I appreciate them taking the time to come out and talk about communication. But here’s the thing, I shouldn’t have to appreciate it. Simple communication that doesn’t completely put a company at risk every time they say anything is a basic skill of any professional company. I don’t want this post to receive an infraction, so I will only say that there is a company, who for a very long time now, has given their players very little of what the majority have asked for, have given them zero explanation for why they have seemingly disregarded those asked for things, and have now, come out and say “when we’re not working one on thing, it’s because we’re working on something even bigger”. I would ask why the company has only said this, and not given any specific reason for their avoidance of doing what they majority have asked for, but I’m just an active player, so that’s none of my business.

why didnt you post this in the thread? Not enough attention that way/

If arena-net added easy farming options I wouldnt care.

I just personally inherently disagree with abusing event mechanics to get easy loot.

idgaf how fast you get money. I just expect events to work as intended, and for the players to respect their intended function.

Hey Mike, my signature is just for you

About your post… you didnt even fulfill the initial promise about GW2 how could we even believe a second you “work on the things that we think will most delight and entertain you”
Seriously ? what about gvg, news skills, REAL mcm FIX…etc
instead what you do ? 300gold color tag ? inproove the damage log ( way more important than ALLLLL the fix / balanced needed in that game ) a living story 2 that no one care about because everyone want REAL content..

yeah i see that you work on stuff that will no doubt NOT entertain us.

Anyway. Good Luck with your game

Just gonna ignore the warrior nerf then I guess?

You should be forced to main a mesmer for a couple of years, or a necro, or even a ranger, before you have the right to complain about a nerf to warriors.

I main a thief.

I wasnt complaining about the warrior nerf.

Dude just said they arent balancing anything, when theres a giant list of class changes in the patch notes.

When something in the game (such as this event) changes negatively as this has, we need to step in and remediate the toxicity. The byproduct of this change happens to be that a champion farm is being slowed, but since that was the originating factor for the toxicity, it’s unavoidable.

The originating factor for the toxicity is lack of reward throughout the game. That’s why players gravitate so aggressively to things such as this. When a pack of half-starved people come across a scrap, civility is not amongst their strongest attributes. Do we hold accountable the scrap or the fact that they desperate?

The originating factor for toxicity is that lots of people on the internet are jerks.

Lets not pretend toxicity isnt rampant in every game community in existence.

I think for 2 years of playing, they should give you an item that launches a precursor crafting scavenger hunt.

agreed – it wouldn’t kill them to even give you an account bound precursor of your choice, either. They could make it an account bound ticket to exchange and whatever you pick becomes instantly soulbound. Of course the precursor market wouldn’t appreciate it…

my god.

Yes give everyone a free item worth 400 gold.

Hi All,

There have been a number of questions about when the CDI will spin up again.

The answer is shortly after our next Feature Pack is released.

Looking forward to collaborating with you all and having some awesome discussions.

Chris

Yay! Excited to spend my work days talking with you again! hehe

Really excited to get back into it again and connect with some old and new faces (-:

Chris

Yet again no comment on why no one mentions the ANET threads like Mega server and Traits threads… Does Anet have tunnel vision that kicks in when ever anyone mentions them ?

Both threads have been mentioned multiple times in here and again over looked.

Thanks for replying Chris, so CDI’s starting again, is that so y’all can claim you working with players and again ignore any feedback ?

Threads created in April BY ANET for feedback on The LAST Feature pack still lay empty and a new feature pack on the horizon……… would it not be better to look / comment on the last feature pack before steam-rolling ahead with next one ?

the traits thread has a dev response logo next to it…

I guess you arent communicating unless you say what people want to hear.

I belive the OP is confused. In experience with the game up to this point, I have never grind for a thing. I have multiple sets of ascended armor and weapons.

If your grinding for anything in this game, it is because you choose to. If you simply play the game, you will organically collect all of the items to create what you need or the gold to buy it. If your grinding, it is simply your choice, because you Want it sooner.

OP wants legendaries, because in loot kitten mmos like World of Warcraft, you arent cool if you dont have legendaries.

