Stop allowing ppl to change characters mid match, especially in PAIDS!! When you are winning by almost 200 points and then some premade try hard team switchs to builds that counter the builds you are in it becomes unfair and frustrating!!

So please patch this in asap if you can, thank you very much!

I posted this is the bug thread but ill add it here, Lightning Flash seems to be able to port you along with AoE spells mid cast, IE the big earth AoE that adds 9 stacks of bleed. An ele was porting to me today and having it follow him and cast on me. As they are 2 different spells I would think casting Lightning Flash would cancel the cast of the Earth AoE.

To lazy to read through to see if this is posted or not, but it was just being done on me and seems buggy.

An ele was casting the big Earth AoE on me the that does 9 stacks of bleed, anyway I would dodge out if it he would use lightning flash to port to me and have the AoE follow and cast on me.

I would think casting lightning flash would cancel the cast of the AoE instead of moving it with the ele…

Anyway if this is working as intended it seems OP for an already powerful AoE

Dont wanna read through everything but this problem seems to be rampant lately. From what Ive seen it has something to do with thief stealth spike, when characters are downed. An opposing thief seems to be exploting it earlier, everytime one of us was downed he would stealth and finish then bam loading bug.

When is the next balance patch?

I smell the usual “Thank you for your feedback this post will be closed” response coming soon… As that seems to be the most amount of feedback were gonna get. Some kind of legit response would be nice though but im not gonna hold my breath, I’m off this game for now and if nothing gets fixed by next month then a nice quick uninstall will be in the works!

@ Phandaria… Jon replying in broad answers to try and quite us all down is not a good response. Im used to playing MMO’s where the Devs interact with the players and even discuss the changes they had planned, and are not afraid to put up patch notes to let us the people who they affect the most discuss them and give feedback..

This is just utter disappointment, I loved GW1 and had faith in this game but… but… but.. Its just garbage, I mean @ only 2 months in they are putting out new content that technically makes the old content obsolete (dungeons which sucked to being with)… how is that good prioritizing…

I kept faith though cause MY ONLY kittenING LVL 80 which was my main profession in GW1 which I loved and want oh so badly to play here was supposed to be getting some love… Well I guess if you enjoy getting kicked in the balls you could still play your ranger…. worst part is now LB warriors will be the ranged spec in PVP making us more useless.

Anyway im done with this game and I vote we all make “My Ranger is Useless so Im not Playing anymore” Threads and see if them merge those…

P.S. ANET take a hint from kittening TRION get a dev devoted to each class… 2 devs for all the classes in the game is kitten considering the amount of bugs and problems there is… im sure your fancy content development branch could spare a few ppl…

@winter what I mean when I say “TREADMILL” doesnt solely reflect gear… im using it in a very general and broad way to describe progression within the game. Heroes for example were a thing that with time spent could progress to making you rather powerful.

As for FoW and UW yes they didnt have stat upgrades but they had unique items and rewards which combined with their difficulty made them feel rewarding when they first launched.

@Sonic Its not the “TREADMILL” that is the problem or even the new tier of gear, its the way they are putting it in the game, and how soon they are stating to do it. It’s as if its them realizing there isnt much to do at endgame so they are adding some cheap substance to keep people hooked.

They need to go back to the drawing bored and find ways to introduce this “TREADMILL” into the game in more subtle fashions as they did in GW1… A good start would be re-imagining FoW and UW in my opinion, content that is hard but fun, and offers minimal but satisfying reward.

EDIT: Also they need to do a mass rework of thier loot tables, as fighting huge HP walls and doing some of the more epic quest chains just to get nothing but KITTEN blues is no way in god living hell rewarding or satisfying…

Inevitable you say? I’m pretty sure there’s an extremely relevant counterexample that disproves that.

