“I’ve had invisible thieves magically catch up to me while I have a huge lead and a speed buff. When they get to me, they still have plenty of initiative to quickly stun and finish me off.”
—-Thieves can be the most mobile class in the game. You don’t need initiative to stop someone (ex: Devourer Venom).
“I’ve had thieves take me down to 0 health nearly instantly.”
—-Glass cannon with backstab build & might stacking can essentially 1 shot most undergeared/semi geared people.
“I’ve had thieves take me down to 0 health nearly instantly, while invisible.”
—-Everyone already knows about the culling issues by now. Push tab and continue to attack them, it isn’t that much harder to do. I’ve beaten other thieves 2v1 with their model only rendering for short amounts of time, you just need to work around it.
“I’ve had thieves perma-stealth only to taunt me and others nearby with emotes — sometimes for several minutes.”
—-You cannot perma stealth. Chances are, you didn’t catch them while they had the debuff up.
“I’ve seen thieves kill player after player, only to escape when enough players try to intervene. This is not some one hit wonder 3 minute build. It’s the de-facto thief spec.”
—-It is called an immobilize. Use it.. Thieves who run from me rarely get away any more.
“Enough is enough. I can’t tell who’s running 3rd party programs or who is simply exploiting a broken class mechanic, but this needs to stop.”
—-If there is an exploit (doubt it), I am sure it will be addressed. Other than that, you just need to improve your own playstyle. Don’t roll w/ glass cannon gear/spec if you keep getting kittened. If you have problems keeping up with thieves, get yourself some immobilizes. If you still cannot beat thieves 1v1, then queue up for some spvp matches and find yourself some thieves to duel and learn from. Make a thief and learn the skills/mechanics. I had some issues myself at first, but it doesn’t even faze me any more.
People like you would rather complain about non-issues than try and get better at a game.
If you die to vital shot in 4 seconds, this is more of a “L2P” issue than anything else tbh..
Move onto your next game, so you can qq and “unsub” once again, when you inevitably get destroyed. This cycle will continue until you finally put forth some effort at improving yourself (vs qq’ing and quitting).
…yeah there’s no way you’d convince me the points in DA are wasted.
Consider being more open minded, especially if you’ve only run this spec for a few hours.
I currently run 25/0/30/15/0. Our trait lines are very similar but the trait choices are almost entirely different. I think you’re overvaluing self-healing and undervaluing condition removal and a frequent, free AoE blind. Moving faster in stealth is amazing, you’re much more likely to get out of danger as well as get to your opponent when they move. I’d be surprised if most of your targets stay in one place after a CnD, especially since your not using Devourer venom (which you should consider since you traited quick venoms). You talk about your spec and 1v1, you should be 3v1’ing, no joke.
Wild Bill plays very similarly to me, but better, check his videos out.
Could you link Wild Bill please?
I think I see the issue here..
A lot of people tend to overestimate their abilities, and go into PvP with the mindset that they are “better” than others. You may think you are the king of 1v1, and when you lose to class X, they are either overpowered or there is something fundamentally wrong with YOUR class. Maybe you lost to another thief? Lets chalk that up to gear difference.
You cannot think this way.. If you wish to do better, drop this form of thinking altogether and focus on improving yourself. Do not beg ANet for buffs to your class, or nerfs to others.
Plenty of thieves are doing REALLY well in pvp. Sure, they are better in SPvP than they are in WvW, but you have to play to your strengths in WvW. I believe I read someone else post this earlier, but try and move in a small group and assault bases, eliminate supply, and generally harass the enemy however you can.
It doesn’t seem like you wanted to improve at all OP, because you neglected to post your build, weapon choices, etc. You merely posted “fixes” to abilities you thought were broken. Think about it this way, not all the abilities are meant to be good in every situation. Try and switch them out depending on the situation.
I realize that some people are too prideful (or arrogant) to recognize that they may need to do some self improvement, but nobody likes to be bad (or wrong).
It is true that not all the suggestions posted here will be helpful to you, and some people are acting childish and flaming, but you can ignore that. Take the good suggestion and try to improve yourself. If possible, record your PvP session and try and spot mistakes/positioning issues that are obvious.
You wont get better unless you work towards it, so good luck.
