I personally spaced out the grind for my legendary Kudzu. The precursor was a gift from a friend before he pretty much quit, so I figured I may as well go through with it. This was earlier in the game when the pre was still pretty cheap to be honest. (I did try not to take it. He insisted.)
It took me two years to finish the bow. I’d farm a little, take a break, farm, break farm break farm and take a break. I had several bouts of ‘maybe I shouldn’t do this’ or just lazily standing around in LA talking to people.
I’ve heard of some people getting them in a month or less with hardcore grinding, but I’d rather enjoy myself. The dungeon gold system does help make this easier for us though.

I happen to really love my legendary. I play with the flowers, I create little mini fields around my friends, I pew pew and birds sing to me. I make elitist jokes and enjoy the few benefits of having one. The game hasn’t changed, only my bow did.

Just set yourself a goal for the day. For a while mine was 5 gold a day. This is 2-5 dungeons. Not hard, run all the CoE paths, and then the two AC ones. Easy.
Once I was comfortable with that, I upped it. Goal is now 10g. 15g. I want this stack of mats. Ok now this— choose to get the gold in a fast easy way you like. For me this is dungeoning. The only thing I ran out into the field to grind was the stuff for my gift of nature, and that involved deforestation.

Break it down into manageable amounts and get the hard stuff out of the way first. This would be the pre, the Gift of fortune, Gift of Frostfang, exploration, and then mastery. The last thing I personally finished was the Bloodstone shard, I kept using my skillpoints to make more mats so I found myself broke on them. 3 Days of hardcore Crown Pavilion gold farming and I was at 200.

Once finished, I posted it in the map chat, got my snaps and then some from guildies. It was nice to have it done and a fun adventure while it lasted. Now I can work on other pain in the butt things like ascended gear and backpieces. (fun!)

I personally enjoy dungeons. CoE, HotW, and Arah being some of my favorites. Fractals are also a lot of fun, when you have people that talk and have a sense of humor. Get yourself a group of your friends and go do these things, the grind seems a lot less so when you’re in good company.

I can’t stand running alone, I just want to be around the internet names and faces I dare call friends. Call them up on skype or TS and get some stuff running. It’ll be a long stretch, but someday it will be yours if you want it.

I recently decided to actually use my little ele-asuran and remade her look as you can see in the picture.

However her name, not shown with good reason, is pretty atrocious as I made the character as a joke. I never deleted her because she’s a level 400 Tailor.

My friend wants her name to be “cotton candy” or some variant but unfortunately that’s also her hair color lol. Nope.

I thought of Gothic Candy, Not So Creepy, Fluffy Gremlin, or some other fluffy weird name but I wanted to see what the people on this forum thought.

I had this same suggestion, but I tried to come up with something that was at least seemingly cheap to do. Don’t get me wrong, having access to all the clothing dye would be awesome, but in lieu of that, if they just let us use a makeover kit to change it, and check to see if ‘all’ we change is the hair accessory, then don’t burn the kit.

That would at least make it more or less a free activity to come ‘close’ to matching when we feel like changing our clothing color on a whim.

But yes, I’d ‘love’ to have the option of dyeing it based on all the dyes I know.

I am playing with an asuran I want to do, she has a really cool black white pink look. I want her to have Taimi’s hairstyle with the big bow and pink hair—- but then what for her hair?
The stream color looks… ok. But the matte and notreallyatallblack simply look terrible. But I REALLY want this hairstyle.

New hair colors here, new eye colors there! Look at all the plethora of rainbow pretty colors, only to be smeared by the fact we can’t get a true red or a true white/black/anything hair accessory. And since there are so many hair accessory styles, this is hard for me to ignore.

Can we make these dye-able the same as our clothes someday? Please?
There is no way you can tell me that Matte is similar to Celestial, or Autumn to Scarlet.
It’d be nice to just have all the colors we have as dyes available in the character create screen, or a small box to dye the hair accessory on the equipment screen.

