Finally got the time to do this after exams, took me nearly 2 hours to get it down but after the first success my 7 other characters were easy The same doesn’t apply to charr, but now I can say I did the puzzle 8 times repeatedly with all races. Amazing sense of satisfaction and ok rewards, hope there will be more in the future like this.
Rangers have been complaining about this since beta, the only work around this is to disable auto-cast this way you wont be locked but then you will have to spam that first skill.
My idea would be for your pet to leap to the target and not the player him self, this way you would not be locked and it would be like a combo move between the ranger and his pet, but then it might screw with the pet attack animations and might conflict with ranged pets.
I agree, the ranger is the “jack-of-all-trades, master of none” even if you focus on one particular role.
- Warrior banners are better then our spirits.
- Thief traps are better then our traps.
- Our pet barely hits players due to them having to stop every time they attack, which means Rangers lack in overall damage since the pet is part of the equation.
The only reason to play a Ranger is if you like the profession, if you are serious about team pvp then you might as well play a thief or a warrior as both can outperform us in every single aspect.
Like the title says, many times after the stealth supposedly ended you are still not visible to other players for another 2 seconds, I have seen thing happen both as a thief(even though you seem visible to your self) and versus thieves.
Some times when playing versus a Thief it is possible to see a “woosh” animation of him appearing but the character and the nameplate do not appear immediately giving him time to still get a couple of hits while invisible.
In fact this is easily exploited by dual dagger thieves since if you time it correctly you can use your “cloak and dagger”(5th skill) to stealth again giving you near permanent invisibility.
PS: I used the Thief as an example as it is easier to see and test it with this profession but I believe this happens with the stealth effect in general regardless of what profession is using it.
The whole point of this is to help the players judge the difficulty level of the NPC and has been used in any other MMO, these thougher NPC are commonly know as Elite mobs even though some like to change it a bit.
My point is that as it stand this is not reliable as I have seen NPCs with as much HP as a veteran being shown as a normal NPC and so on.
This happens a lot in Personal story quest where some “boss” is labeled as a normal NPC, but I have seen this happen in other places as well.
Considering that at lvl 80 you pay about 5+ silver just for a single broken item and traveling from one point of the world to the other is about 3-4 silver, I would rather have higher travel cost than higher repair cost or any other example you gave.
Plus you can reduce the travel cost if it means that much to you, just teleport to the nearest major city use the gate there to travel to Lions Arch and then use the LA gates to travel to the nearest major city to your dungeon.

Manual are not meant to respec, they just give you access to the traits, the fact that they also reset your traits is a bonus, to respec you should talk to the npc and ask him to retrain which is considerably cheaper than a book.
You can also do this in the WvW assuming its not full, log-out and back in and you should be in the same spot you where before.
I think the key-word here is complaining versus voicing and opinion. You have the right to say what think of the game which would be you voicing your opinion, however if you start to compare the game to illusionary expectation then you are complaining.
I understand that you didn’t want to see any spoilers about the game but that doesn’t stop you from reading the basic game features, so I have to side with the others even though many of them are too harsh.
I do not think a person has the right to complain about imaginary expectation they placed in a game just because they never bothered to look it up, the information is not hidden and anyone would get a feel for it just by watching/reading a review or an interview.
A simple analogy would be buying red colored car from ebay and automatically assuming it was white colored because he did not look at the picture or read its specs, then complaining because it wasn’t white.
The fact is that in life anything you buy without knowledge is a risk, whether you take that risk or not its your personal choice.
If it was something of a high monetary value like a house or a car people would scrutinize every detail of it before committing to it because they had a lot to lose, but since its just a game they do not care much enough to research it but in the end they complain nonetheless.
I noticed this too, specially in the Charr where he scream every time I jump two times in a row.
NPCs are divided into normal, veteran and champion difficulties but overall they seem too random, I have seen some normal mobs that are harder than veterans and veterans that are as easy as a normal NPC and champions that look like veterans.
As it stands this is a bad way to judge the NPC difficulty from a player stand point since we need to actually engage the NPC to be 100% sure, therefore it needs some revision to sort the NPCs correctly.
A few things I would like to see regarding WvWvW queues:
- show us the how far are we to entering a map by telling what is our position in the queue.
- Let us queue to more than one map, if we accept to enter one map then we should be removed from all map queues.
- Add a auditory alert when we can travel to the map, many players like to be doing something else while they wait, like watching some TV or browsing the web.
Mac users do not have a choice regarding their OS all they can do is have Windows emulated, Linux users however chose to use Linux and they can very well have a windows partition and be done with it.
So with that in mind I do not see why would a company waste resources in to making a client for a minority of players who deliberately chose to use a different OS.
I don’t know how they expect to make any money from this because it’s way too easy to get them with gold.
