Just wanted to say thank you and well done to the designer(s) of this sweet little DE chain/mini-dungeon – I just did it with three friends and it was amazing fun. Good use of shadow (with the gamma ‘trick’ fixed!) that gave the whole thing a great atmosphere with just the right level of challenge to keep things moving and edgy without skirting too close to being truly frustrating. Kudos to you!

I’m in blues and greens (and one exotic) and not particularly specced for vitality, but aside from my first time facing him while I was still learning the ropes, GL has been the one of the more challenging-but-fun bosses alongside Subject Alpha. No one’s saying that you suck or that you’re not geared for it, but at the same time it’s specious to say the problem lies ONLY with the boss design and not with you. Bring someone who knows how to do it, and LISTEN to them when they’re explaining it, or read a guide and actually follow the advice given. If you do it right, he shouldn’t even eat a single grub, which makes everything much easier.
P.S. WRYYYYYY SIMIN. Seriously, you don’t know what’s broken until you throw yourself at that boss for two hours straight before getting anywhere. (At least after some reading, I know what’s actually supposed to happen, though that doesn’t make me feel any better about it!)

If you have any AoE skills, activate the skill but don’t cast it. The AoE circle should be able to help you feel out the edges of the platforms around you.
Yes please! Most of the time when I try to /sit on a chair or couch that behaves like it should when I jump on top of it, I end up sitting on the ground, IN the furniture. It’s a pity that the world is so rich and detailed, but our options of interacting with it are so limited.
If I didn’t read it wrong, you only get captcha’d someone reports you for botting. If you’re behaving like a human, there’s a general awareness of how bots operate, and some measures are put in place for people frivolously reporting legit players (like reducing the “weight” of or taking away their ability to report), this sounds like a fairly good plan to me!
TC is a great server, having a lot of fun here! I’m one of those who will lead people up to Sharkmaw Caverns and through the jump puzzle if they’re so inclined, because it’s amazing and deserves to be seen! Troll’s End, too.
“Seeeize the moment!” “Never let a wrong ripen into eevil.”
Cooking in Lion’s Arch is taxing on my sanity sometimes!
Wow, Singaporean here but I never made the connection.. Yet it makes so much sense! Our emphasis on multiculturalism and multiracial harmony (there are four different national languages, including English) meshes pretty well with the whole concept of Lion’s Arch too. Totally sold.
GL was difficult the first time, but after going up against him a couple more times since then, he started to get as fun as Subject Alpha.
I personally quite like the spice it adds to the whole jumpuz experience. Of course, it can be frustrating if you’re on the receiving/losing end, but you can always try again later or bring friends!
I was going to suggest rebinding the keys, but that’d affect your other weapons as well, which.. would not solve anything.
I play from Asia on a US server (TC), but I don’t notice any persistent lag in-game that’s server-side rather than my-kitten-router-side. Maybe that depends on where you are, though.
I’ve run CoE, HoTW, and Arah explorables without any major hiccups, and I’m wearing only one level 80 exotic (SE leggings). The rest of my armour is made up of greens and blues, and my gloves are still level 65 because I liked the design, even. I’m working on a full set right now, of course, but take the armour advice more as a recommendation than a must when considering running dungeons – it just makes things easier. Knowing what to do and having a competent team are both more important than having full exotics.
My group did it the same way as Orcao, interestingly enough. I was the one at the back pulling the two sparks by standing at one spawn-point and picking up aggro before blinking to the other, while a thief handled the three at the entrance. Our other three members were outside beating on it at all times. Finally managed it after an hour and a half or so. Never again!

Is this the set?
It doesn’t matter if you fall, as long as you get both halves of the key and open the chest. Make sure you’re doing it on different maps, though! There are three different WvW Borderlands maps – each of them have the same jump puzzle in the same location, but each unlocks a different achievement (Emerald/Garnet/Sapphire) for completing the puzzle in that specific map. So you’ll have to do it three times, once per map, to get all three Sanctum achievements.
If you’re not getting the achievement for finishing it in that map, you’ll probably have to try the other Borderlands.
Human mesmer, still working on my exotics. Strong Masque, Cabalist’s top and boots, Furnace leggings, Inquisitor’s Gloves, and pretty feathery Epaulets (my favourite shoulders!).
I’m fairly sure you need to activate all the boosts manually, so don’t worry about it overlapping, it’ll just go into your upgrades tab.
I’ll agree that some of the bosses are wail-on-inflated-health-bar-for-15-minutes yawnfests, but I quite enjoyed the fights with Alpha in Crucible of Eternity, or the experiment takedowns in the same. Fun mechanics, good balance of “why won’t it diiie” and “better move fast or I’m downed and dead” that keeps the blood pumping.
