I bought GW2 on launch day, played it for about a month but the amount of bots killed the game for me and I quit to play another online game.

Now, months later I’m considering playing again but I have one question.

Does the game still lower your level when you are say level 30 and enter a level 5 zone?
That annoyed me as in like wow I used to love soloing low level dungeons with a high level character.

did they patch it out or is it still like that?

I’m not, the botting and anet’s attitude to it has driven me to another mmo.

After putting up with this getting worse day after day after day, and getting several infractions by the mods here for even MENTIONING the botting plague.

I’ve decided that life is too short to waste time on this and hope for anet to do anything.
After reporting the same bots for over a week and they are still there, its quite obvious that anet either don’t care about the problem or they are encouraging it, as a way of generating extra income.

I know I blew my £40 on the game and they have it now but after this fiasco I will never buy another ncsoft/arenanet game again.

The bots are left alone and anyone reporting them or commenting on them gets forum infractions. and I thought blizzard were a bad company.. words fail me.

Goodbye all, its such a great shame to quit a game that is so fun to play.

They said that they observe the behavior to try to come up with ways to combat it, then do mass bannings.

So just report those you think are botting and move on with your game.

How long do they need to observe them for huh?

on my server I’ve seen the same bots for WELL over a week, there all day, all night. countless people mention them and report them, myself I’ve reported them many times.

Nothing is EVER done about it. The game is great but the attitude of arenanet is really going to lose lots of players. a: for not doing a naffing thing about a HUGE bot problem and b: because of their attitude to us normal players. no information or updates for weeks.

I am going to stop reporting when/if I play again, theres simply no point in it, its totally ignored.

I’ve played many mmo’s but I’ve never seen anything as bad as this.

Wasting your time mate, Anet simply aren’t interested in removing the bots whatsoever.

I never use fb, I avoid it like the plague it is.

tbh I’d rather take a blunt potato peeler to my face than use that site. ughh..

Yeah you’re right though. They use fb and reddit to post news, two places I personally will not visit. they should put the news here instead of some crap third party social site.

Can’t say I blame you, the botting alone is bad enough to drive people away.

Its so so annoying as the game is great, it stinks that you CBA to fix what is a MAJOR problem or even give us a news update on it. We’re treated like mushrooms.

Regarding multiboxing, I’ve been playing mmo’s for almost a decade, its usually easy to tell them apart.

eg: Few multiboxers that I know of, run around with their entire party naked.

Yes, they do need to answer and answer soon..

I’ve been noticing that any other threads on botting are either locked very fast or in the case of one I was following today ..totally deleted from the forum.

This confirms my suspicion that anet simply dont give two hoots about the botting problem which has grown very very big over the last week or so.

Watching trains of naked rangers running about in a set pattern tends to ruin my gameplay as well as make it hard to do certain things.

Sadly for now, I’m going back to Lotro, I don’t prefer it, GW2 is my game of choice but I cannot play until something is done about this. I suspect it wont happen.

Also theres no official comments on here for a long long time.

I’ve reported and reported and nothing changes, even many days later.

Gold buyers should be banned immediately and permanently.

Doesn’t matter if you’ve bought 1g or 100,000,000g. instant perma ban.
There simply is NO valid excuse for buying gold..

I love this game to bits but this apparent lack of action is close to driving me away from the game.

I know you get bots in all online games but when theres 20+ going around in a line killing everything, its beyond a joke.

I honestly doubt Arenanet are doing anything about the TERRIBLE botting.

I really like the game a lot, its great fun and I adore its crafting tremendously but in 7-8 years of MMO playing, I have never, Never seen botting as bad as it currently is in GW2.

I’m trying to level an alt and its almost impossible as the low level areas are infested with many bots, not 1-2, sometimes 8-10 at a time and it makes doing anything very very hard.

To be honest its driving me away from the game, I’ve reported many bots and the problem seems to be getting worse, not better.

PLEASE anet, do something about this before you drive people away

I love the game and I’m having fun but please PLEASE do something about the botting thats going on. I’ve played wow for 5 years and I’ve seen bots many times but tonight it was the worst I’ve EVER seen.

I’m trying to do a heart area and theres 6-7 bots running around the area in a set patter killing everything instantly. I’ve reported all of them but hours later they are still doing it!

also I couldn’t complete the heart as they killed anything that spawned in the area almost instantly. This is spoiling my game!

PLEASE do something about the botters..

on a side note I don’t understand why someone would buy the game to play it like that, apart from cheating its totally pointless and ruins other peoples game!

That’s why there is level scaling. When you are level 20 and have to back and farm at a level 5 area, you ruin a level 5 player’s game while farming. So you have to face things under the same conditions as a level 5 player.

This is called justice.

I guess I can understand that to some point, I wouldn’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, thats for sure.

But when you need a mountain of cloth, its pretty depressing to farm it at what is a low level. I would buy it but the amount I need and the price it is, I simply cannot afford it. is this Anet’s way of encouraging gold selling?

I love your game but please consider removing character level scaling or at least part of it.

I love crafting and right now I’m trying to get cloth and its hard and very slow when my level 20 character gets scaled down so rather than aoe farming 10 mobs at a time for materials, I’m having to again fight them 1 on 1, which is very VERY slow for gathering materials and also gives me no sense that my character has ‘progressed’ since he was here before.

I’m struggling to decide on my ‘main’. I only like ranged combat and I want a profession that has decent survivability.

I have an Engineer, Ranger and Elementalist.

Engineer was main main but I’ve grown to dislike the profession, which of the other two would be best as my new main? Ranger or Ele?

I have a character with a name I only found out recently that is the name of a film star, I did not plan this and it annoys me somewhat that people now assume I’m a fan of the person when I didn’t know they existed until an hour ago.

Is it possible to do a name change or even a paid name change?

I don’t want to report myself for a bad name as I might get a ban for it.
