Invisible Shoes! What the?!

After reading through 6 pages of text, I fail to see why this had to be turned into a prestige item so rare and expensive as to be pretty much unobtainable.

Going by the logic of the game’s UI itself, this should be a checkbox, like other armour slots have, pure and simple.

Imagine having to pay 2300g for the ability to hide your guardian’s gloves , for example, then having to pay the same for your mesmer’s shoulder piece, only to find that it’s so rare, there isn’t even a single piece for sale.

This should be about having the ability to hide your foot slot armour piece, not turn it into an actual piece, with all the impracticalities that this brings.

…and then adding a drop rate this low.

It actually feels mean spirited in a way.

Not cool Anet, not cool.

"Victory or Death" Bug [merged]

I have just finished Victory or Death, so at least for me the bug that prevented progression at the giants seems to be fixed.

I have encountered however two other smaller bugs.

The biggest one starts where it used to bug out and stop progression, when we first board the airship.

Throughout all of these first airship missions; killing the giants, killing the Mouth, and killing the dragons afterwards, Destiny’s Edge and the other pact soldiers don’t engage the fight.

They all stand inside the airship doing nothing.

I assume this to be a bug, as before the airship, and afterwards when we board the Glory of Tyria, they do join and help the player.

The second smaller bug occurred right after I killed Zhaitan. A few seconds before he died, something called Tendrils of Zhaitan spawned, then persisted after Zhaitan was dead and the Pact was celebrating with fireworks.

So with a new patch looming and the big hype train coming, is this issue finally going to be addressed, or are Anet just kinda hoping we will forget about it and maybe it will go away?

I find it more and more difficult to enjoy the new Living Story updates, which are good storywise, while the Personal Story remains butchered the way it is.

Is it even the same company doing both?

I agree wholeheartedly with the first poster. All this copy and paste has become a bit too tiresome.

I wish I could say I was expecting more, but I wasn’t, so no disappointment here. Just… sadness for what could be.

I logged off the game to get the new patch, and now I get a red error message claiming a connection error. The menu seems to freeze too, as I can’t get rid of it by clicking the X , I have to use task manager to do it.

Good start.

Precognition! Go!

Tallybunny.4782

Well, in terms of actual things I expect to see, I don’t know.

Woodenpotatoes has some very interesting theories that would be cool to see come to life, that guy really does more to hype this game for me than the company that produces it.

Unfortunately everything I see in the trailer looks recycled from previous patches. Is there anything new at all in it?

Meaning, I expect recycling. I hope for a lot more, but that’s what I expect.

Tallybunny.4782

Well. I’m cautiously optimistic.

I see potential, but…

I worry that they haven’t told us what comes after this very short and (imo) lacklustre season.

I fear we will have one weak (judging by the very lazy trailer) patch, and then be left waiting again for months, with little or no information.

That is what I believe will happen, but I have become very jaded as of late concerning this company.

Taking a Look at Innovation

I believe this is a good idea., I’ve always enjoyed a map more whenever there is the illusion that the map might go on for miles and miles, even though it doesn’t.

Silverwastes does feel like a fishbowl, perhaps more than any other map So does Dry Top, but it manages to avoid it for the most part by being clever, and a canyon. Canyons are boxed in by design. Plus it’s pretty :P

Silverwastes doesn’t have that feeling. It has left me wondering how it will connect to the next maps, if it will at all. From what I can see, it may well not, and forever be just another isolated (wide) pseudo-canyon map, with only one entrance to it through Brisbane. Thus giving it that “fishbowl” feel.

What I would like to see is the illusion of the next map, when we reach a map border. A low rez version in the distance, a tease at faraway lands.

That might bring on the added immersion that you’re talking about.

After having played the new content for Living Story, I must say that I’m confused and having a hard time getting excited about it.

Why?

Because on one hand, we have a Living Story storyline that is lore heavy, and looks and feels incredible, and on the other hand, we have a Personal Story that is filled with plot holes, and makes no sense from level 70 onwards.

Worse, these changes were made recently, and on purpose. Much like the Living Story.

So which is it?

Are Anet feeling great one day, making great content, and hurting their own product the next?

What is that? Does that bode well for the future?

Is the Personal Story issue something that will eventually get the same love that Living Story is getting, or is this silence Anet’s way of hoping the issue will just die down and go away?

And should we really get behind one, and ignore the other? It’s the same product after all.

I think enough time time has passed for the answer to be clear.

Their attention is, sadly, elsewhere. They simply don’t care about their playerbase, it’s all about the money.

Over the past few weeks I’ve gone from fervent GW2 player to someone who still wants to play the game but can’t.

Why can’t I? Because I can’t log on without feeling deeply disrespected by the game. It’s blatant money grabbing tactics insult my intelligence, as much as this silence disrespects my good will.

I have gone from spending several hours a day playing this, to logging on to do dailies and logging off, to not logging on at all.

Let me be clear, I want to play this game, this isn’t anger, it’s simply sadness, this whole situation is just sad.

Arenanet, people play games to feel good, not bad.

As long as you keep ignoring this simple fact and instead focus on trying to force us to spend yet more money (new Gem/Gold thing is an example) you will keep bleeding numbers, and you will ultimately fail.

As for me, you have managed to push yet another fan of the game away, so congratulations.

I used to love creating a new character and progressing it through the story. It gave everything meaning.

Over two years ago, when I first started playing this, in the final betas, the sense of wonder and freshness, the thrill of exploration, were intoxicating.