In the beginning I was wondering about getting the extra char slots(800 gems for 10$ or 10€ each), but now I got all 3 extra slots in a few days.
I was expecting the price to be at least 5 times higher, but 25-30 silver per 100 gems you can get 800 gems for a couple of gold, so as much as I want to see GW2 succeed I foresee that no one will ever want to waste real money on that shop.
Also the Gems-to-gold conversion is even worst which unfortunately makes gold sellers more viable way to get gold than with gems through Anet.
Actually it doesnt. You played Eve or heard of the PLEX system? That game has probably the single most successful economy.
If no-one buys any gems with real money, their ingame gold value increases.
Suddenly buying gems with real cash becomes REALLY awesome because you can make heaps of gold doing that.
If things swing the other way (like they are now) then buying with ingame cash is awesome because you can get gems for low cost. And it kitten the gold sellers because A) you can get cash ingame and support the company
buying gold ingame actually INCREASES the cost per gem, meaning you have to buy more and more gold from scammers to get gems, and somewhere someone else just spend half the cash you did, bought a couple gems and sold them to you for tons of ingame cash.
Moreover why would you go through an unsecure website that is liable to steal you account and kitten you totally when you can do it securely and support ANet.
Seriously this is probably the best system in any MMO.
Thank you Eve and thank you ANet!
ROCK ON!
Yes I have played EVE, but that market is different because the value for the Plex was set by the players just like in a auction-house, in GW2 you have no control over it and has it is now even the highest value in the last 5 days is ridiculously cheap.
Like I said I was thinking about spending 30$ for 3 extra char slots but I got them for about 6g, that’s just one person multiply that across the world and see how much money they could have won but didn’t just because their starting values were not the best.
The system is great just like you said but the values have to be at least 2-3 times higher otherwise it won’t stop gold sellers.
There will more than likely be an item in the gem shop to change character and/or guild names at some point, most MMOs have this I dont see why not.
Your off-hand weapon damage only affect your 4th and 5th skills, if you only use one 1-handed weapon you will only have 3 weapon skills.
You can craft, buy from the “auction-house” or just get weapons from karma vendors(every time you complete a heart quest the npc becomes a karma vendor).
My guess is that you are one of those players that stand still casting their skills, if this is true then having a better weapon wont help you, try kitting and dodging their attacks while you are fighting which is the way the game is meant to be played.
Add some kind of realm point system.
Utterly pointless atm.
There is a point system, which is what the WvW match-making system uses to choose your server invaders, however at this moment what we are seeing is just the trial stages to set the initial numbers before the regular 2-weeks WvW cycle starts.
Like you said its pretty bad when the server is full have there are 30 people near the portals chatting or just being afk while they “eat dinner” without contributing to the war-effort.
A Necro can outlast pretty much any other profession in the game, using conditions versus a necro is suicide since then can easily cancel them, turn then into boons or just turn then back on you.
Minion-Master build is the weakest and most useless form of necro there is in PvP since it does little damage and doesn’t help your team in any way.
I dislike how Rally works because you can rally from someone pretty far a way providing you hit him a few times before, but the down-state if fine.
If you get 2 players down, you got the advantage since they have limited skills and you don’t, just try to survive a few more seconds(dodge, survival skills, hide behind a wall…) until your heal comes back up then stomp them both, plus if they are hitting you they aren’t healing them selves so it will be easy to outlast them even if you go down later.
the down-state adds strategy to PvP, sure press F takes no skills but that’s not the only way to do it, you can also just hit him every 5 seconds or so to cancel his bandage and let him die, the addition of this choice makes a good player think about what is the best approach on each situation.
I thought about this too but I was waiting for the forums to be fully implemented before doing any suggestions.
I think people are not understanding that he is talking about Conquest which is the sPvP not the WvW.
Spreading is more viable than just zerging around, mainly because a zerg can only hit 1 location at the time while the other team can delay the zerg with 1-2 guys and have the rest constantly capping the other 2 points.
Remember that sPvP tournaments are 5v5 while the normal sPvP is 8v8.
Level scaling makes content viable for all levels, why would a company waste time making low level content if players never do it again once they level up, plus you still get a significant boost though traits and higher level gear.

Since dungeon rewards are meaningless apart from the looks they better be hard, because if they aren’t challenging what would be the point of doing them at all.
This is a game and as such it’s meant to be fun and for me beating a tough challenge that requires player skill and organization is much more fun that beating a game that only needs the right amount of stats and a bit of common sense.
This is to be expected, the balance is done for small groups so it makes sense that when you get a large amount of players hitting the same target they would lose effectiveness, which is why there are no raid in the game.
Bosses usually have multiple target points(head, and arms), be sure to spread all condition across all of them and not just focus one the head like most people do.
They said they will add it eventually, but its not their main priority right now.
Right now the only way to do it if to join an empty game and do it.
