[BUG] (Guardian) Sigil of Swiftness

The Guardian’s sigil of swiftness repeatedly puts you in combat when using it on the jumping puzzle in Southsun Cove, near Lion Point Waypoint.

Obviously there are zero enemies, not even a single ambient creature. There is zero reason that it should be triggering combat. I don’t understand why, when I’m far above the ground, far away from any enemies, sigil of swiftness would trigger combat.

This is 100% repeatable. Any time Sigil of Swiftness’s radius is touching where a steam jet/rock is/will be/has been, you’re in combat. Makes for kittenty jumping, and I see no reason why it should be doing this.

Why won't the right mouse button turn my character around?

It does turn the character… when you walk forward while the camera is facing the direction you want to go (with right click) you go that direction.

If you’re upset that it doesn’t show your actual character turning until you actually move, this has no impact on game play and is purely cosmetic.

Canceling Targeting Circles

Stagnant.4035

I’m having major issues with canceling targeting circles in-game. Normally in MMOs I can right click while having a ground targeting circle out, and it will go away. This is of GRAVE IMPORTANCE when it comes to dodging attacks. Often I need to cancel the circle in time to dodge.

The problem: Right click only sometimes cancels the targeting circle. This has gotten me killed more than once, where I right click to get rid of the circle so I can dodge in time only to find that it didn’t cancel, and I can’t dodge while its out.

Obviously I could press escape, but because I’m more used to right click (and it works a little less than half the time) I’m a little confused. Just standing in town, I can see that I’ll right click and cancel it one time, and another time I could right click 6-7 times before it actually cancels and I’m free to dodge with my character again.

Anyone else having this same issue? It’s driving me up the wall.

I’d just like to debunk the theory that only tag along characters are affected by the bug, as I’m seeing quite a few people claim that and I know for a fact it’s not true.
I was the host, and I was skipped 18 levels ahead while my friend, the tag-along, was fine.

Is it just me, or is everything always butter?

Just wanted to see if anyone else is getting far less fine materials out of what used to be a great source of them (bags) now that everything is always butter all day.

I’m frustrated that we’ve been left dangling again. This is a MAJOR issue blocking progress for hundreds of people. I thought we would have more information on this bug by now, and all the people who can’t continue their story right now (and haven’t been for a while now, with no fix in sight) are entitled to it.

sounds like you are not having fun playing the game… which means(no offense) that GW2 may not be for you.

Think this may be your problem. Sounds like the GW2 thing just isn’t your cup of orange juice.

I’m a little frustrated that nothing else has been stated ArenaNet. It’s not really acceptable to leave us dangling like this, and it’s not really acceptable to not implement a fix for this bug for already affected characters.

Is there any more news on this yet?

This doesn’t seem to have any actual information in it, it seems like an automated response to anyone opening a support ticket to report an issue with their story.

Hmm.. Did you join your boyfriend’s instance both the times? Because this bug only seems to affect people who aren’t the owners of the respective instances. So, if that’s the case, maybe that’s why he wasn’t affected while you were, twice?

This is incorrect. I was the owner of my instance, and the bug affected me and not my friend.

Any information on if we’ll be able to get the issue fixed on our affected characters without having to re-roll? Lots of us have probably dedicated more than one character’s worth of crafting resources to level our disciplines, or for one reason or another would rather not have to start over. I don’t think we should be expected to either.

Detailed information:

Instance owner: Me, I was level 32, an Asura Warrior, Order of Whispers
Instance Passenger: Friend, level 30, an Asura Engineer, Order of Whispers
We were on the same quest, and did it together. Immediately after finishing, I was progressed to the level 48 quest “Suspicious Activity”. My friend, the passenger, was instead progressed properly to the level 30 quest to meet his Order of Whispers contact.

I’d really rather not re-create my character, as I’ve invested a large amount of crafting materials into his professions.

Just to throw my experience in, I was the owner of the instance and my friend was on the same quest as me as a passenger in my instance. Once it finished, my friend (the passenger) was advanced to the next quest (L30) and I was shoved into a L48 quest.

I really hope you were serious when you said you’re taking this seriously, because letting it be and leaving characters without the choices, exp, and loot received from these quests is unacceptable. I can’t imagine in what world this would be something you just throw your hands up at and say “It’s fixed now, but to those of you who got royally messed up… we’re sorry…”

Listen here BP, drilling on the moon is NOT the answer!

I think they just need to implement a 24 hour story reset for all characters who need it. (a temporary thing, not a permanent option) I didn’t run into the same issue as you, but I ran into a bug (along with several other people on these forums) that Anet publicly said was already fixed. This bug skips an entire chapter of the story… just entirely gone. Jumps from level 29 to level 48, and they say there isn’t a thing they can do about it. Entirely unacceptable if you ask me.

Please respond to people having issues with their story quest, a simple “oh well, can’t do anything now.” does not cut it, sorry.

Yeah, I’m a little upset that I’m missing out on the rewards and experience for my story quests. I think it’s a little odd that they say there is nothing they can do about it.

We need a response, because this issue clearly hasn’t been fixed, and it’s not really acceptable to say there is nothing to be done.

“Issue: it skipped me from story X to a L48 story quest!
Related to the above issue, if you were playing in a group to get past some of the stories blocked by bad character data, the only fix was to restore your character and advance you to Chapter 6.

Note: For the above issues, we’ve fixed the bug that causes them so they shouldn’t happen any more, but some characters might be bugged and have to reset by going to Lion’s Arch. Players who completed the battle for Fort Trinity pre-fix may experience some weirdness with it losing track of the story track they were on.
While this bug is fixed, we can’t retroactively set you on the correct quest steps, rewrite your journal, etc."

I’ve just experienced this bug on 9/5/12, so I don’t believe it’s fixed. Going to Lion’s Arch didn’t fix my problem either. Is there something I can do to get back to my story quest, or do I just have to deal with the skip and wait until L48 to continue where it’s dropped me?
