Thanks so much for letting us know the plan! I happen to love LW and I am very much game for you guys to focus on that. I know you and everyone else at Anet work hard to give us a variety of things and so I trust your decision. Sometimes you have to weigh your options. I would rather you guys put high quality content out because you focused on one thing at a time.

Eternal Clarity [Ankh]
DragonBrand Server
Ankh is a laid-back, friendly community of people from all ages and back grounds who prefer to play a fun game together; where drama and ego are not included (we believe this is a game where real life always comes first and when you come on to play the environment should be silly fun and friendly!) We do not tolerate people being rude or talking down to others. We have very strong players and we have very casual players who enjoy the social aspect of the game just as much as playing it. Ankhies are friendly, talkative and a silly group who love to joke around and play together for dragon events, adventuring, dungeons, fractals, WvW and PvP. We do Guild Missions weekly on Sundays where we all get on vent and have a good time while getting loot! (Vent is not mandatory however, we believe in letting people do what makes them feel the most comfortable!). We have started some very laid back WvW runs for people who want to dip their toes into that aspect of the game. Ankh’s goal is to be a guild where people feel welcome, included and part of a online family! We are over 7 years old, coming from Gw1 with three guild leads and some amazing officers! Ankhies are some of the most wonderful and dynamic people you will ever meet in game! And we are always looking for more people to join our goofy family!
Guild Philosophy: Respect, Integrity, Honor, Acceptance, Support and Community!

I love this game just as much as the rest of you guys. As much as I think the price is a tad high, I have to look back at the history of this company and recognize they have worked hard to foster a culture of listening to the voice of their players and caring about the quality of what they give us. Now, no-subscription-fees is a must for the future of MMOs. However they have to pay all those amazing employees who use their creativity, imagination and ingenuity to create a game I play all the time. I trust they struggled to find the best price for this expansion and either they have their reasons (such as they need to pay their employees) or they made a mistake. Either way they are listening to us and I know they will try and find a balance that in the end supports the future of this game! (cause I can’t wait to explore the jungle by glider!! EEEK!)

Ack! Wow! Uh... Beta newbie here...

I have to disagree with the hype. I think they are giving us just enough info to explain whats happening. And personally I am really excited about the changes. These are all great things that need to take place and I am glad Anet is doing it. As for ESO… it’s soooo brown! No color, drab drab drab. I like Gw2, call me a “fangirl” but I think it’s a great game and I am happy they are making these changes! I know we all want even more…(guild halls and tofu) but maybe they have more to tell us.. who knows! I am gonna wait and see before I complain

I am soooo excited! THANK you Anet! I don’t always like what you do…. (no tofu in the game….) but you guys always seem to work towards making things better and I really appreciate that! I am one of the crazy people trying to collect all the dyes and it’s going to be so much easier to apply the colors now because they are separated into hues! And how we can see the colors without actually applying them is fantastic!

