I believe the contract states each night they do not take SoS and Mag garrison at least 5 times, each member will be fined 500 gold. 1000 for the commander.

Seriously though, this is pathetic. BG got one guild who once again, WAS COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED, and SoR throws a kitten-fit. I can’t count the number of times that SoR has said “we are in it for the fights, not for the points” then why does it matter who is winning or losing to you guys, get out there and freaking fight. It is even worse that you blame this one guild, despite the fact that the turnaround in points happened even before they came over.

Also, why do people feel the need to post the server status? WvW maps are limited no matter what in the first place. On top of that we also have one of the largest PvE communities along with TC, who is listed at very full just like SoR, despite not having anywhere close to the WvW numbers that SoR has. Unlike SoR though, TC actually still shows up to fight even though they don’t expect to win in points.

Funny you should say this when just a couple weeks ago BG wouldnt come out and fight JQ when JQ was stomping BG. Why should SoR come out?

Because its seasons? Or is SoR content with *potentially playing Kingmaker?

Its all about thinking in the long run here, since its a SEASON. Very beginning of the week JQ got focused hard because BG and SoR both knew that a JQ win this week would be disastrous for both of them. Mid week the 2v1s subsided a bit because JQ was a solid 10k behind while SoR and BG were super close. This last day BG’s focus shifted strongly to SoR because we wanted to try to secure our 1st place finish. JQ’s focus also shifted to SoR because (I would imagine), JQ views SoR as their biggest threat to the season title, and by forcing SoR to only get 1 point at the end of this week is highly advantageous, IN THE LONG RUN.

Its map tactics to a whole new level, just deal with it. Each server is acting in its best interest, it happens.

It only makes sense to 2v1 BG as JQ, its almost impossible to work with BG, the instance you go after SoR’s stuff they go after yours. At least SoR can take a hint, and will go after BG’s stuff when JQ attacks BG’s stuff.

BG seem to be stuck in perma, “LETS GO AFTER JQ” mode.

So even though it may be better for JQ to let BG have to the win, that isn’t possible while BG is intent on ruining any cooperation.

That said, I dont think JQ is totally down an out for this match, sure we’re behind, but its not a blow out yet. Their still is time for us to turn it around, but ya, time is running shorter and shorter.

BG have gone for SoR before.

As someone who usually hangs out on JQBL this week, ive seen plenty of 2v1’s. And they’re all been essentially “random” in who was who.

Our commanders on SoR pick a target, and then they go for that target and hope the 2v1 falls in our favor. For example, an SoR commander wants to flip North west tower because it’s t3 and he wants to make it paper. We’ll move up that way, wait for orange swords to be somewhere that isnt near us, and then rush up and hit it.

On the flipside, that same commander a few hours later will decide that “kitten bg, theyve had that keep too long, we’re hitting hills, lets go” and we hope that JQ hits something of BG’s at the same time.

We’re always prepared to back off and defend our own stuff if we can, and often times we have had to. Hell, even during certain fights, we’ve had to pull off and wrap around because a BG blob came at us from the backside.

A lot of the 2v1 situations are based not on overall score, but the defenses of the towers, and their ability to be captured. T3 towers still flip semi-easily, and flipping them destroys a large advantage of the enemy. T1 keeps are flipped as often as we can do it, because keeping the opponents stronghold un-waypointed is powerful. These strategies are used against both enemy servers constantly, regardless of borderlands.

You also have to consider the optimal strategies for all servers involved. Say SoR takes NW tower and starts to treb JQ garri. BG has a couple of options, they could head to bluebriar and try to take that. Or head north to NE tower and try to take that. Both are t3, both are spawn towers. The only difference is what the servers stand to lose if they go defend it. SoR would lose NW tower, a paper tower far out of their territory if they retreat to defend. JQ on the other hand would lose a keep, possibly a T3 keep, the one in the middle of their territory. It is thus less likely for JQ to come stop BG at that point in time. So BG goes to flip that NE tower, because it’s the smartest play for them.

It’s hilariously easy to engineer a 2v1 situation on an enemy borderlands, simply attack their garrison, and 9 times out of 10 the other server on the map will go flip something of theirs. It’s how the map is designed.

True, I understand map politics and all, but ive seen BG do some stupid things, especially in EB.

Like JQ are attacking SoR’s EB, JQ have full t3 towers, SoR have 2 paper towers, 1 of which is unwatched…. What to BG do? They go after our WC forcing us to pull out, and squash them, and then SoR go after their ogrewatch, while we take their paper anz.

Just an example, but its the style I have seen from BG and SoR this week.

Alright, usually I try not to get involved in server mudslinging, but being in EBG for 90% of my time this week I feel I’m obligated to respond.

