Hey guys,
got into T4 lately and managed to clear some with PUGs however I got downed to often. Boss fights are okay, but I am looking for a few tips for handling non-boss enemies. Dodging does not work reliable, because of the number of attacks but those attacks also often two-shot me. For example in the Dredge fractal on the switches, what can I do (besides killing enemies faster)?
Any cool tips or is it mainly: “kill them or at least damage them so you rally”?
Fair points.
Anything solo, so duels and solo roaming. Personally, I dislike group play videos quite heavily. They tend to be a lot less impressive, since you a) have a bigger mess of particles flying arount, b) are often easier (two people in discord against 4 randoms have it way easier than 1vs2 IMO) and c) often are based on good build combinations, but then it’s not an Ele vid but a group vid in perspective of an Ele.
Any reason for the different weapons? Or just mixing things a bit up?
I felt like your opponents when fighting with dd were by far the most competent (while in the duel with staff the opponent was pretty bad, maybe not worth it to show).
Also, why do you go from air 5 to fire 2 instead of fire 3? You missed a lot of burning speeds that way, which is an important damage source.
The first song was great, would love to see more scepter/focus, thanks for the vid.
Hey guys,
so I have heard a lot of hype recently about the living world. I only have Episode 5 and 6 of Season 3 unlocked and nothing of Season 2 so I am wondering if I will get a good experience starting with that. Or do you need to play it from the beginning to enjoy it? My fear is that the new maps will be empty when I get in the story to these when I don’t stay up to date.
Any inputs are appreciated, but please avoid spoilers, if possible.
Yes, ideally people would gear up completely, get enough practice runs on the golem to be adept at their classes rotation and have read up and maybe watched a video or 2 on the boss they are about to try. In reality the group can be happy if at least one of these is true.
Working on the first, don’t know my rotation for the second yet and watched some raid streams for the third.
I think I agree with zoomberg on learning it the right way and not getting used to something easier but worse.
Ahh, I forgot that you can put doubloon in your weapons as well. Thanks for your detailed reply. Is the Sigil of concentration just a l2p issue or does it make the rotation worse?
Thanks for your reply!
Combine any of the points above and figure a setup out which works for you. Use a build editor to compare setups then make a note what you think works for you. My personal prefarence for first time mesmers:
- build for utility mesmer (no tanking stuff thus minstrel and commanders is out)
- don’t use sigil of concentration (makes the rotation tougher and costs quite a bit of gold)
- farm leadership runes, use other types of boon duration until you have them
- no chaos trait line for you, go Domination, Illusions, Chrono
- plan on using Bountiful Sharpening stones (need to be crafted since account bound)
- use exotic trinkets as need be and fillup with bountiful sharpening stones
But how do I reach 100% Boon duration then? Buff food(20%) + Leadership Runes (32%) + Bountiful sharpening stones (10%) + 5 Platinum Doubloon(20%) is only 82%. Moreover, why go Illusion over Inspiration? I thought the phantasma trait of Inspiration would be essential. Also, the sharpening stones seem ridiculously expensive.
Any thoughts on WvW with Leadership runes?
Also are there any non power/zerker mesmer builds in use for raids?
Thanks!
Regarding 2: What is the big difference between me playing the tank role or the dps in actual playstyle. I have never played in raids so I have really no idea. Do you need to run in circles all the time just because you got 200 toughness more than the others?
To 3: Do you think leadership can work out in WvW? I find the condition cleanse quite appealing (especially with mass invisibility, as ohh kitten button) but I am unsure whether the boon duration can be of good use. Maybe if I go PU, with chaos, inspiration and chrono?
Hey guys,
I am a returning player and a bit lost with a lot off stuff I read here on the forum.
My ultimate goal is to play a mesmer build in WvW I can mostly use the same gear for as for raids/fractals. Now my Questions:
1. How Important are Chronomancers in raids? I read somewhere that you always need two, one for tanking and one for dps, is that correct?
2. What is the big difference between those two positions? Both use zerker gear all the way with a bit commander to get to 100% boon duration, don’t they? Why do you lock yourself in the tanking role if you go durability? Is it because of the toughness agro mechanic?
3a. Would it be viable for WvW and raids to go durability runes instead of leadership?
3b. And then compensate in raids with the chaos traitline to get the additional boon duration?
Thanks in advance

Hey guys,
I am looking for an update regarding WvW and PvE. I played the last time in the beginning of HoT but the rumors of a new expansion renewed my love to GW2.
Now, I want to roam in WvW again and at the same time upgrade my gear to ascended. So I am looking for a class which has a good WvW roaming build and a good (Raid/Fractal) PvE build. These builds should use the same stats so I can keep one set of gear. Weapons and small parts could be exchanged. I prefer direct damage over condition damage (mainly because, when I played, the the latter was more a “hit or miss” thing) but I am open for ideas.
If you need even more specifications I would prefer classes in the following order:
Ele
Scrapper
Mesmer
Reaper (has this class enough mobility to roam?)
If you have any ideas, please share them and maybe the builds the class would use.
Also, what is the state of the art in farming ascended gear?
Thanks in advance
