Same issue for me, on login. Then when I finally got in it happened while loading the PvP map. Sorry guys
I’m a casual player and I only have time to play gw2 for about one hour per day. The queue time essentially prevents me from playing WvW, which is the only part of the game that I really enjoy.
Queues weren’t even this bad on launch weekend for me. I’m a casual player on a fairly casual server and I liked it that way.
LOL. Wow, I can’t believe that is an actual response from the development team. Here’s a link for integrating google search on your forum. It’s free, by the way.

For now, I certainly won’t feel bad about posting duplicate topics.
I need to learn a third class for the pvp ascension achievement. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a good build that does not involve the elite spec (and ideally a tutorial for the build). Everything I can find seem to be outdated or requires the elite spec, which I do not have time to get on this character.
I guess I’m open to a non-bunker build as well if that’s the only way to be competitive without the elite spec.
Thanks
The match-making system just put me with 4 guards against 2 thieves, 2 mesmers, and a rev. Needless to say, we won. 500 to 43.
The problem is not just the rank matching, but that the classes and specs are fundamentally unbalanced. Until Anet decides to fix that pvp is broken.
It automatically executes the search after I type only one or two characters and usually only finds one or two posts in the results. Search is an important feature for a forum.
I’m using Chrome, if that matters.
Thanks
Hi, I was wondering when they are going to fix the overpowered elite specs. Pvp is completely broken right now.
I wouldn’t mind if elite specs were slightly better, but some of them are completely broken. Anyone who has played the game since HoT would surely agree with that. It really ruins the pvp experience.
Right, I was implying it was probably not overheating when I mentioned it also crashed when the temp was only 131F. Temps still seems hot considering it only wants to run the fan at 30-40%, but what do I know.
I just tried reducing the core clock speed by 381 MHz (the slider control was not very precise and I did not want to go past 400). It crashed in less then 2 minutes after the game started up. It seems like the game is crashing faster and faster now.
Also, alteriel I do have shadowplay disabled. I don’t see any way to adjust the power management for the graphics card though. Nothing in geforce experience or the nvidia control panel.

I just tried enabling the onboard graphics card again, and disabling the NVIDIA card in my device manager. I was plugged into the DVI port directly in the graphics card, so I had to switch to the VGA port on the motherboard.
Then I tested GW2 with the onboard graphics card and it crashed again after just 2 minutes or so. This time it did not blue screen, the screen just scrambled and was stuck there. According to GW2 system requirements my onboard card is sufficient (but man, the frame rate made my eyes hurt). The graphics auto-detect had set everything to low.
Then when I tried to restart I did not get any signal. I noticed this before but forgot to mention that when my monitor is plugged into the motherboard I do not get any signal until windows started up. This time there was never any signal. I tried restart multiple times, then I figured what the heck, I’ll try the DVI port on the NVIDIA card even though it’s disabled and magically it worked somehow. The device manager still says the NVIDIA card is disabled.
I tested again with the current settings just to pay more attention to the temperature. The GPU fans do not run unless I’m playing the game. Seems like the idle temp is pretty high to not run the fans, but what do I know.
When the game started, the fans kicked on pretty quickly. The fan speed read at 30-40% in the afterburner program. The temp got up to 140F but went down to 130F after the fans had been running for a sec. The computer crashed at 131F (I had GW2 minimized at the time). It crashed after only 2 minutes, perhaps because I kept going in and out of GW2.
I just installed MSi afterburner and I was actually about to ask about the temps. It’s running at 107F and I haven’t even played any games today. I have the side of my case removed already.
If I were to test with lower clock speeds, is it the “core clock” that I should reduce?
And alteriel, I did look that stuff up but honestly it’s over my head. If that even turns out to be the problem I’ll probably just reformat rather than mess with it.
Thank you for your help alteriel.
I tried physically removing the graphics card and then put it back in, with no change. I then uninstalled the driver for NVIDIA the graphics card using the device manager. I noticed there were still some NVIDIA files in the Programs folder, so I deleted all of them manually. Then I re-downloaded the driver from the NVIDIA site and installed it again.
The driver was installed successfully, but the NVIDIA tool said there was another update available (same as last time) – GeForce Game Ready Driver. I had the same problem before installing this driver update last time, so I installed it again. My machine crashed during the first attempt during the “Preparing to install” phase; the screen became scrambled and I had to hard restart. The second attempt installed successfully.
I noticed that I still had the onboard graphics card in the device manager (I don’t remember seeing it there before uninstalling the NVIDIA driver). I disabled the onboard graphics card using the device manager.
Then started up GW2. This time after playing for about 5 minutes I got the same freeze as before, but a few seconds a blue screen of death. This is the first time the blue screen has happened.
The crash dump is attached. I also did !analyze -v and lmvm nt but I’m not really sure how to interpret the dump.