If you are referring to the two paper towers on SoR’s side late Sunday night, those towers were paper because BG made BOTH of them paper, even QL on JQ’s side. We were trying to dictate pressure on SoR by making them most vulnerable. JQ even camped outside the QL wall that BG was trebbing from SMC and used some catapults of their own to get it down faster. Then, when BG went into QL through its trebbed-down wall, JQ backcapped SMC.

Now, we can be talking about two separate situations, but regardless, from BG’s perspective that night, it was JQ with the doing some “stupid things” in regards to map politics.

So, map politics and timezone-coverage politics aside, I’ve had a total blast fighting SoR and JQ this week, especially EBG tonight. Keep it comin!

I’ve certainly enjoyed MERC’s stay on BG…running with Tarkus/Ralikh/Fury during the summer when I just stayed up all night was a lot f fun, and listening to Crimson always made for a good laugh. Furthermore, I heavily respect the amount of effort and time they put into making BG’s Oceanic and SEA as strong as possible.

With that being said, I understand the rest of BG’s feelings of betrayal and anger. The transfer was a complete surprise to almost the entirety of BG, and the timing of the transfer is incredibly inopportune with seasons right around the corner. Additionally, the transfer was to JQ, which is obviously a serious T1 rival. Lastly, with JQ’s recent guild acquisitions, many on BG thought that the week JQ and BG fought during seasons was going to be truly epic. With MERC leaving BG suffers a near-crippling blow to Oceanic presence, and a greatly diminished SEA, while JQ makes those two zones incredibly strong. That JQ v BG week doesnt look so epic anymore.

Regardless, BG will stay strong, and our remaining Oceanic’s will have to be resilient and persevere. I will miss all my MERC friends and the late night raids, good luck on JQ, and sincerely hope we crush you come seasons. =)

I think our SEA sometime stay up to play with IRON. and we are happy they sometime can play early with us as well.

You and JQ did this to yourselves. The constant focusing of BG since we entered Tier 1 this last time has trained us into a lean mean fighting force.

If any person denies that this has been happening, they are not paying attention. The scores show the true story.

When we fight JQ with DB, we destroyed the weekly score. So far this week when we have fought SoR with DB we have been leading heavily.

BG was not this dominant when we entered the tier. Both server’s attempts to push us out has caused us to strengthen and adapt, this includes getting new guilds. Guilds are attracted to a server that doesn’t crumble under pressure. You provided the pressure.

For weeks we have endured it. Now you are reaping what you’ve sown by having to deal with the Beast gate you helped to create.

Good fun tonight! I spent most of my time guarding north camp and it’s yaks on BGBL in between panicked running to our swiss cheese Garrison and attempting to at least patch inner gates up. A couple times I was absolutely certain we would lose it. Total props to SoR and JQ for pulling out the stops and giving us some really good fights. Every time I saw a [Hel] tag coming towards north camp, for instance, a little part inside went ‘kitten. Well that’s 10s down the drain.’

JQ and SoR both fought tactically and smartly. As long as there’s 3 servers involved, there will be 2v1s: intentionally or not. It doesn’t really matter. Some times you can use it to your advantage. Some times they’re turned against you. There’s no sense complaining about it because two days from now it’ll change, so you might as well just figure out how to deal with it now and keep fighting.

Just to clarify here, KnT and a lot of friends held BG Bay for ~7 ticks with both JQ and SoR bearing down on them. We pulled out in the end cause after SoR wiped they were hitting Garry. So shoutout to SF and the Bay defenders!

Since when did you set the official NA – EU timezones? TW has been on for awhile and were mainly NA.

I wasn’t setting any “official” time zones, I was simply referring to what I thought was largely the most agreed upon start time of NA Prime. Obviously with summer getting into full swing now time zones absolutely merge, so your right the line is much more blurred. Its good that TW has been on for a while, but other guilds form up later in the day, which is all I am saying.

Also, the +400 ppt from SoR is largely remnants of their EU domination. It will most likely(hopefully) come down to earth when BG NA guilds can attain a foothold for the night. Unfortunately, JQ seems to be struggling at a sub 100 ppt.

People forget that yesterday July 1st was a Stat Holiday in Canada so EU time had some extra people. We’re going to see the same at the end of the week with July 4th holidays in the US. Unfortunately, the PPT you see now in EU time will be norm.

This is what happens when a server panics after getting destroyed by RG and finishing last after wining for weeks. [KISS], [SONG] and whomever else they recruited will make things difficult in EU time with their PVDooring now with full map zergs.

Keep fighting JQ and BG! Go after those camps and slap those yaks. Who knows, you might be able to divide up the SOR map blobs and come up with some surprising victories!