Thats where the core problem lies.

More like their incessant desire to not address real issues and only ones that affect their checkbooks. The game has so much wrong with it especially a super inflated market and messed up loot system. But instead of fixing or even a dressing tho issues they make a bee line for one that could make them lose money. I for one am not supportive of that and im willing to bet a lot of other ppl aren’t either

Why are you still implying that the only way to get gold is to buy gems?

That isn’t true. You are just not willing to actually play the game you are supposedly playing.

And don’t dodge by saying that there isnt fun stuff to do or that the endgame is boring.

If that is the issue then the answer is for you to take a break because you don’t enjoy the game.

The answer to players being bored is not to allow them to cheat in order to get items faster.

But that logic, dungeons are boring so they should let people dupe legendaries and call it a day.

thanks, I mean it I REALLY do!

What I would ask is…is stuff like hammer bugging out and disappearing from Cliffside fractals something working as intended? Because in all the time this bug has existed, I never read around any mention about it being worked on.
A silly bugged event which gives people who like to farm, the “thrill” to see those boxes from which they will get 99% trash, gets an answer about rework/fix almost immediately. Is it really that whatever farm more disturbing and annoying/toxic/whatsoever than losing the progress of 2 previous fractals, half way in the third, forcing you to start all over?
I never did that farm, I’m not into that kind of things, I run high lvl FotM and lately it happened 2/3 times that when Cliff is third Fractals, in a way or another, hammer disappers forever…and this to my eyes should be something to take priority.

You realize extending this cooldown is a lot more simple than fixing a bug right?

This change is completely controlled by Arenanet, whereas bug fixes require actually solving the issue that is causing the bug.

People on this forum act like Arenanet can say “Ok now we can fix this bug, devote x amount of hours and its fixed.”

Actually fixing the bug is a process that may or may not take long periods of time.

Remediate the toxicity. I’d like to think that meant banning the trolls, ya know, the people who stand in the circle with 5 of their friends spamming insults and worse. The same people who spam map chat with tinypic links to god know what. The people who emote spam map chat with hot key programs that flood the chat like a river.

I guess it’s time to start cutting off the arms of people who need only a finger or two amputated. Or better yet, let’s just put a bullet in the head of any person about to undergo the knife? I mean it’s all about getting rid of the toxicity right? Let’s not ban the people who were responsible for getting everyone upset. Let’s not step up the punishment for people who cause the toxicity. Let’s not try to fix the root cause of the problem, which isn’t blix or the farm or any farm, but the people who take a massive dump in everyone’s face because they think it’s funny.

This isn’t just an isolated incident either. QD train, Frostgorge train, blix and countless others. The trains run fine until people come along to derail it, only then is when Anet decides to do something.

And not doing anything about that problem only makes it worse. Trolling should be one of the most important things to look for in a video game and should carry one of the highest punishments. This wasn’t about play styles, this was about people being jerks and hiding behind the veil of “this isn’t how the game was meant to be played.” Let’s take a look back at how many people wanted the event to succeed for the loot vs the people who wanted it to succeed because it was funny to see people get ticked off about it.

To defend your exploiting, you divert the attention to other people who are commiting wrongs in chat.

They should be dealt with, but so should the exploit.

Two wrongs dont make a right.

This whole post screams that you think if you cant exploit for easy gold, then the people who reported the exploit should also be punished.

It has nothing to do me or anyone else doing the exploit. It’s about people who cause disruption in the game that causes the community to become toxic, the trolls. If you bothered to read what I posted, you’d see that. But you assumed that I’m defending the exploit when I’m not even talking about it directly, but the people who cause the problems for others because they think it’s funny.

No this thread is about this exploit being fixed by the devs next patch.

It is not about whatever anger you have regarding some of the people who offended you.

Try and remember their named and report them directly to the GMs in game. Don’t try and shame them on an unrelated forum thread.

Seriously this is the 6th mmo ive played where people expected the developers to communicate with the playerbase.

Nobody does that.

It’s not just Arenanet. I mean, I’m not defending them for it.

