Fist fighting elite spec idea, spill it out

i have replied to other forum posts similar to this before when specializations was first announced months before HoT came out and to no avail.

A lot of us love the fist fighting monk archetype character either from a fighting game background such as street fighter or tekken, or playing other monk archetypes such as ragnarok online, blade and soul and diablo 3. Sadly there is no news if anet will make any new weapon types coming the next expansion, we all just have to wait.

The previous expansion did not introduce new weapon types in the game, and last news i heard about this doesn’t bode well for the future. The closest i can give you that has a feel of it somewhat is playing a warrior/berserker and use either gs/hammer or m/sh hammer and then use the rampage elite alongside bull rush, sundering leap and stomp as your utility skills.

or you can play BnS i did when it came out (for 3 months) before i got bored of gear treadmill and went back to gw2. the kungfu master does for the most part what your looking for but i feel the game does not feel as smooth as gw2. Gets your fix atleast.

When i said that i knew this thread wouldnt get attention that included devs as well, this is simply a fun make-a-wish thread
I know, new weapons would be colossal work, just imagining how would it be and in what ways it could work.

I can’t really get into other mmorpgs, they either straight up bore me or doesnt have that spark that i get attached to :/

Disclaimer: I dont expect this to see any kind of attention.

Now, before you squint your eyes and say “wut” know that i’m a fan of anything that fights with gauntlets and such.
Would you like to see an elite spec that wields mechanical gauntlets whose skills are ALL flip skills (i know that it would be a kitten to use considering timing your flips and getting a right order would kill it, its just an idea) that let you use various combos you make up similiar to DoTA’s Invoker?
For example, skill 1 has 3 flips, let’s say a punch a jab and and an uppercut.
Skill 2 has 2 flips, a sweep and a high kick.

Certain skills could automatically flip others to get a combo that would end in a more meaningful way .

When you use a punch, and then jab the sweep flips to the high kick.

It’s a simple theory that can be worked in various ways.
If you too would like to grab another dude by the hair and ENGI SMASH his face with maniacally engineered makeshift steam-punk gauntlets, discuss.

One thing i didnt see being mentioned is the map.

Revenant always favors fights in small spaces where targets cannot move freely to their hearts content as you need to be up the face of your target while you fight and you’ve got an energy mechanic that is way too precious to waste on catching up a low-health target be it with Surge of The Mists or Shiro’s superspeed/quickness.

I am yet to try Rev in WvW with its full potential but one things i noticed in PVP is that i can succesfully 1vX in those maps mostly because the opposite team has to stay in capture points all the while fighting you.
So they are at a disadvantage in PVP,but WvW?
The whole map is at your service,enemy will retreat to heal or just boot it and you will be forced to stay in their faces as you manage to…well…not die by other classes superior ranged firepower if they try to kite you.

The issue you face is a change of atmosphere,you will have to adapt and overcome.

I dont like traps either,but if it was as grim as you make it to be then the game would have been hollowed out by leaving players a week or 2 ago.

If you see a DH raising his hand as if hes casting a spell but you dont see any particle effects at all,thats where he put his traps.
Dont walk there.Plain and simple.Cant be a hard concept to grasp.

Someone said something like “oh i dont have any pets or clones and i want to stay loyal to my Warrior do you want me to abandon it?!”

Use an axe/shield with defense traits.
Wait for them to True Shot you,reflect it as it has a considerable cast time that you are either blind or have a massive lack of concentration if you cant notice.

Most DH’s are pretty glassy,the moment you blast that TS back they are likely to turn tail never to be seen again.

If you dont use a shield then its your problem,use what is needed,adapt and overcome.

Stop this QQ train,this must really die out.
None of the QQ’ers around can really grasp the meaning of “OP”.

It means theres no counterplay,not someone who’s. slightly more powerful than your usual powercreep.

Somehow,the sneak gyro is actually better when it doesnt follow you all the way in PVP.

Whenever i enter a fight,i dive in using Thunder Clap/Rocket Charge as does almost every scrapper out there and the gyro stands behind a solid second and then catches up to me.
Since i get revealed the gyro wont get me any benefits and will probably get cleaved to high hell.Being late in following adds to its own survivability.

