I’m not saying the we NEED the Nerf I’m saying if they want to go this way there are better ways of doing it. Also bleeding in Plague isn’t good, you may have a lot of HP and toughness, but you literally giving free damage, since you can’t heal off the bleed, you can’t transfer it nor rid your self of it in Plague form, it’s literally just taking damage.

So Consume conditions and Plague form are being changed in a rather unfitting and damaging way, so rather than gripe about it I was thinking about alternatives to the current proposed changes.

An example I had was something along the lines of;

“Spectral Removal” – Heal for XXXX amount, removing conditions (either all or a cap 5-7) Gaining Life Force (% varies for amount it can remove) for each Condition removed. (insert cool down here)

Consume conditions needed a nerf though this one seems too hazardous and punishing in my (and many others opinion), with this change the skill can be used in multiple builds and serve a similar purpose as it currently does now. Adjusting the healing to normalize the loss of Health per condi removed gaining a new utility for it, as Death shroud is utilized in all builds this heal can be useful. (though I also think they need to seriously buff the other heals and Blood fiend need a lot of love).

Plague – Transform into a plague cloud, gain increased Vitality and toughness bleed 1 stack of bleed for 2 seconds every second. Gain new 1-5 Skills

Random examples;

1 – Basic condi pulse like AA (poison/bleed or something)
2 – Debilitating mist/Carrion swarm – drop a cloud of putrid magic/summon a swarm of insects that Poisons and cripples enemies (small cool down)
3 – Blinding parasite – Enemies caught in the radius of the Plague after cast are Blinded (Small to med cool down)
4 – Miasma – For X amount of seconds pulse out conditions that you are currently afflicted with. (Still uses Poi/bleed auto but adds condis you are afflicted with (stacks+duration, med high cool down)
5 – Fetid Explosion – After a short delay Blast out a wave of Virulent magic that applies all conditions on you too any Enemies caught in the blast radius. (Damage? high cool down)

Being bled while in plague form is bad since we have no way to utilize it nor rid our selves of it. With these changes not only would plague form get a new quality of life and utility but the Bleeding could be used to our advantage. another Idea I had was draw in condies off your allies (like 3 per ally)

Of course these ideas would need balancing (and I’m defiantly not the numbers guy) this was just some ideas I had. What ideas would you like to see? how would you improve/change the skills?

Watchwork Pick: Non-inflammatory please

Personally I don’t care about this pickaxe at all, I have the Home Instance node and a ton of sprockets too, I know it’s more about what it means for the future but it’s not the worst thing that could have been added, but obviously this is causing enough of a debate for something to be done about it in the near future maybe.

The only things I (and evidently other people in this thread) can think of that could solve this is either;

1. Add limited use picks either before or after sprockets become harder to obtain (Like if the ending to the LS ends up with no more Minion attacks and obviously no more marionette) this could also be done with pristine spores if they did add a sickle.

2. Sprockets (and maybe spore samples) become obtainable in either gathering node (outside of Home instance ones) where applicable at some point after/during the LS (e.g. Toxic spore sprouts start growing in Kessexs Hills after the tower fell, this could also further the story and evolve the world a little bit.)

3. Just remove the pick. Personally I don’t usually like resorting to “Oh fine just get rid of it” because SOME people might like the idea or like me couldn’t care less. Although if it causes this much controversy then it might be worth removing the pick, compensating anyone who bought it and maybe taking it back to the drawing board and thinking of a different idea.

This is just my personal feelings on this subject.

Technically speaking most classes have a “utility weapon”

Thieves I mentioned have shortbow
Warriors have Greatsword (this is mostly because GS is their best weapon)
Most Elementalists have either D/D (yes I know it’s one of the best sets) or Offhand dagger at least.
Most Mesmers carry Staff
the only ones I can’t think of is Ranger and Guardian.

But at the same time there is usually a weapons Classes don’t tend to use often

Warriors – Offhand Axe/Longbow
Rangers – Offhand Axe/Longbow
Necromancers – Axe (not totally but it is usually dropped for Dagger in power classes for the Root/Heath sap/attack speed)/Warhorn
Mesmers – Offhand sword (I might be wrong about that one.)