But SWTOR, TESO, WoW, FFXIV…

None of these games have people on the forums actually explaining things or discussing stuff with people.

I’ve played those MMO’s but only one ‘WoW’ I ever played or cared long enough to visit the forums over. It took forever to get a blue post from those guys. Anet are far more vocal, but people want more, and more, and more. And that was a $15/month sub game where at times it took almost a year before any new content was released. pft bloody useless bunch.

Its almost like we expect some kind of report after Anets weekly progress/design meetings.

Although I do believe though that they should talk about upcoming features just so we know what to expect. Its normally a good way to big hype and keep people interested in the game. I little “stay tuned this coming soon!” helps. That’s just basic marketing 101.

The problem is people want this game to have expansions, and Arenanet dont.

Hence why everyone is raging and trying to disguise it as “being upset about lack of communication”.

Without Guild Wars 2: The Rise of Cantha people can’t feel secure that the game wont go down tomorrow.

People should just relax and enjoy the game while they can.

I dont’ think it is all that bad to keep pumping out new legendary or new content.

Obviously that is not the original gw2 design.

That being said, I think the main reason people complain is legendary is “so much” harder to get now compare to “when the game is released”.

Inflation happens.

Blaming the Devs because the player driven economy is weak is dumb.

People need to just accept that Legendaries arent given like welfare and move on.

Then, someday when they get said Legendary, they will feel proud for working to acheive it, instead of crying because they dont have anything to work for.

Better be careful with this fixes. Anet continuosly nerf drop, nerf rewards, nerf loot… We are earning every day less money/drops than the previous and the prices continue to rise.
1g = 5 gems (WTF, a year ago 1g = 100 gems)
But this is the gemstore, i can stand it
62s = 1 powerful vial of blood (5 months ago 28s = 1 powerful vial of blood)
1300g Spark (march 2014 525g = spark. April 2014 715g = spark)

The prices are rising of more than 100% and the loot and rewards are getting worse and worse.
The ridicolous thing is that fail events and repeat them is more rewarding that succed in them.

agree….most events simply aren’t worth doing from a gold-time efficiency standpoint.
outside of a large group doing dwayna and melandru chains, or small group doing the Frostgorge champ train, there aren’t really any events more rewarding than just killing mobs and mining nodes.

events really shouldn’t be more rewarding to fail than win….i’m just not sure how to fix this outside of more high-level “defend an area events” that spawn champs and/or tons of loot-dropping mobs. that way, increasing the respawn of failing events doesn’t kill the farmer….they just move on to the next “rewarding” event.

What are we? Efficiency experts or heroes?

once you do an event a few times, the fun/novelty wares out…even with very fun events with different mechanics, you eventually learn them.

so once its no longer fun/challenging, why play the event?……profit….which is how we earn the only end-game rewards (aesthetics).

If you are so bored that you have to exploit, its time to take a break.

Cutting corners will only tire you out faster, and we’d rather not suffer for your laziness and boredom.

Yes, I see you don’t cut corners with handing out name calling and vitriol. Good on ya.

I don’t see a problem with calling exploiters what they are.

The fact that an exploit is being removed, and the dev is going out of his way to be fair to the exploiters and explain that he understands their goals and wishes, is really meaningful to me.

And despite that, everyone in just spitting in his face and accusing him of trying to steal their money.

Don’t buy gems. Geez.

This is a terrible answer and I dont buy it. If they had just come out and said this was an unintended mistake I dont think anyone would have a problem. We know y they really fixed it b.c. it was a way to make lots of gold without buying gems. The market in this game is so messed up and by doing this they have shown that they do not care about the community or fixing the real issues. I completely agree that they r pushing ppl to buy gems to play the game. And I think we, the gw2 players need to show them we do not support the way they handling the game

The best way to do that is to continue not buying gems.

I encourage players to remember that not everyone has the same goals when they play, and sometimes they will clash.

I agree that the change was needed from the toxicity angle. Just as it was needed for the Queensdale champ train.

But perhaps could have a wider discussion on game design and rewards. There’s a reason people want to farm these things: it’s because the rewards for most game activities are really weak, or at least feel really weak.

