Took another look at sigils on GW2 Wiki and spotted Sigil of Leeching which heals for 975 on next hit after weapon swapping (9 second cooldown). Put one on two weapons, you can heal 975 every 9 seconds.

I use to run full wells with bloodthirst, vampiric precision and vampiric rituals and used blood, corruption, suffering and darkness wells. Now I’m mixing in minions a bit as Vampiric Precision heals for 51 a crit while minions heal for 114 with bloodthirst/vamipirc master. Shadow Fiend and flesh Golem hit at a rate of 1.5 seconds. Still debating if I’ll use Blood Fiend, it works with Vampiric Master trait and heals more over time than using any other heal.

I agree with the other posters, the healing can be great and in different aspects of the game you will never drop under 90% while other areas leeching will not outheal the incoming dps. Take it for what it’s worth. Add in a little to help with your survivability.

Edit: great thing is we can swap out our utilites.

over time, dagger will generate more life force. Axe is a 12% over 2.25 seconds on a 25 second cooldown and if the enemy dodges or moves out of range, you can lose up to the remaining hits and life force. Dagger generates 6% on it’s basic attack with no cooldown.

base heal for this is 292 a tick, not affected by heal power, so test it out and see if it goes higher while bloodthirst is traited.

sigil of blood over sigil of restoration because you have to kill something to get the heal from resto and it’s only around 670 points where blood (heals for 450 +1 for every 10 points of Heal Power AND deals 450 damage) can happen a few times during a fight as it’s on a 2 sec cooldown and if you are AoE’ing in a large WvW fight you’re going to crit something.

Pretty sure they will both trigger as one is on crit hit and other is on death. As for using leech traits, they are not very big, 40 points from vampiric traits. As others have said there are better options, but I wouldn’t discount the food/sigils.

Parasitic Bond, first spite trait, heals for 950 on kill and is affected by heal power so I choose that over resto.

Agree with you Godless. No communication is bad, good communication goes a long way, excellent communication is, well, excellent. I personally wouldn’t want to get thousands of PM’s that are lacking in details, or nerf crys etc. nor would I want to shift though as many posts that ooze negativity.

Having a running thread by Anet that only they can post in on each forum to keep the community updated on ideas, whats being looked at, whats been fixed internally and waiting to go live etc would be nice.

Posted in a sPvP forum thread.

I actually wasn’t talking about you, but about said thread. In 24 hours, that thread generated more dev comments and actual balance changes than the entire Necromancer subforum has in a year. THAT is what I am disgusted by.

Please understand that my job is to make sure the feedback of the sPvP players is properly communicated back to the company (note my title). The reason why I communicated in that thread was because that is my job. We have other community coordinators that are focused on other parts of the game.

The reason why I focused my communication in that thread is because it was loaded with constructive feedback, which should always be promoted. No, it was most definitely NOT the only thread about Necromancers. Also, it was NOT the only thread that I posted in regarding the Necro changes and feedback.

Now, with that in mind; This was a change that was SPLIT between PvP and PvE. The change ONLY happened for PvPers, and it was a quick turnaround due to the fact that the tournament was starting this weekend.

This does NOT mean that we ignore the Necromancer forums. This does NOT mean we don’t make changes that benefit PvE. This does NOT mean we don’t have hotfixes specifically to help PvE players.

Appreciate your feedback, but many of the things you are claiming are simply not true.

So who is the person in charge of overseeing the necromancer forums? And how do we get ahold of said person?

Ok, you two have shown that it works in combat. I did not notice the difference because, as you pointed out, it’s minute.

SoS is a bad trait. It’s trumped by SotL, it’s badly limited in use time and situations.

So now I guess I can let this topic die and we’ll leave a worthless trait stay on our rather long list of broken mechanics. No need to try to be vocal and get Dev attention to fix/change this trait to be something more since it has potential.

And thanks, glad to be back after my 6 month break. Things have certainly changed since launch.

Feedback on the recent Necromancer changes

Streets.2705

Anet was commenting in a PvP forum that they were listening to the players about necromancers and would look into making changes. In none of the posts by the Devs did they say that they would split the change so it only affected PvP. Allie I hope you understand that the PvE necromancer community was concerned that another change or possibly a nerf would occur behind their backs, affecting them also, with no chance to weigh in. It wouldn’t have blown up as big as it did if you or who ever else came in and said that any changes would only affect PvP.

Speed of Shadows worthless?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Streets.2705

Streets.2705

Bellamy I posted that with my time runs couple posts above with the varied setups. I have never noticed swiftness ever increasing my movement speed while in combat but I was never really looking at that. I thought no speed movement buffs worked in combat, swiftness included.

My point with original post was if Speed of Shadows is worthless and/or is it working as intended. Why would anyone waste a trait, albeit adept trait, for 25% movement increase in our Death Shroud at the cost of our Life Force and only usable while out of combat. Answer is no one will ever take that trait when they can just slot SotL or blast warhorn #5

Now if it was fixed to work while in combat and had a significant improvement on our speed, that would be a useful “oh kitten, run!” escape option. It wouldn’t be OP because we have to burn our Life Force to use it.

I hope the changes are made accordingly, if necros need high DS in pve then let it be, but in pvp having so much high hp is OP.

