On a sidenote: ALL the colleges make Golems, like the gates, they are not bound to a specific college. Dynamics has, however, the most enthusiastic Golem-modders.
That stands somewhere, most probably in the wiki, i just can’t find it yet.
I’m Dynamics myself, btw. Go Dynamics! We’re doers, not talkers. While the others still are babbling, we already started to rock out.
I’m an absolute Asura fanboy and can only approve of this!
It makes sense and what i know about asura lore is in there as well.
The lore as whole can only profit from this, if this finds the Writers and Devs acceptance.
We have the knowledge, we can rebuild him!
Well, to be right, she buyed the bodyframe, but she still developed Mr. Sparkles by herself.
That is said by the same NPC in the lions arch actionhouse.
I think it was like buying an old car and tuning it to something modern and cool.
I actually play asura, because i started an engineer!
Or the other way around, i dont know anymore. I wanted to be “golemancer”, so i took val-a golem storyline and dynamics. And i wanted to use the golem elite, therefore i needed a class which elites i consider “useles”. At first glance that was the engineer. The potion X is useles, as you cant use your own skills anymore. The mortar is useles, cause it has very bad range for a mortar.
I now know the “package-reinforcement” that drops from the sky isn’t as much useles as i thought, but i still don’t use it besides PvP.
The 7-Golem is my choice to go, for nice damage if he gets to barrage it on the right foe. mostly bosses.
I used turrets only in the beginning, but naturally got to use elixiers cause of their very, very useful cond.-cleansing trait.
Heck, i don’t even use kits!
I run around with p/s condition build and elixiers, beside me running a mini-golem and sometimes his bigger brother to help me out.
I use T3 asura cultural pistol and shield. I look very asuran, i have golems and i (totaly natural, by elixir-cond. build choice) don’t use any “steampunk”-tech.
I feel like a very asuran Golemancer/Alchemist-Engineer. ^^
One of us.
One of us.
One of us.
One of us.
One of us.
Im using asura T3 pistol skin (peacemaker i think). I have no pic, but i think its as big as glyphic, if not bigger.
Its asuran too and it has a purple particle effect.
corrupted looks pretty big too.
Well, sounds interesting, im already in a guild but i would take a look in the peacmaker network if you invite me.
Im playing on millersound though.
As long as there is no canon proof of a romantic relationship (and i doubt there will be more than the book destinys edge), this will always be up to speculation and the readers own opinion.
Well, till maybe a developer or a designer or writer states something in this direction.
(much like J K Rowling said dumbledore was gay, what was not stated directly in the books. It was hinted, but not stated, much like Snaff/zojja)
Explorer achievement (of maguuma, etc.) doesnt count your hearts or POIs, it counts the map parts unrevealed.
You know the “washed out” parts of the map, when you come into a new zone? You move into it and a bit gets revealed, you can now see on the map whats in there.
When you have Maguuma Explorer 166/166, then you have revealed all parts of all maguuma maps.
Yeah, that invisible bag is one simple solution. I get more effed by the fact that i have to re-activate my mini after every map change/travel …
Great Thread, Guilds seriously need an rework.
I am no leader, i am one of two “second in Command”s of our guild and that is the Problem.
The single leader (the founder) is absent since 1-2 Months, we have no way to contact him. We have almost full power, but we cannot edit the two highest ranks (leader and ours), including name, eblem and possibilitys.
Please add a way to de-nominate an absent leader and nominate another player of the guild to new leader
I was told in GW1 after 1 or 2 months of absence an leader would be lowered in rank and another player of the guild would be new leader. Automatically.
That would be enough to solve our problem.
How can A-net DARE to say “Thanks for your patience!”
We are out of patience!
Asura = best.
There are so many little things that come together to make Asura so great.
The animations, the things they say, the initial story-line, their attitude… just.. everything. They are the best race out of all of them.
I can just agree.
I started as Sylvari, tryed charr afterwards. Didn’t feel THIS IS IT. Then i tryed Asura, just because of the lore i read in the wiki. Their sarcasm, their personalitys, i thought “that is like me! i could immerse myself in it”.
The Beginning was “meh” and Rata Sum was “Oh god” but then all pieces fell together. Their voices are perfect. Their animations are perfect. The personal story and the whole humor is golden! That sold it for me.
Your Golem was altered to be an killer-machine.
“Aha.”
And it no more serves sweet vine, just warm beer.
“What?! NO!”
Classic.
Of course they are kicking someone who is on the ground, charr lore says they not only live for war, to win they use every possible option. There fore they use such things like spies, assassinations, all the “shadow arts” for which they have the ash-legion and which a more “honourful” nation would refuse to use.
They are pragmatic, they love fighting, but they have no problem backstabbing either when it benefits them.
But at least they made Peace with Humanity.
Looks like the Medic tent for the wounded refugees south of the Thaumanova Reactor in Metrica.