When it catches up it catches up RIGHT when my “revealed” expires.

So,well,it seems to work fine in both theory and practice.

One thing is that it seem to track your last position every second,like following dots as if the dots are your position every couple meters.

Anyone else that found it actually pretty viable?

It is once more proven that we,as the engineers,are the redheaded stepchild of the family.

I don’t think proven means what you think it means.

Each patch this week has had nerf to every profession but ours. Now I dislike the way they nerfed adaptive armor. I would have preferred that they nerfed the stacks by 40%, rather then have each stack individually nerfed. I much rather have it cap at 3 stacks for 300 toughness then take 5 stacks for the same.

Dont mind me im just being over-emotional about it.
I know its not that much.

Has to be tried out first,i guess.
Changing hammer-dependant traits and turning into pistol/shield could be considered.

Final Salvo and Rapid Regeneration can be very powerful for pistol/shield since you can blast your own moving F1 waterfield with Shield #4 while still benefitting from reflect.
Not to mention P/S also offers almost equal defensive options as hammer does.

You should mostly stay away from Necro’s in general anyways,they are your natural predators especially condi ones.

I dont really blame them for the cpu problem,that was for any toxic comment that would come inb4.

Yes i have alts because tome of knowledges,eventually got them enough to level many characters.
I love the challenging content they brought up,how the Maguuma stuff is way challenging than sitting on a stack point and slashing through the mobs.

But this,this feels so empty to do it brought me to tears from boredom.

Say,200 hero points,even 250.
But 400.

That is pretty kitten grindy,as opposed what has been promised.
All in all,im the one who screwed himself over since i couldnt keep the promise that i’d wait for a week for feedback.

So,ive gotta grind through mazes that are clearly spawns of hell,to get the elites for wvw.
Not to mention i hate frequent pve,rather than small bursts every now and then.

Dont you think that 400 is pretty much overkill too?

Elites are great,WvW borderlands are WAY TOO GREAT.
But that PvE stuff feels so forced

Well,okay.
I get it,stuff’s gotta be accessible.
Im all up for working for elites,really i do.
But hell,400?With grindfests that are stopping at night time for 45 minutes.

Allright,ive got an Engineer,a Guardian,a Ranger,and a Thief.
1600 Hero points in total.With a crappy Asus that can give me 6 fps over-all in Maguuma.
I usually get around 30 when in a usual PVP match or a casual roaming through the wvw and i call it a good day.
I could barely afford the game,dont even tell me to “oh lul git a gud pc” bs.

Is this some sort of punishment for all the negativity in the forum or something?

Whats with the Aion oozing out of the game at the moment?
Come on Anet,you make this game and that screams NC Soft all over the place.
Ive never raged about anything about this game at all,but this time,im with every one that rages with the burning of a 1000 suns,people.

You really gotta get your kitten together.

Engineer/Scrapper Gearing

I prefer valkyrie armor & a 50/50 mix of knight + zerker trinkets for frontlining (theory-crafted after I tried out the scrapper / my current frontliner goes valkyrie armor + knight trinkets).
for roaming i go full sinister
for dungeons i go full zerker
for fractals i go full sinister

For raids I either go with my Frontline mix or with sinister, I guess.

Ive used firearms traitline for %20 crit chance increase and a steady fury income and used cavalier trinks on mine.Valk armor is here to stay.
Im also using momentum and accuracy sigils along with wurm runes.

Has an about-%60 percent crit chance for most of the time without investing any stat to precision and the amounts of ferocity is terrifying.

Would love to mash on the elixir S there ever was a mirror blade flying towards me,yet that was non-existent :/

Maybe he was fresh out of a fight and had might stacked all the way from the spatial surge and the next thing i see is a trio of clones to my face.
Im suspecting mirror images and decoy because i cannot recall any GS animations that took place.

Not going to cry “OP” but,well,theres 4 dead due to the shatter after shatter at keep in Nifl and that’ve put the team about 50 points behind in a very quick manner.