EDIT – Also forgot to mention, Staff is meant to be a Utility weapon just by looking at it, it fits lots of play styles, Condition weapon you have Scepter, Power you have Dagger and Axe, off hand are like utilities too, Dagger (condi removal and condi support), Focus (Boon hate for power, movement restriction and power support), Warhorn (Movement increase with life force support + CC)

Trident is underwater (try chasing someone on land especially someone with good mobility) with an Axe, it’s not going to happen, (Though I tend to use Focus/Spiteful talisman) 1200 Chill hell yes.

Wells are good AoE damage yes (2 of them anyway), but like someone said unless you trait them (and not all power Necros use Wells) they won’t do the trick and I believe they become 600-900 range.

Think of Staff like Thief Short bow rather then being an extra set of “weapons skills” it’s more like a second utility bar.

Boon Hate

In my opinion boon hate will be things like “XXX attack now does more damage the more boons the Foe has” or “For every boon XXX removes extra damage is applied”, and why is this? Necromancer basically is a “Boon hate” class (if you choose to build it that way).

With Spinal shivers (and chill of death) gaining extra damage per boon ripped (3 boons being the maximum), Corrupt Boon and Well of Corruption. It will probably be more skills like that, but I don’t think (though I could be wrong who really knows?) they would put in too many.

Because every class (with appropriate builds) have one thing they do better than others ATM, and Necromancers is Condition control (and a small amount) of Boon control.

EDIT – I’m not against any class getting a new meta or anything, this is just a theory, by all means I would like to see Warrior get something new to play around with, but some people seem to think they will totally out class other classes with a few boon hate skills, it would be unlikely.

Necromancer is kind of a funny one, I’m usually pretty good PVPing with one but the Build I’m using ATM is pretty balanced (Power/Con. Damage hybrid based off the Well bomber build), and I usually only have trouble with the occasional Thief and Ranger.

Mesmers don’t have a lot of condition removal (on most “damaging” builds I think anyway) They usually don’t have Arcane thievery, Shattered removal?, Null Field or P. disenchanter. so condition become their main weakness (not saying this is true 100% of the time trust me) and Necros are pretty good with condition especially if you’re specked for them.

I like this thread, knowing it isn’t just me and my friend (Especially my friend) who get this sort of backlash. My friend gets loads of rage directed towards him, I get a few occasionally, most recent I was trying out a Warrior build (BTW it wasn’t 100Blades and I hardly play warrior in PVP at all this was basically a new class overall to play as).

Anyway near the end of the match which we lost anyway, this random thief (may I add a BS thief) started saying how I’m “low” spamming 2 (on Rifle?), and how nooby I am. Which is weird considering this was my first time with this build/Class, I could kill him no problem without the rest of his team butting in, I could tank and distract quite well on this build too, yet I’m being called a noob by someone using the “OP thief build”

TL;DR – This basically went on for 3 rounds until he left, he also stated my Engie friend (who I pvp with Frequently, and the guy who usually gets raged at) was carrying me, even though most of the time I killed him I was by my self…

Hi I’ve been trying to purchase 1600 Gems for the past 2 days from the gem store I’ve used this card before to buy gems and I know the money is in there. I keep getting the “Card Approval Failed” message after I put the Information in and confirm the purchase.

Not all classes can go invulnerable. but they have skills to get Stability/Stealth/invulnerable

Warrior – Endure Pain (Take no damage)
Balanced Stance (Gain Stability)

Guardian – Stand your ground (Stability)

Engineers – Elixir S – (Shrink and Invuln or Grow with Stability/Stealth)

Ranger – Protect me (Pet takes all damage)
Rampage as one (Stability)

Thief – They have Stealth

Elementalist – Mist form

Mesmer – Distraction Shatter (Distort)

Necromancer – Foot in the Grave (3s Stability in DS)

So every class has access to this, some more effective than others.

