i disagree with some of the things in that build.. the focus imo isn’t as good as the dagger because i’d lose a pretty good heal/cond removal and chill armour as well as a large portion of my damage the only ability i really see it being good for is the 4 second invulnerability and the projectile reflection /w cond removal but thats pretty ott with all the condition removal in that build anyway, i’d say armor of earth is needed in that build because you have no stability at all to stop yourself being knocked off the point of chain cc’d.
the teleport is pretty pointless as soon as your off the point it’s being uncapped, the runes are bad especially with next to no crit, I can’t get the energy on wep swap to work with attunements anymore, I already have 6 condition removals atm [one taking 2] so don’t see much need for the 30 in water as 30 in arcane gets me condition removals with heals attached as well as quicker attunement swaps and more buffs up at once [more uptime on protection/regen/swiftness/might] i have swapped a few talents out for more cc/heals [water/earth-20% cd reduction] gna test this see if it’s worth the -10% less damage/regen and vigor from double proc of cantrips, i’ve tested vigorous sceptre and it’s pretty meh imo hardly noticable regen increase i’d rather use phoenix and have the arcane shield at 25% as this will equate to more damage mitigated imo, thanks for the feedback

Hi I just thought I’d share this build I’m using atm, it has decent healing a nice hp pool while still having high toughness [2.1k most of the time with protection up a lot of the time]
it does pretty good damage once you’ve killed a few people and stacked some power/cond dmg and is probably the tankiest char in the game with 2.1k toughess[2 skill on earth keep it up 24/7] and u wanna be switchin to a attunement blowin the best cd’s then switching out asap for the buffs and when ya need healing or condition removal just pop water hit 4/3/5 that should give ya a nice chunk of hp and remove 2 conditions and give ya some regen
I tend to use the water attunement or fire to summon my lesser elemental [water gives chill effect and fire does nice damage] earth one sucks in pvp and wind aint to good really
I tend to start fights in electricity 3 for a quick blind, 4>straight into the fight and hit 5 to blow everyone back and get 13 seconds of swiftness switch to fire hit 4/5 for fire ring + some nice dmg if it caught em, switch straight into earth for protection and added condition dmg/toughness [you shouldn’t have to use 2 as unless you’ve lost all the fragments as this should be put up in downtimes] pop 3 for a quick blind then 4 for your aoe knockdown then 5 for big bleeds/dmg aoe [usually pop ur active armor of earth cantrip here to avoid knockdown etc] and by now you will prob need some healing, go water cycle through heals with chill armour up and the passive regen/heal from switching also if you dodge in this attunement because of the 30 trait in arcane you will cleanse a condition and heal for a decent amount, then cycle back to fire stack some burning and make sure to use phoenix for the vigor regen /condition cure and repeat [alternating between burning/bleeding should give you a little removal protection]
Also whenever you feel like you need some CC and ur cd’s are all blown pop hammer of lightning..this is uber the auto attacks are quick [1 1/2 second in total for all 3 hits to land]and 3rd hit does a small aoe blind! put a stunfield down with 5 that lasts 4 seconds and stuns anyone who walks into it for 2 seconds [ppl can be multistunned]..and you can knockback like a guardian using banish..you get a leap finisher and a lightning combo field …this combo field is very good at the start of a match for using with blast finishers to build a big amount of mass swiftness for your team so they can get to their destinations quickly before the other team [one blast finisher = 10 seconds of swiftness] so drop the lightning field then quickly drop the wep and spam ur blast finishers:) – dont forget u summon a hammer in ur hands and one at the target so dont be afraid to use all the cd’s drop it then pick the second one up a bit later when the cd’s are back up..=] [they arent that long 25 seconds being longest]
Also you have tornado for defending/atking points which is extra knockback/stability/damage and really is very helpful for your team when your trying to cap a crucial point, or if your alone defending a point this could get you a extra almost 20 seconds, just dont pop it when your low hp as you can still be killed and make sure you go into water/earth attunement for your 10% extra dmg/protection/toughness/regen/chill armour/instaheal/conditionremover[all passive except chill arm] before you use it.
Don’t flame this:) i know there’s a lot of text it’s more of a guide with a build and I hope it helps some people wanting to point defend as ele is one of the best, we have the most cc by quite a bit and high area damaging spells and very easy access to high toughness/high protection/regen upkeep/high mobility/decent condition damage [burning and bleeding]/pets/stability/easy healing & condition removal
The build can be modified to suit your playstyle but i’d recommend keeping 30 in arcane whatever you do.
The reason i use soldiers amulet is for the extra hp/toughness and damage sits around 19.25k hp which is nice for soaking up some extra dmg and surviving that bit longer, I could have gone for a condition amulet but it felt like i was losing to much hp or toughness to then be tanky to both direct dmg and conditions, this is why i use the undead runes to help get some more condition dmg/toughness and the +condition&power damage on kill sigils, once these are stacked you will be doing high mixed dmg [power and condition]

