It most probably is a ping or latency issue. I’ve hardly gotten these overshots too, but when I do it’s always when I’m starting to lag. Another thing I found is that if someone immobilized me the same time I used Magnetic Grasp, I would 100% overshoot after the immobilize ended. Other than that, only overshoot when I’m lagging..

I agree, this idea seems very good, other than like the extra time needed for one full tournament to finish. But other than that, this idea seems excellent, maybe the rewards seem way too high for Arena’s standards, but I like the idea as a whole. I also completely agree with Sataar’s post about people being happy about ladder for a small amount of time before they leave again. Hopefully they improve the tournament system so everyone will feel it beneficial to keep playing tournaments. I also hope that paids would one day be popping all day round! Kudos to you Sataar for the idea!. +1

I’ve had many occassions where I’ve been leading the target as they strafe around me and both skills miss due to how dispersed and slow to track the skills are.

I believe that it is caused by this: If you press the right mouse button and turn the character, you actually just turn the camera, not the whole character. The character responses to this turning only when you are moving it (running forwards, backpedaling etc.), which is somewhat wrong, because left button should turn camera-only, right button should turn the character even if not moving (as it is usually in 3rd person MMOs) imho.

Wow, I think you nailed it man. Come to think of it, that is practically the most sound explanation. Now time to plan to get these Fire Grabs to hit…

The Lightning Grab is indeed bugged, about the stationary objects. One such easy example are doors in PvP at Legacy of Foefire. You practically can’t hit them even if your at PB range with L.Whip. For Fire Grab, I notice I get to hit people more often with it when I practically ‘hug’ the target. Any other thoughts on Fire Grab?

Funny how I can hit dredge turrets though, maybe I was just lucky when I tried it

For Fire Grab I think Rhoto is correct, as I can somewhat confirm it, Fire Grab always aims at the direction you are facing when you start casting it and hits there, even if both you and your target move away… either make the character immovable while casting (we don’t want this though) or give FG a wider arc of attack, in both cases at least you will be 100% sure that you will hit or miss.

Hmm, I like this idea very much, =D. I hope for an increased arc for FG, no use having such a hard hitting skill never even reaching it’s target even if you aimed correctly :/.

I’d also like to add Drake’s Breath and Cone of Cold to this list. Both skills are too dispersed and the ticks are too slow. If you compare this to Cleansing Flame on a Guardian their skill is extremely responsive and focused, those of you who have played both classes will know what I mean.

Yeah I agree on this too. The skills feel rather slow and sometimes just useless if it misses halfway due to the damage having to start over, instead of building up.

Lol, totally understand how you guys feel. HS is really efficient as a gap closer, and sometimes when I press HS once, my char ends up doing it twice (I think I pressed it once..) and if my enemy’s at lower than 50% of health, they usually are, if I press 2, then HS will hit pretty hard. Then all the QQ will start, lol! Though I would admit, I always found it extremely amusing to hear dead people telling me that I’m bad for using HS like twice in a row… I mean if they were standing, it wouldn’t be as funny…

Yeap, the client repair only solves a selected amount of players. I’ve also noticed that I have to play after the repair is done, using the ‘same client’. If I restart my client, I’ll experience a rare loading screen bug too. Semprenaviguare, I think it’s enough of you claiming that the bug only happens when thieves damage/stomp you? Perhaps maybe for your case only. Lets just hope that the fix will come soon, so that it’ll solve this whole mess and let everyone go back to PvPing! At Tapsteve, this loading screen bug does not affect everyone, as I know of friends who do not experience it at all while PvP’ing. The number it affects still looks to be quite a number though. Oh wells, lets just hope for the fix to arrive soon!

LOL, I play as a thief. Never recalled bugging people… But whatever you say man! The repair doesn’t work for everyone unfortunately.. I have no idea why.. repair works flawlessly for me.. oh wells. Just wait for Anet to fix it then.

Kiria, the mailing system is rather ‘delicate’ atm. To receive mail, you must make sure your inbox is clear. Sometimes people cannot receive mail even when their mailbox is 8/10 or 5/10. Simply delete all the mail that you have already received and the mail that you have yet to receive will appear. Cheers!

There is no solution.. other than repairing the client which only works for a handful of people.. (including me, yay!). Wonder when Anet will properly address this issue though..

…The loading screen bug can happen when you die to any class. It’s completely random… Are everyone that hateful to thieves honestly? That even a loading screen bug is on the class.. Try repairing your client, for some it worked and solved the loading bug issue, others not as fortunate. Worth a try though!

Well, I think everyone should repair their client first, and see if the loading bug in PvP still persists. I’m not talking about other bugs and disconnects, only the loading bug in PvP. This is because not everyone encounters the problem, so it’s worth a try for people to repair their client and still see if the problem persists. And at your post, Armageddon, they have not changed the render issue, so at large amount of groups, there is nothing that can be done at our side.. Sad, but true.

Yes, repairing your client completely solves this issue. Just do it, you have nothing at all to lose other than like a good 20 minutes.. which you can spend doing on other things.

Guys it certainly is frustrating and very harming to PvP. I certainly feel that sPvP/tPvP is unplayable as of now.. But we also have to know that the earliest fix we can get is on Monday NA time… since thanksgiving came at the wrong time too :/.

