Whoa…are you talking about Trib Mode? Or Normal (Villager) Mode?
If you are talking about Normal Mode, I’ve already beaten World 2 Zone 1 and Zone 2 with only dying once or twice. It wasn’t THAT hard. Yes if you die, you should learn from your mistakes but really…
If you are talking about Trib mode, well thats how it is suppose to be. If World 1 in Trib mode was easy for you, then I am envious.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
While you can’t gain access to the older skins that are on the TP right now, you can get the same skin but with a different color (Yellow/Green instead of Blue) if you get the Items from each zone (Via Trib Mode I believe?). So you can still get a nice Green Greatsword, just gotta work for it!

I guess you are the sole judge of what is what. You pick what is “trash” and “real” content huh? OK, someone is quite entitled now are they not?
Why don’t you actually go and play it rather then say “No its junk”?

Strongly against the vertical progression system to be introduced in the upcoming patch.
It was introduced back in November. Once the Ascended armor is added then maybe they’ll stop there.
Maybe. I’ve got better things to do than wait around and see. Besides, forevermore, the shadow of more tier gear will taint this game. It could happen anytime.
And after the PR smoke and mirrors of the first year, ArenaNet could come out and explicitly say (they won’t, but if they did): “We will never add another tier of gear beyond Ascended,” and I wouldn’t believe them.
Aside from Legendary (which the Tier has been in the game forever, which offers no stat advantages) there won’t be anymore. Ascended was in GW1. I would actually be kinda shocked and sad if they didn’t ever add it to GW2. In GW1 it was made to be a big deal, after you got it you felt the affects agaisnt Agony. When I saw that Agony was added, I KNEW (as should anyone that played GW1) that Ascended was going to be a deal.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
(Sorry for the double post)
And for future updates when the content is going to require Ascended Gear just to live agaisnt normal mobs (Look, GW1 did the SAAAAAAAME thing) everyone is going to be so thankful for Ascended Items. Not because it boosts their damage a whole 1%-5% (Allowing them to kill something a whole 2seconds faster! Allowing them to clear the Dungeon a whole 1 minute faster!) But because that they don’t die from Spec. Agony. Yes I know that ANET stated that Agony wasn’t going to be outside the Fractals, but I really hope it does, just to force everyone to adapt I like new things. I like my enemies finding my weaknesses and forcing me to find theirs.
Sorry if my posts seemed kinda nasty. Too much prepretailgating drinking…yaaaay college~

Whoa…someone explain something to me please. Aside from the whole “They stated no gearmill before launch” debate….
Whats the difference between…
White → Blue → Green → Orange(Exotic)
to
White → Blue → Green → Orange → Purple(Ascended)?
Cause I mean, all they are doing is adding another Tier where Tiers ALREADY EXISTED. There is a slight progression in the game. Games do that. However, there is more to games (and this game) then just Skins Vs Progression…Skill level of players, Skills in general, level of difficulty (NOT PROGRESSION/STATS, but actual how hard something is to do no matter the gear you are wearing) are all good examples to people trying to fight for one side or the other.
Even more so when the stat effects aren’t big enough that causes my level 80 Thief running around in White Gear to be unable to kill a Level 80 anything in Full Orange?
(Yeah, thats right, sometimes when I feel trolly, and someone invites me to a party after I killed them in WvW (mainly to kitten about being killed by a Thief) I’ll link them my level 80 White Cultural Armor.)

Nope, sry. Temporary content.
Way to be helpful yo.
@OP – Pretty soon the Molten Dungeon is going to be coming back so I would be on the watch to see if they drop from the dungeon! Its coming back in the form of a FoTM Dungeon.