There’s little point slogging through the harder dungeon paths or high level fractals when you come out with blues, greens, and maybe a rare. There’s not much point doing most of the events when all you get is a couple hundred karma points. I don’t feel like doing those things advances my character, or gets me closer to any goals I have.

A discussion. Lol. Guess he should call you on Skype and let you know what happened in todays board meeting.

BTW, the problem is that your goals are unrealistic for the game that Arenanet is trying to provide.

People want Legendaries. See my post in the other thread.

If everyone has legendaries, then legendaries become exotics, and we need a new tier. Thats vertical progression.

Legendaries are legendary because there arent many of them in the game.

When you start giving away legendaries as drops all the time, you get a game like WoW.

Everyone has legendaries in wow, so guess how they keep people grinding?

By making new legendaries, and new factions to grind for.

And more legendaries. And MORE legendaries. AND MORE GRINDING.

Just try and understand that not everyone in GW2 is supposed to have a Legendary greatsword.

Thats how rarity works.

If everyone IRL had a lamborghini, they wouldnt be cool cars anymore.

It’s not just Arenanet. I mean, I’m not defending them for it.

But SWTOR, TESO, WoW, FFXIV…

None of these games have people on the forums actually explaining things or discussing stuff with people.

Want to know why?

Because official forums are filled with the vocal negative minority and there is no freaking point in talking to these people.

If he says stuff is coming, its a lie.

If he doesn’t, Arenanet doesnt care.

If they say they care, its a lie.

There’s no point “discussing” the future of the game with a giant forum full of people who secretly want it to fail just so they can say I told you so.

Every one of those you mentioned (minus WoW) are literally dead. Want an good example, look at Bungie and Destiny…

When i do post here it’s because i’m passionate about the game, when i stop posting, when i stop caring, or people like me, then you can shut the doors. I’ve seen it in so many games, it’s not even funny. Look at reddit, it’s mostly logical, stable posters, and as of late it’s been a lot of well explained outrage.

BTW, no one says he’s lying (least i’m not), we are all trying to hold ANet to a standard they set themselves. Not some we hate ANet and the game mentality.

I’ll whiteknight defend anet, i have no problems when i think they are making headway, when they say they are improving their communication and actually do. But as of late, i’m ready to say forget it.

SWTOR is currently in the top 5 most lucrative free to play games in the world and has 700 thousand active players.

So… I guess you just don’t know how to google or something.

BTW, First off Destiny isnt even an MMO. Its a co-op shooter with dynamic shooters.

Second, it will be dead within months, just like every other game on console that isn’t call of duty or borderlands.

IDK if you have justified it in your head, but the simple fact is that nobody in the grand scheme of things cares what standard you hold Arenanet to. They dont need your money. They don’t care for criticism apparently.

Idk why people think insulting them on their thread where they express a desire to reach out will help.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars here. They don’t need my money, BS. It’s not insulting, it’s fact, they focused on releasing for China and NA/EU felt left out. Get some perspective man. I’ve yet to read anyone asking for the world, or even details of stuff they are working on, but give us a plan to make an educated decisions. If you aren’t going to work on communication, stop saying you are, period. If they don’t care about my criticism, then i bet there are 100’s of in line people that spent big bucks on the gem store or helped to build and promote this game that want some improvements.

Re: SWTOR I work for EA, but thanks for that. Glad you like Google.

Destiny is actually an MMO, with an entirely new way to incorp players. It’s an amazing way to bring FPS to the genre, Moreso than BL, but not in a better way, just a different one. Have you played it? While it’s not in direct competition, it’s still going to pull players away from this game (me at least) and it does raise the bar of communication ANet used to be able to deliver.

I’m not the only one that holds ANet to that standard, there are plenty of people that played GW since beta. They know ANet and how they communicated in the past, while not stellar, much better than other games of the time. We can expect that of them now.

You:

1.) Have spend thousands of dollars on GW2

2.) Work for EA

3.) Are currently repping the hell out of an Activision Co-op shooter for Consoles.