I think this are 2 of maybe 8-10 radiated/wounded asura that lay there.
I would support it.
I don’t expect to end as virtual groom myself, but i would find such an event entertaining enough to actual leave my current area when a marriage gets announced to go watch it.
On another point, the “same sex marriage”. You don’t need to worry about homosexual love, it is already here. You heard of the sylvari? You probably heard the sylvari are open minded and don’t know real traditional gender differences (beside visual). Homosexuals are common to them.
-You all know Caithe and Faolain. But they are not the only example.
-You probably know Tegwen and Carys. Carys calls tegwen her partner, that is always the term sylvari use when they refer to their relationship mate.
-You see Eladus and Dagdar, if you choose the “Green Knight” starting story for sylvaris. They openly call another “Lovers”.
To a lesser extent, you can believe there are homosexuals in other races, just like in our RL society.
Maybe it’s not the first game, but surely one of the first games to openly show homosexual Relationships.
I like the Mini Pets, if you have no group and you’re a ranger you’re still not alone.
As an Asura Engi i’m very fond of my two little Golems, i always have them in my invisible bag and one of them is running behind me. I like it.
What really, really annoys me is: I have to activate them again and again, as i change areas. If you teleport or travel to another area, they’re always deactivated. Sure, you can activate them again, but as said, to activate them again and again gets annoying.
Hunter pets stay by your side when you travel, why can’t Mini pats stay?
They don’t fight, they are just for visuals, but that is fine. They just should be permanent till you deactivate them manually.
It is a minor suggestion, but a suggestion nontheles, and it would make some players happy.

The earlyest human numeral system isn’t base 10 (decimal), it’s base 60 used by early mesopotamians (3400 bc).
Mayans (and other meso-american) used base 20 (vigesimal), or to better say base 4 + base 5 (or something like that… Also read they didn’t have signs for every number, like the romans).
Who says the asuran doesn’t evolved with a base 10 system, like the others? Just out of chance. ^^
I know this is an old thread, but i stumbled upon it and i find this article interesting.
I always imagined the “houses” or places where the people live are there somewhere, you just don’t see them (on the first look), cause they’re not important for the game anyway. Go to the black citadel, you will see smiths, shops, taverns… where do the charr live? Well, in some buildings, they’re just not obvious. ;P
In the lower level of rata sum, i saw this “hall monitor” too. He said somethign about an experiment gone wrong in the showers, now all the aprrentices are glowing in the dark… Well, that doesn’t say something about houses, but it shows there is more we just dont see. As said, the explorable part of rata sum is just “the tip of the iceberg”, the lower levels just aren’t accessible.
Sure, there is this giant chasm beneath rata sum where they most probably came on the surface, but there is still plenty of room around it in this giant cube. What is in there, just bricks? I bet there are underground apartment-complexes.
Every starting area has this “second city zone”, with crafting stations. In Caledon it is the mabon market, in metrica it is Desider Atum. You can call them villages if you want. Desider atum is an plateau, you go up some stairs and on top are the traders and craft stations. But was is actually “in” the plateau? I bet there are apartments.
You get the drill.
The starting point in metrica is an complex called Soren Dra. I always see it as suburbia of Rata Sum. It is an giant complex, but not necessarily all labs. I got into an little room on the right and found a funny situation (one among lots of funny NPC situations in metrica):
Father, daughter and her boyfriend. He comes to take her to a date.
Father: “Have fun”
Daughter: “Oh, how nice of you!”
Father: “hehe, don’t thank me yet!” and he sends an golem after them, as chaperone
I don’t remember the interior of the room, but if it’s an actual living room or not, it shows something:
Like the Devs said (http://www.arena.net/blog/angel-mccoy-on-writing-asura), Asura are (beside their personality) just like Humans, they have relationships, sex, children and families. They have homes where their families live, children go to schools (remember the school-building in metrica? the “mother-jokes”? ) and don’t live in labs! It’s just the adult population which works there.
Bear in mind that this is an game, your main work as hero is frolicking through the terrain and kill bad beasts! Not watch the plebs live their boring lives in their homes.
These people have their homes somewhere they are just not obvious or accessibe, cause they’re not important for the gameplay. We, the heroes have better to do and so have the Devs.
In Hoelbrak and Divinitys Reach you see the homes of people, in the Grove, the black Citadel or Rata Sum they are just not as obvious. But you can bet they are somewhere.
Rata sum is one big building-complex, so the best bet would be apartment-complexes. Same for the suburbias Soren Dra or the smaller Desider Atum. Shouldn’t be a problem for asura, they evolved from underground!
I may be right on some points and wrong on other, but i think i made some good points. ^^ It’s still just a game! There’s not enough place and worktime for everything in there. Just use your imagination!
:)
I like the word. Underground-Apartments…