Well at the Higher levels you can use Masquerade, Shows a lot of skin and probably won’t be you “Final armor” unless you transmute it, but it’s pretty funny.

Biggest thing with this is even if you got to Level 80, then magically changed to Sylvari/Charr/Asura/Human/Norn without restarting the story, your personal story is going to be like you did this on For your Wylde hunt… then became an Asuran…

It would be weird, You should just make a new character I have 1 of each Profession ATM, 2 Sylvari, 1 Asura, 2 Humans, 2 Norns and 1 Charr and when more Races/Professions come out I’ll make more too.

Where as I would like to see some extra effects for Bleeding and other conditions (like Vulnerable, Weaken, etc) I don’t think it should be based on armor though, I know mixing armor could be interesting in a aesthetic way, but it would mean making a lot of conditions a little UP (Poison/Bleed not afflicting HA so much) considering some people think Bleed needs a buff or something, (Increased effect of other conditions maybe?).

Yes you said HA take more damage from Burn and Confusion lasts longer, but then Burn which is the strongest DPS going would do much more damage, and by that logic people in Cloth and Leather would also burn more, catching fire etc.

And it seemed (even though you were just spit balling) medium armor got no love there.

If I was going to add things to condition I would make it so it effected everyone the same, just to be fair, Also could you imagine a Staff based support Elementalist with HA (increased Def, Reduction in Poison/Bleed with only Other effects lasting longer or doing a little more damage)

it would be like;

Bleed – Change it to duration like Poison, Slightly buff damage, Other conditions are more effective or last longer I dunno.

Vulnerable – More susceptible to crits or CC?

Weakness – Slower attack speed? maybe?

Cripple – Cause a low amount of damage when player moves (every, 2-4 seconds?)

While keeping their current effects.

Poison already has Heal reduction, Blind is fine, Burning is fine, Immobile is fine, Confusion I think is OK, Fear is fine, Chill is fine.

I’d like to see that.

I don’t Often use Corruption in PVP (don’t get me wrong they’re good especially Epidemic with CD reduction, oh god yes), but they can be fantastic, in PVE I use a Conditionmancer Staff + Scepter/Dagger, utilities Blood is power, Epidemic, Well of Power, Consume conditions, Plague Form.

In PVE I basically Stand back, Spam Curses, Grasping Dead, Enfeebling blood, BiP and Epidemic then either Deathly Swarm/WoP/CC/Putrid Mark. I also did this in the recent Event by god it was fun.

You just go to bare in mind you add conditions on your self but you have plenty of ways to remove/exchange them.

Jagged horrors would be decent if;

1) They Exploded into poison (without Death nova) on death (think about it TIME BOMBS BABEH!).
2) When killed they don’t grant buffs/Rally (If they still do this?)
3) They don’t loose HP over time and do Viable damage.

IMO The most lackluster Elite is Plague form, it’s nice for stalling and it can be pretty devastating in crowds, but lacks that little thing to make it awesome (I still use it anyway).

I said ages ago I think any Conditions you get while or before you go into plague form get added to whatever Plague you’re using for example Get chilled while using the Blind/poison one adds chill too. I mean it is a Plague so why not get extra ones?

Litch form is cool, I like it again it can be good taking down people or crowds of people, I do agree the Jagged horror swarm is lame (would be better is jagged horrors did something like explode in poison after they die then you have 5 Time bombs). Also I’d shrink the Litch a bit so it’s a smaller target I know you’re meant to be a more powerful form but you may as well put a big target on you’re head it would be more subtle.

Flesh Golem would just need an AI upgrade (Like all minions/pets/phantasms/turrets)and it would be fine.

As for a Well Elite that would be interesting could pulse 3 Random conditions and damage Every 2 seconds, Big area, Extended time (so it’s a little longer than the normal wells), something like that.

It’s not so much of a question of “the drops are Inadequate before Magic Find” you can still find good stuff without MF, it just take more time so naturally people want to find it faster, enter MF. it is an optional Gear Stat and to be honest don’t make the biggest of deals as I’m sure not many people use it in WvW and People can’t use it in PVP.