Lol fanboys i see. It’s ok once a new game comes out this one is gone. I am sick of getting suspensions for say kittento people who are utterly rude and disrespectful even if they don’t cure. So what i have a mouth, comes from 11yrs in the military. You don’t like it turn on you Fn filter!
now i see why u got banned.and bringing up military like this is simply wrong and very disrespectful! fwy people do care what is written in chat and if i see someone posting something insulting, racist, sexist or anything of that sort in map chat, ill report u. no one wants to read all that stuff. why even share such things? keep it to yourself dude.
Thank you for bringing that up about the military. It shouldn’t be used as an excuse.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
In a game where you kill other players and cursing isn’t allowed is a fat joke to me. Cursing and gaming goes in perfect harmony. Ban people that send death wishes, not because he used an F word in map chat, like wtf anet… its 2013, wake up. If you play competitively its close to impossible to not curse, so wtf are they expecting? How many thousands of players they’ve banned? For those kids that their parents oblige them cover their eyes/ears when something ‘mean’ is said/seen, why don’t use a filter? Even better question for you, why do you play an online game if this kind of stuff is offensive to you? Play your solo E rated games…
Nuka, the guy is going on saying that others were “disrespectful” and “rude” to him. It wasnt a “he got killed so he yelled kitten” sort of thing, this was a spat between two players and he took it too far and started slinging curses. Also you can’t really link saying/thinking a curse to actually typing. Typing takes alot more effort then talking/thinking.
Also just because they go in perfect harmony with you, doesn’t mean it does with others. I can be playing CoD or something and die and be fine, I could have a high K/D or w/e and be alright, yet if my brother plays he screams and yells at the slightest lag/death…some people need to control them selfs more. Its a game yes, but losing control to that extent is silly (See the kid that got arrested for going on a facebook “rant” after losing a LoL match)

11 years in the military and you can’t learn how to shut your mouth and use presentable language? I was in the military aswell, but I never had anyone say “I’m in the military its ok” to me when they cursed and I chewed their kitten about it.

On top of that you probably already got your +20% gold to make up for the cost of it, you already gained from it and NOW you are saying because its becoming outdated that you want a refund? Goods don’t last forever and you aren’t allowed to just return it when a single use doesn’t work.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
The update hasn’t even hit yet, and you are already saying “my build is useless my build is useless! Burn the Devs!” Why don’t you wait for the update to actually come out to see how it affects you. For all you know it could increase the Gold amount you get from each Dungeon.
You bought an item which was very specific, when your source of profit dies out, you complain. That’s the price of a niche profit gain. Next time I don’t think you will build/invest in something so focused that a tiny change can screw up your build.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
Well…first of all, I wouldn’t buy a Laptop just for the gaming, I would look at what your School/College says is required/recommended for your Major/Path.
(Example, in CS at my School they require you to have Windows, while IT at the same schools asks that you have a Mac)
If you intend to do any computer programming, I don’t recommend getting a Mac just because its a pain in the kitten to do it on.
I also don’t like Macs so that’s my personal Bias :P
A few things to never do, never play GW2 without having your Laptop hooked into power. Gaming Laptops can handle “better” games like GW2, but if you don’t have the power plugged in then its going to eat your battery, since they all are like that, I wouldn’t worry about which has the “longest” battery life, just about which one you like the most.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
And making fun of me, just because your argument has little merit, doesn’t make you right.
You mentioned to everyone yesterday that you don’t care what we all think of you.
However, you’ll need to press F 150 times before any of us actually pay attention to you beyond laughing.
Whoa, personally attacking someone because they disagree with you? Since when did we take to personally attacking people who disagree with us?
I forum creep, ALOT, so I am aware of the view of Vayne by people like you, for him to keep stating his view despite you guys talking down to him, well, him be right or wrong he still seems to be the better guy.
We can have a proper discussion about that in a different topic/forum though.
Ontopic : If GW2 was to be like GW1 with more, then it would had just been an expansion, hell the title “The Dragons Awaken!” would had been fitting. Time skip or not. However, it was advertised as a sequel, not an expansion. Games change, GW1 was running for what? almost 10 years? I kinda figure even with a new expansion it would get stale after that amount of time (This is coming from a GW1 Vet).
Having a game with 3 different Camps, and an expansion that is that old, then releasing a new expansion ontop of it would NOT had been good, GW1 had been off of the market for way too long for it to ever be put back on, the only reason its still gaining profit anymore is because GW2 offers items if you go back and play GW1.
To the OP – what do you mean the skill bar similar to GW1? Just saying similar isn’t enough to warrant an “OK I understand what you mean” from my atleast.
As for the skills, while the discovery of them was fun and great, knowing what to use and be efficient was a NIGHTMARE for me as a new player. I knew what was cool, but then attempting to min/max that was a nightmare. Just because you had more opinions didn’t mean you had more Meta. Does it help for personality? Of course!
As for anyone claiming this to be a Korean Grinder…go play RO or GunZ and tell me that GW2 and those two games are equal in any way. Go, now. I dare you.
Back @ Res – So the whole Arah P4 was what? Walk through everything? So the Molten Dungeon was what?
Yes, you are right, the latest release was Fighting/Mech lite. But if you want to look at the worst of this situation, try looking at the best. We have a monthly updates, hell, it isn’t monthly at this point, they are releasing new “arcs” (if you will) daily right now. Each day I log into the game a new part for me to play. Isn’t that a “Mechanic” of its own? They showed us what they can do with cinematics.
I figured the whole switch from Dragon Fes → Bash was kinda given…the NPCs even explain it. Why celebrate dragons when they are killing everyone? So lets BASH them!Hince all the breakable things and all the burning/killing.

