Cheese Daddy’s Secret Posse [BRIE]
Ring of Fire.
Alright, som I’m getting a little tired of not knowing what counts towards achievements and what the don’t. Or if they are just bugged. What I can’t figure out is if there’s just a of A LOT of bugs, or if we as players are doing something wrong.
For instance:
Emissary Vorpp’s Field Assistant, Portal Invasion Closer – Respond to five of Scarlet’s portal invasions and be there when each one ends… Now this is quite an important one as it eventually leads you to experience Scarlet’s Funhouse. Now, while I haven’t done a ton of invasions, about 10 I would think, of which only two has been unsuccessful, the achievement clearly says that you only have to do five invasions. But mine is stuck at 4/5.
I doesn’t say whether it has to be 5 DIFFERENT maps. Now I happen to know that I’ve only done it at 4 different maps (because the rng seems to favor Blazeridge Steppes and Frostgorge Sound on my server apparently). But people in the chat keeps saying "nonsense, it’s not bugged. Just do five invasions blah blah… You just haven’t done five invasions blah blah…
kittenmit those persistent kittenholes. I’m pretty sure I can count to 5. This happens everytime an event ends. People in the chat talk about how their different achievements are bugged. while other players shoot them down with arguments like: “it’s not bugged cause I just did, therefore it can’t be bugged blah blah”…
So either we are all doing something wrong. If not… PLEASE FIX ALL THE BUGS, ARENANET! Your achievement bugs are blocking the content that you’ve created for us. A week has almost passed now and I would love to see Scarlet’s funhouse before the event ends.
NCSoft is a publicly traded company and releases financial info for itself and the companies it owns, including Arenanet. There have been many discussions about how profitable Guildwars 2 has been.
It makes a LOT of money every quarter, most of which is from the cash shop. It’s not hard to figure out that they’re selling a lot of stuff, and rng boxes are a big part of those sales, because they keep selling them. I believe since the game was released it has been #2 in NCsoft’s top earning games.
You’re cheap because you’re saying “I’d buy keys if you give me a 50% discount, otherwise it’s not worth it to me.” It’s been a year now, if the keys weren’t selling they would be putting them on sale more often. Anet doesn’t care whether you throw them another $20 or not.
Cheap – you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Is it cheap for me not wanting to buy the most expensive clothes in real life? No, of course it isn’t. It’s about knowing that what you’re paying for isn’t really worth the amount you’re paying. Are you cheap as well for not buying the keys then? No you’re not. You’re just sensible. It has nothing to do me with me being cheap. I’m not cheap. Being cheap is a personal trait, which is simply just not a part of my personality. I’m just trying to suggest a way that I thought Anet could make even more money all while satisfying their costumers at the same time.
If you read my comment, you would see that one of the things I was wondering was do people even buy keys in the first place?. Cause I didn’t know that. But know you have told that they do! So thank you… i guess? But don’t call me cheap. You don’t know me. Don’t assume I’m some 12-year old living off of allowance from my parents. I happen to be 23, doing an education, with a job on the side. I was just making a suggestion to see what people thought. Why come here and start a bad tone?
Anet makes millions of dollars every month from the TP. The majority of that comes from sales of… town clothes, right? Er, must be those armor skins, just look around Lion’s Arch, everyone’s wearing those new armor skins… nope, must be mini-pets, every toon you see has one following behind…
Nope, they sell a lot of keys. A LAAAAAAAAHT of keys. They’re not going to slash the price because you’re cheap.
How on earth would you know how much money they make on the gem store and from what items? Unless you’re an Anet employee. And no, I’m not cheap. I’ve spent quite alot of money on gems. But not for keys.
Stop buying them and anet will change how they handle them
Yeah, I bought a stack once and was like “what a kitten waste of money”… But since I have a large stack of chests, and some of the skins that you buy with scraps are kinda cool, I probably wouldn’t mind buying some keys once in a while, if they weren’t so expensive.