As for dungeons well I hardly think it matters as long as everyone in the party is doing there job.

Aside from the DnD aspect of this (Which I have little to no knowledge of), I would like a “Musician” like class, but considering their weapon would be a Lyre/lute/pan flut etc. They have to be like Engineers or Elementalists. Unless as you say they were like traditional Bards Using some sort of weapon.

If we look more at the musical side with a musical instrument, it would be set out similar to Fire = Battle march?, Water = Soothing cords?, Air/Earth = Inspiring Melody?, which will focus on Damage, Healing/Condition removal and Buffing.

But if we take the traditional bard into it it could use normal weapons accompanied with sound/vocal attacks/buffs like Sonnets, singing, they did a little music but you would need a “instrumental weapon” for that i suppose.

It could be quite interesting.

Fair enough if no one else shares my view about axe, I like it so far. Like I said I’m not going to be the guy who will blindly defend something and I’m not going to impose my views on someone.

My build was something along the lines of this, and People are probably going to find holes in it but it worked so I was happy with it.

Traits/sigils/utilities are yours to customize I threw this together last night to try out axe, there is probably a better combination somewhere. I would also consider changing D/D (if you were going for Main Axe/XXX) for Staff (AoE and Control) or Scepter (Condition control), This is also for a bit of range, though Axe is Med range so you could just use that if you want.

As for the 1 game don’t prove anything, I’ve been PVPing more today and I still haven’t had a hard time with it

I tried Axe out after the update on a 5V5 Match and I was top of the board, killed a lot of people (Warriors, Thieves, Guardians, Rangers (A lot of Rangers lol there were so many on last nigh XD), and Elementalists) With only my axe, I even found it strange that I didn’t Switch to my other weapon.

Not trying to be “That Guy”, the one who has to defend everything but there was a definite improvement with it. Before I got kills and it was a Life force generator mostly but it isn’t as bad as it use to be IMO.

EDIT: Also I was a power build, but I wasn’t Berserker amulet full crit squishy build either.

But you could just at least wait until the update is here before losing even the littlest amount of hope I mean just because Ranger, Mesmer and Engineer were mentioned, Doesn’t mean Necros aren’t going to be fixed/changed in any way.

By the looks of it Bugs were one of the issues they looked at and Necros have a lot of them so they might have been mostly taken care of.

I would like to see

(Bugs Fixed Duh)

Torch – Black candle – Burn foe(s) and gain life force
Blue Flame – Burn and Chill foe(s)

Jagged horrors do not give boons if killed (if they still do that) and when they die they do a mini Putrid Explosion without the Death nova trait, they are basically Bone minions.

Update Minion AI (also for Pets/Phantasms etc.) Also Change Bone fiend and Shadow Fiends skills or improve them.

A utility Fear (or give it to one of the utilities already available) and maybe Make fear for necromancers better (it is meant to be our thing anyway.)

Bleed needs a power boost or something.

Other debuffs need a bit of a boost as some are seen as lackluster (Vulnerable, Weaken this is just something I’ve heard I do agree in a way.)

I know Death magic is the Minion Line but the second minor trait is useless unless you use minions.

Staffs 1 skill needs a speed boost or something?

Axe needs a power boost or something that gives it that push towards a viable Primary weapon.

Underwater Death shroud 4th skill is horrible, it really needs a change, or a different skill IMO.

Underwater condition is limited (No use of wells, Corruption skills are good but, it would be nice for some AOE ones too)

Buffing?? I’m not 100% sure about this but necromancers buffing capabilities for teammates are a little slim, off the top of my head they can;

Protect (Both themselves and allies)
Regeneration (Both themselves and allies)
Might (Themselves)
Fury (Themselves)
Stability (Themselves)
Retaliation (Themselves)

I might be wrong about this but it would be nice to buff teammates a little better that’s just my opinion.

That’s all I can think of right now.

