Hey guys. My guild isn’t strictly a dungeon guild, but we definitely have a good handful of very experienced dungeon-goers. If you’d like to give us a shot, feel free to contact me in game.

Otherwise, have you considered DnT? I know they’re pretty much the top dogs when it comes to hardcore dungeons.

Heya, if you’re looking for a really social guild, mine might be a great fit for you. We’re on Fort Aspenwood, but if you’re not totally against transferring in the future we can work with you to gather funds to get that accomplished.

Now my first impression is that if you’re not going for damage, why bother with the sword as your offhand. Sword is the Guard’s greatest DPS weapon, but if you’re not aiming for DPS there’s not much point in taking it unless you feel that #2 blink is what you need. Scepter can offer a great immobilize on a short CD and also the range to snipe off cannons or pull Vets from a camp more easily, so I would personally suggest that.

Another idea is to substitute Save Yourselves for Hold The Line. Hold The Line grants Stability, which is often more valuable than what Save Yourselves offers. It also is a stun break, but on a way shorter CD.

I like where you’re going with the meditations though. I’ve always been a fan of them. One suggestion is to just stay flexible with which meditations you use, as they’re all honestly pretty good situationally. I think a big issue that a lot of players have is getting caught up in their one specific build and not thinking to swap out skills/weapons for the task at hand, and this is really a detriment to yourself and your team as there are so many abilities that are absolutely outstanding depending on your situation.

The traits look pretty good to me, especially for an initial set up. I’m always tinkering with my build in tiny ways, so don’t be afraid to swap things up a bit. Also, +1 for using Force of Will. I’m so in love with that trait.

One thing you might want to experiment with is using Empowering Might instead of Two handed mastery. Empowering might actually allows you to keep usually around 5-7 stacks of might up on all nearby allies as long as you’re attacking and frequently critting. Now you might have to tweak your gear to make this work, but it’s definitely not something to be snuffed at.

Now I’ll be honest. I don’t really get where you’re going with the gear. You’ve already acknowledged that your damage is rather low, so I don’t understand why some of your gear doesn’t boost your damage much (knights) and some is focusing on the damage (berserker weapons). I personally just invested in Zealot’s for my Guard, and am loving it so far, so maybe you should work on saving up the money to get that. I honestly think it’s a worthy investment. I’d suggest Zealot’s/Cleric’s, which gives mediocre damage but lots of good sustain. If you really don’t want to invest in Zealot’s then I’d say Cleric’s/Berserker/Magi might be better? Honestly I’m just not a fan of knights in most cases.

Lastly, the sigils all look great except for the fire one. I’d say replace it with battle or strength for some might stacks, since you do have good boon duration. This will offer better sustain damage, and less burst, but that’s okay because you aren’t going to be dropping anyone from 100% to 0% with your damage anyway, so sustain may be preferable. The runes look okay, though rage really isn’t preferred these days. You’ll have appropriate fury when you need it, even if you use Hold The Line instead of Save Yourselves. I’d suggest investing in strength runes with this build, even though that may be very expensive. If you can’t do strength runes, maybe Brawler runes might work? They’re nowhere near as good though.

If you feel like discussing any of my thoughts feel free to respond. I love a good theorycrafting session, and I never claim to know everything about Guard.

Now, it’s pretty hard to get (and expensive!) but one thing you might want to consider is the Zealot’s gear. It’s Power, precision, healing power, and depending on your build you can get a LOT of mileage out of that healing. I’d toss in some different trinkets to augment your ferocity to keep up the damage, and maybe take Force of Will (GM trait, 4th line) to augment your vitality. With a bit of tweaking I definitely think Zealot’s is extremely viable.

Please ignore this if your goal is the highest DPS and you don’t plan on hybridizing into some support weapons/traits.

I agree with some of the opinions stated here.

You don’t need as much raw HP to survive. Now, I’m not mathematician, but what you want is effective HP. So, if you have a lower HP pool, but had more healing power and a few more blinds and blocks thrown in there, you might find your survivability actually goes up!

I’ve typically run a support-oriented build and I honestly find that sustaining my health through healing myself and allies and managing my boons (protection I’m looking at you) offers much more than a huge HP pool.

Also, consider the scenario where you HP does get low. Without a lot of blocks or blinds, how are you supposed to ever get that HP back up in a fight? With a lot of HP but little healing power (and few blinds/blocks) one initial burst will essentially half your effective HP because you’ll never get your HP back up.

Our primetime is NA, though we have a very strong EU presence as well. Our WvW raids are usually at reset, which is 7:00CST. I think that’s 6:00pm EST. As far as our primetime you should be all set, seeing as we have strong activity before and after EST afternoons.

Speaking of activity, we generally expect moderate activity from all members. If someone isn’t logging in for more than a week or two at a time we feel that they really aren’t contributing much to the guild.

That’s an interesting rule. :o I suppose it keeps newbies from being annoyingly spammy though. If you have any specific questions about my guild I’d be more than happy to answer them. =)

The only way to transfer for free is to delete all of your characters. Otherwise it costs gems, or gold which may be converted into gems. It’s not cheap.

Right now the main factor determined by your world is WvW. My guild is a PvX guild with a strong focus on WvW, so we expect all members to be willing to transfer, or to already be on our server.

The Harbingers of Serendipity is a semi competitive WvW guild based in Fort Aspenwood. Right now we’re raiding three times a week on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, but we always have some action going on in WvW. We do dabble in a bit of everything, including PvP, which we’re starting to get more into since we just got our PvP arena.

Since you said that you’ve just rerolled onto the server does that mean that you are not looking to transfer?

You could always spend gold instead, if that makes the decision any better.

From what I’ve seen [DI] is a great guild. Very skilled and actually seemingly interested in helping the server. Give them a shot.

Even though I’m from the arch enemy server of FA, I can say that at least a few of these members are moderately skilled, though their zerging tactics leave something to be desired.

Yes. The tournament considers which server you’ve spent the most time on since the tourney started. So you’ll get rewards for HoD. I’ll try to message you in game so we can have a better discussion.