Gotta work that Lock On trait it seems,just glad its not THAT common.

Hello,Straydog here.

Recently ive seen (or couldnt) a few mesmers in pvp.

These guys just roamed around the map to fight an impossible fight against an unsuspecting prey.
They come out of nowhere with their stealth,put up what i think it is to be Mirror Images and Decoy right when they are near you and then blast Mind Wrack.

BOOM immedeatly dealt with if not insta-dead.

First time i saw the thing happen,i was playing my HGH Engi which has about 25k health.

Wish i had any video of the incident,first time on Niflhel.
So i need some advice,ive played Mesmer,though not solid,but was pretty decent at it.
What is your advice.

Oh god gotta wipe the tears of laughter from my face reading this post.

I play Engineer and i efficently 2v1’d against 2 reapers during BWE3.
I was using a little tweaked HGH build and you dont even need rampage to make Reaper a joke of its own scary self.

Stay ranged,blast a couple CC’s (knockbacks are more efficent) and this slow-kitten scythe-wielding Jason Vorhees acts like the King Kong trying to catch planes diving overhead to no avail.

Dude,you play Mesmer and you are playing against apparently one of the slowest classes in the game.
Figure it out!

Beta Weekend Scrapper Feedback Thread

Tried a very tanky and decently aggressive HGH build along with the usual elixir S and X,it feels so great overall and the hammer skills are very,very useful.

Gyros have a couple problems,they cant keep up with my movement.
Every time i leave the sneak gyro it just stops dead for a solid second and then tries to keep up,gyros being locked to your character (not including blast and shredder ofc) would be pretty useful.

Hammer #3 is a treat to use but needs some polishing,the leaps miss half the time if the enemy is moving,could use the animaton sort of Heartseeker does because sometimes you end up away from the enemy.
Not exactly the same since the idea is to flash around and ride a rocket sort of out of control,but you get the idea.
Can be changed in to a 3 phase chain,1-push 1-leap,the CD starts after you use the 3rd leap.

Bulwark is better than i expected,yet still lacks a bit on the tankiness.

Blast gyro is pretty good but needs either a speed boost to it or a very slight CD reduction because its very easily avoidable and lacks a little from the kamikaze feeling.
Doesnt really push anyone on the edge or make them consider sacrificing their “oh crap” buttons.

Purge gyro may see use if it doesnt get sniped or cleaved,the condi cleansing output is pretty solid,yet its so vulnerable you dont want to release the lil guy out of pity.
If released instantly in combat while you bombard the enemy with stuns and dazes,its potentially good.

One thing that made me fall in love is the moving water field of medic gyro,its a babe.

Shock shield needs a slight work on its animation but it is pretty good,denying an Ele out for his ride the lightning/updraft combo have never been that satisfying.Especially if you retaliate back with a ton of dazes and a happy hour of hammering.

Hammer AA could use a slight attack speed buff,if not on the whole chain,just the last strike because you dont really get to pull the chain off while youre moving around so fast as in the nature of engineer.

One fatal error is that why do we get stun duration increase,while we have few stuns but loaded with dazes?
Someone in the office was out of coffee on a long day when that was made it seems.

Edit:Can Experimental Turrets trait affect gyroes too?I dont really care about the buffs but the reflective bubbles would be game-changing for the gyroes.

Engineer has a trait that distributes %12 of the healing he receives to the party.
You can get them some soldiers along with vampirism and leeching.
Backpack regenerator trait also heals you constantly while you have a kit equipped,not to mention all the blast fields and regeneration.
Could make a good hybrid but may stuck as a role filler where both dps and healing are needed equally.

Actually,that would be pretty bad@ss.

I found the core weakness of turrets to be their immobility as someone can disengage casually,snipe the turrets down then come back and kill you while all your utility is wasted for nothing.

It’s kind of sad that a whole style of play gets decimated because it can be scrapped as an idea for a new sub-class.
They took away the turrets from engi,gave them to Scrapper.

The Sneak Gyro stealthes himself briefly but then explodes

Shooting only when the Engi is visible would cure its flaws right away.Brilliant idea BUT it may collide on itself.