I wonder what they will end up doing about stealth. I’m fairly certain that they won’t touch stealth in itself, but more than likely they are going to add a couple of hard counters to at least a couple of classes.
My guess is they may buff some ranger pets to auto-detect stealth, as it seems only fitting some pets should be able to do so given their heightened senses..
Now the question is, how would thieves feel about that if Anet took that route? If a ranger had a pet out that revealed stealthed units (which you know most rangers would be using in WvW at that point). What would you guys do exactly?
When that happens, thieves would just cry on forums that they’re useless now, can’t do anything, etc etc. Well if guardians can survive through boon hate, then thieves can also survive stealth hate.
No…Warriors have to spec into Boon Hate and make their build be about that. That is Fine.
A Ranger specing into Stealth Removal, or even having a pets ability as Stealth Removal would be fine IMO
Not every single class and every single build has boon hate.

If there was a dog (AKA a build), easy or hard to get as a pet, that could pull us out of stealth or atleast show were we walked. I would be happy with that and be alright.
However if they gave each and every single build an anti-stealth opinion that took no sacrifice in the build to use, then what would be the point of Stealthing?
Rangers getting a pet to locate Stealth = Good
Every Class getting an easy to use Hard Counter to stealth = No point in stealthing.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
1. It had counters but you needed to be skilled to use them. Surprisingly enough seeing the background move can be really kitten hard. The same as aliens hiding in the dark – they’re not invisible, but good luck noticing them.
2. Use your healing ability – stealth with no signs of it
3. Can you use it in Spvp too?
4. You have to know that a thief is around to counter it with an aoe
5. We can’t target you, half of the abilities will auto-target a critter in the distance and will miss any thief. It’s cheap because it doesn’t allow you to counter your opponent because you can’t see it. PvP is always better without invisibility.
2. Our healing ability gives us…what? 5s of Stealth? People also don’t use that as an opener, why waste the healing when you will need it later? Kinda invalid to name that here, you are right it doesn’t have a “Thief was here!” sign, but any thief that uses that just to extend stealth wastes the healing and you have an advantage.
3. Nope, but a Stealthing Thief you don’t have to worry about in PvP, you have to worry about the dodging ones. In PvP the makitten maller and you have more people per area then in WvW where a lot of people complain about getting killed by a roaming Thief. Thief is actually a underpopulated class in PvP right now because Stealth hasn’t been that useful in it.
4. If an object is in your way, then yes, you are correct, you won’t see the Thief coming unless you saw him before and knew. But the same goes for the Thief, we don’t stealth to move around each and every corner just to surprise some guy. By that respect we all also don’t always carry D/D on us just to abuse Backstab’s high damage.
5. With projectiles, you are correct, most likely it will target something else and go off some wonky way. However I had in mind Sword Slashes/AoEs that you have more control over, sorry if you were focusing on projectiles, I ment the Sword/AoE stuff.
6. A lot of people already complain about how we survive too well with the dodge build, giving us more survivability isn’t the answer because of how wide it can be taken. We arnt the devs though, but if you want your point made you’d have to be pinpoint with that. As for damage…I do believe you said the damage was already too high on us dealing a 14k backstab so I dunno about that one.