Nope, the screen just freezes and looks exactly like the graphics normally appear. No artifacts or other changes.
No, the power supply was not replaced, but the repair shop performed a diagnostic and said it is fine. It’s a corsair 750W.
After testing again I’ve noticed it actually switches between 3.0 and 1.1. It goes down to 1.1 after I have GW2 minimized for a minute. But I’ll try removing the card, I guess it couldn’t hurt.
Edit: I did the Render Test in the GPU-Z app and it brings it back to 3.0. It says power conservation features might put it down to lower levels when not in use.

Hello,
I just had my CPU, graphics card, and motherboard replaced (A while back my liquid cooling system leaked and my computer caught on fire). I’m not an extremely technical person so I had a repair shop do this to ensure my other components were functioning properly. They reformatted my HD and I’ve updated all of my drivers.
Now whenever I play GW2, after about 5 to 15 minutes the screen freezes and my speakers make a loud static noise. I cannot CTRL-ALT-DEL or otherwise exit the program and I have to perform a hard restart. It happens every time I play. I suspect this is not specifically an issue with GW2 since I had a similar crash while watching an HD video but that has only happened once so far. So maybe it’s not appropriate to post this problem here, but I’m not sure what to try next.
Here are my system specs:
Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4790k CPU – 4GHz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
1) Installing all mandatory windows updates. Might be worth noting that I had multiple failures during the update installation and made multiple attempts. I used the Windows update troubleshooting tool and it was able to resolve the problems. Now it says all of the updates have been successfully installed.
2) Installed new drivers for the graphics card. NVIDIA GeForce tool says the driver is now up to date.
3) Memtest – passed
4) Chkdsk – no problems found
5) Ran the -repair tool for the GW2 game client
6) Ran DxDiag (results attached) – not sure if this is relevant
7) Ran GPU-Z graphics card diagnostic tool (results attached) – looks okay to me, but I’m not very technical
Any suggestions for what might be the culprit or other troubleshooting I could try?
Thanks in advance.

Hello!
My PC has been out of commission for a little over a year, but I’ve finally got it up and running again.
I was wondering if a kind person would provide brief summary of what has happened in Tyria in the past year or so, and any other major changes to the game… And perhaps recommendations for what to do first when the game is finished installing!
Thanks!
Thanks neon, that post makes me feel a bit better.
“The new additions in November are just the start of our item progression initiative.”
Till I see a set after Ascending gear this is only speculation on the Ascending set itself, sorry.
I guess all we can do is speculate, but I think the quote certainly insinuates a WoW-like gear progression. I could also say that you are speculating that it doesn’t mean that :P
Plus your whole argument is pretty much saying give me free cookies…. Work for the gear, and when you look kitten feel acomplished
I have no problem with it being difficult to get gear that looks really cool. As long as I don’t need that difficult-to-get gear in order to explore game content.
“The new additions in November are just the start of our item progression initiative.”
“Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.”
This quote from the ascended gear announcement has disappointed me.
I haven’t played Guild Wars 1, but I understand grinding is minimal because all gear has the same stats at max level. I heard ArenaNet planned to continue this model in GW2, which is what originally attracted me to the game. In fact it made me pretty excited. I was really looking forward to relaxing and having fun, rather than having to grind just so I could enjoy all of the content.
Having to grind for gear that gives an “edge” of any kind is really the opposite of what I hoped GW2 would be. This is the least creative way to challenge players and create a sense of advancement. I really hope ArenaNet decides not to continue down this path.
Hmm, I guess you need 500k karma for legendary weapons after looking into it. But the karma is probably the easiest part of getting one of those :P
Someone in map chat said they spent 800k karma and I was just trying to figure out what they could be spending it on because I didn’t think to ask at the time. I guess they got the god armor and a legendary weapon.
I’m personally not a big fan of the god karma armor sets. Heavy is cool, but medium and light not so much.
I was wondering if there is anything else cool to do with loads of karma now, or if I should just save it up in anticipation of future updates and expansions.
Well, I was banned and then they removed the ban because I didn’t do anything wrong. Call that whatever you want.
It’s happened to a lot of people due to their efforts to stop bots.