Greetings! Thank you for this opportunity to engage in a discussion about the LS. I have always thought Anet does listen to it’s community and cares deeply in what we want out of a game. You guys have created an amazing game!! (Even if you have yet to put tofu in the game. humph)
Also thank you Colin for asking a question. Asking us questions like this is a great way to guide the discussion. We all care about this game and want to give feed back so the more Questions and direction you can give us to give you helps!
As I feel many have touched on some of the concerns I have with LS I will focus on the question: what aspects of a TV show do I want to see in a game setting?
I think it boils down to story telling (Yes TV is not the same or as engaging as playing a game… but whether I am watching the story or eyeball deep in playing it… if the story isn’t good I loose interest.) So here are some Aspects that I think help keep me tuning in every week or signing in the game:
~Conflict
Struggle, pain, drama, betrayal, power-struggles, hopelessness, overwhelming odds etc! I watch shows with heroes because I want to see them save the day. And when they are down for the count I feel for them. Epic struggle is important. Impending doom gets us out of the pubs in Hoelbrak and out fighting to save the world. Make us suffer a bit. Blow up some houses in Divinity’s Reach and show us some Homeless NPC’s. Maybe we could all donate mats to rebuild an orphanage? But make me feel bad! Punch me or someone else in the gut! Make me want to Do something about it!
Character conflict is also essential. Good example of this was Gwen and Pyre in GW1. Wow what a fun twist! The deep seeded hate that goes back generations between their races. I loved the interaction between these two. Would they settle their differences to come together? This was so great! Mini conflict is important too. Conflict between my character and others… conflict between NPC’s. little nuances that make game play and the world around me richer and more real. Cause as we all know real life can be a struggle sometimes, it helps make the good times feel oh so much better!
~Villains that are multidimensional. Scarlett is a good example. She just hates and wants to destroy. What is her motivation? Who was she? What wronged her so badly to make her this way.. And my Favorite is when a villain turns good. Or so we hope… I watch in angst as a villain is taken into the inner circle.. Will he/she betray the protagonist? Can he/she be trusted? Can he/she truly have changed? It leaves me on the edge of my seat. Engaging, real, full characters with their own quirks.
~Foreshadowing and Cliff hangers
Good shows leave me hanging at the end of every episode. Whats going to happen
? I already (through good story telling) care about my main characters.. now they are in peril… What will happen!? This newest content was great…
La-de-da I am swimming along in Kessex Hills and BAM I hit this weird wall… ooooooo Whats this!
? Now I am curious and I am gonna tune in to find out. When my guild was doing the guild bounty last week we ended up in Kessex hills and some people didn’t know about the magic wall.. it was FUN to tell them about it… Slow, connected, in depth building of a story is much more powerful than quick jerks forward in the story. make me curious and leave me hanging!
~Living vs growing
To me when you say “living” … I don’t think constant change, I think depth. A game I can explore and feel like it is almost real. When I can relate or “totally get” what a character on a TV show is going through I tune in. This community is so sharp. We pick up on the littlest things. For example. I go to the same merchant in LA. it’s just habit. And Every time I hear the same comments from NPC’s around me.. As I am selling my stuff I actually catch myself talking along with the NPC because I know what they are about to say. Changing little things like this once in a while… making the world feel real would be kinda neat.
~Reruns!
UGH I have to go to my In-laws for a week and when I get back my dog is puking, my car broke down and I have to go to the dentist for a broken tooth. Now I missed 2 weeks and have no idea what the heck is going on!? That’s ok. I can pull up HULU on my xbox and watch last weeks episode. But in Gw2… I am outta luck. I know you guys are working on this one already.. But I had to say something anyway!

Thanks again for letting us all give you our two cents! I have no idea if anything I have written will help but the fact you will read it makes me feel involved. I think you guys are doing a great job at figuring this all out. It’s new territory and that means there is a lot to learn. I’d rather you guys keep trying new things and maybe falling on your face from time to time than just doing the same thing everyone else is doing. I am having a terrific time playing! Woot!

Dear Artistic, creative, wonderful staff of Anet!

I am a local Washingtonian and have been a player of GW for 5 years! I have been looking forward to GW2 for a few years now and was floored by the art and creativity within. But what amazed and delighted myself and my husband the most was the flora and fauna of GW2. Sockeye Salmon, Madrones (my husband is a botanist), and most of all Barred owls! Not only does your incredible game allow us to explore a fantasy world unlike anything we could dream of, but it also has elements of home scattered along the way. I have worked with wildlife my entire life doing biological surveys as well as wildlife rehabilitation especially with birds of prey and barred owls happen to be one of my favorite raptors. I was slightly dismayed by the how the barred owls looked when we first started playing but last week my friend popped an owl tonic and suddenly I was staring at a real barred owl!
I am writing this to thank the designers for the impeccable detail in your designs and the effort you guys go to, to make this game so much more than any other game out there. Thank you for the new barred owl skin! thank you thank you!

Your fan,
Strix nebulosa

OK.. So first off… let me say that I live in the Northwest, and worked at Mt Rainier National Park as Wildlife Biology Technician doing spotted owl and barred owl research. I was floored by the wonderful use of real life species in GW2! Many species, originating in this area. From the Sockeye Salmon to Barred owls… And that is where I have to give my tentative complaint. Please know that I LOVE your game. I was second in line (10:30 am start) at your recent Launch party during PAX. I know this is something that should be looked at much much later and I am ok with that.. But.. if at some point.. You guys could consider looking at your Barred owls and comparing them to real barred owls… you might consider making your barred owls browner? i know i know… please pay attention to more important details first…. but sometime… along the line…
Forgive this geeky biologist. I truly LOVE that there are Barred owls in the first place! It brings me so much pleasure…

And… as a second kudos! My husband is a botanist at Mt Rainier NP and he LOVES the dandelion Noxious weed drops!!!

YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Thank you for making such an AMAZING game!!
