I already made videos to the two only builds I use lately. But I have another build in mind that I might do a little showcase off soon.

Also @Sungak I’m glad that you liked the Healing Turret video, I think it’s pretty much always worth picking it up, even if you use one or two Blast Finishers into it. I didn’t ever do the math of it, but I’ve played alot with it and that’s how I feel about the sustain. It feels like it’s more sustain and you’ll also get more condi removal out of it.

The optimal thing would always be to use a blastfinisher and then pick it up again.

Will probably upload more fights with commentary and I actually did some research on new builds last night. Will see if I find something worthy to make additional videos about. It’s just hard to make an actual good power build nowadays. But I’ll try!

In case there are any other wishes for additional videos I’m glad to hear about it. I’ll see what I can do then

Hey everybody,

I’ve been playing this game in a competitive team for over a year and after my initial guide videos at launch I kinda stopped making guides. During the time I gathered alot of knowledge about the game and some of it is not widely known.
So I decided to actually share some of my experience with my new video series called Teldo Daily.
I thought it’d also be a good idea to post in the official forums to get some additional feedback about my videos.

At some point I will probably also upload informative or entertaining videos about other games, but until now I’ve only uploaded Guild Wars 2 videos (mentioning this just so you don’t get disappointed if every now and then a daily ends up not being for Guild Wars 2)

Here’s the link to the full playlist. I’ll try to upload multiple videos a week.

I agree with Xeph’s post. The tournament gameplay has downgraded to something that is near hotjoin / soloqueue level.

In regards of stealth counterplay the best thing I could come up with would be allowing people to reveal enemies by just hitting them while they are in stealth, but this only works if someone is stealthed for longer than 3 seconds.

This would allow people who rely on stealths to get away still to use it as an escape.
At the same time this would make a counterplay possible to whole teams stealthing trying to instagib someone. With a change like that people would still be able to use stealth to surprise their enemy, but it will require some thought process behind it and people won’t be able to just mindlessly run around in stealth with 4 people oneshotting guardians anymore.

They said that the big PvP patch will happen in March, if I recall it correctly.

Also: The new queue system is better than the old one and a step into the right direction as well!
I like being able to queue solo for 1-round Tourneys, even if I might lose every now and then against a full premade.

isnt it like 6 am in germany now ?? :0

Yes but my love for Guild Wars 2 > my Timezone!
And I’m honestly pretty sure that the big WvW/sPvP Patch will actually come in March, cause they announced it ages ago and when they do announce something they usually keep it, let’s be honest here. (since release that is)

You also have to give some time for the ratings to stabilize. I mean people who won their first 5 games are obviously very high rating-wise and will get premades more likely.

So give it a few days and it might be quite good, who knows.

So initially without seeing all the patch notes I think we were all more than a little upset. The unfinished patch notes just had no clear direction and didn’t accomplish anything we wanted balance wise in the current meta, and probably looked more like a step backwards.

But after we’ve figured out what has actually changed, it’s clear attempts at nerfing or buffing some things we wanted nerfed or buffed (mostly nerfed) were made. Were the changes to cantrip ele’s enough? I honestly don’t know yet, and I can tell you any unexperienced team will still fall extremely easily to the double cantrip ele guardian strat that has been used as of late even after the nerfs. But at the highest level of play, maybe teams like us and curse and others can deal with double cantrip ele guardian well enough now. We’ll just have to wait and see.

The point is they are almost all a step in the right direction. Getting GW2 pvp to the point we all want it at has been a long process we are all tired of waiting for and today we got a little riled up by the mistake anet made by not listing all the patch notes and it’s probably because we are all almost on our last straw with this whole waiting thing.

We’ve waited soooo long but guess what pvp community? This game is headed in the right direction and we are so close to the big pvp patch, just a little bit longer, don’t make all that waiting you have done up until now for naught!

Thanks for summarizing our feelings of today
I agree. We’re moving into the right direction.
I was disappointed at first, too. But I’m really looking forward what ArenaNet will do for the big PvP Patch.
This patch was a good one balancing-wise anyway. (The only thing I’ll never understand is the Kit Refinement change though)

Feb 26 - Engineer Patch Notes discussion

My take on the changes.

Kit Refinement change:

A huge nerf to this and it will make it basically useless when you run 2 kits. Why would you nerf an engineer, who runs 2 Kits? Those builds are definitely not too strong so far, but they were interesting and fun to play.

The change makes no sense, really. If some of the procs were too strong, they could’ve nerfed those specifically. But an internal cooldown is just weird and makes it useless.
I really loved this build.

Flamethrower changes:

The buffs are mainly based on power builds. Nice idea. I actually like them and they help PvE Flamethrower engis. Still doesn’t make Power Flamethrower viable in highlevel sPvP, cause you can’t just channel Flamethrower 1.

The extra 2s Burn on the knockback is amazing for Condi builds, but not too big of a change
Still won’t make Flamethrower a good choice.

Toolkit changes:

5 stacks of confusion for 5 seconds instead of 3 for 3? Amazing and a really good buff.

Toolkit is definitely a good kit now.

Elixir Gun changes:

Blast Finisher on the leap – amazing and I love it. Allows a lot of interesting plays.

Healing buffs – Also good, but gets compensated by the huge Kit Refinement change.
It’s basically even worse, because you had a double heal, which removed 2 condis, before and now you only got one.

Conclusion:

While I like most of the changes, I don’t think it’s enough to bring Flamethrower and Elixir Gun into the game.
The Kit Refinement nerf is just too much and the Trait will be useless with double/triple Kits.