You can party and enter tourneys with people from any EU server, not just Desolation.
The only reason to have players from desolation in your guild if you want to PVE or WvW.
Is there any reason why you want only Desolation players?
hmm sorry i must have misread i thought you could only pve / hot pvp with people from other servers..in that case i see no reason to not take people from others servers thanks a lot for informing me:)
I use this build it’s good at dpsing..tanky great condition removal and with a swap of a amulet u can go from dps to point defender pretty easily..you could even stick a hammer in ur bag and switch it out for one of the weps when ur defending if u really wanted to. – you can get nice burst using 5 on greatsword to pull/knockdown every one that hasnt got stability and then whirling blade switch wep and zealots defense them as they try to flee you also have 3 gap closers 1 that burns and heals you and 2 that blind.
you offer support with your dps, save yourself and ur elite skill to turn the tide of the battle by buffing/healing
[I use Knights amulet & jewel for dps and Soldiers Amulet & jewel for point defense I also use 6/6 runes of melandru for both builds]

I’ve also used this build as full point defense..plenty of healing with the buffs and symbol from the mace with writ of the merciful plenty of retaliation and burning/might on the 4 blocks with mace/focus and protection on 3 then it has knockback and immobilize and aoe with sceptre/shield and protection and then you have stability to avoid some cc. [use this with soldier amulet/jewel and runes and you can either use runes of the flame legion for a bit of a damage boost/burning upkeep or runes of the soldier for vit/toughness and 2 extra condition removals through the shouts]

if ur wondering the reason i dont run with a hammer for point defense is i’d have to give up 4 blocks [might/burning stacks] healing x2 from the mace symbol and then even more healing from 3rd mace strike on autoatk, protection from mace 3 and the ability to blind a enemy or grant regenerate+cure a condition to my allies and this would be traded for a hammer with very slow animation/cast times where the banish skill is so easy to dodge/see coming the immobilise is pretty good on a lowish cd and the number 5 can be good it’s just a touch slow so ppl can usually slip in or out of it before you’ve got it up properly the autoattacks just plain sucks imo the time between the 2nd and 3rd auto atk that gives u protection is pretty huge making it quite hard to land tbh the no.2 aoe on hammer i do like as it gives you a small leap but i think the cons outweigh the pro’s for me on the hammer vs sceptre/shield or mace/focus plus i can take writ of the merciful instead of two handed mastery..and it stacks with the regeneration on the mace for some nice healing that combined with u getting a constant stream of healing from boons on yourself and allies makes you very tanky.

I’m playing Burst thief Roamer that attacks nodes and falls back to support my friend at nodes when needed, my friend is playing Point Defender CC/Shout Warrior and it seems to work very well for defense, he cc’s them till i get there as best as he can while dealing a bit of damage and then when i get there he usually cc’s one of em while i burst them down and so forth.
We are Active mainly at the weekends..i’m active most days from 7pm but my friend has to get up at about 5am to go to work during the week and only plays from 7pm>8:30pmish during the week at the weekends we play from 7pm to around 12>2am depending on how awake we are lol.
We have won a fair amount of the free tournaments with random grps etc and a few premades but, we find we can never get into the same grp of ppl again. as they arent on at same times or they’re in a new team etc so we’re looking for people who are going to be on at the same time as us and be loyal to the team.
Basically we wanna win some paid tournaments and get some qualifier points and go on to the big tournaments and we’re looking for preferably one condition damage built char + a mesmer[for the numbers game:P] and a bursty class that can survive a bit of a beating or kite well…we were also thinking mesmer because they are also very good at defending a second point long enough for help to arrive in a clutch situation and they’re the best class to man the treb and repair it imo
we both have mics and we’re English and speak no other languages fluently so English is a must, we can use any preferred speech program, ts3/ventrillo/skype etc.
To summarise if you cba to read all that text.
If you play on the Desolation server, at the weekends at 7pm+ GMT and possibly during the week from 7pm>8:30pm and you speak english, have a mic, play your class well, follow instructions/think on your feet when needed and enjoy tPvP then drop your char name/class /type of build you are good at using effectively in here
I’m not all that bothered about ranks either as tbh you can play hot 8v8 pvp and lose every match and still get rank20+ without being decent at ur class so you will be tried out to see if you are good at ur class and tacticly sound don’t worry about ur rank
