way they are proposing how town clothes work in their patch they might as well just kill off town clothes make all current ones tonics and never make any others, then only release armor available for all classes in the future if they really cared about money(trans uses).
…How is it that something can just tear away all happiness I had.
The traits already were way too unpleasant but I though, at least I’ll have my fluff.
Nope.According to the faq on the support site I won’t get a refund for my halloween (all four) and wintersday costumes. I also doubt about my town clothes items since I gifted these to mysef during the december gifting sale.
This has just been the worst. Worst feeling ever.
I basically feel the same.

Either Anet has to get these one time events running nearly perfectly or at least(actually even better) have them run for 24hours to cover all time zones and so that everyone can have an equal go at it. I do not like the fact that some people were able to do this one time event 2-8 times or more while others(either due to lag or another time zone) had no chance or just simply had bad luck trying to get the chest at the end.
So main changes I would like to see in the future for these types of events:
-Have them run 24hrs to cover all time zones and give all players better chances to attend the event(I’m est so don’t say I’m biased)
-Work on the culling and make enemies first priority
-Have diminishing rewards for accounts that have already opened the chest so that people can not farm the event with alt characters to make prizes more fair(people will argue against this but oh well)
-Lastly optimization of the servers to handle such an event, many people were suffering lag while not even attending the main event
Just my suggestions.

yea it’s getting pretty annoying even limiting characters doesn’t help and I still crash. This never happened before the mega servers even on very populated servers.

From latest patch notes:
Illusionary Leap: Fixed a bug that allowed players to swap places with their clone after it was destroyed.
Wait this was a bug? really? Now not only does it not work half the time now I can’t even swap to it just after it dies… great thanks anet.

So basically the new quaggan backpack skin is out on the gem store and what I’m wondering is if I use the skin on my Book of Secrets ascended gear will I still be able to upgrade my backpack to the infused version later? or will I be stuck with the non infused version?

I found it as a feature, really, was kind of neat mesmer “confusing” thingy, but no more. (spawn clone, enemy kills it while he runs for you, and swap when he is about to hit..)
Atleast warden got fixed… (Oh wait, it didn’t)
I know how you and every other avid mesmer feels even some people I know who despise mesmer said that this kinda sucks for the class. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if clones didn’t die instantly to like 2 aoe.

Hmm so this non-game breaking bug took them since the launch of gw2 to fix? I don’t buy it being easy to fix if it takes them that long to fix it.
I was just making a joke there by the way :P
Yea I know I just felt like pointing out the obvious since people miss it.

Ok this may not bother a lot of people but it bothers me. Since release we’ve seen 18 new colors for hair and 15 new colors for eyes but not a single one for hair accessories. Why haven’t we gotten any more colors for accessories? It’s a shame that in a game that is mostly visuals for end game we lack the so much of the color pallet available for armors on the character. May I suggest next time you release new colors you also release colors that match existing hair and eye colors for accessories as well.

Well looks like threads opposing this change are starting to disappear. To all the mesmers out there it was fun it really was sadly this might be the final nail in the coffin for the class unless Anet can quickly shrink that bug list for mesmers in half.

That’s it, non-game breaking bugs are easier to fix than real game breaking bugs… :S stares back at a Illusionary Warden staring at him :P

Well I see there’s still no official response with a clear cut answer as to why they are doing this. I also don’t see why they can’t have the individual items as an outfit instead of a tonic I mean you’re going to be giving them default bottoms/tops in tonic form anyways why not just make them an outfit instead of a tonic? Also why can’t you keep town clothes slots and just have them count as an “outfit” when we want to wear them? I really hope you reconsider what you are doing to town clothes Anet especially since you stated that your current(old) system is too destructive then you go and do this to town clothes for your new system it makes it feel like you’re taking a step forward but also taking a step back. Please give us some answers soon.