Mine is Cephalanthera…. Which is the name of the Genus for most Terrestrial Orchids. I like to theme my characters so I’m going to pick SOMETHING plant like. I was going to call it Black Amber because my Friends brother had a friend who’s nickname is Black Amber, but ti was taken…. oh well.

OK I see your point there, That is a stupid comment, I mean it more like Classes can kill Classes (Still sounds weird but in my head it makes sense XD), But not all Builds can beat other Builds (trait and spec wise) if that’s any clearer if not then I can’t really enplane it any more than that.

I must have missed that comment but yeah this game isn’t Balanced yet, no game is ever perfectly balanced, no such thing as a perfect thing XD

Like an Orb/Crystal Ball type weapon, rather than float in you hand it can be set in a glove or mitten so you cast from your hand maybe?

But what I’m saying is that, nobody said it was balanced at all yes some professions are Clearly stronger than others, some profession (I mean I’m a Necro so I know about this) have major bugs or problems.

But I’ve taken down good players who play as the “OP” Classes 1V1 I’m not saying I’m an excellent player, far from it TBH, But I do think people do have an Equal chance of killing all other classes if they can play well, just not all other builds.

I always clump wands together with Scepters because they are 1 handed rods with magical properties they both can have an ornament or focus on the top as well but it’s still a nice Idea.

I think it would be a bit hard, well more if you played into your story cuz then half way through it would have to do something like… then suddenly… ASURA ASURA EVERYWHERE XD.

I guess it’s OK I would like re – customization maybe for some gold?? But I don’t think a change in race would be practice for the above reason.

True, The main Issue I though of with Chronomancers is the Balancing, since besides speed, a chronomancer has control over time, I mean reversing time aging to waken and all that OP! XD

We’re not saying it’s balanced, But if you have killed at least 1 of each profession, then you can technically counter a class.

I’ve 1V1’d all other classes and my own class in PVP and won, It doesn’t mean I can counter them all, It means I can counter some or most Builds.

Yeah that might be the case I think that’s why they kinda of spread the crit to Hunger because that’s all the Death Shroud spec. Traits (as well as Spite sort of).

This way you can use DS as a weapon and protection (again theoretically I’ve never tried this).

Well since it’s a power Build Ideally you’d wanna go 30 Spite, 20 Curses, 20Soul reaping for the first build, but It could probably work that way too.

I would liketo seethe Dervish because they used Scythes (I’m a necro so yeah… Make it happen ANet)

But in there cancelled Add on “Utopia” They were going to add Chronomancers and Summoners

Summoners would basically be like necros or rangers but I would still like to see this.

on the other hand Chronomancers sound like a lot of fun and I would defiantly make one.

If I was going to use a theoretical Power Class I’d either go;

Power/Condition Duration, Condition/Precision, Hunger/Crit damage(I think that’s the right ones) this should theoretically Maximize damage and get use out of DS.

Or Power/Condition duration, Vitality/Healing power, and ???

That could be a start to a non DS focused one, Since TBH Power seems very focused on Conditions, Crits and DS, but that’s just looking at the Traits.

The 3 most notorious builds are Thief, Mesmer, and Guardian.

(I got a feeling this is why this thread was made XD)

But like most others have said it depends on why your play style is like.

I for one Main Necro, I’m pretty good at it too, but if you look on forum they don’t have the best reputation XD. So Play what you wanna play or what you feel more comfortable playing as.

I’ve Killed quite a few Mesmers, Though I will say they’re probably the one I have the most difficulty taking down in general. I even hate it when they actually go down, they’re still pretty annoying XD

I dunno about “We”, I love Necromancer, yes some bugs need to be fixed and they could do with a few tune up here or there, but kitten I love PVPing and my Class in general.

Just gonna say this not trying to be a jerk, but wouldn’t people rather Creatures made from corpses and what not and a Shade rather than a plain old zombie and skeleton.

I think it’s much more creative, and interesting and it gives of a “Frankenstein’s monster” type feel.

And you kind of answered your own Question “They pull together bones from the undead to create minions.” Well… you looking at them.