LOL man did you even play GW1? there was a very clear defined treadmill in that game, there was ways of obtaining much better gear and HEROES in my opinion actually broke the game… it may not have been as cookie cutter as “GRIND THIS RAID” until the piece you want drops from a certain boss, but for example my buddie had over 1 million gold, much better gear then me, and was way more powerful. This happened cause he had the treadmill on max speed and chose to sprint along on it, while i chose to get off lol

In GW1 they were just alot more inventive, I.E. when FoW and UW first popped up and they were insanely difficult and none one could even beat them for a while… and the gear they provided was only minimal upgrades but it felt like you accomplished something mainly because of the sheer difficulty.

Gear Tread-mill or not it doesn’t change the fact that right now “Endgame” is boring as all hell… I see people complaining about their gear being obsolete, but thats far from the problem. The current dungeon content is far to easy with gimmicky boss who all have high HP instead of real and fun mechanics. And instead of addressing the problem with current dungeons they are just adding one dungeon to rule them all, and make the previous ones obsolete.

So gear progression or not isnt the idea of an MMO longevity? Ive been playing MMOs for almost 10 years, and this is the first time ive actually “beat the game” in less then 2 months… and the argument that this is supposed to be a PVP game to get keep you playing is false. The PVP is fundamentally broken and full of bugs, and the one dimensional zerg encouraging game type is a far cry from an e-sport.

So I think people should stop complaining about this “gear treadmill” and how its gonna break the game, and focus more on will this new content really keep you hooked until the next patch? I personally think Anet needs to go back to the drawing board and fix alot more of the core of the game.

Anyway rant aside, a “gear treadmill” in an MMO is inevitable as its what these games are built around. I didnt expect Anet to start implementing it so soon, and hopefully in the future they can find other ways to keep players hooked. And yes it may only be 2 rings and a backpack, but it shows the direction they are heading.

Taming in GW1 was just equipping Charm Animal, run to a tameable pet, use Charm Animal and wait for 10 seconds (and hope your team mates don’t kill it).
You’re confusing GW1 with Pokemon or so.

Yes but by equipping Charm animal you had to remove a skill that may have been useful to your build, as well some of the pets were in rather obscure and hard to reach places… unlike GW2 where almost half the pets if not more can be found in a cave with no enemies in SoD… either way pets, and alot of things in GW1, were alot more interesting.

Medium armor as whole is terrible in general not just for charrs… its all very flat and boring with none of the nice little details that the other armors have. Just go to PVP and preview all the armors in your locker the medium ones look horrendous. Best combo I have found is Arah chest with all CoF for the rest, and going a brownish leather color as our main dye and using a bone like color for the rest works well.

My biggest problem is lack of input from the Devs, I played RIFT hardcore for over a year and when there was problems the Devs always acknowledged them and they would even put up patch notes ahead of the patch date so ppl could see what to expect… GW2 devs need to get their kitten together a little (I know its alot of work but still…) and not focus on stupid helloween events and going to some stupid island thats gonna just give us more ways to look pretty….

So I dont have high hopes for the 15th (but its not a big deal as I found a ranger build that works well), and I think the main reason is being spoiled by the Devs over at Trion

Gonna throw in my say to prove how the PVP system is buggered all to hell. The other day I solo queued, and it put me on a team with one guy, which is all good, but then bam a pre-made pops in and the guy im with logs out. What happens, the stupid game keeps going and expects me to face 1v5 by myself…. I couldnt log out or do anything, I had to sit there and take the beating to get out of it… exiting my game and coming back just ported me back into the beating…

Bad enough this game makes solo queue ppl get there kitten handed to them against pre-mades… it even thinks ppl should be bale to 1v5 apparently. So I have my hopes up for the 15th, but if PVP doesnt get better there seems to be no point in playing as PVE is utterly pointless unless you wanna grind for 50000 hours…

Im gonna agree with what some of the ppl here are saying, as my ranger usually rocks Mesmers no problem. I think you need to re-think your spec if mesmers are are giving you that much trouble. On the other hand I hate Engies they just stomp the every living crap outta me (especially those bunker kittens)

Just gonna throw in my 2 cents, just started PVPing with a guarding recently and I havent seen any builds similar to mine being run and the only class that gives me real trouble is ranger because of the constant distance between us. That being said I dont see any problem with Guardian range, if you play right and use our gap closer’s range is never really a problem. Guardian is a really powerful class if played right, and I think giving them more ranged attacks would make them the most powerful class in the game by a long shot… its there lack of range that keeps them slightly weak!

