It looks like I have to swap to another class for my guilds raid group. Necro has no utility that is helpful for the first boss and our DPS is not even close to what other classes can bring to the table. All we have is resilience with a hp pool and shroud. Sadly this does nothing to kill the boss faster or easier. I have no excuses to give my guild why they should allow me to play necro. It is quite sad when everyone else in the guild can play the classes they like while I’m forced to play classes I have no interest in to participate.
What have your experiences been.
I’d say it’s probably time to find a new guild…
Okay, so it’s not super legitimate, given the boss it was on, but this was with no Ferocity aside from the Berserker Greatsword and backpiece andCelestial amulet. Also, no food or utility consumable. All Ascended gear, though.
How high can others push it? I’m curious to see the world record. I was running without Soul Reaping and I think I had Bitter Chill instead of Spiteful Talisman on, so I know this isn’t even the highest I could have hit.
If i hit a rabbit for 500k will this make a hero?
Yes.
I’m in! Sounds like fun.
Honestly I’d say both are pretty equal. I’ve been running around HoT with both cavalier’s (100% crit chance reaper shroud build) and rabid and both have been equally effective although the cavalier’s power build was a bit more godly (and fun) for me.
I’m curious if anyone has tested (either actual or spreadsheet) the actual DPS loss from using Trailblazer’s gear vs Viper’s.
It seems to me that in a condi reaper build most of your damage comes from your conditions with only a small percentage coming from the direct damage of your skills and that using Trailblazer’s would be a HUGE survivability increase for a relatively small damage loss and I’m curious to know how much before I start crafting my gear.
I would highly recommend this build: https://youtu.be/cADpIZJ3H-M
Very good damage, amazing survivability, and no minions. Although to be honest, when soloing very difficult champions I switch out some of the Death line traits for the minion traits and use Rise! and Flesh Golem. The extra tankiness that Rise! adds is quite incredible.
Deathly Chill seems to be the winner in all cases.
For a Condi build you lose DPS by using Shroud 1, and Deathly Chill will be ticking whether you are in Shroud or not.
Really? Oh, I kept thinking Dhuumfire is a good source of condi damage…
It’s not. It never was.
Why AA in shroud when you can AA with Scepter?
According to my math, Reaper AA (with Dhuumfire) does more dps than scepter AA in a condition build…

This is my current build:

It’s a cavalier’s reaper build that takes advantage of Decimate Defenses and Death’s Perception to achieve 100% crit chance while in shroud and 76% crit normally. With the power and ferocity this allows for excellent damage while being a beastly tank.
Thank you! edit

I approve these changes. But only for my character when I’m playing Reaper and no one else.
Can someone please tell me the names of the exotic Viper’s trinkets? Also, where do get the recipes..?
So I spend the past day leveling up my tailoring skill with the intention of crafting a set of Viper’s armor, but after doing so I come to find out that it’s going to cost me between 10 and 15 gold per piece to do so, which is way out of my budget and seems really high for exotic gear.
A few questions…
First of all, is this correct? Am I missing something?
For those of you who have crafted a full Viper’s set, what was your total cost?
Do you foresee the price of materials (i.e. recipe costs, black diamond costs etc.) coming down any time soon as they become less “new and shiny”?
Thanks!
I’m going to go ahead and necromance this long dead thread to say that now that we have traits like Decimate Defenses and Death Perception; power, condition damage, toughness would be awesome traits to have for certain Necromancer builds.
Hahahahahaha.. That’s too funny
Nice video. What build are you using? Tools, Alch, Scrap?
This happened to me a couple times while doing TA the other night. I haven’t played in probably 6+ months and just figured dying removes consumable buffs now…
But then I died a couple times and the consumable buffs remained so I was left confused.
Check out this build:
I’ve been using it for the past couple weeks and really like it
Well no… Like I said in the OP, with both traits, using the one of the above listed skills, the actual recharge when the skill is used = the tooltip recharge; aka only 20% reduction.
Doing some tests with different mesmer traits I found out that the Illusionists Celerity trait is not stack with other recharge reducing skills (i.e. Duelist’s Discipline, Blade Training, Warden’s Feedback etc.)
This can be seen both in tooltips and in practice.
I know this doesn’t directly answer your question about condition damage (which I think has already been adequately answered). But if you really like FT….
You might want to check out this build: http://intothemists.com/guides/guide.php?id=257
It’s great fun and pretty effective with some solid team boon support.

That should answer your question.
Great, thanks.
So if you use cleansing burst then pick/blow it up immediately the field still sticks around for a few seconds after?
Forgive me if this has already been asked (I used the search tool but didn’t find a single topic with the term “cleansing burst”)
Anyway…
I was doing some testing yesterday with the water field of cleansing burst (trying to trigger the aoe heal with a blast finisher) but couldn’t get it to trigger…
It seems, at least visually, that there is a delay between the time you hit the skill and the time the burst is released. Is this the problem? If so, how long is the delay?
Also, how long does the water field from the burst last? (the tool-tip does not give that information)
Thank you!
I have sent my friend and guild mate 4 emails now with items (about 1+ gold worth) and he has not received any of them. I sent them by right clicking his name in the party window so I know it is not a spelling error.. This is really frustrating. Please help.