It’s the worst gear in the game. You’re not invited to groups because you can do everything mediocrely. You’re brought into a group because you specialize in a way that pushes the group forward and helps round out weaknesses or reinforce strengths. That’s how RPGs work.
From a game design standpoint, I don’t think it should be in at all. It’s too tempting for less knowledgeable players.
So question then…is damage the most value-able resource?
Ajini – Thief – Commander
You would just need to use your brain to play your class like the rest of us does.
And I do have a thief and I do think that stealth is cheap, that’s why I kitten myself and use it as little as possible.
There are plenty of Thieves that have no brain and suck at the class, I actually consider Thief to be the class that you need a brain to even kill people, HS spam has been figured out how to be beat, Smoke is the only thing current “cheap” and I’m pretty sure that will be beat soon aswell.
Thief isn’t god mode, I promise. Stealth isn’t that great, maybe if you used it more you’d know the weakness to it…
Also you are still comparing glass cannon to glass cannon, staph. Thief shall win.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
And that’s a case where invisibility becomes pointless because everyone has a counter in their backpocket…
“Oh a Thief Stealthed? Just look for his outline” “Oh, I have bad eye sight, I’ll just use this TRACKING GUN!”This isn’t Perma Stealth like WoW, don’t act like you can’t touch us, ANET even gave you hard counters to us in WvW, you have as equal a chance of hitting us as we do hitting you. You just have to be aware of what to look for. If you fear Thieves because of the insane acts that you say we do, then just always carry around a trap and you should be fine.
Steal worked perfectly fine in that game (I loved playing as a predator).
Now for the “you need to be aware what to look for” like what? You’re COMPLETELY invisible UNLESS you have a legendary, then you leave footsteps.
“carry around a trap” so like I said – spam AoEs everywhere and pretend that they have no CD?
“ArenaNet gave you hard counters” like what? AoEs that hit 5 people at most and have CD?My point is that stealth has no place in this game. It is simply cheap. And if they buffed thieves up in a different department and removed stealth you wouldn’t be underpowered. You would just need to use your brain to play your class like the rest of us does.
And I do have a thief and I do think that stealth is cheap, that’s why I kitten myself and use it as little as possible.
1. AvP – I skipped that game, sorry if I sounded all knowing but it sounds like each “race” had a counter to it, along with the obvious “the background is moving so they are there” theme
2. Signs of a stealthed Thief – Smoke Fields and the giant AoE House Field (Shadow Refuge) are huuuuge give aways that a Thief is not only there, but also stealthed. We don’t get enough stealth time to become stealthed, and sneak up on someone who we couldn’t see and then backstab them, we simply don’t get enough stealth time to do that. We would have to restealth at some point, and when we would, we have the 3s debuff, or you’d see a Smoke field come up.
3. Trap – No, I didn’t mean AoE, I ment what I said, a Trap, the new WvW Stealth removing 30s Trap that is MADE for people who say Stealth is OP. It hardly takes any time to set up. And you shouldn’t be just throwing AoEs anywhere. Look at Number 2 and based on what you see, you should have an idea of where the Thief is. Place AoEs there. Placing AoEs out in random areas in the hopes of 1 of them hitting us doesn’t do anything.
4. Hard Counters = Trap above, Immobilizing AoEs (See number 2 and number 3 for placement) and Fear causing effects which remove us from our stealth granting fields.
5. Stealth being cheap – How is it cheap? Because you don’t know where we are? most of us act within reason and using the clues (number 2/3) you should know what we are doing.
Is it cheap because you can’t see us? Well you can see where we have been and guess where we are going.
You can still hit us, which is something that WoW wouldn’t allow.
We aren’t gods when we stealth, we still take AoEs one at a time, just like you.
6. Buff in other department – What buff do you want Thieves to get? I see equally as many “Stealth is cheap” as “Thieves run away too much”. A popular build which uses Dodge/Evade/Vig has a dodge roll which is almost 100% foul proof. I’ve seen a good thief hold off a group of 4 players in a PvP match at a point. People complain of that build like you wouldn’t believe, and it uses 0 stealth. So you want all of us to have to be forced to build like that? No damage, all evade? Our Shadow Step is good, but its still on a cooldown. Thieves are squishy in armor and vit and can’t be buffed due to Armor categories.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
Why are you other classes playing the same victim game when you complain about thieves? I have acquired the knowledge in dealing with them in relation to my build, why can’t you all instead of asking for nerf? I know you are not asking for a nerf in this thread but it happens too often.
stealth thief can do 14K damage with a backstab.
My ele has 11K health
If they would run in completely invisible they can finish me with one hit without me even knowing that they’re there. Or should people AoE around themselves constantly at all times?
Really the biggest problem is not that the damage is too big, but that stealth is cheap.I have no sympathy for a glass cannon.
A new title should be “Glkittenterer”…get so many kills from people with a certain set on
Well for MF sets it would be pretty easy, then come zerkers, other gear would take some time.
My post was censored! G-l-a-s-s_S-h-a-t-t-e-r-e-r. There.