One quest though, why can guardian spirits move down cliffs and ranger pets cant? are the AI of the 2 so different? coudnt you just put the pathing AI of the spirits onto the pets?

Again I doubt they were balance reason, why should my pet not have its attacks hit simply because of an animation… how is that balance? Why should a BIRD behave like a friggin land animal! And i dont mean cast time, take the wolf fear for example, why does the wolf run to the target and start to cast it but then fail if the target moves to far before his animation locks in? I want him to howl he should just kitten howl when i say…

Another thing is pets behave just like NPC, the pet is supposed to be an extension of me not an NPC… I like my comparison in my earlier post of the pet being like the Mystic Forge its all RNG if its gonna work or not.

P.S. If the devs say pet AI is fine and its meant to be that way because of balance issues then I will gladly stick to my guardian.

@ kirby… if you think the pet AI is decent as is then you are nuts sir lol. There is no need to adjust the division between ranger and pet because it would be fine pets worked right… I.E attacking while moving, better pathing, and actually using their abilities when you tell them to.

I hate the fact that when im up at Keep, even my kittening bird, cant fly down from the perches and attack, and instead chooses to go all the way down the hill and come all the way back up through the NPC type routing path… this is not good AI

Fix these things first and formost and then there would be no division between ranger and pet, for the pet would actually deal its dmg reliably there for boosting rangers dps output significantly simply by fixing crappy AI.

All of this has led me to believe that the we as rangers all get to drag around our own personal Mystic Forge… The only way it gives us anything viable is based on pure RNG, and since Anet seems to love RNG i think were gonna be stuck with the personal forges…

Well i know ive been on board with the ranger dislike, but after taking a few days off and playing my Guardian, and then coming back to my ranger I can saw ive found some love in it… I took a step back and built a build outside the normal signants/QZ builds that everyone does.

I ran this build all day today and it offers good survivability and dmg output, so while ranger is still rather broken we do have options, ones that work at that!

1. our pets should always hit targets regardless of what we do, we should be able to do nothing and still and know that our pet is still hitting things, as in the video the bird shouldnt miss just because he wanted to wind up and fly in a stupid circle before attacking.

2. GS leap dont count, it has a bad animation and it slows you at the end, Sword leap throws you backwards, nuff said there. And warhorn doesnt count, as well as th epaltry 10% from the signant…. having the speed buff in a signant makes it useless unless I spec signants…. Why do most other class get to spec into passive 20 or 25% speed buffs, when I the "RANGE"r dont get to… speed is kind of implied in my name one would think.

Arc aside wouldnt a smart archer just lean over the edge a little so he could get full pull on his bow and line drive an arrow into said enemies head?

I mean in most historic castles there is little spaces usually along keep walls so archers can do just that.

Worst thing about that Aotd is its in the Necro forums, and while necro needs a few bug fixes its no where near as broken as the useless ranger… yet for some reason there seems to be constructive dev feedback as to whats happening with necro.

Wish we could get that here, instead of the old run around, you know the old “patch is coming wait longer”…

I think its beyond the point of bug fixes Aeri, lately in PVP no matter what spec I play i get destroyed, as ppl get better and learn the mechanics of the game more it just keeps driving in how utterly useless Rangers are…

@Marcus 343 studios has no track record Halo 4 is their first game and its getting rave reviews so far… So I dont understand your hate for them.

@Doom Pushing out bug fixes and patches along with content is not hard at all, look @ RIFT for example they would have huge content updates along with bug fixes and character changes all the time… What GW2 needs is a PTS so they can make changes ASAP and then we the ppl can test them and see how they work… real time feedback works wonders and would speed things up alot.

What does “0 odds, you have no odds, I have no odds” even mean?

It’s means exactly what it says… there is no odds of getting anything from the forge. RNG = Random and if you know how a Slot Machine works then you know how the forge works… We all have the same 0% chance of getting anything from it, its all random dumb luck which is poor mans game design in my opinion.

