I agree with your post. I am starting to believe that some people will prop up whatever miserable story scraps thrown at us regardless of how poorly conceived. From the beginning I have heard that all these events will be knitted together into cohesive story. Is that what some of you really think this is. A story you care about, that you will remember long after GW2 has been removed from you hard drives?

Story point I wanted to see. Queen Genna announces that the pavilion was constructed for the purpose of testing Tyria’s greatest heroes. Why, because she wants to send a contingent from all the races to explore the ancient parts of Tyria, like say the Crystal desert, or Fire Isles. It would both unify the races for a common purpose and open new UNEXPECTED story lines.

I just want more!

Ill conceived, half baked. paper thin personality, cartoon, uninspired, and soulless.

Will GW3 remember these stories?

Not at all. There are so many fantastic memories from GW1 spanning all three campaigns. Story elements were dark, mysterious, and epic. Living world content is juvenile at best, obviously engineered for a younger audience or those who unconcerned about a deep fantasy narrative. Scarlet as a villain is one dimensional, like a character from Saturday morning cartoons. This is more about new areas to farm because item/material accumulation seems to be the only form of progression now.

It is almost like they have forgotten just how cool the original game lore was.

It would be nice to see trait changes that provide a means for breaking stun and or give stability without cantrips. So tired of using same utility bar.

For what format are you playing? WvW or PvE?

And yes, sigil of battle and sigil of energy share a cooldown.

PvE, Dungeons, and WvW. The idea is that I can change weapons/armor to fit the situation. I had initially looked at more celestial pieces but never like how the numbers worked out.

These choices look fine to me. The only thing problem though is that the sigils of battle and energy cannot be used together in a weapon set. I believe they share a cool-down timer with each other. So when you swap attunements to proc them, only the main hand sigil of battle will proc and not the off-hand one.

I was not aware of this. My decision to use both sigils was based on a D/D build guide that claimed this was possible. Thanks for the information!!

Hello all,

I am really struggling with the gear choices for my elementalist.I currently use PVT armor with exotic clerics. I am reasonably happy with the setup but the time has FINALLY come to upgrade my elementalist to T3 armor and ascended trinkets. I have read a few posts in these forums concerning this topic with some great feedback but wanted to post my gear setup for expert evaluation. I realize gear choice is basically a matter of play style but therein lies my problem. I enjoy running a myriad of build types, Staff, D/D, S/D, S/F, and even D/F. For that reason I want to make gear choices that will support a wide variety of builds.

Reasoning behind choices
All but the coat will be T3. This is why I used berserker coat paired with other knights pieces. This allows me to switch out the coat as needed with other stats. Same with the weapons. I currently have PVT AC daggers, best looking daggers in game, and plan on augmenting stat changes with weapons swaps too.
Where I’m struggling is the choices of ascended gear. I wanted a touch of all stats except condition damage. This is where I’m looking for advice. Are there better combination that will provide decent power/crit burst damage while maintaining survivability.

I only plan on doing this once so it has to be done the best way possible.

Thanks for your time and advice!

Rebound, I’m sure you knew I was going to say that no one is forcing you to use the Gem Shop for anything. Unlike a non free to play system where you either hand over the $15 or you get to sit at a login screen. It’s no comparison.

I’ll give Anet $15 per month if it will encourage more emphasis on designing better content rather than more mini pets or other gem store items. Where is the horizontal progression we were promised. My guild would enjoy having a hall to build and furnish. Why can’t we have new dungeons to explore that don’t disappear after a single month?
However it’s not just that. What they are releasing is lackluster, and that’s being kind. I am not going to rage quit because of one poorly conceived instance, but I will leave eventually due to lack of interest. I love GW2 and hope to play for the foreseeable future but there game design discussions kill player longevity.

This can't Tyria's future

You had such a great start with GW2. Why have you decided to take Tyria is in this oh so uninteresting direction. I don’t care about the consortium. People being relocated to that island after the event of F&F just is believable because any sane person WOULD HAVE GONE HOME! Now you give us an instance that is no better than a half baked mini game with NO explanation as to why or what we are doing.

I played GW1 for nearly 3 years. In that time I was immersed in a world of mysticism and dark magic. A place with an ancient past dripping with incredible lore. Now Tyria is a place pf poorly conceived characters and plot lines that FAIL to immerse. The plot line is infantile and as about as engrossing a SciFi channle original movie.

PLEASE don’t let this be the future of GW2. Please step back and rethink where the game is going! Throw out this consortium crap and reconnect us to Tyria’s original lore. Where have the god’s gone? What has transpired in the Underworld and Fissure of Woe? What secrets lie berried in the Crystal Desert? What evil waits patiently to reemerge at the Fire Isle? All this to delve into and yet you punish us with a watered down story of capitalist exploiting refugees on some island that only gets visited because of the MF buff.

I AM NOT A TROLL! I love this game but for the past few weeks all you have done is make me home sick for GW1. I want to continue to play. I want to spend more money with you. But to do that you have to do your part as well. I’m one player so this probably want have any impact. However please consider I can’t be the only person who feels this way.

Thanks for your time.

Nice change suggestions.

Dragon’s tooth – definitely need a change. Although full cast drop would be awesome I’d settle for shorter hang time.

Rock Barrier – I prefer the toughness. It adds a lot to survivability when wearing PCC gear.

Great post!

Making Tyria better

in Suggestions

Below are a few suggestions that I feel will make the game better. Most of this is probably nothing new but perhaps repetition will push an idea closer to the top of the pile.

1) Group missions similar to those in Guild Wars 1.
2) Skill training. The ability to learn new skills that can be swapped in and out of weapons. Place whatever restriction you need on this ability for balance.
3) New elite skills obtained by skill challenges or other PvE activities. Forgive the criticism but most class elites are generally useless.
4) 4v4 arenas akin to RA/TA in Guild Wars 1. It is a much more accessible form of PvP for new players.
5) World expansion. This could be either new zones, or dungeons, preferably for level 80’s
6) More instanced guild missions. Why not guild specific dungeons.
7) Bring back the mystique and lore of Guild wars. Tyria has such a rich lore that goes well beyond dragons. What happened to the 6 gods, where did they go? Could we ever join them there?
8) GvG!!!!

None of this is impossible for a company with so much talent and creativity. All of the above would add significant longevity to the game, which is what we all want to see.

Thanks for your time

D/D is THE BUILD right now. but that does not mean that there are not alternatives. Proponents of D/D remind me of Boon/Prot monk build from GW1. Everyone touted it is the absolute best, refusing to run anything else. That is until Anet nerfed it leaving many monks struggling to adapt new builds.

Versatility = win

At a minimal increase AOE cap to 10. Class skills aside though I’d like to see the AOE cap for siege weapons removed entirely. Break the back of the zerg for more organized WvW.

I saw this thread soon after coming up with this build.

http://goo.gl/AkQn3

IT IS NOT A PVP BUILD! It is for PvE/Dungeons. Gear choices are based on things I own or can make. Fire shield on my entire group would seem to result in a big kick to DPS. I play D/D most of the time, but honestly needs some versatility. I wish ArenaNet would consider revitalizing Sceptor/Focus skills.

Thanks