Is it me or did you just get more of them from playing the game when the game released? I know you get 3 through your personal story but I seem to remember opening these chests quite often back in the early days. According to the wiki, the keys can drop off of mobs too, but I don’t recall ever having one of them drop for me.
My suggestion for ArenaNet is to either half the prices on keys or double the amount of keys you get from the current prices. I mean 450 gems for 5 keys???!! That’s just stealing our money. I mean, where already spending our real life money on RNG-chests which is kind of weird. But hey, the ticket scrap skins are often cool, and we don’t mind throwing a buck or two at this awesome game.
BUT!
The thing is, people want to open the black lion chests, but they’re not willing to pay that much money for such a small chance of getting a ticket scrap. So instead they just don’t buy the keys at all. I think, that if the prices were cut in half or the amount was doubled, more players would actually buy the keys. Thus ArenaNet would make more money. It’s a win/win situation.
I know I would probably buy a stack of keys or two per month if the prices weren’t that high. And I don’t think I’m alone on this.
What’s your opinion on this? Do you ever buy the keys? Do you think my suggestion is unrealistic? Or does your black lion chests just stack up in your bank same as mine?
Agreed.
I play on a lower end system, so I can’t even enjoy the “fine details” on the weapons in most cases. So more unique effects and sounds would definitely be a welcome addition!
Because that’s how it’s always been in the Guild Wars franchise
I definitely think regular events should offer better/different rewards. And a “combo” system isn’t a bad idea. Although I’m not entirely sure that I understand your idea… My suggestion would simply be to revise the event-rewards. The thing is, at first when leveling your character you’re always exited to run into events cause they help you level up faster. Plus a little bit of gold and karma is alright too. Maybe you’re finding yourself bying one or two pieces of gear from the heart-karma vendors while leveling up or when low on materials to craft it yourself. The thing is though, once you reach max level the amount of karma you’re gaining is barely useable for anything. You get alot more through the karma-consumables nowadays, so that’s actually your main source of karma income anyways. The amount of gold you recieve from the event’s is is greatly outweighted by the amount you get from vendoring lootdrops from the mobs themselves. So why not change it for lvl 80’s somehow. when you reach lvl 80, Instead of the tiny bit of karma and gold, you’re rewarded with something else for completing events. I’m not entirely sure what it should be. Maybe a loot bag or something (I knwo there are lootbags everywhere, but kitten , we love opening them!). It could be called event-loot bag or someting. And they could stack in the right side of the screen just over the reward chests you receive. They shouldn’t appear next to each other like the chests but rather just stack like normal items in your inventory. The bags could maybe contain a but of gold, som karma and a few crafting materials.
My point is, I don’t think people aren’t doing regular events because they find them boring, but simply because they aren’t rewarding enough. It’s not worth while traveling to a different zone to complete the events, because it’s simply not worth your time. So yeah, a system where the rewards became greater as you completed more events within a certain zone sounds like a really good idea. But maybe you should reach somekind of limit, so that when after you’ve done your 5th of 10th dynamic event in a specific zone, you would only receive the usual xp/karma/gold reward. This would give players incentive to go from zone to zone completing a whole lot of events before moving on to the next one.
Man, It sure would be awesome if ArenaNet read every single post on the forum
The only time I’ve been kicked out of a tower was when I entered a zone where the tower blocking event for that tower had already been done. So it reset before I reached the top. If what you say happened to you is true, you have simply been too slow getting back. Cause it takes quite a few minutes for it to reset.
Though I guess all these events can be frustrating if you’re not lvl 80 and there’s no one else around doing the events, I don’t agree that there are too many of them. It’s a clever design choice to get the player out into some of the low level zones and experiencing some of the other dynamic events going on. When I went around finding the towers I often ran into other events and actually found myself doing them (and enjoying it!). I even stumbled on a few events that I hadn’t seen before. That was a really positive experience for me.