I always had a rose, a pretty little rose. and since my character’s name is Latia Amorosa, I always found it fitting.

My rose is gone. I was so sad.

Try this out sometime, it’s actually a lot of fun.
Put your skills on Quickening Zephyr and Sharpening Stone.
Tap Quickening, drop barrage and then tap sharpening stone and toss out rapid fire. You have to do this in a small window, but I’ve always had wonderful results with it. This is what I do when I know I need to damage something hard and fast. Toss out the jungle stalker’s might buff and you’re a force to be reckoned with.
Granted, what works for me may not work for everyone, but at least give it a try.

As a ranger, no, I have never hit the numbers a warrior has. However, I don’t usually lick the floor as much as they do either. I think rangers were meant to be the agility class of the medium armor sets. We’re not really meant to stack and be up close, but we have the option. However with a longbow more damage is done way across the room so it discourages this. The only reason I ever switch to my sword is because of the recharge rate on longbow skills.

This would be my only complaint against the longbow really. Changing it would be a great improvement to the class. The recharge rate makes me stand there and wait about 10 seconds before I can deal any real damage again unless I hit the skills in a very specific order, especially when I have the quickening zephyr mentioned above.

10. Some kind of new ranger pets like in Gw1 that require more than walking up and clicking f to get. Legendary pets of some kind.

8. More legendaries. As much as I love mine, new ones are desperately needed.
7. A better end dragon fight than that p. poor final mission with Zhaitan.

5. Fighting Jormag or Krak. instead of Mordemoth. They’ve been terrorizing way too long.

Hey Clay sent you an invite. CS is a very laid back guild and we don’t mind you taking a small hiatus here and there. We’re only human right!? We’re mostly pve but we have a pvp arena and would like to start doing wvw as a larger mass.

We’re a fun and talkative bunch but we’re a bit dead in the mornings like the rest of the game.

I would rave and rant for a FrostBite. Maybe we’ll see with season two. They’ve released her bow and quiver, but nothing else about Rox at all, which sets her apart.
Braham we got his armor, mace, and sheild.
Taimi, her face.
Kashmeer and Jory, their faces and their armors.
Hell we even got scarlet’s face and armor.

Rox has been left out so far so I’m hoping we’ll get to get her face and pet <3

This would actually be reminiscent of the WoW hunter challenges my wonderful boyfriend keeps trying to shove down my throat.

I think the idea should be pushed forward, however not as a drop. Drop rate has little to nothing to do with skill, only with how lucky you are. I’d prefer it as more of an achievement box like most Meta events. Do X and Y and you get Z.

For example for the baby dragon listed above to obtain the egg.
X Kills with a drake
Collect X herb or something.
Kill X undead drakes.

Once completed you are awarded a legendary drake egg, which unlocks a new quest train.
Complete Arah p3
Y kills with Drake
Reach location Z on the map. Some mundane and pain in the kitten place.
Kill champion creature. (Probably a drake in this case like a broodmother) But don’t just blatantly tell us what one it is, make it a hunt of some sort to figure out which one it is.

This would cause it to hatch, and then you have to level it up by doing some mundane kill quest.
It’d be a bit of a grind but hey something to do at 80.

Once it’s 80 with you, you have an optional quest X kills with legendary weapon of your choice to get a cosmetic effect applied to it.
For example Kudzu, it’d start to appear more of a jungle dragon.
Dreamer it’d turn more into a pretty unicorn desu desu.
Twilight it’d start to darker and more cosmic
so on so forth.

For the pheonix’s apply this to birds.
They could do all kinds of cool creatures this way, and it’d kind of show a Ranger’s ability to get things done, apply achievements to the AP of the ranger, and have some cool effects of their own.
It’d be fun!

Also the ability to change their f2 skill to any of the same type’s out of combat like the legendary.

Of my time playing, I have became a sadistic example to rangers on how to use your pets. However this can prove useful. I’m one of the only rangers I’ve met who can control the pet AI to some semblance of use. I’m not sure when the pets were updated, but they can now pull, detonate, and sometimes steal aggro for me.