…don’t be out in the front lines with 11k Health, that should be a given. If you pit Glass Cannon against Glass Cannon, you are correct, a thief will win, ANET has stated that this is what the Thief is ment to do.
full vitality/ toughness means that ele can be between 2 and 3 shot. How to do that?
1. Backstab then heartseeker spam
2. Backstab, immediately do an ability that gives you swiftness, comeback and repeat. Invisibility has a 3 sec CD shouldn’t be hard.So yes, invisibility is simply a cheap mechanic.
So yes, in a 1v1, a Glass Cannon Thief ment for damage is going to win. I said this above.
Ignoring what I just said though…
So you are completely unable to get away from a Thief that stealthed and you know they are attempting to move behind you? Doesn’t Ele have the second best mobility in the game? Fire Trail, RtL, Mist Form are the major ones that I can think of atm (been awhile since I played my Ele, sorry)You are right that trying to go up and swing a Dagger at a Thief is going to get you killed, you have to play smarter then that to kill even a newbie Thief.
fire doesn’t get you that far, you can use your bow ability or your shadowstep to get there. Mist form doesn’t really allow you to move faster and lasts 3 seconds, ride the lightning used to have the best mobility, but it got nerfed because “eles need less mobility and thieves need more”.
All I’m saying is that invisibility is cheap. No matter how you look at it it is. It’s simply cheap. The only game that I remember where invisibility wasn’t cheap was Alien versus predator – when a predator goes invisible the background that he is covering shimmers and waves slightly, plus aliens could see trough invisibility and humans could use their tracking gun to determine your position.
And that’s a case where invisibility becomes pointless because everyone has a counter in their backpocket…
“Oh a Thief Stealthed? Just look for his outline” “Oh, I have bad eye sight, I’ll just use this TRACKING GUN!”

I’d like to see far less stealth with thieves, but more the ability survive and be better in group play. The way they are now, they are pretty much relegated to hiding in stealth and nearly 1 shotting people or whole groups. If they aren’t stealthed they are pretty much dead, so yes they do have a point there.
OK…you guys say you want them to have more survivability, but what does that mean? I can understand 2 things…more ways to dodge attacks, or ability to survive getting hit…Thief is Medium Armor, giving us more Armor isn’t logical because we are already locked in the Medium Armor category…so I guess you mean the second one…
I see just as many QQ threads of Thieves being able to disengage and go heal, as I see Thieves being able to stealth and sneak so…pick one that you all want to complain about, quit saying we need more of one and less of the other.

I have more hope on the balance part.
Better balanced thief or better (an complete overhold ^^)
I sense…your Thief hate…it only feeds my stalking of WvW.
Eh my only problem with thieves is the constant stealthing and blinds. It’s nearly impossible to do anything to one. That coupled with high damage can make for a really deadly and overpowered class. I don’t want an argument though. Just stating my opinion
You won’t get any argument from me, Blind Powder/Smoke Fields is what the meta (read: common everyman runnable) builds are atm. I don’t use Smoke Fields just because I never liked how cheaply they can be spammed. The Blind + Stealth is too much.

Better balanced thief or better (an complete overhold ^^)
I sense…your Thief hate…it only feeds my stalking of WvW.
I don’t even mind thieves stalking, I mind when they don’t have the balls to finish a fight. I got in five different 1v1s with thieves during my WvW time yesterday, spanked every one of them, and every single one stealthed away rather than taking their loss like a man. Though I guess kill credit from a bloody coward shouldn’t be worth much anyway.
Thieves… masters of psychological warfare… they are winning. The more you are bothered by it, the more they win =D
Whether they died, or ran away, either way it is all the same to me, I still won.
Not having a pair = The greatest loss there is
Try telling that to the military who will try for a retreat if they are in a losing battle.
They are not being cowards for running from a losing battle, they are using common sense and using what they have to live to fight another day.As long as you are bothered by it, they win. If they run away from you, you have won, remember that.
Inapplicable. Not real life, not a battle, it’s a game. If a football player won’t play his best for his team because he’s afraid of getting hit or losing, he’s a coward.
By that logic though we would the QB give the ball to anyone else and not just take the hit when he knew he was going to get hit? He wants to win even at the cost of his self. Thieves want to win so bad sometimes they don’t think before they start a fight.