I don’t really think it is OP. Theres an innate tick every second while in DS stripping off 4%. We can’t stay in DS forever, and once we exit we have a 10 second cooldown before we can pop back in. No use of heal/utility/elites in DS. Our LF generation isn’t all that big, 1 axe attack that generates 12% over 2.25 seconds if it hits fully on a 25 second cooldown. Staff can get 12% if its basic hit tags 3 players on a straight line, if not, 4% per player hit. Otherwise 6% is the average from daggers auto attack.

I hope they address the thing that they have so much deathshroud that is just OP, before this it was fair but now they have like 3 bars of health, they should give this class another thing to move and not make them tanks, this is not good aproach because they are becoming really OP by having so much health.

Actually, all they did was fix a bug.

First, necros took double damage while in death shroud. Second, instead of only giving us 66% of our base health pool, death shroud now gives us 100% of our base health pool. So now all the claims that we have two health bars is correct, as before we had only 2/3rds of what we were originally supposed to have, and we took double damage.

lol im trying to figure out where you guys are getting this much LF pool , with 20 into spite and 20 into death tree (and 30 into curses) i see a champion centaur in hinterlands drop me as fast now as it did before , just now i dont have that survivability vs a spike dmg in pve ( i would post in the pve /class forum but those forums are completely ignored at this point) , so yea there was no noticeable increase to our LF in pve atleast , still no good survivability , this is trying to use it defensively and still get mowed down btw……..this patch was a tremendous joke to Necros…..you ask ppl ingame that arent in the spvp / tpvp stuff and youll hear the same stuff.

You can try this trick to figure it out. I suggest doing it in Mists pvp staging area otherwise it’ll cost a bit to do the trait reset.

1. look at your HP, mine is 18372.
2. fill up LF pool to 100%.
3. add 10 points of Soul Reaping. For me, LF pool now says 91%, yes 91%.

10 points of Soul Reaping increases LF pool to 110% max HP. In my case 110% of 18372 is 20209 which 18372, the amount LF pool was at before step 3, is 91%. The Developers haven’t given any numbers out but stated they fixed a bug that caused Necros to take double the damage from direct attacks while in Death Shroud.

Our Death Shroud eats 4% of that pool every second we are in it unless we spend 10 points in a trait line to make it 3%. at 24k hp that’s a 960 tick. Plus we have a 10 second cooldown before we can use it again at which point our actual HP is vulnerable. We can’t heal our actual HP while in Death Shroud.

And it’s only 2 bars. Actual health plus life force pool that equals 100% of our max health pool.

Edit: Before it was also 2 bars, we just took DOUBLE THE DAMAGE while in death shroud which as stated in patch notes WAS A BUG.

I like Signet of Spite, too.

I don’t understand Signet of Spite. Never did.
Tooltip: Hey, this thing increases your power!
Player: Awesome!
Tooltip: It also applies a boatload of conditions!
Player: Aweso-, wait, what?
I get the vulnerability/cripple/weakness combo, and I can see the potential as a stack of short-duration cover conditions, but… why Power, of all things?

I do not know the Developers intention, but from personal testing, adding 6-7 points of power is equal to adding 1% crit damage.

Dmg formula – (weapon dmg x power x skill modifier) / Armor = dmg ( x Crit dmg if crit)

at base 50% crit dmg on critical hit, adding 6-7 points more power is the same as adding 1% crit damage.

The thing is if you are running staff and scepter then there is no benefit at all from even having 2k power. The skills scale so badly with power that there really is no point. It is a complete waste.

Depends on your build. If I leaned towards a direct damage build, that 180 is ok, but it’s active perk would be a nice complement to my dmg. For a condition lean, the actives are good and the extra power boosts my direct dmg inbetween condition bursts.

Like punching with a set of brass knuckles and surprise, they are coated with a little poison.

We do have way too many trash traits. The fact that reanimator still hasn’t been addressed is just baffling.

I am still baffled why PvP necros haven’t cried out that they can’t use their heal/utility/elite for a second or two after Death Shroud is depleted and they are reverted back to normal. Game breaking!

This freqeuntly kills me

I just want to know if this is working as intended, what’s the point of a trait that is very limited in use and situation? And would it be possible to make it work during combat?

It was a bug. Unintended.

We freaked out when our teleport spots left, and you know what happened? We were told it was unintended. We were using a part of the game that should not have been there.

Same thing here. If you enter death shroud and you take 20k, the remainder should go to your health pool, which is the 2nd highest in the game ill add.

Quit complaining that a bug was fixed. And there is a little more emphasis on PvP right now because PvE is getting new content every 2 weeks and a major selling feature of GW2 is about to occur.

This is not true. There was no bug with the overspill. It wasn’t like the game was coded to overspill excess damage to our health points. The bug was in the extra damage being taken while in Death Shroud. The Developers decided to tweak the mechanic to allow spilling. If it was a bug, then they would have said, “fixed a bug that prevented damage….”

is Soul Reaping adept trait “Speed of Shadows” worthless? It looks like it only adds the 25% movement boost when out of combat. If this is true, then we have to burn Life Force to save a utility slot, then stop and fight something to recharge it again.

Can we get a Dev response on the intent of this trait? Was it meant to work in combat? Can it be fixed to work in combat? I don’t see that as being OP. It would be a finite combat buff at the expense of our DS life force.