To detonate bombs, mines, or other exploding like the fishheads in tequatal, flip to the ability “Guard”. Stick them behind or next to them. Once they come tangible again you get the sadistic pleasure of watching them topple across the floor and then get back up and take it again, (with careful positioning, you can make a game of this, how many can you detonate with only placing and calling them back?) You can also use this to detonate orrian mines, the inquest bombs in arah p2, the golems in CoE, and several other things. The heavier the pet’s vitality is, the better. I found the reef drake to be the most versatile with this.

Pulling is a little harder, you need a single attack pet such as the cats, bears, birds, dogs, or moas. I recommend moas or bears. If you use a drake, the tail sweep will hit more than one and that just gets messy. Let the pet get at least two good hits in, and then click f3 to call them back. Pull out a bow and pew pew a little when they get to closer range. This is the safest way to pull, and with practice you can actually pull singular mobs, such as bosses. Crown Pavilion’s Wiggin is a good one to practice on.

For rangers who say ‘kitten my pet’ and don’t really use them, please remember your f1-3 keys work when you are in a downed state. If there is a particular enemy killing you, target them and click f1. The pet will go after them and pull the aggro off you. Hit f2 on the blue moa to drop protection for some extra help, the fern hound is a little squishier but the regeneration is awesome when in a pinch. Everyone knows that pet heal is boss, but if you’re dangerously low, f4 to switch and then use it. They’ll be right on top of you.

If you’re having issues getting a mob off you that hits a bit too hard to handle, swap to a longbow if you can, point blank them back and send your pet after them.

Also note the Leopard pet has one of the faster cool downs on it’s f2 skill which grants might. In my experience it’s good to have one pet that can buff and the other that can tank. Think of yourself as 3 units, though the other two are quite squishier and don’t last as long.

Play minesweeper with your pets. It’s hilarious.

These are my tips for new rangers or people who are having issues on pet usage. If anyone else has some, I’d love to hear! Share the funsies.

I’m good with having no body aura. It would be neat to see the golden patterns on the bow go up our arms or faces. Maybe change our eyes to gold when fighting? That’d be neat. We’d match the little dryad on it. A gold aura to me would be excessive an icky.
I just want my arrows really. ^^;

May I please remind people this topic is not about builds, it is not about weapon choice. This is about Kudzu and the AoE effect, which I understand is an AoE effect. Regardless, I am disappointed because you do see the golden spears go into the air. It’s almost like a failure to continue the idea.

Like I said before, Kudzu is a longbow. This projectile only works on Kudzu. They already redid every arrow. I don’t want an explosion of flowers when they hit the ground like BAM FINAL FANTASY EIGHT FLOWERSPLOSION. I just want the arrows to look the same. They already have a flowery effect when they land on an enemy, that would be enough for me. Golden spears.

Unlike Bifrost’s meteor shower, you actually continue to see the arrows in an almost unmoving state. You can get a really clear shot of them and I, personally, would like to see the golden spear effect on those same arrows.

For the third time, this is only on Kudzu. We only have those 5 skills and no other weapon has barrage. If you’re going to overhaul the arrows — do all of them. This includes the aoe. I throw spears when I go down just like a dreamer throws ponies.

I have always ran my longbow, the precursor was actually a gift from a friend before he quit the game. I run Longbow/GS and mostly stick to the longbow. However, this is not about my build or Mazreal’s build.

I really do love the bow. I am not a flashy, overloaded person so I’m actually okay with the lack of sparkle and glow effects as compared to dreamer. That being said I just wish that, like Dreamer, we got all our skills. If bifrost has a similar problem I can understand frustration there as well. It’s just a shame is all.

