Attunement is the wrong word for this. We already have attunements in the game and attuning yourself to to something means swapping skills out for other skills. See: Elementalist and Revenent.

The problem with warrior is that they’re all stances. All they can really do is rely on their weapon skills for damage or utility, the rest of their bar, save headbutt, is dedicated towards staying alive.

The biggest counter I see to a warrior is to not get hit. If they can’t hit you with their burst skills, then they flounder really quickly under pressure.

I am not trying to make my self feel superior I am just laying out things how I see them.
My perspective of the scene has always been the majority of the community suffers from dunning–kruger syndrome. My self at times included. I just choose not let outcomes of matches or a number control my enjoyment of the game. I make my experience an enjoyable and realistic one. You can too.

Again, you don’t know me. You’re misrepresenting what I am talking about. It has nothing to do with thinking I (or anyone here) thinks that they are top 10 super-bad-cool-guy. It’s that they are trying to legit play some games and get better, but end up with really obviously flawed teams and it makes them feel helpless. It is something anet could address. This game isn’t DOTA2 or LoL. It doesn’t have the playerbase installed that anet can only use the numbers.

Now that I crawled out of bronze and are now into mid-silver. My matches have been a lot better. It feels like normal PvP again with our team losing because of skill, rather than dropouts and deadbeats. It’s a lot more fun. But it was frustrating at first and that’s why people are complaining on the forums.

I can +1 the idea that ranked should solely be teams of 5. You certainly won’t get any salt on this forum about random DCs or scrub players, because the only one whos fault it is to play with scrub-tier players is your own.

In all honesty from the way some of you describe this issue, its like you guys think way to highly of your selves and let a near intangible number manages your level of satisfaction of the game. Which if that is the case, I feel truly sorry for you and don’t see how I can reason with that kind of logic at all.

I like how you misrepresent people in order to make yourself feel superior.

I honestly think I am high-silver to low-gold level of player. The fact that I have to slam my forehead against a concrete wall to get to even that level is super-frustrating. That’s not challenge. That’s grind.

There are people with 10 matches played in the top 10-20 range. 10 Placement matches shouldn’t have such a huge factor in matchmaking. If they started playing and were low level, eventually they would be dropped down, because the reason they lost would rest solely with them. But it would take a considerably less amount of time before they started winning matches and then would be placed in somewhere they belong.

Consider then someone who may belong in platinum, but gets stuck in bronze through no fault of their own. They would have to grind hundreds of matches in order to get there.

Why aren’t you just playing those 100 games? The only difference between placement matches and normal matches is the hidden rating at the beginning. But if you can see your rating after 1, 10 or 100 games doesn’t really matter.

Because other people would be also be in the placement matches at mixed levels, instead of forced to play with only people of a certain league.

I think you misunderstand the point of the video: luck is a myth,.

Duh. But dice rolls aren’t, and that determines who you are paired with/against.

You people seem to misunderstand.

It’s not about where you are at the end of the league. The no-lifers already take care of eating all that space up. It’s about where you start and if you want to keep having fun.

I have already worked myself out of bronze and into mid-silver with only 60 games played. But it takes a considerable amount of effort and is blood boiling.

Nobody thinks it’s some cosmic force causing them to be placed into bronze. The placement matches are the worst thing ever and grinding out of them to get some decent teams is unfun.

These “got mine” people have no idea how infuriating the dice roll for the placement matches are.

The fact there was a PvE player in the top 5 only shows how random it feels to people.

I somehow managed to place in the top 5 after my placement matches (won 9 lost 1). Not really sure how I feel about that because I know I’m not good enough to be here at all. Now I’m really hesitant to play more matches because I’m probably going to get beat down to low /mid plat (where I probably belong) and that just won’t be fun to lose so many matches in a row.

Honestly I’d have preferred to have started low so I could climb instead of starting off high and being expected to fall.

However I’m also considering just playing once every 3 days and see how high I can end at.

Yeah just me, some PvE scrub who played auramancer during S1/2 coming back to get more shinies.

Something either mandatory or at the very least very heavily rewarded to at least run once. Rotations, when to cleave vs when to stomp, what “home” and “Far” are, map timings, etc.

People tend to zerg rush a point and don’t seem to understand that there’s more to pvp then deathmatch, even in Ranked.