Stealth, has effects that give it away. It wasn’t like before culling in which a Thief could Stealth off of your screen, and then have an additional 5seconds (w/e it took for the game to see the Thief) before you could do anything. Thieves don’t have enough stealth time to cover their whole range to run up on a target that was completely unaware due to Sight and then backstab them. Show me proof that a Thief has done this to you, and I’ll say to you that I’ve been playing my Thief the wrong way and I will hunt down that person to train me.
What I mean by that, is that Smoke Fields aren’t going off, a Shadow Refuge (READ: Giant House Icon with a Field under it) isn’t visable, that you didn’t first see him, and he then 1shoted you.
BTW – I always go after Eles, the most popular builds seem to have 0 toughness Squishy food is the best!

‘How much more ’stealth’ blood do you want in your hands’? – a lot
’How much more unreasonable deaths do you want? – I don’t think I’ve died an “unreasonable death”, explain?
’How much more lives do you want to take advantage of? – I mean…being a Thief we do steal from others so…the more the merrier I guess?
’How much more Freedom do you want? – Well I live in ’Merica, so I have plenty of that freedom.
’How much more Success do you want? – I view my self as pretty successful…
’How much more Power do you want? – Power is never a bad thing…
OK, troll part of that is done.
Good Thieves, don’t have to complain about us being underpowered. Without Thief (which a lot of people want to take away from us) we would be horrible due to low Armor/HP and we would ALL be forced to run Evasion/Dodge builds to even survive, that isn’t even talking about armor.
Are we weak? No.
Without stealth? Sure!
Am I going around saying Thieves need a buff? No.
Am I going around telling people how bat-kitten insane they are for saying Thieves need to get rid of stealth? Yuuuuup.
Thieve is a well-balanced class looking out, looking in, a lot of newbies can’t figure us out and then claim that Stealth is broken (or even us that, other games fail because they do it too approach…ewh) That would be like me saying Mesmer is broken because I can’t tell Illusions apart, or Ranger is broken because they get a perm pet. Thief is Thief, we like our stealth, there are ways to remove it, leave us out of your QQ threads unless it was a close match.
I guess in conclusion I don’t know if this is a Thief Hate Thread, or if this post was made in response of Bad/Weak Thieves complaining and you complaining about them…

Targetable or not.
Traps (The new or old ones) work great on a Thief.
Camping the Body is also a good idea.
Throwing down AoE where they are (Not where they have been) is a good idea aswell.
Ignoring the Thief and using your time wisely.
Getting another Thief to deal with him (Obviously this group had no idea what was going on, it was possible they though a Dragon was attacking)
What I see in this video is a bunch of people who don’t understand Thief, swinging Swords at the afterimage of where the Thief as been.
If a player is good, shouldn’t they be able to do this to a group of unskilled players? I say no coordination going on between that group other then “There” as the Smoke Field. Which if the players understood Thief, they would had known Targeting it would had done nothing because the Thief already had left.
Can a build used to kill a Up-in-your-face-Warrior kill a Thief? Not always. Does every class have a build that can kill a Thief? Yuuuuup.
Thieves have to deal with other Thieves aswell. We know how to deal with them because we are them.

