If you are gonna have any zerker stats gear – you should have it on your weapon, due to the fact that the ratio between crit dmg % and other stats is higher on the weapon.
If you dont wanna re-skin the GS you have, run CoF until you get 390 Flame Legion Charr Carvings, buy another GS with Zerker stats and re-skin that one
I am personally running 6/6 Knights with Zerker GS / Soldier S/S and Zerk/Valk stats on my ascendent gear… I found this to be the best setup vs Zerker D/D Thief, and my sole purpose in life is to kill those kittens!
The gear you pick is really based on you playstyle, so go to the “find your build” thread and see if you can find a build that you like (or something close to what you already have) and check out the recommended gear for that build.
Hopefully this answers your Q! =)
If you are running 6/6 knight armor and zerker GS and looking to maximize your crit damage then sad to say you are doing it all wrong.
Here is a quick look at how much crit damage each stat point is worth for each piece (credits to Strife025 from guru)
5 stat points – upgrade slot of trinkets and backpack
7 points – Ascended Back Piece
8.5 stat points – Ascended Rings
8.7 stat points – Ascended Earrings
9.4 stat points – Ascended Amulet
10 stat points- traits (not an equipment, but listed for comparison)
12 stat points – glove, shoulder and boots
12.8 stat points – 1H weapons and amulet
13.33 stat points – Earring
14 stat points – Backpack (rare version from guild armorsmith)
14.22 stat points – 2H weapons
14.4 stat points – Coat
16 stat points – Ring, helm and leggingAs you can see 2H weapons like the GS have rather terrible crit damage ratios.
Mind sending me a link to the site on guru showing the stat ratios? Had a look, but couldnt find it …
Also wanna point out that i am running valk / zerker stats on ascendent – so the only improvement I might get is swapping out the GS zerker stats with the valk gloves, shoulder and boots.
Even so Ty for the heads up!

“If you are gonna have any zerker stats gear – you should have it on your weapon, due to the fact that the ratio between crit dmg % and other stats is higher on the weapon.”
I wanted to ask you about this. I looked at the ratio of stats on Knights vs Berserker on Greatsword vs Coat. Knight/GS is 179 Tough 128 Pow 128 Prec, Knight/Coat is 101/72/72. That’s 56% of each stat, on the coat. The ratios on Berserkers are GS: 179/128/9%, Coat: 101/5%/72. In each case the coat has 56% of the stats of the 2-h weapon’s stats. Is there something I’m missing?
Sorry for the non-detailed description. Let me clarify: I put my “Defensive” stat on Clothes and Leggings because both of them give less Crit damage (which usually is the main focus if you consider using zerker stats) – The overall ratio between the different stats on gear is the same no matter what, just like you showed us.
My argument is like this:
GS Berserker And Knights Coat + Leggings =
(9% CD + 128 PR + 179 PO) + (72 PR + 72 PO + 101 TH) + (67 TH +48 PR +48 PO) =
9% CD + 248 PR + 299 PO + 168 TH
vs
GS Soldier And Berserker Coat + Leggings =
(128 PR + 128 PO +179TH) + (5% CD +72 PR +101 PO) + (3% CD +48 PR +67 PO) =
8% CD + 248 PR + 296 PO + 179 TH
With zerker GS you get:
+1% crit dmg + 3PO and – 11 TH
Imo the +1 crit dmg is worth more then the + 11 TH…
@ Esplen.3940 – I never claimed my way was the best way, nor that you couldnt kill thief’s with full zerker, but I tried to give my personal preference to OP to help him out. I went full zerker on my mesmer the first time around and loved the high dmg numbers. Still I found myself getting killed a bit too much for my liking. As i stated gear should be based on your play style and personal preferences… If you dominated the WvW scene with your full zerker Mesmer I am happy for you!=)

Thanks for great response guys! TBH I run a 50/50 shooter – shatter build! The condition is “just there”! =P… though really handy in WvW and dungeon runs!
The Master of Misdirection seems right up my ally, and think Ill start off with that! As I get more comfortable with my mesmer game – my timing on the shatter gets better and that traitline pick kinda forces me to use shatters even more thoughtfully.
Quick Q to you Nevhie: What stats do you like on you 1H swords? Up to now i have been going for Power – Crit – Condi but were thinking about changing it into more survivability? Power – though – vita?
So I finally hit lvl 80 and got my exotic gear etc etc.. but I cant decide where to put my last 10 trait points. I love the build I am running (Much like the MSS build by Nevhie – with my own twist) but would really appreciate some feedback on how to best finish it up!
Current build:
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mVmz0mczMMaLrmMMmwmGGa0azamacc08070V7kGf70V7ow570m
My initial thought was:
1) – 10 points in Illusions and then pick up (X) – Phantasms recharge 20% faster
2) – 10 points in Dueling and pick up (II) – Phantasm fury
3) – 10 points in Inspiration and pick up (V) Persisting Images
Thank you for your feedback in advance! HF playing!
So rune of the eagle is not worth the 4.75 GOLD!!!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAT!?!? Gonna check out Ruby and Beryl for now anyways though! Thanks for the help my fellow mesmers.
After rolling – and re-rolling EVERY class several times (couldn’t decide) I’ve been focusing on my Mesmer, and hit lvl 60 (currently lvl 64). Up until now runes haven’t been that big of a concern to me, just buying whatever I felt like using, but Superior runes is a whole other story…
At BLTP the superior runes I want for my Mesmer are like 1 – 3 gold (pr piece), and because i only play for the fun (soft core all the way) – I dont have enough gold to try out every rune before making my decision! I know there are alot of threads concerning this matter, but after several attempts of browsing the forums/wiki/reddit im still nowhere close to making my decision.
Therefor I would deeply appreciate feedback from you guys helping me to choose runes!
I really like seeing high crit-numbers pop up on the screen (don´t we all?) so I have been considering:
(Opt 1)
Superior Rune of the Ranger
+25 Precision +3% Critical damage +50 Precision +5% Critical damage +90 Precision
The last runeslot i´ll put on a:
Superior Rune of Divinity
+10 to all stats and 2% increased critical damage.
(Opt 2)
Superior Rune of the Eagle
+25 Precision +3% Critical damage +50 Precision +5% Critical damage +90 Precision
+5% vs targets with less than 50% health.
Is this viable? If not what type of superior runes are?
Thank you in advance – and have fun playing!
