After contemplating how to continue crafting, I’ve decided to continue to craft the new stat ascended pieces (Viper’s.)
The materials for fulgarite for the armor take longer to acquire, but I will be able to acquire the items while experiencing the new content of HoT. If you have already crafted ascended pieces, you should definitely convert those to the new stat if you plan on using that armor permanently.
I’d like to rescind my comments about the design of the crafting system. I see now it is not necessarily as easy to craft the gen 1 ascended armors. It would however have been nice for a new skin for the generation 2 ascended items.

Can you still unlock the Watchwork Sprockets node through LS Season 2 for your home instance?
Arenanet is actually very good about maintaining the ability to buy progession. Nothing in their gem store sticks out as a huge advantage through monetary purchase.
Anyone who complains about an expansion as p2w is an idiot and needs to go find a better job or you shouldn’t be wasting time gaming if you can’t save $30 for a hobby. Gg
So, I recently got back into the game, and I’m enjoying the expansion. There are lots of great updates coming from Anet.
I’m here to complain about the new ascended crafted gear because I just found out there is a far more efficient way to “convert” old ascended gear into the new stats.
I’ve already started to use my resources towards a Yassith’s Visor. I started to ask map if they had any input on the expense of the gear which lead me to the conversion method.
Why Anet? Why would you make such a gold sink for an armor set that looks EXACTLY the same as the old ascended gear. What a pathetic design. There is absolutely no point in crafting the new gear. Unfortunately, I learned this too late.