Im dont know if it was explain but ill sum up why the Mystic Forge is crap…

RNG = Random Number Generator… This is mean if the forge actually uses real RNG then there are 0 odds, you have no odds, I have no odds, its all 100% random.

This means joe-blow could put 4 swords in and get Dawn, where as I could put 10 million in and never get anything. This is underhand and wrong on so many lvls, and it shows why the pre cursors on the TP are so over priced… joe-blows got them and said forget the legendaries and threw them up there, all the while ppl like the OP are suffering… Anet needs to rethink this somehow.

Also the gem store may be optional, but I bet on average ppl have spent more in there then they would on a subscription MMO over the course of 6 months, and this game has barely been out for 2…………… think about it you buy gems twice and thats almost the cost of 6 months in some MMO’s… and worst of all GEMS are freaking useless for the most part!!!

This game needs to be more game and less Barbies Dress Up: Lets make a pop video edition!

I like GW2 PVP so far, it has its problems and needs alot of balancing in my opinion but overall its enjoyable, and will be even more so when rangers get their fix that should be coming soon.

IF you want some more traditional style PVP thats still highly skill based try out RIFT, yes it has the H3 but every class can do at least 2 of those 3 very well and in PVP you can actually triumph with skill over Gear if you are good enough.

Dont know if this was mentiond anywhere but AC path 1 has been bugged for a while, the last 5 times i tried it we couldnt finish it.

Im on SoS and it alwasy happens at the part after the protect Hodgins thing, when you have to go to the main room to find the other scepter parts. He never activates the next part and opens the doors.

I see a lot of SB rangers speculating an SB buff. To them, I say I doubt you will get one. SB needed a nerf and ANet seems to be satisfied with the results. There are so many weapons and skills that are in worse condition than the nerfed SB. SB is still one of the top weapons if not the single best weapon rangers have right now.

So SB rangers hoping for a buff just weeks after the nerf, don’t hold your breath.

Umm SB is garbage… the only reason it was OP slightly before was becuase of QZ and the inane amount of bleed stakcs you could aquire… now with the speed reduction you pretty mcuh have to be in melee range to keep up any decent amount of bleed stacks, and when you are that close sword is just worlds better.

Also did you read any of these posts, there was barely anything about SB and i think the general consensus is we have more important things to focus on… this seems like a troll from someone who gets owned by rangers in PVP lol.

I dont know if these 2 were mentioned anywhere, and one of them seems to be fixxed so far.

1. Pet revive when downed, please please fix this so it works all the time!! Lately I havent seen it being bugged which is nice, but dont let it come back its soooo annoying. Our downed state is already weak as all hell compared to other mist form, teleporting, clone making, reviveing instantly and smashing you classes that its soooo aggrivating when your pet runs over and no heal happens lol… overall i think our downed state needs a slight tweak.

2. Fix Warhorn #4 skill saying target is obsructed when they go out of my LoS, WTF is the point of having birds attack the target if they are blind when i cant see him!

Couple more things for the sake of it!!

Fix survival skill reduction not working on elites.

Fix condition dmg increas not working on elites.

Fix rampage as one being nothing more then a glorified Warhorn 5

Also do something about our condition dmg, ranger seems to be oriented around it quite a bit but from what ive noticed compared to other classes the dmg it does (especially bleeds) is excruciatingly low… yes we can keep alot of stacks up but with such low dmg it dont matter when 1 stack of bleed from other classes kitten us.

Also our only viable condition removal shouldnt be Healing Spring.

Oh and to add, some traits and skill seem only useful in PVE or PVP but not in both, this just makes alot of them useless… prime examples:

Fallling and creating muddy terrain… i mean come on WTF are you guys that hard up for ideas lol

Granting swiftness when i revive someone… average at best in PVE and utterly useless in PVP.