Overall this change will make less builds viable then there already are. I theorycrafted a lot lately and I just couldn’t make anything work in high ranked paids, except for 100 nades and my current Condi Burst build.

100 nades were alright in paids, but still weaker than most builds, cause it was way too easy to shutdown. You didn’t deal any pressure back with anyone on you and the build was pretty bad in 1v1s.
The 100 nades build gets completely shut down with the Kit Refinement change though.

My Condi Burst build is very strong. Possibly even too strong, but that’s just the only thing that is viable and the sad part about it is, that it’s by far the easiest build that I’ve ever played on my engineer.

So right now the best build is also the easiest build to play (ridicilously easy.) and with the current Patch changes it won’t get better either. I can imagine myself using a Toolkit instead of Elixir B in the Condi burst build, but that’s about it.

I just don’t see any viable build happening with those little changes, especially because the Kit Refinement will take out way more builds that might’ve been interesting.
Even though devs said that they don’t want to take builds out of the game and add new ones.

Solo Que (Anet system)

After thinking about all of this I can just agree with Xeph.

The mixed queue is probably the best thing they can implement right now.
Especially, because they are probably already working on it and won’t be able to just scrap it completely.
I just hope that we’ll get something like that sooner than later and if the mixed queue is easier to implement it’s probably the right choice.

The mixed system will still be way better than what we have right now and I’d be happy with it.
Queueing against a full team every now and then might be frustrating, but it’s something that I’m willing to take for having a soloqueue.
Players at a medium rating won’t get matched up against full teams very often, hopefully.
And the high rated players might meet full teams more often, but I personally would be fine with that, as long as the community is happy with it and grows.

Later on we will probably still get our soloqueue, if the interest for it is high enough.

I have faith in Arenanet.
The game is moving into the right direction right now with Paid 1vs1 queue anyway.

They never said this is a temporary solution, nor do they have separate queues in plan as afaik. Also, getting matched into unfair matches is unacceptable, i want my rank to be a reflection of my worth as a player, not reflection of a faulty matchmaking system. And another thing, make up your mind already saying one thing 6 hours ago then something completely else 6 hours later makes you look childish and inconsistent, we will achieve nothing with fickle minded players like you.

Please point me to where they said that it was permanent, because I recall they did say that they will change it if the community doesn’t like it.

Well, apparently you like it, so why change it. if they are anouncing something i presume they will keep it if “top players” dont see it as a problem. OFC its not a problem for you play with a team, what do you care if i get unfair matches?

Don’t worry we (even though we have a team) will still soloqueue just as much and we will face the same issues like you. And is it too bad to face a team every 10th game?
In League it was possible to get matched against 2 duo-queues for the longest time, which was rather unfair, too. But people still played it and liked it.

I’m sorry, but it has nothing to do with being fickle minded.
I want soloqueue just as badly as you, but the point that I’m trying to make is, that we need something like that sooner than later and thinking about that I came to the conclusion that it probably will be implemented faster with their system than the pure soloqueue one.

And if people will keep complaining about the system after release (even though it will still be better than the current non-existing soloqueue one), they will change it and adjust it, so people will be happier with it.

We all want this game to be successful.

The low-down on the "Solo-Queue" Fiasco

in PvP

Good solo players will still rise to the top, or at least up to a certain level in this system.

But the majority of players want to queue solo, because their friends aren’t around all the time or they just don’t want/have a team.
A system like this would kill all motivation for most players, who just want to soloqueue, because at a certain level it will be next to impossible to get up in the ladder (and the competition is all motivation for most people).

But this level in the ladder will eventually become known. Let’s say that everyone starts out at 1000 rating for this new system, and over time we learn that it’s very difficult as a solo player to get over 1500, and pretty much impossible to get over 1700. So then, in this hypothetical example, 1700 would be come the “top” of the ladder for solo players. Once a solo player reaches this level, they can consider themselves among the very best of solo players. Any teams looking for new players can start at this level on the ladder and work their way down.

Sure, I understand what you mean, but for me personally a lot of motivation would be gone.

You also have to consider that a combined system like that requires a lot more work to polish than a pure team and solo queue.
And to be honest: This game needs something like that rather sooner than later.

The implementation of a pure solo queue would also encourage people to build teams, especially when tournaments etc. start going. I wouldn’t be worried about the teamqueue at all.
Even if the popularity of this game in sPvP might be low. I’m sure that a bunch of people from WvW and PvE will start soloqueueing. And many people who were interested in this game in the start ( which really seemed to be a lot) might come back, too.

Also: I’m getting whispered everyday by multiple people, who ask me if I knew a PvP guild/team which is recruiting players.
Unfortunately I can’t give them an answer on that, but that shows how hard it is to get into a game like this, if there is no solo queue.

The thing is that a soloqueue will attract so much more people and the majority wants a full soloqueue.

Competetive players will find a way around that and will still be able to play the game as a full team. I’m not afraid that the teamqueue will die, when there will be a soloqueue.
In case the teamqueue wouldn’t be as popular anymore you can still provide a better reward or something like that to make it more interesting for players.

Truth be told: If I wouldn’t have a team myself I know that I probably wouldn’t play this game at all right now, sadly. Even though I really enjoy it.

I personally think it’s a bad idea to combine solo and teamqueue.

The best example would be League of Legends pre season 1, when there were only normal games. As a highrated player you would get matched against full teams all the time or at least 3-4 players in a team and that’s just frustrating.

League of Legends wasn’t popular at all by that time, but as soon as they implemented Ranked Queue the game skyrocketed and became very popular (even before they invested money and hosted big tournaments etc.)

I feel like Soloqueue is something that is essential for a game like this and I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully it won’t be like the old League queue.