Edit: To be clear, I’m not complaining that. I’m glad they are doing something about bots. Mistakes happen; hate to break it to you but even ANet isn’t perfect
(edited by Slive.9053)
Does ANet typically have such events annually?
Unfortunately my account was banned by mistake and I missed the end of the event. I hadn’t bought my recipes yet but have over 1000 candy corns saved up. It’s hard to justify having 6 bank slots filled with them for a year without being certain
Or, by any chance, are the recipes still available somewhere?
Thanks

@Evisceration.8107 – same thing happened to me, just log a ticket and they’ll take care of it. At least they are trying to do something about the bots.
@others – support doesn’t read this thread, it’s just for player discussion
I wish there would be more female asura running around, man those asura are hot!
I also feel like the drop rate increased lately, but it seemed to correspond to when I got my MF gear. Maybe that was a coincidence.
OP was TL;DR but I like the multi-guild system.
Guys, the Dredge are just misunderstood mutants from Kryta that were exiled to the dark underbelly of Tyria due to their misfigured faces, and then later they were disturbed by Charr mining operations that destroyed their new home. Instead of mindlessly killing the Dredge you should try talking to them, and you’ll see they are really not all that bad.

I guess I’m luckier than most, as my access was restored after only 40 hours.
However, while my ticket was still open I noticed that my account status changed from ‘banned for botting’ to suspended and said my account was compromised. I did not detect any evidence that my account was compromised – no missing items, characters in the same place, etc. In fact I was playing when the ban initially took effect.
My account actually was hacked before, which is why this worries me, and since then I have taken precautions to prevent it from happening again. Originally I had a weak password, then went on vacation a week after headstart, and came back to a suspended account that had been emptied.
But it has me worried that it could have happened again though. So I’m wondering if ANet made a mistake and tried to cover it up lol. Mistakes happen, that’s fine but I wish they would have just told me so I don’t have to worry. However, if they did not make a mistake and detected a compromise before I lost anything, that’s amazingly awesome.

I was banned by mistake as well
At least the weather will be nice this weekend..
d’oh!
thanks
Has the recipe changed, or is this no longer possible to make mad king chests in the mystic forge?
I’ve read the recipe is 6 mystery tonics, a candy corn, and two boosters of any kind. But only the XP booster is showing up in the mystic forge window, so it’s not allowing me to put other boosters that I have in my inventory into the forge (such as speed booster, rejuvenation booster, karma booster, etc).
Thanks
I’ve found a few that do actually open. Perhaps the one’s you’ve found are bugs or just not implemented yet. I’d report them I guess.
Thanks for the input folks, and thanks for the invite Glitch. I’m on henge of denravi, my brother and his friend are on the server so I’m not all by my lonesome. And maybe 10-20% of the people will talk and are very nice when spoken to, but most ignore it seems. We’ll maybe look into another server even though I like the high population here, thanks again.
I had my account hacked about a month ago. Since then, while talking to random people I come across it seems like they often ignore me completely. They don’t seem to be bots. I’m wondering if my account was used for spam, and consequently many people put me on ignore? I also tried whisper to test this, but did not get a message indicating I was on ignore. Is there a way to tell?
Is it possible to make a separate hotkey for looting only, rather than using the generic interact hotkey to loot?
During events and story mode, it seems like NPC dialogs are always popping up when I’m actually trying to loot something. Move it buddy, I just want to grab this money!
To make matters works, the interact hotkey does not close the NPC dialog. Sorry to complain, but for some reason I find this issue really annoying, especially when there are mobs around.
Please let me know if I’ve overlooked something, and thanks in advance.
