So if I have a Sigil of Superior Smoldering on my offhand and my main-hand, do I get +20% burning duration?

Discussion on Guardians Survivability.

In PvP I’m noticing more and more that as a Guardian I don’t do much of anything well. I don’t tank well, I don’t deal damage well, I don’t heal well, I don’t support well.

I do all of those things to decency – Jack of all Trades, Master of Nothing status – but in sPvP when you sometimes have to break off from the pack to handle an objective, one-on-one fights are generally not in my favor, and I consider myself a decent player in terms of reactions, reading, positioning, etc. If I do end up winning, it’s by a close margin, and the fights take so long that my opponents usually have backup before I can kill them.

Not necessarily a complaint about Guardian survivability specifically, but just that the class seems to not really specialize in anything, which is actually harmful as a class.

Is it too late to add to my GW1 Hall of Monuments?

If I add to my GW1 Hall of Monuments (because I’m sure I still have a bunch of minis I haven’t claimed in GW1), will I get the appropriate rewards in GW2?

What is the purpose of PvP Steady equipment?

I noticed that the vendors in Heart of the Mists have PvP Steady Equipment for no cost.

What is the purpose or use of this equipment? I assumed that maybe it would scale with level but I’m not at home so I can’t test.

Guardian Shouts make no sound to nearby players?

I’m thinking this would be helpful to know, since being able to audibly hear a Guardian’s shout would help signal you to know when certain things were happening to you, and to adjust your play accordingly.

How exactly does "Secret in the Swamp" trigger?

I am almost positive the event is on a timer, although a lot of people do claim that closing the portals triggers the event. I have seen and participated in the event twice – it is well worth the wait!

BUG: Mobs and players suddenly "appearing" (pop-in)

I have also noticed you can always replicate this issue in the ’defend the bridge from centaurs" event in Kessex Hills.

This bug is particularly annoying and sometimes downright dangerous to my character’s health.

This is actually where I noticed the bug. I never saw it anywhere else, but since that was what I was doing for the last portion of my play-time yesterday I didn’t realize or consider it might be specific to that area.

Guardian Shouts make no sound to nearby players?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Better, yet, has anyone (who doesn’t play a Guardian) ever heard the shouts “Hold the Line!”, “Retreat!”, “Stand Your Ground!” or “Save Yourselves!” from another player?

Guardian spell bugs

- Orb of Light sometimes never despawn which means you have to explode it and have the longer cooldown.

- Sanctuary sometimes doesn’t work on some people, enabling them to shoot and walk through it.

- Renewed Focus sometimes doesn’t make you invunerable. Most often I die to conditions while it is up, I assume you’re supposed to be invunerable to them as well.

Renewed Focus only makes you invulnerable while you’re channeling it. Not sure about the others though.

Guardian Shouts make no sound to nearby players?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

SnakeAes.5328

I noticed this while playing side-by-side with a friend yesterday, whenever I used a Guardian Shout, no matter how close I was to my friend in vicinity he would never get audio of the shout. He and I both had no problem hearing Warrior shouts but whenever I used a Guardian Shout (I tried “Save Yourselves” and “Stand Your Ground”), I would hear the Shout but he never would.

We tried both in and out of combat, as well as with no players or NPCs around that could possibly cover the sound.

I would think that as a shout, at least the party members affected by the shout should hear it. Is this a bug or are Guardian shouts simply not meant to be heard?

Is Animation cancelling considered a bug/exploit?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: SnakeAes.5328

SnakeAes.5328

The problem with doing that means that the animation wont match up with the damage. I hope this ability or animation gets changed completely for two reasons:

1. Having to using a clunky mechanic like this to get optimal DPS is difficult and un-intuitive to players.

2. Having an awfully long animation where the player sits there idly while an enemy beats on them because they are “recovering” from their attack is anti-fun.

If all classes can do something to this effect I say they leave it in. Animation cancelling is key to high level play in many other skill-based competitive games, where mastery of the mechanics is important.

BUT if not all classes / weapons can animation cancel then yeah, it should probably be taken out. Or added in.

Careful, you lose your minis.

…unless you keep your minis in an Invisible Bag, in which case they are ignored by the “deposit all collectibles” function.

There’s a Deposit All Collectibles function???

Is there a drop-chance nerf after a certain kill count?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: SnakeAes.5328

SnakeAes.5328

Some guild mates and i noticed while farming Cursed Shore defending events, that after about 4 of those events our item drops go to a very very low amount.

So my question is:

Anybody else noticed their droprate going down over time?

I know that this was a mechanic in the original Guild Wars – if you farmed an area for too long the game would intentionally give you diminishing returns on your drop rate, but it would always notify you when that occurred with a hint window.

I haven’t seen, experienced, or heard of anything regarding whether the drop-rate is affected in GW2 though.

How have you build your guardian?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: SnakeAes.5328

SnakeAes.5328

Quick question for Guardians who have already started to PvP (structured PvP, not WvW). I am still about level 20 so I don’t want to try PvP yet, but I am curious.

Do any Guardians have success with Hammers in PvP? I feel like the last hit of the auto attack (the one that creates Symbol of Protection) takes so long to start up that any player with half a brain would know to get out of the way. In PvE it’s fine for the most part, but I feel like in PvP there’s no way an attack with that much startup time is ever going to hit.

Gort's Chest Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: SnakeAes.5328

SnakeAes.5328

I just experienced this problem last night. I was playing with several friends (one of whom I was literally sitting next to while playing), and the player I was sitting next to left the area when Gort went to reveal the chest. He was the only player who was able to loot it; all of us who stuck around waiting for Gort to reveal it were unable, but when my friend came back because we told him about the chest, it was sealed for him and he looted it without issue.

Not sure if that is the case for everyone, just wanted to point it out.