Winning = Getting something in return.
Each RNG WILL give you something for your money. Those Flowers/Shells do sell well and you can convert them EASILY into money.
However, you are wanting the very least possibility item to get (The ticket), which is comparable to wanting the jackpot.
Expecting to get the tickets from a few boxes is the same as expecting to get the Jackpot in a few bets. Its unfavorable. If you don’t support it then that’s fine, but these posts are more against people who sink money into them, then rage because they didn’t get what they wanted (which from what I’ve seen, most of the people that have posted in these topics)
Ajini – Thief – Commander
So the goal of getting something becomes spending money? You can’t just get it by chance and be happy anymore that the odds just happened?
Again, the Crate was first shown as a box that gives you a chance at a ton of stuff, with a rare chance of getting the weapon. Do people want the weapon? Yes. But they shouldn’t just expect to get it. That’s like people playing the lottery and expecting to get the Jackpot.
people want to be able to buy the weapon and not play a lottery. Why would I throw real money just to get a yellow drop to me in game? If I want something in game I want to be able to buy it and not gamble it. If I can’t buy it I won’t throw money at it. Why? Because I have a rare chance to get a few pixels here, pixels that won’t get me more money. I can spend my whole wage and not get those pixels. It will get me a few rares and probably will get me depressed. Why would anyone want to gamble like that?
Also do the math. 800 gems = 10 euros. 1200 gems = 10 boxes. On average a skin drops in about 150 boxes. I would need to spend 2250 euros to have an average chance to get it. The skins are the only thing unique in those boxes. Why would I buy an RNG box again?
If 150 boxes are the average then you are correct, however do you take this logic to the lottery?
“Ok, I need to spend 1,000,000USD in tickets to, on average, win the $2,000,000USD lottery!”
No, you wouldn’t. The RNG boxes were stated as that, a chance to get something. If you go in expecting to get it, just like with the lottery and all things randomly generated, most likely you won’t get it.
If they just let you buy the weapons, would that make you feel better? Most likely not because with how it is now, I could easily see the skins being around Precurser price, if not Legendary price.
I am not saying that people who want to buy the weapons don’t have a point, however I understand why ANET made them account-bound. There are multiple ways to get the boxes besides using real cash. There is drops from mobs (in which they even give you farming support) and then there is gold → gems.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
I’m not gonna give them a penny until I know I get what I want.
Which is fine, however a lot of people that say this view, then go spend money on RNG boxes and complain that they didn’t get what they wanted. Saying this, then acting against it, doesn’t make me want to support your argument at all.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
Easier? If I had bought another 20 crates, would’ve I gotten one? Maybe? MAYBE?
Sorry, not easier, easier was an easier word to use ;P
They allow you to have more tries at the same chance (Money → Gems gives you more Gems then Gold→ Gems does)
Ajini – Thief – Commander
I…don’t understand what all this hate is towards the RNG…Is it because you are putting money into the game that you expect to get what you wanted in return?
Well I’m going to go ahead and say that 50% of the people who buy the Crates are converting from Gold to Gems (In which case they aren’t putting money into the system, but taking it out), in which case if you are doing this, your argument based upon you supporting the game is wrong.
Now on the other side, if you actually spend money to support the game and buy RNG boxes, then you get more for your dollar then the people who spent Gold for Gems and thus have a better % then the others to get it, thus is your reward for spending actual money and supporting the game…
It isn’t like the boxes give something that you can’t live without. They are all cosmetic items, with anything important (Mats) can still be gotten through the TP.
I don’t like RNG, but that’s because I understand that the odds are low for me to get the BEST item in the set, only play to win, not to get the jackpot. I am happy with my Minis I got.
Let’s say you want the new weapon in Southsun. You buy one box with money. You don’t get it. The average amount of boxes required to get those would be 150 boxes. Who has that much money to gamble? You swallow a bitter pill, admit that you will never get the awesome weapon and don’t buy the RNG boxes. The company loses profits and you can’t buy the skin that you want. See the problem?
So the goal of getting something becomes spending money? You can’t just get it by chance and be happy anymore that the odds just happened?
Again, the Crate was first shown as a box that gives you a chance at a ton of stuff, with a rare chance of getting the weapon. Do people want the weapon? Yes. But they shouldn’t just expect to get it. That’s like people playing the lottery and expecting to get the Jackpot.

I farmed religiously for a couple of hours each day this week and got 21 crates.
And what did I get? 1 portable mystic forge, 1 portable crafting station and 2 focus skins. Are you kidding me? These random chance boxes are really starting to tick me off. Why can’t I just buy the skin I want from the gem store? Maybe I’d actually pay for them if I knew for sure I’d GET WHAT I WANT. Not some random jokes.
I had to consume over 2 kilograms of delicious orange ice cream to overcome my sadness. No weapon skin for me, one sad panda sitting here and being sad. I’m gonna need more ice cream and with sprinkles this time.
Why can’t you just buy the weapon skin? Because you can convert Gold to Gems, which doesn’t help ANET, so they make it easier if you spend money. Remember, its just a cosmetic item, they allow 3 ways to get the chest (Drop, Gold → Gems, or Money → Gems) I wouldn’t complain about how hard it is to get the lowest rarity item

You are sure you got all the points of interest for the map? There is one in a cave that looks like it is part of the big cave but is really a small cave at the north side of the island (entrance is near where the jumping puzzle starts) Just beware of the egg laying Karka & facesucker babies standing over the demolition guy there (never have seen anyone do this event yet either)
If they were at the Egglayer, then they were around the end of that event…it starts out easy, but at the end it then requires 3+ people to do it.
You ARE rewarded with a chest for your efforts though.

