I remember back when I played Guild Wars 1. I actually enjoyed it, despite it being something different, considering I hadn’t played an MMO like Guild Wars prior to being recommended it by a friend.
I met friends, enemies, guilds and alliances. The updates were good and it genuinely had me hooked for a solid 4-5 years, before Guild Wars 2 released.
Whoever is in charge now doesn’t have a clue. Bring back the developers who made Guild Wars 1 what it was. Bring back the permanent content, new zones and better yet, bring us an expansion.
My current feeling towards Guild Wars 2 is summed up by a few steps. 1) Log in 2) Talk to Guild, Do a Dungeon if I feel up to it 3) Log out. That’s not right. You should be hooking me ArenaNet, but you’re not. Sorely dissapointed.
Not going to lose any sleep over it, anyway. I’ll probably just end up buying the legacy armor(s) via the Gem Store anyway, what with the Wardrobe feature coming up.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Hi there,
Back in August 2013 I purchased the Guild Wars 2 Digital Edition, which just included the base game. I was, and still am happy with the current state of the game, however I was considering purchasing the Digital Deluxe version of the game for its added features.
This is where I saw that the Digital Edition has been removed and replaced with the Digital Heroic edition, which includes a set of legacy armor, a mithril box and 10 experience boosters.
Considering I bought the game, for the same price and have supported the game over my months of playing it via purchasing gems, is it possible to receive compensation or am I just out of luck?
Dragon Champion.
Because I said so.
I may as well be copy pasting this from my own thread, but run Guild Wars 2 and type in /ip. Copy that IP Address over to Command Prompt and run “tracert [Insert IP Address Here]”. Run that a few times, it could be that you’re timing out based on location (?).
Only other thing I can think of is Firewalls, both on the Router and the Windows Firewall. Disable those, or open ports that Guild Wars 2 requires, and try again as well.
It wasn’t the maintenance. I was playing prior to the maintenance starting, and it was probably worse off before it started than it was while it was ongoing.
More recent trace routes have shown that the packets are struggling to leave New Zealand servers. Its not my end specifically, but more so my ISP at this time.
Thanks for the help, anyway.
Right, well I did what you said. Typed in /ip, did a tracert via command prompt. It timed out like you said and my pings were how they were on my previous computer, low 200s.
However I don’t feel like that is a valid ping, which accurately shows how the game should act under those circumstances. The 2000ms pings seem to be more likely to be causing that.
I’m using a wireless connection, but plan to try using a wired connection to see if there are any differences.
A bit of background before I delve into the details, I recently upgraded my computer, made sure all my driver’s were up to date then installed Guild Wars 2. It ran perfectly for the first week, but now I’m getting extremely high latency spikes, something which never happened on my previous computer.

I live down in New Zealand, so I can understand 200-300ms, but almost 2000?
Anyway, its making Guild Wars 2 unplayable, though I do get the occasional latency spike on other games I play as well. Am I looking at a bad driver update or is it something else I’ve missed?
What kind of issue are you specifically having that could be related to lag?
Skill Lag up to the point where I can’t even use Skill 1.
What server are you on?
Blackgate
Has there ever been a time when you or a friend are experiencing lag, while others in your party are not?
No. Everyone gets it. I don’t even have to be near a fight for it to start.
Has there ever been a time where one party in a map is experiencing lag, while other parties in that same map are not?
No (same as above).
Do you experience the lag at very specific times?
Whenever I play World vs World.
Side note: There is no issue with typing. In past experiences, typing would lag too, but that’s not the case this time. Chat is fully functional. Combat is not.
Use a Crafting Booster and Discover 3-4 Exotic Greatswords.

I’ll take a guess with Meteorlogicus and/or Eternity.
Blackgate just got taken out. Again.
What is with the ever increasing number of players wanting mounts? Its pathetic. They have no place in Guild Wars 2. There are Waypoints. Use them.
I’ve gotten a few dragonite drops (19-22) from Towers and Keeps in Edge of the Mists. The Empyreal Fragments are far more common though.
For example, I got 100 Empyreal Fragments but only 41 Dragonite in that time.
Its the Legendary Imbued Shaman from Fractals of the Mists.

EDIT: You can get a Fractal tonic to transform you into a few of the fractal bosses.
I too have a Logitech G930 and I occasionally get that loud noise too. Not sure if its the headset or something within the game.
Their servers were likely attacked.. again.
same at Maw , exquisite timing as we neared completion.
A lot of very unhappy n disgusted players.
Not appreciated Anet.
“Not appreciated Anet.”
You act as though its ArenaNets fault that they got DDoS’d.
Blame the source, not the victim.
My two Charr names are just “A Charr Name” and “Another Charr Name”.
Yep.
Griffonhook Run if you want to open the chest is the hardest. The annoying griffons will hit you even if you already left them far behind.
Guardian → Spam Aegis. I did Griffonrook Run in about 5 mins.
(Failed first run because I didn’t realise the chest was on a rock and kept looping around to that exact spot.)
All Gold League servers (Not hating on Silver or Bronze – Only because I have not been in Bronze and I’ve only been in Silver for a few weeks) get my vote.
Despite the ongoing war going on in the match-up forum, each server has tried extremely hard to make it to the top. Blackgate (my server) came out on top but kudos to everyone else that was there!
As for PvE.. IoJ – without a doubt. No matter the party, each time I’ve been in a group with 1 or more IoJ players, they’ve been quite friendly.
It was originally an Eye of the North (Guild Wars 1) soundtrack but I forgot the name of it. None the less; its Track 88.
EDIT: The actual track name is called “A Storm Is Coming”.

You know about the LFG Tool, right? Right?
Related question that I don’t want to bother creating a new thread for: Where’s the supposed Vigil and Order of Whispers presence inside the tower?
Can’t say I’ve seen any Vigil/Order of Whispers agents that were actually alive in the tower. They all seem to have died trying to setup air purifiers in Level 3.
Do you get to fight these bosses even if you’re not of the right order or have not completed the Personal Story yet?
If you’ve got someone else in your party, from the Vigil as an example, then “Forgal” (No Warmaster, let alone his last name) will show up and say what he said during The Battle of Claw Island all over again. Not sure how it works if there are multiple people from different orders in your party though.
Despite my high latency I’ve never lagged to a noticeable extent, and I’ve seen others with the same problem.
My latency/ping/ms/whatever you want to call it is usually stable at 220. Sucks to be in New Zealand but there is nothing I can do about it if lag really is the case.
So over the past few days I’ve been attempting to complete the Clocktower jumping puzzle..
However, almost every time I attempt it I get sent straight back to the starting area.
I do get the occasional proper run of the clocktower (yet to beat it) but the auto fails greatly outnumber the proper runs in this case.
Is this a known bug or am I experiencing something new?