Okay guys, as a very avid thief player, especially in sPvP and tPvP, I’ve already told you the problems with thief, albeit with a long wall… sorry for that. Anyway, to keep it short, this is it. Thieves are easy to handle, easy to kill people due to a high burst. On the contrary, thieves are also predictable. Other than those condition/caltrops players, which I believe no one is crying at, the other builds of thieves are quite predictable. Especially the backstab build. Thieves are ‘too strong’ to newer players in sPvP and thus many people feel that thieves are OP. But this is also because in sPvP most people enter 16 player rooms! 8v8 on a small map makes the whole place ‘crowded’. Therefore, there are more skirmishes, battles, mini zergs. These enable thieves to easily stomp unsuspecting players/newer players. However, in a competitive environment, against good players, especially those D/D Elementalists.. you’ll hardly ever come out as the victor in a 1v1 as a thief. I’ve played a lot of sPvP and tPvP with my thief, and I feel as if they’re nigh ‘invincible’ to backstab build thieves. Not only this, backstab thieves have to be careful in tPvP, as I have mentioned due to hard counters to them like Aegis from Guardians who normally have them up on their team at tPvP. In short, backstab thieves aren’t even close to OP when you fight real good players at tPvP in a 5v5 map. This is why I believe if they nerf backstab thieves to create a more conducive environment in sPvP, they’ll have to buff up our other builds back, so as to enable us to have more ‘variety’ or options in the more competitive side. Denim is right. Also, the price would be considerably cheaper if you had some of the mats yourself. Another way is just farming with a level 80 character in open world, you can net at the very least 1g50s an hour. Just takes dedication. Getting a crafted exotic set is not difficult at all if you have the dedication.

OP, you are obviously lacking toughness. I don’t see how a thief can hit that hard, even full glass, and you can survive all that damage? Thieves only hit that hard when you are low on health after the patch, when Heartseeker’s extra damage happens + Executioner trait takes effect + a crit. I have no idea why everyone is raging at thieves even after the patch tbh. If it’s them capping while stealth at WvWvW, then that’s another matter altogether. I play a backstab thief and have PvP’d plenty, sPvP and tPvP. In sPvP, I could hit over 5k damage hits on an ele no problem, because so many of them run glass cannon’s. Some run high vitality but low toughness, which looks to be your case too. Everyone who runs glassy builds should just stop raging when they die to full backstab/heartseeker spec thieves, seriously. It’s getting so annoying. If you run such a low toughness build, how do you expect to NOT be brought down by an assassin class? Try playing tPvP and see the ele’s over there. I have never ever won a good ele at all with my thief, no matter what strategy I try with D/D. Never tried full condition build though. So it looks pretty funny when an ele comes and says he’s having problems with fighting a thief.

I admit, in sPvP, thieves feel rather ‘OP’. I’ve been playing a thief for quite a while, and most people in sPvP browser rooms are all thieves at times. This can get rather frustrating for newer players and so.. but I feel thieves aren’t really ‘OP’. When I play in sPvP, many times I can easily come out as top of the team with higher than 10 kills without much trouble.. Why? It’s 8v8 on a 10 player map, sometimes it’s like ‘crowded’ with players. All you have to do if your running BS thief is snipe someone, get out. You don’t need to finish the player, someone else in the whole zerg most probably will.
But thieves aren’t really OP in my eyes at all, when I set foot to tPvP. Good players easily counter thieves and make us look like jokers. We can’t even be taken seriously at times when there are so many bunkers out there. It’s not like WvW where a full stealth build would actually get you somewhere, since you could cap while in stealth. Full stealth build has not really much of a use in tPvP imo. If you can’t tank, hold points, or fight in a zerg, your pretty much not needed. I’ve not even won a good tanky D/D elementalist even once. Everytime I fight them, I end up losing, really quick if I’m not careful. Yes, I run backstab, but not full glass. I spec a lot (15) into acrobatics, and as someone said ‘infinite dodges’ with Signet of Precision, around a maximum of 6 dodges. Still, I have a lot of trouble fighting those classes, let alone kill them. Once my dodges are spent, I definitely have to retreat and if they’re good, I’ll probably be dead. No, it sounded like I could stall, but I most certainly cannot. Getting hit by even more than one CC is dangerous as a thief, even with close to 16k health. Spamming HS (with haste too) will get a thief nowhere in tPvP against bunkers. Full backstab combo doesn’t even do much, and when guards are in the area, you can’t even simply try and backstab someone. Chances are, they’ll have aegis on them. If Mug is blocked, you can pretty much say goodbye. The damage on backstab now isn’t even ‘ridiculously’ high. Maybe it is to all of you people who run full glass and expect to live.

Bump.. yeah, this is really frustrating, been pvp’ing the whole day, and it’s really a thorn in my side. tPvP is almost impossible to take part in now. What I have noticed on my side is I rarely ever get a loading screen bug on Forest of Niflhel, I do, but rare. On the other hand, at Battle of Kyhlo and Legacy of the Foefire, the loading screen bug is so common. If I enter that map, it’s almost a 100% chance of getting the loading screen bug, even if I only get 1-2 deaths in the map. Playing a human female thief on Sea of Sorrows. Looking forward to this bug being fixed as PvP is practically unplayable as of now :/.