I agree need to revamp the one that they have and add important issues like those mentioned above in. Either that or revamp the maps and make them death match.

A tutorial would fix this better than a revamp if the mode entirely.

I played pvp since release. We actually HAD a pvp tutorial way back then. Of course you could only access it once! Never again! You were shipped to the small island south of HOTM and went through an event with an NPC talking….and…centaurs….and capture points…..I can’t even remember it was so long ago. I don’t what happened to it. I think the tutorial is either account-bound or ANet took it out later on.

Well it taught what points were and how to stomp. It didn’t teach higher-level things like rotations and when to engage a point

I don’t have a guild, I rather don’t like them very much. As a result raiding and guild halls are kind-of worthless to me.

Anyone that has more knowledge know if 3 maps (5 including the PvP/WvW ones) and some classes are the only things in the expansion? If so I think I am going to wait on this being a more worthy price.

I was there for Halloween. I tried my hardest to get one from a chest. RNG never gave it to me. It’s literally the only weapon I have ever wanted in the game and it’s too expensive to actually buy on the trading post. The Scythe Skin isn’t even available anymore.

These skins were under a stupid RNG system before and need to come back. Please!

greatsaw is still obtainable for those of you who REALLY want it,
spend several months of your life grinding to buy it like the rest of us did,
but if you decide you don’t want it that much,
then don’t remove its value for those of us that do.

Fake supply and demand. I will gladly have the market actually fill up again.

Or even better, have RECOLORS like I said. The old one doesn’t lose its “value” (lol) but new ones can be appreciated by the rest of the playerbase that have lives outside of the game.

Just replace some trinkets with cleric ones. Hell, I just replaced 2 zerker rings with 2 celestial rings, and I don’t notice the reduced healing at all. You get Empowered Allies now anyway, so you’ll still be doing higher damage.

The fact that I can use Defy Pain, Cleansing Ire, Merciless Hammer means I’m much more survivable in zergs now.

I think people are talking about PvP, You can’t replace rings in PvP.

I think the problem is that people don’t see the bottom when the top already has them scrambling to their browsers/email program. While it might be more obstructive, the warning should really sit directly below the subject rather than the bottom of the message body.

Don’t all ArenaNet emails have an icon on the side as well though?

I mentioned Healing Surge in the other thread. It’s been renamed to “To the Limit” and is categorized as a shout. It also gives a flat 25 endurance to yourself and nearby allies (600 radius).

Healing Signet now gives 6 seconds of Resistance on activation.

Ofc lets buff shoutbow to its TOP!! because thats all warrior is?

What about other builds?? why cant zerker wars be a thing in pvp?

Gotta love Shadow Refuge. It’s like a thief’s self-created prison which they mustn’t leave, a treacherous bright red circle that tells all of their enemies, “cast AoEs here to win”.

Sadly in Courtyard it’s super effective because they can perma stealth all around the map. Making it a hunt to find the little blips on your radar before they poof again!

So I just encountered this team in unranked. It was kinda funny, they had 3 thieves with Shadow Refuge and all 5 pick courtyard. They kill 1 teammate, then shadow refuge then entire rest of the game until time ran out.

Question to people that hate the Cele bruiser meta. Why? Can anyone please articulate their thoughts on the toxicity of Cele bruisers for the enjoyment of the game.

I didn’t read the rest of this post, but screw it. Here’s my reasons why I hate this meta:

  1. It Minimalizes Working Builds – No one plays bunker guardian. Why? Did it get weaker? No. We just gained the ability to have builds that work in pretty much every situation. The teamwork factor that comes with proper rotations is gone. It’s just about matching numbers and being a better cele. There are no “jobs” anymore. I don’t make a build with the intend of a single goal like bursting, support or bunkering, I make a build with the intent of being able to do everything.
  2. Certain aspects of play are gone – Rotating the right stuff to the right place has turned into just matching numbers. Watching out for bursts is pretty much gone. It’s just outsustain right now. You might go for a focus fire, but that’s not really the same thing. Stomps are also pretty rare now, especially in team fights. No bunker guardian made it so players are pretty much only going for DPS outs, even against things like warriors! DPSing out a target isn’t really that interesting to me. The play of trying to maintain DPS so you can get a stomp off is a lot more interesting.
  3. Mobility isn’t a counter – These comps play on all three points. They’re pretty kitten fast too unless you’re taking a necromancer. Thief, ele and engi are all really fast.
  4. They’re really hard to duel against – It’s not about getting a good burst off, it’s about getting multiple bursts off while not letting them even get one. If I want to kill a cele engi on power nades, I’ve found that I need anywhere from 2-4 really good bursts to get them down. In a row. They really only need to maintain pressure via burning and occasionally get a few hits in.
  5. It DOES take less skill – Is the skill ceiling still high? Yes. There are a lot of things you can do with cele engi and ele to make yourself the best in the world. But the punishment for kittening those things up is WAY lower than most builds. On burst builds, kittening up, having bad positioning or focusing the wrong guy could equal death. Don’t even get me started on 100 mines and other like yolo builds.
  6. Burning On Cele is Dumb – This goes a bit beyond cele, but I think it’s a big reason why it works. Engineer has incendiary powder which is really hard to avoid. Ele has drake’s breath which requires two dodges to fully avoid and burns you for eternity (12s on a 6s recharge). Combustive Shot burns everyone. If you miss with this, uninstall GW2.
  7. Sustain is really hard to stop – For warrior, it’s healing signet which they never use and traits that regen them. For engineer, it’s a 1/2 cast time skill, backpack regenerator and transmute. For ele, it’s a dodge in water, small healing on all casts, regeneration and two skills you can actually interrupt. The only real good counter is poison, but they remove it so much that you need a crazy amount of poison to do it!
  8. Games going to Timer – Because there’s three decaps almost all the time, it’s boring to play and watch. I vastly prefer the super active fights where doing something wrong can spell death, not a slight loss in health. I want people to be making PLAYS, not just trying to stall the game/fights. “OH SNAP HE JUST GOT THE BURST OFF AND HE GOES DOWN” instead of “OH SNAP HE JUST GOT THE BURST OFF AND I THINK IF HE CAN GET LIKE 4 MORE IN THE NEXT 10 SECONDS WE MIGHT SEE SOMEONE DIE”.
  9. In the ideal game, every build is equally viable – Cele is a meta right now. People want to play their style of builds and not be worse off for it.

    The concept of a build being able to do everything is broken. It’s called “Holes in Roles”. There are no decently enough sized holes in these builds.

I understand the idea of exclusive stuff to a year. But the fact that in 2012 it was all RNG and gold was a lot harder to get, meant that the skins weren’t always available to players.

So I ask to please bring them back this year. Even if they have to be in the Gem Store. Or worth 10 claim tickets. Please just have them available.

Especially the Greatsaw skin.

Sadly, conquest is the only game mode that rewards staying in one place. Which is why you don’t see them in PvE or WvW often.

That said, the fact you see them in Conquest counts for something. A necromancer can trait 100% into minions but they get exterminated really quickly, unlike turrets. It’s a reason you don’t see minions outside of the Flesh Golem. They die super quickly because they can be critically hit and have conditions applied to them.

I am not saying turrets are OP or anything, but why is that the reason they can’t be critically hit or have conditions applied to them? Because they can’t receive boons or critically hit themselves?

So, I don’t have any problem with turret engineers. They are what they are. Good bunkers. I just wanted to throw this out here to think what people thought about it.

What if turrets could be hit critically? As far as I am aware they can’t at the moment.

Also what if Turrets could take conditions. Perhaps bleeding wouldn’t make any sense, but what about vulnerability or burning?

As far as I am aware, most pets in the game can take both, but not turrets. Is the fact that they are stationary a huge issue?

As I said, either way I don’t care. Leave them as they are, I just thought I would make a topic for the sake of discussion.

Flesh Golem, as silly as it is, Doesn’t work underwater because of the Charge attack it gets. I am guessing the animation caused it to do really silly things and the unique rigging on the model made it hard to animate new swimming, charging, attacking, etc animations.

I can only imagine before they made it unable to use underwater it could do some pretty stupid things, like charge straight up in the air and act like free willy.

WvW and PvP would be ruined.

It’s one of those things that are nice in theory, but if you have PvP the game becomes a nightmare to balance.

Go look/play Champions Online. Before Archetypes were made there was only Freeform, where you could do literally anything you wanted.

So of course PvP was just maximum glitch-abusing DPS builds for years.