I guess people are just too much in a hurry of getting that balloon achievement, that they actually forget to enjoy the content. If you’re too low level for a tower event, run around a bit. You’re bound to bump into some content that’ll help you level faster.
Yeah, this one took me some time because the game kept spawning the same type of champions that I’d already killed So I was stuck on 5/6 for a few days. Keep doing them, and eventually you’ll get them.
Just like Raust, I too have no knowledge whatsoever on game development or server technology. But if they could somehow make the game merge low population zones when the game detects a low amount of players in a specific zone. I don’t really know how this would work, cause then you would be playing alongside players from potentially a lot of different servers. But if it only applies to pve-servers then perhaps it would be possible somehow? The “underflow” servers would of course have to have it’s own timers which would be different from your own server’s, but I’d argue that that’s a small price to pay to be able to experience the content with other players.
And thank you, Raust, for creditting me
I wonder if the skins will be available for ALL champions or if it will be somehow level restricted. If all skins can drop from all champs, Queensdale will have even bigger zerg than now killing champs. But if only high-level zone champs drop good skins, I’d imagine Orr will see more play than currently.
Yeah, I’m exited to see how they’ll handle Queensdale after this patch. Maybe they’ll make the events spawn MUCH less. Would be a logical thing to do.
Hey, guys.
I sorta just wanted to link this post from the DE forum here in the Suggestions-forum with a better hope that the devs will take a look at it. It’s an old post but I really find it relevant still.
It’s about how underpopulated some servers has become which makes the idea of leveling a new alt almost unbearable since the way to lvl 80 has become extremely lonely, and therefore you miss out on a lot of content. Please take a look. Leave a comment. Maybe then someone can create a new topic here (or we can just use this) where people can voice their opinions so, hopefully, the devs will notice.

And now with the new achievement rewards, adding new achievements for completing low level DE’S would certainly make me do them.
OP, I suggest that you post this on the “suggestion” forum as well
I really like the idea of events popping up all over the zone so you have to scatter. The events should be pretty hard. Like, explorable dungeon hard. But not to unreasonable proportions. It could be defend missions, takeover mission, escort mission etc. The world boss events would take longer and be much harder, so of course the rewards should be much greater, so that people would still want to do them. Another important part of this is that the world boss events should be failable. None of them are at this point. Except some of the ones in Orr. The Claw Of Jormag is the “hardest” dragon fight simply because it takes the longest. You might die a few times, but the event will allways succeed.
With failable world boss events player would have to join in and do their part, cause if they don’t there’ll be no loot at all. If the event fails, the boss would simply return from where it came leaving parts of the zone damaged. Players would then have to take back/repair these places before the world boss could start again. I’d say the World boss events should take around 30 minutes or so to complete. With various objectives along the way. A suggestion for the rewards could be like a guaranteed rare + a chest with random loot + an ekstra reward between which you will have to choose. The choices could be something like: A bunch of karma, some extra gold, an unidentified dye or a bag with some lvl-appropiate crafting materials, etc (you get my point). Basically give the player incentives to want to do the world boss even though they get longer. I would certainly do these events. Cause right now, I can’t log on without being like: “I don’t really wanna do these event’s cause they’re so boring and I probably won’t get any good loot anyways. But dammit what IF I got that exotic today?! (Which you never do)”. This is a problem because you’re becoming a mindless drone who is forcing yourself to play content that you aren’t really enjoying. With these changes the world events would feel much more rewarding and fun to play.
That’s my two cents.
I’m very much into this idea! All of my friends stopped playing this game so I run around a lot on my own. I would love some solo dungeons where I could test out and perfect my build. In addition to creating new content for this they could make a single solo-path for each of the existing dungeons which would reward players with the currency for the specific dungeon. Not as much though. maybe 30 instead of 60 the first time. Then 15. But yeah somekind of fractal like solo-dungeon where the difficulty increases with each completion.
Like you say, this is an MMORPG. But I actually think that more people than you’d expect run around on their own. Me being one of them.