Just gonna throw in my 2 cents here, all this BLC non sense is one of the main fundamental problems with this game. It feels as if the “END GAME” content has become either an ingame money grind or one stop cash in at the gem store for anet… (i dont mind supporting I have spent a bunch of real cash in there, i was just smart and bought what i wanted so it felt worht it)

Im not complaining about the skins or the event but the whole game design in general… I prefer an MMO to have something for me to strive towards, have team oriented goals that make me want to go out and acomplish them. For example make the legendaries more then just mother kitten skins… at least make the god kitten stats 2 points higher then an exotic so it feels worth it somewhat.

As it is this game is nothing more then a reflection of our society right now, its like a flashy kitteny rap video, where the most succesful person with the most money looks the coolest… but is still hallow as the kitten they have doesnt net them anything more for the effort they may have put in.

It also has to do with the loot tables in this game (Magic Find is a kitten stat that needs to die) nothing of worth every drops, and you dont ever get any sense of rewad for your time spent… you wanna look cool spend money or grind… and yes raiding in other MMOs is grinding but at least its team oriented and fun (I came to this game from RIFT, not the greatest MMO but it had amazingly well crafted boss encouters that required team work and there was actual useful drops to look forward to… not just bashing heads on big HP walls)

Anyway the risk/time invested vs. reward is way off in this game… and the end game is rather lame… Also with the halloween skins, if they are just RNG (true RNG) from chests then that is kitten as the odds of getting one is technically 0%, if you know how a slot machine works you know RNG = 0% as its 100% kittening random!!!!!!

P.S. I still love this game as the PVP is well done and keeps me entertained.

Rampage As One isn’t a bad skill, especially considering that it would stop you being stun locked for 20 seconds…

So one skill with a long CD and a 1 sec cast time, what do I do save it for when i see a thief and hope I can get the cast off before he ports in and stun locks me… sounds fun not using my skills to kill all the other ppl.

alot of classes can stun lock and think that should be nerfed or at least toned down a little. Cause more then 3 seconds of stun lock usually = death.

Skills that break stun and Stability are your friends.

I think theives are fine for the most part, what they need to nerf is the port in and stun lock you bs, alot of classes can stun lock and think that should be nerfed or at least toned down a little. Cause more then 3 seconds of stun lock usually = death.

RoRo if you noticed I Said nothing about there health being nerfed lol, Lupi’s dmg was nerfed or bugged… i did him a few days ago with no stacks and his teleport 1 shot, then i did him with 7 stacks and his teleport still one shot, yesterday though it barely did 50% of my HP worth of dmg… I was wearing the same gear everytime.

As with Alphard evertime ive fought him hes done the teleport to the middle thing except for yesterday, if it is just random then oh well, he was much easier when not doing it lol

If they were just bugs then so be it, but it seemed to make the dungeon easier… and i still stand by my statement that overall health should be lowered on mobs a little and balanced by them having harder mechanics…

Little things like these make me think the devs over at Anet are slightly off there rocker… let me explain what i noticed, there were only 2 major ones.

1. Lupi now doesnt one shot you in phase 2 when he teleports, meaning you die alot less making him easier to pull.

2. In path 2 Alphard (however you spell it) doesnt teleport to the middle and do the massive AoE anymore.

My major complaint, it nerfed these fights in the wrong way, yes they’re easier quite a bit actually… all it did though was further turn these enemies into big brick walls that were trying to smash down, and is a perfect example of one of my major gripes with this game, MORE HEALTH DOESNT EQUAL MORE DIFFICULT!!!!!

So please revert these enemies back to their more difficult nature and nerf their health, by nerfing their abailites it makes the game boring and annoying cause all i do is bash my head against them… in the current state i find fighting a group of stun locking Technicians and one shotting Deadeyes more hard and annoying then either of those bosses. Yes i do know there is proper ways to fight those enemies, but currently their abailities are more powerful then bosses.

So rant aside make bosses actually difficult and lower health of enemies overall, especially on trash… but please dont nerf abilities anymore thinking 30 mintues just bashing a boss is fun.

PS: if the changes i notcied to these abilities is a bug then please disegard this post! Thank you for an otherwise great game as well.
