Do the events downscale in enough time that it matters? I doubt it downscales any faster whether the player stays lying dead or WPs. So that part isn’t the problem. The problem is that, while the event is still [as highly upscaled as it was] either way, living players actually contribute, while dead or absent ones don’t.

I don’t think it downscales at all at the specific events since there is only 1 Champ
and existing mobs don’t scale down.

In the early days of 3-Headed Wurm, when there was that scaling bug, some people on ts were using some not-particularly-legal program thing to determine the health. Which was definitely going down as well as up. That could be seen by anyone, anyway, since “super-burns” occurred at later burn phases.

This means that it must be possible for a single mob to downscale.

Depends what the program showed — if it showed % HP then no incorrect. If showed the actual # of HP then could be but is still not a “scaling changed”.

— I think know the program you are talking about and that actually showed the Wurm did NOT scale properly and was NEVER downscaling — Regen, people stopping DPS and paying more attention to other things (like this program), etc.

Haven’t read it all so apologies if anything has already been suggested.

1. The title is very misleading — maybe Gaile can correct it; DEAD not DOWNED.

2. There needs to be an option or something done about the Dead/Downed clogging up the interact “F” Key. Underneath those bodies might be something you need to interract with…could you imagine 50 bodies piled on top of the Teq turrets? Or sometime in the future Anet makes a Zerg event where you need to pick things up?

3. Events don’t scale properly, period – and they never appear to scale down..maybe it’s due to the “reward list” being the same as the “scaling list”? i.e. once someone has tagged a mob long enough to get credit for that mob/event/etc. then they are on the scaling list.

4. Every zone could have a special WP, one that will never be contested, maybe color them Red in the center? When an event is up in the area and you die you get WP’ed to this special WP FOR FREE…you can WP back, yes it may be far but that’s why you get ported for free originally. There could be some checking to see if you are currently being ressed, a 10? second delay once dead, etc.

5. Rezzing the dead is a waste, it’s better to do the DPS yourself then get some dead person up. Yeah there are plenty of situations yadda yadda where the mob has too much HP/regen/whatever where you need more people — but seriously, WP and run the F back.

6. Are the legendaries even an Event? If not why aren’t they?

Not directly about vote kicks but the LFG system has a flaw IMHO in that people can join a party / merge parties without so much as a “by your leave”. It is instantaneous, the system should do the same as when you type /join playername, in that it puts you in a join que to that party and they have to click ok.

With 100% completion on several characters I am seeing — 1 new heart in Caledon Forest and 2 new hearts in Plains of Ashford… any1 know where they are?

I kept getting the “Connection Errors Detected” after password login screen when trying to well login tonight. Haven’t played for a few days; vacation recovery / busy work schedule / state fair / family and friends / yadda yadda. RL > Game; so don’t know if is something ANET did pre or post patch from Rubi’s post in game updates

What I ended up having to fix this is delete the Gw2.dat file and let the updater run. My previous file size was over 19 gig for this file and had a custom server connection for GW2 (from a long dead thread about the download crashing out due to too much bandwidth taken up on their end.)
My new file size of the Gw2.dat = 19.590.535

Try this, let the download run, and hope it fixes some of your issues. They may/probably fixed a lot more than my ‘custom’ connection issues — I hope someone can do a traceroute, login server ping and give us the new ones; seriously aggravating!! I used to be able to download and connect even on patch days in seconds, now am VERY fearful that will take DAYS like before /SIGH

There is definitely some other issues ANET will hopefully fix as I have had to solo many world bosses / champion events in the past week as many others lay there dead complaining about lag / FPS issues / disconnects.

For the last year the graphics / rendering has gotten worse and worse, not just the megaserver / world boss schedule etc. of getting more people into 1 area but my FPS while backed into a corner in an instance (Solo testing etc) used to be 140+ and has never gotten over 68 in the last year or so.

Edit – have been running at 98 FPS in crowded city areas and 24-44 FPS while zoning (seriously something messed up here for years), and 24 or less (down to 8 and used to get minimum of 20) in full zerg combat. Worse than before for high end Even turning settings / shaders down doesn’t help; and even with restored settings things/scenery is rendering much much slower for faraway things.

Have someone lead the NPC’s in and stay with them through their dialogue. It bugs out when everyone runs into the room and the NPC’s stop to do their dialogue but no PC is by them.

Plenty of uses already mentioned — another: Dredge fractal when without a Mesmer.

Very nice if have thief with it also — everyone jumps down and then the thief jumps in and stealths them with their trait.