Think of it like that,you get out of stealth it begins shooting.
You decide to get in,it already loaded its shot and you get revealed,since you got revealed it will shoot AGAIN and perpetually reveal you.

Hail,WINgineers.
After rifling through the forums,i’ve seen that Engineer community still mourns turrets while acknowleding that it has been broken before it got “fixed”.

So instead of just simply adjusting all the mathematics about the stats i’ve decided to tinker about turrets a little bit,rather on the side how to adapt and change them.
We all know that AI controlled minions are a bane of existence for many players,they aggro stuff with stupid manuevers,get stuck,die the quickest and most horrid of deaths when they are needed the most etc.

It seems that turrets as they are cannot be salvaged.
So lend me your ears (or in this case,eyes) and tell me what you think of.

First and foremost,Rifle Turret.
The thing itself is really not enough,just standing there and shooting only to get cleaved to high hell.

Instead of RT;Skirmish Bot.

Imagine a rifle on tank threads that instead of chasing the enemy,runs away from it.
Rifle Turret has a range of 1000.
So will Skirmish Bot and it will try to maintain that range.
For an example,whenever a hostile enters the 700 range,it will back away to 850.
Ive left a 150 tick difference so the turret can cover the area even if the enemy moves a lot.
If the enemy gets too far away it will move towards enemy until it reaches the threshold of 850.

New fashion should bring new names i believe.
New skill:Chew’em Up!

Attack speed of turret doubles/triples depending on the mercy of the developers if this thread gets noticed.

With Experimental Turrets trait the Skirmish Bot gets piercing shots with the secondary skill that grants it attack speed.
This way,theres a chance for the said Skirmish Bot to get into zerging meta as it will keep sniping from a safe distance.

Rocket Turret as it was brought forth some serious firepower.
I have no idea in mind for the mobility behaviour but i think it should maintain maximum range as rifle turret does.

For a new skill idea:Artillery Assault.
Getting a reflective dome with the ET trait,it will saturate a ground-targeted area with a hail of rockets,creating a combo field.

Thumper Turret as Rocket Turret is was a sufficent and effective one.
Its tanky nature and CC capabilites have been pretty tough.
But still,lack of mobility is a total set back for turrets as they get sniped from a GS Mesmer or any Ranger in general.
They should be deployed instantly when a fight occurs instead of a stay-and-wait type of bunkering behaviour to hold a point.

Another idea is tank threads.
Thumper Turret -if this thread succeeds,may be called Thumper Drone- chases the enemy down until reaches melee range and begins attacking.Pretty straightforward.

For a new skill:Breach and Clear.
Thumper Drone charges forward,knocking the enemy of their feet as did the Thumper Turret. ET trait should give the drone access to stealth,vanishing out of sight moments before it charges.
Something that bulky should be slow,so giving it a chance to conceal itself shouldnt be so out-of-place.

Net Turret should stay as it is,except mobile.

For a new skill:Electrified Net.
Shooting an electrified net,the turret not only immobilizes the enemy but also dazes them.
With the ET trait,the Net Turret will fire an overcharged net,randomly zapping targets around the target,dazing them momentarily.

For the last one,I dont really know if this should be changed but since i already begun,the elite skill;

E.M.P.-Engineer’s Murder Platform.

After a brief set-up cast,the Engineer will set up a weapon platform.Which sits idle if unmanned.
Engineer will maintain its access to his summoned minion’s secondary skills.
The turret will act as a kit,completely changing the skill set and will be immobile with a range of 1500 and will have a decent blend of defensive and offensive skills.

Turrets as an idea is a bit uncreative.
We are the psychopatic anarchists of Tyria,not the ones that should give out a heroic pose on a pile of corpses,rather the type of guy who lets out a flamboyat “Good morning everyone!” to his terrified enemies as the camera pans to the charred,poisoned,hollowed out corpse that belongs to the first of said terrified group who dare took his chance against him.

We need toys of destruction that have been made creatively cruel and cruelly creative.

Idle turrets that shoot around however,is a bit too old fashioned.