Yet the last character I made was a nightmare because of the new changes, and the antecipation of reaching level 70 and being faced with the FUBAR’d story made it worse.

I kept waiting and hoping, but no more of that.

I will still log on to unlock the new LS content (because if I don’t you will charge me for it), and play it, for the whole hour that it takes to do that, and then log off again.

That’s the type of game you’ve built, that’s the type of game I’ll play.

Please come back from the dark side, it’s not too late, but as long as it’s buy buy buy, bye bye.

I simply don’t understand why they would do this at all.

I think I read somewhere that the original format made the final chapters too long, but why is that a problem? Since when is more content a problem?

Maybe they were concerned that people would level exclusively on the story, and not by exploring the Orrian areas? Just tweak the experience points you get from each mission, problem solved. I truly don’t get this.

I find it hard to accept that it’s the chinese censor thing as well, but that could well be the case. I just don’t know.

Someone really should be transparent and upfront about this, is that too much to ask?

I have now reached L70 on my thief and my greatest fear has come true, I’m at that moment in the Personal Story, and after so much time, still utter silence from the devs.

I wish there was a way to turn off that green star icon. It feels like a slap in the face each time my eyes wander over at it.

Because I’m just going to ignore the story from this point on, I refuse to go through it.

I feel insulted.

By the silence, and by the cavalier way in which the story was mutilated, turning something which was fine into a sub par product at best, for which this company then has the nerve to ask me to spend some more money on.

To that I say no.

I will not be spending any more money on an inferior product, for this is what Arenanet has chosen to give us at this time. Anyone with a critic mind can see it.

The only reason they still have my traffic is because I still have a friend left in game. Yes one, all others have left.

Arenanet needs to define itself, and it will do so by it’s actions, and by the way in which it communicates with their player base.

Either it is still the company that made the game that I love, or it has just become another uncaring corporate money sucking machine.

Either way, it’s not going to be my money that they suck. All I’m willing to give right now is time, and that is running out.

The story was working perfectly fine before, it didn’t need fixing. Now it does.

I’ve been leveling a thief, I’m rapidly approaching level 70 and dreading it.

I refuse to play the current mangled story, I guess I could say that it has become my greatest fear in this game. If it isn’t fixed I might actually quit this game, and I’m not saying this as some kind of blackmail or pressure.

I don’t want to quit.

A question to the devs. Is this the experience you want to give your players?

Should I be dreading playing your game?

Should I feel insulted or maybe even depressed when I log on, as I’ve seen many be since this latest update?

Or should I log on and say “Oh yeah, let’s play Guild Wars 2, awesome!”

Regardless of the reason, at the end of the day, this is the kind of business you’re in. If your clients aren’t satisfied, you have failed.

Hyped for incoming VIP status in Gem Store!

I did recognize the political doublespeak, which is why I’m worried this might become a reality.

Now, I fully understand different people enjoy different types of experiences, and that’s fine.

If a VIP system floats your boat, more power to you.

To me, however, it would break the fundamentals on which I was brought to this game two years ago, and on which I have been enjoying it more or less on a daily basis since then.

It would no longer be the game I bought, and which I love, so it would be time to move on.

I guess it boils down to a matter of principle.

I understand I’m bumping an old topic, but I feel it’s justified.

This mission is still terribly bugged. I completed it on 2 characters with the following bugs:

- As soon as I die, Jory and Kasmeer vanish from the fight and respawn at their initial location.

- The final Mordrem boss randomly resets it’s health to a full bar.

On my 3rd character attempt, in addition to the two bugs listed above (both did happen) I encountered a couple more bugs:

- The combat sounds vanished leaving only the music (minor annoyance)

- After I killed the Mordem boss, the cut scene froze, leaving me stuck and unable to complete the instance, and forcing me to log out of the game to unfreeze it.

Lol at Mendork. :P

I like this idea. If I understand correctly, it’s a sort of bringing some of the fun of PvP to PvE, but with a couple twists.

For one, it would eliminate the stress of encoutering human enemies, which can be nerve shattering to a beginner. This could add as a sort of middle ground that would maybe, entice people reluctant to go to WvW or PvP to go get a small taste of what it would be like.

Second, after having seen how servers can organize to kill Tequatl, I think that the communities have matured enough to find such a sustained, coordinated effort to hold a map, something not only feasible, but fun.

I hope something like this does get implemented, eventually. It would be fun. ^^

Community Damaging Content

Tallybunny.4782

I find that the Tequatl fight is causing more undue distress and irritation throughout than most.

The ammount of time and effort invested into it simply doesn’t warrant the investment.

Perhaps we were poorly accustomed, perhaps not, the facts remain.

Why should I try to kill Tequatl?

Is it fun?

Is it rewarding?

As I cannot even get into my own map, being doomed to Overflow (the only way to do this is to camp out long before the event ever starts) , I have had a long, stressful, series of failures.

Worse, I don’t feel like I’m at fault for failing here. I have done my fair share of the work. I took the time to learn the fight, I did all that was humanly possible to help it along.

Perhaps scaling is the issue.

Whatever the issue is, I have not had fun (who likes to lose all the time) and I have not felt rewarded at all for my time. In these aspects, this update has failed, and I for one, deeply lament this fact.

The only thing that keeps me getting back right now is stubborness and that will soon fade, and then, regrettably, I shall take my play to greener shores.