I disagree Tamerlayne. PvP is not part of the world because it’s a tournament-based instance. This is likely also why dungeons aren’t part of the “world”. They’re strictly instances that are not really “there” until players participate. On the other hand, WvW maps are always there. They could be full or empty or anywhere in between, but they are indeed part of the world and everyone in “PvE land” actually gets buffs and such from people who participate in it.

While in some dungeouns, Use the mini map and choose different map-level and zoom out. Can sometimes see the “real world” that you are a part of.

While in the mists, either PvP or WvW you can zoom out and see all of those maps. They are completely different “worlds”.

Look, I agree it can be frustrating to get the WvW points, which is why one shouldn not wait until the very last to get them. It takes anyone lots of time to complete the world. Start right away to get points in WvW so when you’re down to your last few %, those are NOT in the WvW maps!

—Anyways. The color rotation is the issue, has been for a very long time. ANET can not blame RNG on this, well they can… Once upon a time SOS had the reverse issue of being Top T1 (Green) for how many months on end? But back then you could free transfer at a drop of a hat.

2 suggestions for a solution for ANET: once matchups are determined don’t put #1 as green, #2 as, etc. but instead:

1) create an algorythim for each side of the 3 in a matchup to check what colors they have been the past 4 times. Then check if any given side has NOT been any given color in those past 4 times then make them that color.

Example: SoS has not been Green for the past 4 weeks but have been red and blue so they get to be green. In the same matchup with SoS, FA has not been green nor blue for the past 4 weeks so FA would be blue and SOS would be green and the other server gets to be red by default. Plenty more math to go into it, but the basic gist would be to check the past 4 weeks and force a side that has not been a color for a month+ to be a color.

So it should only take 5-6 weeks to get a color have not been before (6 if get matched with other people who have not also been the same color you have not been)

2) Force matchups between 3 servers to be 3 weeks long and rotate the colors so everyone gets each color once. This way in a given 6 weeks you will be each color twice, you might be the same color twice back to back for the next matchup (blue as last round of matchup 1 and blue as first round of matchup 2)

**All examples are made up, they are not real-world true — please do not take them out of context other than examples.

There is no reason #1 has to be Green etc.. all essentially the same maps..

But you need WORLD completion for a legendary. So, how do you propose that WvW players only get a legendary? Or they don’t deserve one as much as PvE players?

That about sums it up right there. It’s WORLD completion!

WvW is in the Mists, and is NOT in the WORLD. Plain and simple. Thank you for pointing it out.

If WvW’ers want the PVE scum out of their backyard and not clogging up spots that could be taken by more real WuV’ers; then they should be all for getting rid of this ridiculous requirement for map completion that has no business interfering with their precious game play. It isn’t a part of the world and shouldn’t be required for world completion. Heck PvP Mists (same world map as WVW) isn’t required, even SSC isn’t required!

Just went to the vendor that sells these (by the new story instance “Audience with the Master” / token baskets, as had some of these Support Tokens to “deposit” and then delete the corresponding “button” , plus sell the vendor-able lockpicks)

And he has them selling at the same messed up language… definately something bugged about these in regards to language settings; hopefully no other items as the same way.

BTW another “bug” is that I had multiple of these on this character and when turned into the appropriate basket only gave me 1 Button and the entire stack was gone

When looted these show up in another language, characters, Chinese maybe?

Also when viewed they show the proper spaces for En language (my default) but are blank… i.e. [ ] So no “item name”. (grr I put in spaces between the brackets but it doesn’t show… o well forum limitations)

Also when linked by ANY person they show up as blank with the normal yellow brackets around, so same as above. (maybe people of other languages don’t have this issue? It’s probably something introduced with the recent patch to fix language problems: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-July-23rd-2013/first#post2472903 )

None of the achievements show a “Suggested Location” (not all achievements do, but some do – Some JP’s do, but not all – weird that / many Explorer ones, etc.) so:

Is this in the game, or “Coming Soon”???

TY for this item — it is a wonderful addition that one can go back and view the cut-scene on anytime they wish.

Can we get please more of these?

One for each SM dungeon cut-scene would be nice for starters.

Bank slots — can we get a collections tab / or a bank tab for “special items” items like this? (maybe a new item type that is account bound for temporary/event items and a bank tab or 2 just for these item classifications)
If add up all the temporary items (Halloween event, wintersday event, etc. etc.) and one can waste bank space quickly. Especially with the current Anet meta of temporary content…

Just did this achievement last night after several tries.

The fire trails from the Fire Boulders does not count against.
The Agony arrow that inflicts burning does not count against.
The “hot foot” debuff does not count against.