Currently all my engi does is camp at tequatl and spam mortars between 1am and 1.15am. . . this will actually make me do more with him again. Used to run fractals with him then got bored of that and went back to using mesmer/ele there but this has me thinking of stripping my ranger off again and moving it to the engi (ranger had it for wvw – switched that to guardian for now till HoT).

Hmm, becoming tougher and tougher to pick a class for PvE side of the game come HoT as I don’t like using same character in various game modes else I would get bored.

WvW – Revenant (pretty much a certainty, just got to decide what role in guild raids I want)

sPvP – meh whatever the dailies are. So play most classes there except theif!

PvE – Engi? Reaper (used to main necro)? Rev? .. all 3 have me interested now. Mesmer too as that was my original character and I miss the little asura!

are my twin or something? I just run engi / necro and soon rev will be thrown in the mix. Depending on the day i mix class and game modes without any particular reason (well, except as you said, spvp dailies )

Anyway whole Scrapper concept seems pretty cool. I’ll hate if those little drones will be very susceptible to damage.
Something i hope is that they are immune to damage but not CC, or VERY high V/T

They will definitely be not immune.But the new engi seems to have TONS of CC and i am guessing that anyone that wants to reach for the drones will have to sweat and bleed for it.

Boy oh boy,ive been waiting for the elite spec and felt some…sensations…when ive read about it.

I love the drones.
They seem to be rather fair than the pets of the Ranger since they will have a single task assigned to them and they will go for that,instead of going ape-kitten and aggro everything possible before suffering a horrible death.
We will have to protect them as they revive an ally or saturate the area with AOE’s so a thief wont be able to reach it before being revealed.
Think of clearing the SM from pesky portal mesmers with it instead of the easily avoidable Lock On-FT fire cleansing combo.

Power-over-toughness,the stability and possibility of perma might are godlike.

Hop on boys,we are going meta.

Well for a full-cleric Healer Guard for WvW its quite well actually.
At least my hands arent full with healing and can go frontline instead of backlining.
I have one ascended ring and cleric asc chest piece along with Hronk’s Bastion here.
Other trinkets are either not exotic,not cleric,not over lvl 30 or non existant because this char is fresh yet still passive is 1.5k.

300 radius hinders its use a lot though,that needs to go up to 700 at least.

Engineers are a kitten to deal with.
Get over it,if i can manage about 25 skill to deal with you,you can deal very well with not blowing all your kittening rotation on me when im invulnerable while STILL eating conditions.
Yes thats true,the condition that have been eaten before the elixir effect kicks in still work.

Having that much is pretty realistic,spreading your whole magazine to a soldier behind a cover is not.

Holy hell had to play hide and seek with all the oneshot thieves whole day.

Mortar Proj. Finisher is functionally useless

I think the mortar kit is optimized for WvW much much more where you can spray and pray confusing death from 1500 range which works impressively until you are spotted;
only to escape with a 900 range overcharged rocket boot leap.

Not only the projectile finisher is hard to use in PvP but so is the velocity of the projectiles.

Cant delete chars.

Hi,i dont know if anyone have experienced this but heres the problem.
I cant delete characters.

I have rolled a necromancer today and realized that i didnt like it.
I moved to delete the char and boom the “delete” option wont become available.
Here’s why;

You know,you have to write down a char’s name to delete it but it shows an extra “,” after the name of the char and you cant put punctuation in a char name.

For example “Damien Gorelust,” or “Quinn Withersoul,”.

I’ve tried copy-pasting a comma from a notebook but welp,doesnt work.

The Invisible Hacker Necro

Hello,Slaymeding aka Defcon The Straydog reporting in from Ruins of Surmia.

Today in EOTM some random Necro begun rampaging through our small army,totally invisible and untargetable around Overgrowth Altar where you kill elemantals to gather unstable magic.
We couldnt track him in combat log either,he doesnt show up.

He is confirmed to be Necro,bite animations and fear and such.

Has anybody else ran through that guy?

Would like to attach a screenshot but the dude just slew half of us in minutes out of nokittenwhere.

That happened twice around the Altar as well.