@OP – A lot of people hate on the +All Stat gear (Celestial stuff), however if your build calls for that then go ahead and use it, a lot of the times a Jack-of-all-trades can be sooo much better then a Trinity-Focused build, it just depends on the build/situation. Play what you want and don’t take others opinions of your build too much to heart.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
I have more hope on the balance part.
Better balanced thief or better (an complete overhold ^^)
I sense…your Thief hate…it only feeds my stalking of WvW.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
The problem is, what you put in the RNG lottery, not the RNG it self
Whats in the RNG Lottery? Skins that arent sellable? Would making these sellable fix the problem? Nope, because then the prices would skyrocket and people would still complain. I think its best that they are locked down as Account Bound. Now maybe having the Mini Game have a RARE chance of giving these out (every 100-200 wins you get a ticket?) and I think people would be more accepting. I dunno, the Mini-event should be a bit better (have an explanation of whats going on) before good rewards are added.

Didn’t read everyone’s former posts, so sorry but it is 4 pages long
@OP – A lot of people think that Stealth is OP because it limits options (It doesn’t because you can still attack without having us Targeted (Unlike WoW)). However I promise if you took Stealth away, anyone who isn’t a dodge build will have to respec or quit. I remember being a newbie during the BTW and I have to say, the only reason I could do some events was because of Stealth.
Thief doesn’t have enough Survivability without stealth unless you are constantly dodging, and even with dodging you then give up quite a bit damage to get that.
Is Stealth a problem in high level play? Most people will say so.
Is Stealth a problem in low level play? I don’t think most people would agree on this one.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
I’ve always played my Thief as a Kiting/Survival DPS class more then anything…
What is the difference between Kiting and Tanking? Both hold Aggro, but Tanking is taking the damage/healing it back up, while Kiting is just avoiding the damage.
I think people are still too stuck up in the Trinity to see a class that doesn’t fit perfectly into those roles as something good. I can dodge and be just as effective as a Tank can.

Spent about 40 – 50 hours in Southsun since update, still haven’t seen or know what these crates are. I don’t follow a path or patern, I usually grab the settler’s buff then do an instigator, then a defend event, then kill some karka, then see where the map takes me
, some nights I do some stuff with the guild and don’t even visit Southsun..
I don’t mind that I haven’t seen one drop, just sucks that I hardly play 10 hours a week but still suffer from either the worst luck ever or a bad case of DR.
I am sorry for your bad luck friend O.o;
I’ve gotten around 3 crates to drop for me, my brother has only gotten 1 so far (both with the 200% MF buff)
I’ve had people that get around 1 per 3 hours spent…
Ajini – Thief – Commander
0/54 southsun crates – countless hours.
Nope, you’re right – doesn’t hurt the player base
So you have no counter to my argument, just griping over playing the lottery and coming up short. Well alrighty then.
….
Deathdance, please fix your spelling. I get a few mistakes are alright, but I had problems understanding your point because of it.
Don’t get me wrong though, I agree.
When these boxes came out, they listed off ALL the items that you could get…then they said “with a RARE chance to get a new weapon skin!” because they put this keyword there, I am fine with how hard these are to get. Do I like RNG boxes? Not really a fan of them, but I think its kinda fun. I am by no means going to pump a huge amount of money into them, but am I going to be upset that I didn’t get the jackpot? No.
People who play the lottery to get the jackpot shouldn’t be allowed to play, you are going to be disappointed. Winning =/= Jackpot, Winning is getting something back. Such as I got a Crate to drop for me, I opened it and got a Mini, by that, I “won” something.
Sorry, I don’t like the RNG, however I am not going to be in the group that says its evil, simply because it helps the game, and people who sink money into it are only going to come out sore. (This is coming from a Math/CmpSci Major)

…Agony wouldn’t be added to the past world, but added to new content/new dungeons…I don’t see the big deal as far as the gear grind, if you want to keep doing level 80 things in the past map, you can.
If you want to move onto Ascended Gear, you just buy the agony res and look at all the new content! Sorry but the “gear grind” that everyone says is horrible is already in the form Normal → Uncommon → Fine → Masterwork → Rare → Exotic → (Soon to be Ascended) → Legendary.
Thats been in from day one, move on folks, these arn’t the droids you are looking for.
Ajini – Thief – Commander
Ok first of all…to each his own play style, but if you are wanting to go towards the high burst damage and the long CD as a glass cannon, then more power to you…
However how has the Thieves burst been nerfed? Because Mug doesn’t deal crit damage anymore? The Assassin’s Sig being changed helped alot more people then it hurt. I’ve been a Thief since BW3, how has Thief been changed?
Personally, I find that I can engage a target, or multiple targets, and still deal damage to down/highly wound targets and be able to retreat if I need it.