Everybody +1 this! Even if you’re not into solo-content
It would actually be kind of fun to see how many players would stick around after this. Regardless of how much I love this game, I probably wouldn’t be one of them
Not sure if OP wants more rewards for himself
Or guild-changers to be punished…
No offense, but this topic does not belong on the “suggestion” forum.
The title Guild Wars is refers the lore that preceeds Gw1 if I’m not mistaken. It’s not necessarily a reference to the player created guilds. Try to search for some lore videos, that adress this subject. WoodenPotatoes on youtube has an excellent Guild wars lore-series.
Come on guys. Bump this up, even though you don’t play as an Asura It won’t hurt you in any way…
Your suggestion would be very flawed. Let’s say you’re fighting a champion along side a large group of players. The champion gives you a poison condition, then proceed to target another player. This would actually mean breaking combat, removing conditions, and healing back to full hp simply because the mob is not “engaging” you anymore. That would be illogical.

So this has been bugging me ever since release. I picked the Asura cause I really think they are a cool race with interesting lore and awesome animations. But one thing, and this is not a tiny thing i would argue, is that the weapon models look waaay too small on Asuras. It’s really a shame, because a lot of the end game content of Gw2 revolves arounf making your character look the coolest. Weapons are a huge part og this. It’s what drives you to farm hours on end for rare materials, so you can craft an epic looking weapon. I often see cool weapon skins wich I’d love to take my time farming for, but then when I preview the items on my character I simply get disappointed and decide to drop it.
I get that the Asura race is very small, but it seems like ArenaNet has really exaggerated when scaling the weapons down to “Asura-size”. I would love to make a legendary for my Asura, but if my Bolt turns out looking the size of a dagger equipped on a human, then I’m just not gonna bother.
I’m not suggesting that they should be the size of human weapons, but a slight increase (maybe 10-20%) would really do the trick. I know I’m not alone on this part. I found this post on the Asura-section here on the forums, but it’s very old and it seems like it’s been buried by now, so Anet would never see it. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/asura/One-problem-with-Asura-Tiny-weapons/first#post120871
The post talks about the same issues with lots of players agreeing.
I decided this post would qualify for the suggestion forum, since… Well it’s basically a suggestion that I feel is much needed.
I hope more of you will give a thumbs up on this, so maybe the devs will consider doing someting about it.
See you all in Tyria.
Best regards, Arellious Mecatus.
Crafting the rares yourself is pretty expensive nowadays because of the increasing prices of materials. So unless you have a lot of gold to burn I’d suggest using the forge. Besides that simply doing events and dungeons nets you a rare from time to time. I’ve recently begun saving all whites, blues and greens. And then throwning them into the Mystic forge. I’ve got quite a few rares this way already. But remember, you only get ectoes from rare or exotic items lvl 68 and above.
Yes.
You have to have 400 in the respective crafting profession.
Plus you have 100% chance of recovering the runes.
Black Lion kit has a 50% chance of salvaging rare items. That means Ectos. The amount of ectos you get has nothing to do with the salvage kit though. If you get any ectos you get between 1-3.
Best post I ever read. I REALLY want a legendary, but I REALLY DON’T want to commence this almost-endless grind that is required. I really have no idea how ArenaNet thought this was a good idea to begin with. It’s the most grindy, chore-like thing I’ve ever played. It’s completely against what Gw2 stands for. And it’s the complete opposite of the experience of the entire game up to lvl 80. I hope with all my heart that they change this. Cause naturally players will want to acquire these weapons after how Anet hyped them. I expected them to be hard to come by but not THIS hard. The suggestion OP makes regarding map completion etc. would be fair. Because it still requires lots of dedication and hard work. But it’s doable. The current system is also doable. If you are able to play 8-10 hours a day. But most players have lives, jobs, families and friends outside the world of Gw2. Maybe they’re only able to play 8-10 hours per week. In many cases much less. They don’t have the time required to attain these weapons.