Off and on I have farmed this legendary for two years. So I don’t take even the slightest graphical flaw lightly. I worked kitten it, despite being off and on. I would farm, take a break, come back, farm, take a break… and yesterday after all that work I finally finished it. Lord knows I was not backing out then haha. The first thing I did was shoot off an arrow and murder some poor defenseless creature (and the daily was ambient slayer! Go me!) I then proceeded to drop barrage, expecting a bunch of golden arrows sticking out of the ground at the very least and man was I disappointed.

I created this to draw attention to the slight annoyance of working so hard, and so long on a beautiful bow with beautiful effects only to have it smeared with such a simple error. I felt a similar disappointment with my white cat mini, when it shakes its head, one of it’s eyes does not completely close making it appear slightly kitten y for a small amount of time. I have come to like this irregularity but I doubt I will with Kudzu.

So I created this to express my disappointment and displeasure and see if there were others who could get behind me to make it more aware to the GM overlords. They heard the complaints about the spear not being straight, so perhaps this is something they can fix in the next big legendary patch.

Thats a creative, neat alternative. A foxglove or a snapdragon would be super cute as well. Only issue is I hope they give color options. :S

This will be me griping about my legendary. Yes, seriously.
I finally got my legendary longbow Kudzu and I’m very disappointed in one detail. I love the bow. Don’t get me wrong. It really is a minor little thing.

But seriously, if you’re going to make a projectile change, go all the way. I see my character shoot golden flower spears into the sky, and then they come back down as normal arrows on barrage. Gripe gripe gripe nag nag nag.

It’s not like this skin can be used on any other skills, just those 5 and Barrage is probably the heaviest graphic one. Why not just finish it up?

I’m just a bit disappointed is all. I probably sound silly.

Instead of turning rednamed when approached, he stayed green named. The turrets still shot buffs up to him but he just stayed there… chilling.

I lagged off the platform on Jade Maw and fell onto that small rock side beneath it, on the left side. So there’s no way back up. I tried to climb my way up and well.. nothing. So I figured I’d jump off and save myself when I got teleported back up. Right?
Never teleported back up. Fell through the clipping into the water beneath… and found myself looking at … this.

Thankfully 72 hours is just a couple days. Some of my other MMOs would ban you for a number of hours, and which you totaled it up, it was about 17 years.

Today I lost connection to my server, missed out on dungeon credit. Whatever, no harm no foul. I went for fun and I had fun, so no real loss to me.
However, I believe this is related to a bug I had later- when all my 250 Globs mysteriously vanished from their location in my collections tab.
I was swapping from my ranger to my mesmer (my crafter), and they just… vanished.
Searched my sold tab, buy back, mail, selling tab… everywhere I could think of and couldn’t find them.
Logging out and back in, I find them sitting pretty on the wrong toon. A character I hadn’t logged into in weeks, if not months.

How on earth did that happen? I quickly put them back where they go, but I’m worried they may vanish again.
So here I am telling you that something went wrong. v_v"

Hopefully nothing else vanishes.

Kinda funny since I’ve ran into people named in spanish which translates to men’s body parts the forums censors; and no one said anything to them. What on earth did you name yourself that made them flip out?

Tried doing it with 4 different people, and all said it as being done right, however. No matter what we do, the puzzle will not progress a torch on occasion. It’s like it gets stuck on a certain torch and just wont go further. This time its the 1st torch, last night it was the third.

I really want to get that Aetherblade box.

We do the left side first, and then the pattern disappears, and then when we do the right; SOMETIMES the torch lights…. but other times nothing happens.
One person there said this happens frequently… so I thought I’d mention it here.

Can I make a humble request for a truce in the EB jump puzzle? We weren’t killing eachother last week and it was actually kinda nice. Now I so much as walk into the area and 7 people are jumping eachother.
I’ve seen lowbie people in town clothes (not even in my server) get reamed by another side, and its not like I can help them; so I have to stand and watch then wait for them to come for me because the area of fire wont let me pass without falling. The jump puzzle sucks as it is. Can’t we all just put our epride away and not kill eachother in it? Jeeze. It’s not like there’s any glory to be taken in there, except maybe a giggle when someone falls.