I dont even know where to start.

Also, if you claim to be leaving for Destiny, why are you here raging about inconsequential issues?

Just to rage at Arenanet for not treating you well before you leave?

What the new tags will inevitably become...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SolviteSekai.9816

SolviteSekai.9816

This thread is incredible. Maybe I can explain further. Colors are in no way mandatory! The price change has literally nothing to do with the introduction of colors! Anet can’t win. lol. Currently, you pay 100g for commander’s tag and can use that tag for only one character. After patch, you pay 300 gold for a commander’s tag and get your choice of color, only now you can use that tag on any character you have, thus the reason why the price has increased. It’s the same thing that happened when they changed unlimited gathering tools from being soul bound to being account bound. There is no money barrier that didn’t already exist (gold is easier to obtain now, 300 gold is not out of reach of a casual player) and they are not trying to force anyone to trade gems for gold. There is no conspiracy!

Now I know that many antagonists here will simply disagree and continue to complain, but those are the facts.

Why would a casual player be a commander anyway?

I wanted to comment that ArenaNet has done spectacular communication in the past.
The name? Josh Foreman, the creator of everyone’s favorite release that we can no longer play.

///Also, from what I have read, he was actually reprimanded for being so active with the community and is now no longer able to post freely because of it. What’s with this?///

Sure, he may have said things that not everyone liked or agreed with, but this is because he is human. As a human and the designer of Super Adventure Box he could not please everyone. But he did listen greatly to feedback and show a passionate human side to the company that I and many players deeply appreciated.

If you want some pointers on how to have a great conversation with us, just go ask Josh. And please, for the love of Trahearne, get him his posting priveleges back.

Sounds legit.

But I am sick of doing the same old grind. After 2 year, I’m still farming AC, COF. After 2 year I’m still doing the same old mining/harvesting farm.

All those really grindy korean mmorpg at least give people new farm area or dungeon every few month. People will move to the new farm area because it give better gold/hour.

After 2 year, I’m still doing the same old grind in GW2 because the same old grind gives the best gold/hour. Even if Anet release new content, people will still do the same old farm.

They really dont give people new stuff to grind.

Aion is still the same forts after 4+ years and Tera is LITERALLY the same stuff as release I think.

There are really two sides to this, and when it comes down to it, you are both right – and you are both wrong. Both sides have the right to complete the task that they set out to do (completing or not completing).

Challenging another player’s play style is the issue here, and since this revolved around an event that was designed to be completed, it is being changed so that the original design of the event can be carried out.

When something in the game (such as this event) changes negatively as this has, we need to step in and remediate the toxicity. The byproduct of this change happens to be that a champion farm is being slowed, but since that was the originating factor for the toxicity, it’s unavoidable.

I encourage players to remember that not everyone has the same goals when they play, and sometimes they will clash.

While you are here, you should address the sweeping changes you have made moving the game toward a gold treadmill.

Why is everything being designed in such a way that it highly encourages buying gems and swapping them for gold?

Maybe if you answered that, less people would accuse you of kitten the Pay 2 Win stuff out to people.

Stop these DDOS already!

Considering they knocked down Diablo 3 and League of Legends, 2 of the most successful games in human history, I dont understand why GW2 players are being entitled here.

FWIW raging like this is keeping us as targets.

I don’t think anybody’s really asking for lots of details in advance at this point.. just an increased sense of where Arenanet’s head is at; opportunities to see how dev thought processes dovetail with the hot topics of the day.

In other words, we don’t need ’Here’s what’s coming next, guys..’ so much as ’We’re putting a lot of thought into how to design a precursor scavenger hunt. What’re you guys’s most favorite in-game activities? Oh, really? Cool, but we want to include more skill-based challenges as well as things that are farmable..’ .. and so on and so forth. Conversation. Or, "That’s not such a good idea; we got such poor response to SAB world 2 and we’ve got to figure out what went wrong there before we get back into it.’.. excellent example!

I think you guys do yourself a disservice by not seeking feedback in advance. It’s lead to a couple not-very-pleasant surprises for both developers and players – things that didn’t have to happen, but did because of a seeming lack of cross-fertilization.