Falling into the lava when running down to the last boss does count.
The active lava founts at final boss fight do count.
Don’t know about the inactive ones, I did dodge roll through an inactive one on the run I received the achievement.

Don’t know if rezzing counts against, don’t see why it would as did get the hot foot debuff a few times but I didn’t stop to rezz anyone on my attempts at fear of not getting it.

Most of the other FotM achievements don’t require finishing the fractal, this one does.

I am curious if there would be quite so many people defending the present state of Ascended gear if the Agony mechanic was implemented across the game world, instead of only in the Fractals.

That’s not to say the OP is rationalized. He’s not. He’s nuts. But I am legitimately curious if people would be quite so defensive of the poor implementation of Ascended gear at present if it were needed everywhere, instead of just the Fractals. I suspect there would be much more disagreement in this thread if that were true.

And I do actually expect to see Agony elsewhere eventually. I have a feeling they won’t keep it confined to the Fractals. It just seems wasteful for that to be the only place it’s used in.

Wasteful, maybe to harsh a word; but a waste of developers time, possibly.

Do the new ways to get ascended gear included AR?!?

Follow-up; If they include future AR content (with current stati of being able to acquire AR .. no adding crafted AR items etc…) …. what happens to those that didn’t Grind AR items???

There are a couple of non-Alpha encounters with other special things going on but why ruin your fun of getting to know them first

Just to name a few—

Laser Grid (only need 4 people not 5 and only 2 on other side) / Control panel with exploding golems room — need 5 clicks but experienced groups can do it in 2 waves instead of 5 / Evolved Husk and not attacking him but using the terrain,NPCs,Gun against instead / Most off map areas have been closed but there are still a few where you can do more than 1 path at the same time / etc. etc.

You can skip most all the risen encounters.

But basically, you can walk out of every aoe circle w/o having to dodge. If you must though, count 1 and 2 then dodge.

Like everything else, the better the party is the easier the encounter is.

Alpha fights everyone should stack, when he throws down the “3 red rings of death” AOE (doesn’t in path 1) then count to 3 then dodge (not 2.. if you dodge to early you will get hit with some of the AOE still). If anyone gets downed everyone still standing can revive those that failed to dodge quickly and easily. If everyone runs around willy nilly then you are going to have a whole room of red circles, which is bad.

There is no need for Vigor when everyone is stacked as the triple ring AOE is the only one you need to worry about and it doesn’t happen continuously (i.e. you should always have enough endurance to dodge)

Furthermore, for the fights where he imprisons someone in a crystal prison — if everyone is stacked then everyone’s AOE attacks should quickly destroy the prison.

As a guardian if you take the Writ where all symbols heal this should be enough to help heal your group through the other AOE dmg. from the random mobs and pitiful other Alpha attacks — if even needed, all depends on group makeup.

Path 3 torch event is pretty rough, even for our QA and people know how to do it. I have plans to soften it’s edges a bit (read: nerf), because I honestly can’t get a group to run the darn thing. It can often take long enough to do the first event that you could have done a whole other path if you are in a PuG.
My current plan is to drop it down to 3 torches, so two players who choose tanky/support roles won’t be so punished by the content, and then adjusting the way the spawns behave to provide more of a challenge. (Plans subject to change based on testing feedback)

Instead of dropping it down to 3, why not remove the simultaneous clicks?
i.e. leave it at 5 but each torch stays lit after clicking. Also add in a parameter for “unclickable” while the guarding mobs are alive.

“being able to see your character” is a terrible reason. I make my character look cool for other people, if i wanted to see my character all the time, i’d put a little picture of him on my wall.

I’ll go 1 further — there is no way to show your own name / guild tag / etc… You can see everyone else’s but not your own. So their excuse of wanting you to see character is complete garbage.

The camera view in this game is horrendous, worst ever. An overhead 2d camera from a MUD is better! They also have no collision detection whatsoever, so if your back is against the wall the camera likes to do ‘odd’ things.

Quite simply, there were a lot of legendary precursors given out during the Lost SHores event and all the people that are wanting to craft them are “gobbling up” the required mats. Also ascended items/infusions require a chuck of the same mats. Tack on the few hundred I have bought over the past week just to make some profit — yeah you get the idea… (I know of 3 people outside of this thread that are going for bifrosts, so lol)

..Just wait till Wintersday and peopel start making coin on selling gems.. and then they spend it on buying up even more mats (i.e. the price will continue to rise)

If you want to change the stats on them however, you should be able to by using Fine transmutation stones.

Just don’t do this.. it will no longer be classed as Legendary, but instead whatever you are transmuting.
