Few post-feature pack issues

I too have noticed this.
Before the September Feature 2014 I had 60 fps throughout the game with the exception of loading and when a good lot of people came together and started fighting (frames then dropped to around 30 or even 20 fps.

Ironically I believe it was said that fps were to increase after this feature pack?

Similarly (ironically I mean), I can no longer have my mini out in most places, in fact I have not had any luck having my mini out anywhere other than in cities. I get the error that there are too many players and therefore my mini has been automatically hidden. Strangely I still get this error and problem even after being asked to volunteer to move to another map as there are too few players currently. 0.o That, and as I said, in very populated cities my mini does show up…

Lastly I seem to have lost about 3 of my minis that I had previously deposited…

Very, very curious!

Still enjoying the new features though!

Expansion Talk

I want to start a friendly discussion on the idea of an expansion to GW2.

As far as we know ArenaNet has no plans for an expansion and hopes to replace expansions with the Living Story. The LS progresses the story of the game and in the first season added temporary content in the form of a couple dungeons, some mini games and events, some that stuck and many that left as soon as the LS installment ended. The first season also gave us one new map. Season 2 just started and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens but as it stands now, after 2 years, the core game has not grown really at all. I believe strongly that ANet CAN bring everything that an expansion would bring through the LS, but if that is what they are going to do ultimately.. they will have to step it up a lot in what the episodes bring to the game as far as content.

With that said, I think ANet should do an expansion. An expansion could expand the world of the game, hopefully introduce another class and perhaps another playable race, new dungeons and just a lot more content. The LS can do this too, but much slower IMO. An expansion would also make news on gaming websites and probably bring a lot more new and pre-existing players to the game. It would also bring in revenue for the game and company which is key to the success of this game. Personally I would be more than willing to pay for an expansion, especially if it meant supporting the company and the game and adding new content. And I think most of the community would feel the same.

Adding an expansion could have some negative effects as well. One being that opening up a large new mass of the map could cause a lot of the current maps to become less populated. BUT, with the megaserver and new players I think this wont be that much of a problem. ANet could do a lot to prevent this anyways just by adding new features to the game that promote returning to existing content. For example adding Orders (priory, vigil, whispers) missions that promote existing content or adding unique skins from specific content such as dungeons and world bosses could encourage players to spread out throughout all of the world.

Here is a video that inspired me to make this post. It says a lot of what I said and a lot more:

I fully agree, and also would happily pay for an expansion pack, as would my other-half, and my friends.

Will there be a new playable race?

As a huge fan of the Tengu, I honestly want them to be a playable race as soon as possible. But they would most likely release them with either an expansion or another big feature pack like we had in April. As far as developing them with armor, personal story, and voice acting; that could already be a work in progress behind all the living story projects at Arenanet.

It makes sense that a new playable race will be brought in with an expansion.
I understand that the Tengu were worked on in the past and scrapped due to lack of time. If this is true, then perhaps the Tengu will be finished to be the next playable race along with another playable race.

That said…
Please add the Hylek as a playable race!
I know that the less humanoid the more work, but so far GW2 has gone way beyond all other MMOs and the next huge milestone could be non-humanoids as (a) playable race(s). Somethings are worth the extra work. I hope GW2 will continue to blow all other MMOs out of the water.

Called to Service mission/talking to Gavin?

I have had this quest bug on me several times with two different characters. I can always get to the point in which I need to speak to Gavin upon reaching the cave exit, but then either nothing happens after talking to him, or I cannot talk/interact with him at all and he just stands or kneels there.
I’ve gotten past it by resetting it (twice with my first character and once with my second).

This problem occurred yesterday (May 8th, 2014) and today (May 9th, 2014).