The commander tag thing was an example of the system working pretty much as it ought to, horrible as it may be to say. I applaud your guys’s willingness to change, but it could be so much smoother.

But c’mon, seriously. Right now nobody on these forums has any idea what anybody in your company even thinks about several controversial topics – all of the april 15th threads are still open and unremarked upon, and here we are on another feature patch paranoid about the as-yet unrevealed things that might fill up the forum threads for the next five months.

Nobody out there gives that much feedback.

You can see whats coming in September update on GW2 twitter and the new living world story is in production.

What more do you want? A bedtime story?

Seriously this is the 6th mmo ive played where people expected the developers to communicate with the playerbase.

Nobody does that.

It’s not just Arenanet. I mean, I’m not defending them for it.

But SWTOR, TESO, WoW, FFXIV…

None of these games have people on the forums actually explaining things or discussing stuff with people.

A fix is currently being prepared for this issue.

While the behavior (design) of this event was acceptable in the past, changes in the game over time have created an environment around this event that has become increasingly toxic (for the community) due to unintended use/change of mechanics.

Players should not feel that they are in the wrong for completing an event (or event chain), and that is what is happening with this event. The respawn timer for this event will be significantly increased.

Why hasn’t this been hotfixed yet? What the hell? Why do you always take so long to do anything to this game?
Hide more programmers, rise paychecks, improve your motivational timebreaks, renew your marketing department or shave off their management power, resechedule, improve, modify your priority lists, relocate manpower away from the living story team, motive/hire better testers… whatever, anything.
In all honesty, leaving almost every change to a “feature” pack (by it being every 6 moths it doesn’t bring much) is the wrong approximation.

Doesnt help that theyve been fighting ddos attacks for 2 days.

And it turned out (most times, not every time) that the guys just didn’t know how the farm worked.

I’ll be glad to see it go personally.

Every run I’ve done has a few people giving direction, explaining how it works, and why it’s beneficial to let the event fail. It’s simple: 1. Stack on Blix, spawn champs through scaling. 2. Stay in tunnel, use reflects. 3. Keep elites alive, never let the circle go empty, focus champs. Kill mobs when they reach the group.

Pretty easy.

I’m sure you were also glad to see the other trains go, and every other means of earning gold aside from TP flipping, farming the same dungeons on repeat 2 years in, and the world boss circuit.

#BuyGems!

Tinfoil hat ftw, no I was sad to see the ember farm go (but I understood it needed to). It was way less toxic and about 5x more rewarding, it also changed the economy way more than blix farm. I was also bummed when they extended the timer for plinx/shelt/penit. Why don’t you start “TP flipping” since you seem to know much more about it than everyone else, haha.

Ha, oh I didn’t say I knew more about it. I’ve read “the guides” and followed market trackers, but I suck at flipping, plain and simple, because I am terrible at identifying niche markets, I don’t like risking a ton of gold, and I am not fond of my gameplay consisting of sitting at the TP in LA while alt-tabbing to GW2Spidy. Most of my gold was gained through speculation, but alas, that tapers off between major updates. I enjoy farms because I like running with groups of people, and I’m a bit burnt out on everything else (dungeons, WvW, EOTM – fractals lack payoff). I mean, I don’t want a legendary, I have a comfortable amount of gold, and I don’t want any other items in game (my mains have their ascended sets).. so other than not logging in (which has been my MO lately) silly little farms like this give me something to do, and I get to joke around and have a good time with other players.

Also, it would be tinfoil if I accused some grand conspiracy, or some theorized but ill supported claim. Not, by identifying the major means of earning gold in game. I come from r/asoiaf, my Reynold’s Wrap is strong.

If the game is no longer fun for you, try something else for a bit.

This game has no subscription.

Don’t support crappy farming mechanics just so you can get things the easy way before you inevitably leave anyway.

You should give some thought to whether or not you need to stop having so many alts or pick one alt as your ‘main’ and use it to grind the gold you need for exotics. Most of the content in this game was around when ascended didn’t exist

You also didn’t say what you’ve been farming and for how long

I think people need to realize that a sword that shoots fire everywhere isnt a necessity.

It is a privilege.

Either for people with cold hard cash, or people with lots of time.

This isnt WoW where the guy with the flaming sword will one shot you. He just looks cooler than you.

And considering he put in 1000 hours farming, he should.

Also anyone who spends the 300 dollars it costs to outright buy a legendary with gems should get that legendary.

Not only because they supported the game, but because they likely have nothing else worth having in their life.

Don’t worry Mike, we hear you loud and clear already. Every week when we see more gem store items being churned out from the ArenaNet HQ instead of the bug fixes and improvements to the game that we have desperately been asking for since release.

Are you just ignoring the fact that there is an established release date for the 2014 September update or what?

I cant believe nobody has suggested adding raids yet.

Is this just a “I wish this was WoW and I could google which boss drops my sword” thread?

100% drop or not? If 100% then what’s the point as everyone would have the item(s) within a week. If not 100% then it would fall under as a grind based in people’s definition.

You just explained why every WoW clone MMO ever has more or less failed commercially.

Farming keeps people playing the game.

Easy drop rates don’t.

Also to anyone who calls this game grindy.

LOL

I suggest some of you go play any of NCsofts other games besides Wildstar.

Aion laughs at what you call grinding.

No actually people did this same stuff in FFXIV.

Square Enix fixed the event, everyone cried for a week and then moved on.

No subscribers were lost. In fact FFXIV is doing great.

This giant rant thread is filled with:

1. But theres other exploits so its ok!

2. We didnt do anything wrong! Its the other peoples fault!

3. I’m poor why can’t I get easy money?

4. Someone got cool stuff in the gem store! Why cant I afford gems?

And so on.

I dont care what other exploits there are.

This is an exploit. Stop trying to justify your behavior and work for your rewards like an honest player.

What is dishonest about it? There are two outcomes, one rewards better than the other. So players are choosing the one with greater reward. Which is a very sound and logical decision. No one is hiding or denying it. In fact, players are welcoming and inviting others to join in and share in the rewards. There is no dishonesty there.

Lol. And yet here you have 6 pages of people whining and begging Arenanet to leave the exploit in because its “too hard” to get gold without it.

Tough Luck guys. Guess youll have to play the game.

Played MMO’s for 10 years now (FFXI, WoW, Rift, LotRo, SWOR, FFXIV) never dealt with DDoS attacks until GW2, So not sure what other MMO’s are doing for prevention, but they have at one point been larger player base, and all have/had subs.

Last night Diablo 3, League of Legends and Runescape were all DDOSed by these same people.

I guess Riot and Blizzard are also too poor to “protect their servers”.

Some concerns as a new player: Summer Sale

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SolviteSekai.9816

I’d like to preface this post by admitting that I, Solvite, am a noob.

Idk how the game works completely, and I don’t claim to. I’m here for fun like everyone else, and not to be the smartest, wisest, or coolest guy around.

Now getting to me concerns.

1.) Playerbase:

I am to understand that this game employs a megaserver. However, other than at peak US times I see virtually no one. Considering this game is supposedly an MMO front runner, where the heck are all the people?

I am on a tier 3 server, so its not that my server is low pop, and I havent been having trouble completing content, but considering I expected to not have to worry at all about numbers, this is rather concerning.

2.) WvW changes: I’ve seen quite a bit of raging going on with the new WvW changes that are incoming.

A LOT of raging. Is that just standard MMO people hating change, or it a legitimate cause for concern?

3.) Lack of substantial future prospects:

Yes, I’ve read the thread about Arenanet not wanting to string people along, blah blah blah.

But I can’t help but be nervous. I’ve been on MMOs such as Age of Conan that went 9 months with nothing new. I’m pretty concerned.

I’d like to close by thanking anyone kind enough to explain the validity or lack thereof regarding my concerns.

I ask that people understand that I am confused and stressed, and not angry or unimpressed.

I merely wish to have a firm idea of how I should go forward with this game.

Thank you.
